Is anyone else having this problem, sometimes when pressing on a storage card installed app's icon to load it, it is endlessly loading and after 2-3mins you get a windows unable to run message.
If yes, is there a solution for that, except installing everything in phone memory ?
Which App do you mean exactly, or are these everybody of the SD card?
Any app randomly at some point it will crash like this and when the msg comes if you try again the app loads normaly. I read somewhere about this problem but can't find it again...

sorry, have unfortunately no idea for this problem
good luck
Thanx anyway for your interest, appreciate it
try a different memory card/rom ... try a different memory card if u have one at hand , or a rom if u dont have one at hand , u will then know whats causing it
Same here, everything appears to be fine then out of the blue you tap start and tap on any application that is on the SD card and I just get the wait cursor forever and there is nothing you can do but reset.
Whats strange is this happened last night and I pressed reset but it did not reset (maybe just pressed lightly) then it bleeped and said the application could not be found.
I just thought it was me
Me too, on supplied SD card.
I suspect the SD card falls asleep and isn't instantly accessible so leads to this error which causes the 2 or 3 minute hang. I've recently been ensuring I access the SD with a file manager program to wake it up before launching the app I want. I haven't had the error yet when using this pattern.
I might write a launcher program that wakes up the SD card prior to launching the intended app if it continues to look like a sleeping SD card is the cause of the problem.
I first thought it was a problem with .NET programs on the SD card as it's my self-written programs that I use most on the SD card. This is still a possible (but now lesser) suspect for me
Everyone has this problem ... and if you don't ... yer fricken lucky ehhehehe.
Take a look all over the TG01 forums. This problem along with other SD card related problems exist everywhere you go. Now I have owned both the TG01 and the T01a. I don't recall this problem existing on the T01a from DOCOMO. Unfortunately, I couldn't sim unlock the T01a, so I sold it for an unlocked TG01.
My friend, if you could write a launcher to "wake up" the SD card, that would be VERY much appreciated by literally everyone on this forum.
Thank you.... very much in advance,
-Kili.
PS: Something nifty. I have installed everything that runs as a service or consistently in memory on my main memory, and I even use all wallpapers from main memory and make sure that all cashing takes place on the main memory. It hasn't frozen for a few hours now. Even coming out of sleep mode, everything is A-OK.

Yeah thought of doing that but never did cause i soft reset quite often and i want my stuff in storage so i don't lose them.. With the 6.1 rom I don't get this very often, in fact an app stack yesterday after almost two weeks that i'm using this rom. I'm thinking maybe it was also because in 6.5.x roms i used changed icons for apps that were all in storage also, whereas in 6.1 i didn't find any way to change icons, so i'm using the stock ones. Anyway i'm happy at least i don't get it often.
Holy crap! It really really worked.
Well.... holy crap! I loaded up Resco Explorer, open up my SD Card, "Woke it up" so to speak. Then I can use the programs on my SD Card without fear. I think there is a definite work around here, we need someone to come up with a "SD Wake-up" program for the TG01, I would do it myself but I would probably brick everyone's devices in the process ehehehehheehhe(I don't know how to program)! Thank-you so much LesForges. You da man for coming up with the easy-yet-impossible-for-kili-to-find workaround/solution.
I haven't had this problem occur in one day now. My phone has been rock solid... it is a miracle! Honestly .. I feel a certain peace inside.
Guys seriously we need to get the word out about this solution. We can use this and probably overcome this horrible annoying error with a simple application!

I'm feeling you
Allright... I can't program, BUT I CAN DAMN SURE MIX N' MASH... ohh yeah
All-right, what is the one problem that plagues all of our devices? THE "SD CARD" sleep mode/app loading problem/freezing for no reason/and generic crappiness of the Toshiba SD CARD drivers.
And for you lucky few that haven't got a clue what I am talking about ... this goes out to you... "SKREW YOU EHHEEHEH mahthafa'&Az, I HATE YOU.... ya lucky basterd skum" (Just kidding of course) eheheheh
Needless to say, some people this doesn't seem to effect, others, this is a nightmare, so much so, I have contemplated selling my beautiful device before finding this. The Windows Mobile 6.1 rom solved so many problems for me, but still this one SD Freeze after Sleep mode problem persisted... This is how I overcame the issue.
First of all... what is the problem... the problem is easily duplicated if you go into sleep mode, wait a couple of minutes, then your sd card goes to sleep, then turn the device back on and run a program or application that is installed on the sd card. Your device will freeze and if it didn't freeze this time, try it a few more times... it will freeze. To overcome this issue, as stated above, go into Resco Explorer and open up the SD Card and then your SD Card has been "woken up" so to speak and then everything is good again. But how does one automate the process? You must do this.
Install S2U2 - Swipe to Unlock 2, after configuring it, go into the "STU2 Settings", then go to "Others" in the options area, then point it to Resco Explorer. Now the nifty thing about Resco Explorer is that you have the option have it default to open in any directory that you desire. So of course, set it to "\Storage Card" ... that's all. So basically whenever your device goes to sleep, it will automatically open up the SD Card once you want to use your device again, so it will never catch you off-guard again. The problem is solved. Now.. for the next item, I really want to just close Resco Explorer as soon as I open it, can one make an executable batch file in Windows Mobile? Then all our problems are truly solved. I notice that I have to hover in the SD Card area for about 3 seconds for the icons in the root directory to populate. I assume you need to have Resco Explorer kinda on a timed delay.. So you use Swipe to Unlock 2 and then it should open up Resco for about 3 seconds and then quit. I don't want to minimize Resco, I really want to quit it so if the device goes into sleep mode again, then it is already set for next time. I notice the icons are cashed in memory wen I leave the program open, so I always have to go up and down a couple of directories in order to "Wake Up" the card.
If someone knows how to make some kind of script that would open up my Resco for a couple of seconds and then close it, man that would sure be appreciated. Thank you.

Class 10 Kingston
So... I just got my 16Gb Class 10 Kingston in the mail... I will let everyone know if it also solves this problem. I assume it will not fix the problem but hey if I can get a little more speed out of my device then I am happy. I will post my results later.
**UPDATE** [21:59 - 2010/06/17] - Tokyo Time
Tried my Kingston 16 Gb Class 10, but to no avail, problem still persists. So just stick with the above solution.

Do you know MORTSCRIPT? I think that this is exactly what you are looking for...
Unfortunately I'm just a beginner on this program.
Although the above solution would probably work (and so does navigating to the app and running the EXE directly), my preferred solution is just to install everyting in main memory. Its annoying to loose a feature like that, I know, but so far all of the apps I've wanted to install on the SD card came to a total of about 10MB, so its a lot easier just to install them in main memory and be done with it.
Maybe someone could write a mortscript to read the contents of a text file in the root of the SD card before lanching the chosen app?
I believe Schap's advanced config 3.3 will do the trick
http://www.touchxperience.com/en/applications/view.download/11/21.html
It has lots of settings and tweaks
Just goto power management and disable SD card
It worked for me
Holy crap! #2.... and I mean a big #2 Holy Crap!
Wow.. if this works... I will report back later, right now I am testing it. I will let everyone know if it works, but if the SD Card doesn't go into sleep mode, then this problem is totally solved.... WOW! I will check back later and let everyone know.
[Update - 12:36pm - Tokyo Time]
No freeze as of yet, Schap's advanced config v3.3 has done the job. However my activesync is now disconnecting after 5 minutes of being connected to the computer, it is still charging but it just disconnects. So, I assume it has something to do with installing Shaps, it is not a big deal. To fix it, I went into the power options in Schap's advanced config v3.3 and I disabled the power saving feature for "AsyncMAC". So hopefully that will do the trick. Another interesting fix is for the icon disappearing problem. There really is only one solution that I can find that works in both windows mobile 6.5 and 6.1. Go and change the icons using an icon changer and have the icons stored locally and not on the SD Card. Then everything is fine, then you now have a perfect device.
That is all she wrote my friends, we now have working devices. Really we need to make a sticky for these two fixes. This needs to be implemented into every rom, this is the biggest problem for our devices and they have been solved by the good members on this board, I wish i could take credit for something, however heheheheh, I can't. Wafeeq YOU ARE AWESOME. Thanks man for the suggestion.
Freezing Problem - "Schap's Advanced Config v3.3" - http://www.touchxperience.com/en/applications/view.download/11/21.html - Go to power management and disable the power saving feature for the SD Card.
Missing Icons Workaround for WM 6.1 - "SK Shortcut Manager" - http://www.s-k-tools.com/index.html?sksmgr/m_sksmgr.html - One needs to change the icons for programs installed on your SD Card, remember, use icons located in the main memory and not on the SD Card.
Missing Icons Workaround for WM 6.5 - "JWMD Icon Changer" - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=567080 - Again, one only needs to change the icons for programs installed on your SD Card, use icons located in the main memory and not on the SD Card.
Thats it... fricken awesome shizenziebittle I am so ecstatic right now. Everything is done, I can just enjoy my device now. Yai.

If the SD Card doesn't go into sleep mode, that means that it's always draining current from battery. Please confirm battery consume
Best Regards
Hi folks,
has any of you seen this?
I have the atrix 4g, I have a 16GB sd card, I copied some files (like 2GB in mp3) to the sd card, I safely removed the device from my computer, then from the atrix status bar I changed the usb mode to none and it mounted the card just fine, but now when I try to open apps like gallery, music player, files, or even winamp, they will just hang and I have to force close application.
Also, it drying out the battery very quickly, is like is hanging in trying to read the files.
What can I do? I don't want to have to reset the phone.
Any ideas?
Hi, ok I found the process taking all the cpu, is android.process.media, I dont know what is trying to do, how can I tell why is hanging?
I cant stop it either, is it important?
Thanks

I've had this problem twice. I think that the Atrix's software cant handle so much new media at one time. The first time it happened I ended up preforming a factory reset, which fixed everything (Make sure to back up first!) The second time was when I was adding lots of music again, and since I'm doing this constantly, I ended up unlocking and flashing to CM7.
hmmm yes this ain't my first time with this problem either and i had to reset as well. but that's too much work, i have a mod for the lapdock and having to reinstall is a real pain. but anyway I've manage to kill the media process with the kill -9 command using the terminal emulator as root and t this released everything else, gallery and music are working fine. i still don't know what will affect if i don't let the process start again, i might look for an app that would help me prevent it from starting , but if it causes any pain i will try maybe another flash like you said .
thanks
ok, I might have found another solution, may be too prompt but wanted to share.
I kept searching on google and found more options, since killing the media process wasnt very useful, eventually it would start again and hang everything. Basically, go to Settings, Applications, manage applications, all, tab on media storage and then Clear Data, go back tab media share and clear data, then reboot the phone.
After reboot the media process will start again and will scan all drives, I can see it taking something between 20 and 40%, the common at 25%, is way below the 60% that it was using before, so I gave it a second chance and let it running for a while.
Indeed, after some minutes it finished the rescan and cpu went back to 0% on the media process and I was able to open gallery, music, etc.
So, I kept all my files in the sd card, didnt have to factiry reset and the media process went back to normal.
Hope this is permanent, and hope it works to anyone else with the same.
cheers
I've searched seemingly everywhere on here and on google trying to find an answer but all I can find is "oh just restart your phone that should fix it bye"
But those answers were for people that are missing ALL of their pics! My problem is, pretty much half of my pictures are gone, I first noticed it because there was a certain set that I took 7 pictures like a month and a half ago, and only 3 remain, I know they were there cause I looked at them alot last time was like last week. I went to them today and there were only 3, then I started noticing a lot of my pictures are missing, just magically disappeared. So I hooked into my computer and looked for them, same result. I tried to save the remaining pictures but my computer is being stupid and every time I try explorer.exe locks up now so I can't copy anything off the phone.
I NEED to get my pictures back I have irreplaceable memories of my son, those pictures can't just be gone, I never deleted anything they have to be somewhere, I'm in desperate need of help!
Are these on the internal or external memory ?
What phone is this ? (since this is a general section, could be any OS, even) I know for Android there are un-delete type apps, I'd guess others have these, too - may or may not help.
In the meantime, is there a "send" type option you could use to transfer the remaining pictures off the device ?
try this... http://www.r-studio.com/
Try searching your phone from explorer
Maybe try searching the SD of your phone.
1. Turn on USB storage
2. Using explorer navigate to the SD card of your phone. (should be under computer)
3. In the search bar type "*.jpg" no quotes
This will show you all the pictures on your phone
Device:
ZTE Grand X (Bell Version) - Model Z933
Android 4.3
Kernel 3.4.0+
No root, stock everything.
I recently bought this ZTE Z933, and I've had some photos, videos, and music stored on the phone's storage for a while, and it worked fine.
Just in the past couple weeks, I put more videos, photos, and music onto an SD Card (4GB, FAT32) and put it into the phone, and now very often (almost daily) all of my picture browsing apps and music playing apps suddenly (and temporarily) are not able to detect ANY media on both the SD card and my phone's storage. But, if I browse my media through ASTRO or any other file manager, all the files are there and they work perfectly fine.
Rebooting the phone does nothing to fix this issue, and neither does accessing the storage through USB or unmounting and mounting the SD Card. For a while, the only fix I found was sometimes if I opened up one of my photos through ASTRO, and then closed it, about half the time it would temporarily fix the issue.
After a bit of searching, I found some threads on different sites about restarting the Media Scanner service (or something along that line) in Settings > Apps. I do not have this, but instead what I do have under Apps > Running > Cached, I have something called "Media", which, when I stop it and restart the phone, fixes the issue temporarily, but it works every time. The annoying thing about this is having to reboot, and losing all my ringtone and notification tone settings, and my playlists every time this happens.
Can anyone give me info on things to try? Or does anyone know of an app that will get me around this issue? (the phone has been reset pretty recently so I don't think that would solve it)
Any help would be very appreciated!
Hey how's it going? I to picked up one of these nice little phones and have yet to find anything as far as development on it, i.e root or any roms and ZTEusa has nothing on this phone. Every time I google it it shows another phone.
Its a great phone large screen and has quad core, if enough people post a wanted new thread on the request a thread forum we can get some help. There is a boot loader its just can anyone get root threw it. Also someone needs to try all of the towel root modstrings which are a lot and you might get it rooted. I really enjoy mine have had no problems with media, might be your sdcard is it an old one or a new one what class is it class10?
http://www.xda-developers.com/users-beware-zte-root-backdoor-found/
I just picked up this phone too.
Seems like root acess is simply password controled..
Maybe ztex1609523?
Anyone wanna jam that into an installer?
Hi everyone!
So the inevitable has happened- a viruses infected my phone that my boyfriend soley uses. I knew viruses existed on Android but I didn't know to what extent.
The phone is a Samsung S5. It is NOT rooted.
My boyfriend was watching 'adult' videos and he has his phone set so you can hold your finger over the screen and not actually touch it to select things (IMO i think that feature is stupid! ). Anyway, While watching a video his finger hovered over one of the banner/block videos that are along the side of the actual video you are watching for too long he guessing and inadvertently selected something. He doesn't recall actually seeing anything download though.
Unfortunately because he likes to download some programs that require you to select in your settings to allow downloads from untrusted sources, he just always leaves that option selected. (Not smart).
He took screen shots of what happened next. I've included the screenshots he took in this post.
At this point his phone was frozen on the screens that popped up. He tried turning it off and on again but once back on the screens were still there and were stopping stopping him from doing anything on his phone. He didn't know what was going on and called me at work. Immediately I knew he had infected his phone, a similar type of virus was huge a few years for computers.
I didn't really know what to do so I suggested doing a factory reset. I figured he must have inadvertently downloaded something, and factory reset would get rid of everything.
When I came home from work he told me he did the factory reset like I said and the pop up screens that were preventing use of the phone were gone but he still thought he had a virus because his contacts were all messed up, they were very old and none of his newer contacts exsited (Im not sure where he got the backed up contacts that he did manage to get back...although they are mostly useless.). As well there are a lot of things missing, over 2000 pictures on the SD card have disappeared along with movies, documents, music etc... Almost 32gb of stuff!
I plugged the SD card into my computer thinking maybe his phone just wasn't reading it properly because the phone did show the SD card and you could view what was on it, but almost everything was missing.
All of the photos/videos were backed to his Google photos and they are all gone! The only thing there now is what is left still on his SD card. Checked Google photos trash and it says nothing was deleted.
His SD card is 32gb and use to be almost full, but now it has 27gb free!!!! Where did almost 27gb of data go!!?? And the approx 5gb of data left is just random stuff that I highly doubt would use up even close to 5gb...
(I just learned while typing this, that he was able to get most of his pictures back from Facebook, so nothing was removed from Facebooks backup)
I researched this for hours and I'm pretty sure this is a type of malicious Ransomeware Virus.
I think the virus is gone due to factory reset... Could I be wrong?
As for the missing stuff, my guess is either the missing data has actually been removed by the virus OR its still on the SD card but encrypted by the virus. (Which means it'd also be compacted?)
If it's still there but encrypted how can I find the encrypted files and unencrypted them.
Thanks for reading! Hopefully one of you will have an answer.
Cheers, Rebecca
This looks like the standard ransomware. I would look to see if there is one out there for android. I'm not sure there is a true version. What I mean by this is it locks out your bootloader. Can't be done on stock Samsung. So I think it is gone.
Now when you say he did a factory reset are you sure he didn't wipe the card by mistake?
The contacts sync with Google and what most likely happened is that have been saving to phone memory and not to the Gmail account. Which he most likely signed into after the factory reset.
As for the back up there should not have had anything that could remove them from Google pics.
