[Q] Change default folder for photos to the memory card - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm sure I had a cab fix for this, but can't find it and my searches have come up blank - so
Has anyone any idea how to change the default photo folder on the camera, from the main memory to the sd card.
I've tried a couple of things, deleting the folder from the phone, changing the default folder via the camera to the sd card,
Regardless the bl**dy phone persists on creating a folder on the phone and storeing the images there.
Any help is appreciated, rom in sig
Thanks
john

bottom-left icon in camera settings?
PS. my bad, you've already tried it,
PS2. on my device, changing picture location in camera settings changes the following registry entry:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\Camera\6.26\Strings]
"StorageName"="Storage Card"

Check the registry entry in \HKLM\Software\Camera\General\EnableDCIM\
The value should be 1

Why explorer freezes sometime (Solution)

due a bug or something wired well noticed in the very nice rom version 4.05 which rarly have noticed instability on, one problem still remains quite owfull which is sometimes explorer freezes & don't show any kind of folders or file & none of the menu items work, a general solution found in this forum is usually to slide out your sd card then reset the device which works just fine, the root of the problem for people who like to know is that when explore a folder in the sd card, explorer remains in this folder since it has remembering last folder visited, then you deside a day later to remove the program you visited through explorer through the remove SW thing in the setting & vualla you have created the problem explorer still tends to stay in the none existing folder, solutions?
1. remove sd card then reset
2. from the registery editor HCU--> Software --> File explorer --> StorageCardPath --> \Storage Card
once u change the key into the above value u got it working, i hope this subject is not redundunt but i searched my best

Opera Favourite Icons

I've found a couple of threads mentioning how to change the favourite icons on the Opera tab. I wa just wondering if there was a way to get XDA_UC to copy your modified icons to the Windows/Thumbnail folder after a ROM update?
I know that I can use the Energy XDA_UC Configuration Tools to copy files to the device after a ROM update. The only problem is that all the files in the Thumbnail folder have names like {2DA1346E-8B50-8319-BFE3-0FFC120488F6}.png. Are all these thumbnails randomly generated or are they related to the website or icon position in the opera tab?
^What a jackass^
That aside,
I would suppose it would be possible, if you find the place in your registry that points at those weird filenames that WinMo generates when the thumbnails are created, and wrote a script that inserted the thumbnails into their directory, and then inserted the corresponding entries into the registry.
Shouldn't be too hard to do, since XDA_UC can do the registry xml thing...

[Q] How to make Archos Gallery not display .hidden items?

On my other Android devices I can simply put a . in front of folders that I don't want the gallery to display (such as avatar pics and shortcut icons and what not) and it wouldn't. Then I could use eStrongs file manager or similar to browse to them when I needed them. I popped a 2GB MicroSD card I had laying around that already had some files on it from another Android device and ALL of the folders with images are showing up in the gallery... even those with a . in front of them.
Is there any way on an Archos 101 to set the Gallery to NOT display items inside of a '.' folder? Seems this is default with other Android devices so I'm hoping it's at least an option on these.
Ideas?
Thanks for the help.
Moved to general as not android development.

Create a 0kb file called .nomedia. Place it in the folder of items you don't want shown. That should work.

Doesn't appear to work. I searched before posting this and found a few things about .nomedia and thought maybe you had to rename the actual folders w/the images within to .nomedia to hide them? Seems like this would be a PITA way to go about it.
Am I doing something wrong? Any other ideas?

It should work just fine. Did you name the file specifically .nomedia? No ext name. Did you reboot to see if that helps? Did you put the file in the folder of the items you don't want showing?
Here is some more specific instructions (I didn't write them):
1. On your computer, open Notepad or any other text editor
2. Save the blank file with the filename “.nomedia”, make sure that the Save as type is set as “All Files” instead of “Text documents”
3. Copy that file to the folder on your SD card containing picture files you don’t want to show up in the gallery. (Example: If you want to block aDyno image files from coming up, place the .nomedia file in the sdcard/aDyno folder)
4. Reboot your phone and hopefully the unwanted files should no longer be viewable.

Alright, w/more information I tried it again. I created a file just using a file browser on the device. This time around I created a file in Notepad on my PC called .nomedia and made sure the filetype was set to 'all files' before saving and that there was no extension (deleted the .txt) and then copied that file to my Archos 101. I first tried in the folder on the SD card that contained all the folders in question. I rebooted and it didn't seem to help. I then copied the file into each folder and rebooted. Still no dice. Whenever I open Gallery all the folders and images are still there. What am I doing wrong? Do I need to clear a cache or something or delete any tumbnails or ?? I'm sure I'm just doing something wrong but for the life of me I can't figure it out. I keep searching and am coming up with nothing. This was SO easier on my other Android devices as I just put a period in front of the name of the folders I didn't want to display and it was done. Simple as that. This is a royal PITA and I feel I'm not making any progress.

Do either of these allow you to simply hide w/o signing in or encryption? I found two other programs & both required this which I don't want to deal with. Just seems odd that others are saying this is working for them & I'm not having any luck. I don't mind installing an app as long as it works but I'm not sure why my Archos 101 would be different than the rest.

[Q] Images in internal memory not shown in Gallery

Hi. I have read a lot of post about media scan in i9300 and I cannot figure out what happens to me.
I have a folder of image , (for example whatsapp image) the folder was stored in the internal memory (mnt/sdcard/Whatsapp/media/whatsapp_image)
I copied some images to the folder from computer and my whatspp downloads the new image sent by my friends.
the most interesting thing is Gallery only shows the image downloaded by whatspp. The other images that I put into the folder from computer are missing.
I use "ASTRO File Manager" to see what happens. I found that the file manager cannot even generate the thumbnails of those image I copied from computer to the folder. It only have the thumbnails that downloaded by whatspp. (On the other words, only the image with thumbnails are shown in Gallery and they are downloaded by whatsapp)
But I can still open the image without thumbnails by pressing them and choosing "Use Gallery to open", It can be viewed perfectly. It proves the images are not damaged.
(P.S. If I use My Files, the stock file manager, all images have thumbnails. But the images are still missing, nothing changed or improved)
Then I use File Managers, (My Files, Stock File Manager, and ASTRO File Manager) to move the images without thumbnails to external sd cards (mnt/exSdCards/Temp). After that, ASTRO File Manager can find the folder and generate the thumbnails, Gallery can show the images after rescanning the media.
However, after I move the images back to internal memory (I even create a new folder under root of the internal memory), the thumbnails gone and gallery cannot show them after rescanning media.
Does anyone know what happened and how to solve it? I know I may use other Picture Viewer to "solve" this, but I hope to find out the real solution first. Thank you.
Sorry my thread are too long and my english is poor.
I may post some screenshots later if you want.

[Q]All gallery files disappeared

Suddenly all my pictures and videos disappeared. All Viber, Whats app, Screenshots, camera, downloaded - everything... Only new ones I take are showing. The files are missing in the folders too. I have two DCIM folders - one on internal and another on external drive but they are empty now. I tried File Explorer, ES File Explorer with "show hidden files", and I've checked all of the device folders, but I can not find any of my pictures or videos. I tryed with QuickPic - same sh**... If i connect my device to my PC the result is the same. The PC recovery soft which I test, found about 3000 files, and with all emoticons and trash there were my pictures but in very low res. So I tried Hexamob Recovery Pro (from the Play store), but the result was the same - about 12 000 junk files and some of mine in low res... The method with deleting all .nomedia files doesn't work. Than I've installed Undelete - This app found about 300 files, and these were all of the missing files, but when I tried to restore them, It asked for a license key... The free version could restore only pics...one by one... You can't select all!!!
So how to restore all my stuff without stupid apps!?
*my camera freezes often. "Could not connect the camera" appeares, and I need to reboot to solve this prob
Samsung GT-I9300
Android Version 4.1.2
Baseband I9300UELK1
Kernel 3.0.31 -Siyah-1.8.6+
AOKP Milestone -1 Jelly Bean
Omega v4.2
Where are these files stored (hidden), what is there extension? And why only Undelete can find the proper files with their full resolution!?
So, I found that Undelete detects files at DCIM\DCIM\Camera, but even with "show hidden " explorers does not see the second DCIM folder... Any suggestions !?
You can try
http://android-photo-recovery.com/tutorials/recover-deleted-photos-from-samsung-galaxy-s3.html
Or buy the Undelete licence .
Or read the multiple identical lost photos / files posts .

Thanks!
But I already checked similar posts, and stil can't find solution .. The soft that you recommended, resulting small images too.. The idea is not only to recover, but to prevent future problems of this kind.. I want to understand what causes that
