I have an X10a (not sure if that matters for this question) and I have NOT rooted my phone yet. My question is, should i root my phone before the 2.1 realease in Q4, or is it a bad idea.
Excuse my incompetence towards rooting.
thanks
Edit: I found my answer on the forums, rooting doesn't affect the 2.1 update from SE

Hi,
Can someone please help me rooting my phone. I tried all the options (flashing, using Z4 and Superoneclick), but they don't work.
My problem:
I rooted my X10 on 1.6 because I wanted to have android 2.1. It was on nordic for a while, but I wanted the Dutch version (because of Hyves).
Problem is that the rooting and changing to nordic procedure is different in 2.1, so going back was not the same
I found a way to get my phone back to 1.6 (by flashing, see this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=683793). I thought I could root it and change it back to Dutch. Since the Dutch version of 2.1 (with Hyves) is out, I could download it.
Problem is that I can't root this one in some way. I did update from the version from flashing, so version number is: R2BA026. (I am stuck with a useless 1.6 X10!)
Can someone please help me?!
Thank you in advance!

i know this is my first post and all, but im quite concerned as my friend got multitouch for his x10 quite some months ago, and i am yet to recieve the update as ive had no notifications of it at all. Hopefully this website can help me to resolve this issue, i know how to use the search button but ive really no idea what im looking at. All i would like is a few links to point me into the right direction as what im supposed to do to upgrade my software to atleast support multitouch. All your help would be muchly appriciated thanks for reading
Use flash tool 0.2.9.1 to flash the appropriate x10a or x10i 2.1.A.0.435 firmware. Both the flash tool and firmware can be found here....

Here is a detailed step by step guide for noobs on updating. It is based on AT&T X10a, but it will work for anyone. Just use the correct model firmware....
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1012380
There are ways to implement dualtouch on your existing firmware, however if you flash the generic 2.1.A.0.435 firmware you will be certain to get the official 2.3.3 Gingerbread update directly from PC Companion or SEUS when available.
Just to add on top of the instructions provided,
You will lose your personnel data. So BACKUP before you start with this procedure.
I see the X10 is getting an update to 2.3 my question is I have a custom rom for 2.1 and am wandering if pc companion will update it or if i will have to debrand and reflash to old stock att 1.6 to get the newest update
First, you will not get the update running AT&T branded firmware. You need to be running the 2.1 generic firmware that gets the update. There are different theories on what regions/kits will get the update first. Global Generic is my guess, but unknown13x says Europe first.
Basically, don't do anything till the update is released. It's all speculative at this point.
Btw, all the gingerbread info is in the "sticky" thread at the top of the general section. Look there for future info, as this thread may get closed by mods.
For those who are running AT&T branded 2.1 or 1.6 firmware, here is a step by step guide for unbranding to global generic 2.1.A.0.435, which will get the official 2.3.3 Gingerbread update directly from PC Companion or SEUS when available......

Sorry to burst your bubble, but AT&T will NOT be updating the X10.
They are ONLY updating phones released in 2011 to Gingerbread.

Hi Guys,
Done some searching and haven't found an answer to this. My apologies if i have missed it!
I'm a bit of a newb at flashing, i've only flashed stock 2.1 and cyanogen mod 6.5 to my xperia so far. I'm currently on baseband .54 on my xperia x10a. All the gingerbread roms i'm looking at have a baseband of .71. I'm currently looking to flash wolf break's one.
My question is, since i need 850\2100 wcdma for coverage, will flashing this baseband affect that at all? Or do I totally misunderstand basebands?
Many thanks in advance!
Note: my xperia already says it's a x10i (but it's definitely a x10a) in about phone. But i'm just paranoid since i use my phone for work
I'd really appreciate some help if any of you guys know
As far as I know all the frequencies will work.
Hey dude im on x10 with baseband 71 and can tell u it works fine with at and t
Sent from my x10 on official gingerbread http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mh19PLNTWwk&feature=youtube_gdata_player
Excellent, thanks guys. i suspected as much, but wanted to be sure I know At&t phones work fine on my network, so should be no issues
i have my x10a rooted and on the 2.3.3 the x10i version. i was just looking at this forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=936733 and there is a version now for the x10a. should i flash my phone to that one or not? Is there a difference between them.
And also. My x10 has been laggy/slow recently and i was wondering how i can my make my phone smoother and faster.
thanks in advance
Has no practical significance for work of the device, X10a or X10i firmfare was flashed.
For improvement of parameters of work of the device it is possible to install one of leading ROM's, for example, ThGo2, v10
how do i do that?
