[Q] Sms backup? - Hero, G2 Touch Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

What do you guys use to backup your SMS'S when you switch rom's?
I'm using elelinux 2.2 and going from 1.8 > 1.9 but no matter what tool I use to restore my sms's the messaging app just freezes and says unresponsive until I reboot the phone, I have a feeling this has to do with restoring around 8000 texts but I need to know how to do it ><
Help appreciated =D

i often use My back Up pro .. & it gives me a good results always .

Download WaveSecure from the market !

Titanium Backup also restored sms/mms.
What tools have You used anyway ?
cheers!

[Q] Backup and restore not quite working?

Hey, after i updated to 2.1 i attempted to restore alla my data I had previously saved with the built in SE Backup and restore. When I open my contactbook no contacts appear, if I click on Favorites though there are 6 contacs as it should be. If i go in to the message app all my messages are still there, with contact names and numbers displayed, even though my contactbook shows no contacts?? Sort of like the contacts are there but won't display...
Also no applications were saved =(
Did this happen to anyone else? Anyone got a fix?
Thanks in advance
Hey !! i believe that you must have used the old version of backup and restore !!
SE has released a new version of backup and restore, with backing up market application and stuff !!
well.. this info may not be of any use to u know as u are already in 2.1..
But as for me, who is still in 1.6, I downloaded the new backup and restore and installed in 1.6 it has got market backup, etc...
may be to all those who are going to update to 2.1 by using the flash method from XDA must use this to backup ...
http://w ww.sonyericsson.com/update/backupandrestore/xperiaX10?lc=en&cc=gb
And it is always nice and better to restart from ur phone once u finished the backup !! hehe just my advice !!!
I restored my Contacts successfully. Here what I done
1) Reset to factory default
2) After the phone restarts I did not do any setup. I skipped all including email and contact setup.
3) Left the phone idle for 30 mins so things could settle.
4) Went to Backup and Restore and selected only Contacts and call log (No messaging or other Stuff)
5) Done. After 99% it says it done but my contacts got restored.

[Q] Need some answers

Helloo
I am new here and to android, bought my first android phone ever just few days back ,i have read and spent time reading and searching stuff here and gotta say i learned a lot in just few days but there are few things i didnt quite understood...
Q1, i knw the difference between odex and deodex read here but i wana ask, what are the main benefits of deodex ? is it that we can install theams and other stuff like that on stock with it? or smething else ..
Q2: i have tried successfully coderrom and blackhawk and i was able to restore my apps data with titanium backup but i tried cyanogenmod kang rc1 and was not able to restore anything is it not possible or any particular way to restore? i wana restore my call history , messages, contact etc usuallstuff.
Q3: the clockwork backup can it be restored directly above any rom ? if i am running cyanogen or coderrom and want to go back to my old backup just in case should i just restore my old backup directly ? or i have to flash the stock first and then apply backup(this is how i did for now tho)
Q1 - yes, for themes.
Q2 - I restore my backups pretty fine. But not messages and contacts. For contacts I the google account so it automatically restores. For sms I use Go Sms Pro inbuilt function.
And Q 3 yes, any rom.

is that dialer a part of touchwiz in stock roms ? if so can it be installed on cyanogenmd ? one more thing i saw cyanogen dont have task manger also tried to restore it but titanium got stuck in it nothing happned so finalyy restarted my phone...

Stock x10mini pro Android 2.1 backup

Hi all,
I would like to ask you which is the best way to backup my x10mini pro (contacts, sms, mms ...) I dont need to back up apps. I know that this topic should be somewhere there but I was unable to find it.
After backup I would like to install Ginger Bread and restore my data. On my HD2 there is no problem with all that because I have rooted phone, but on the x10 mini pro Iam lost.
Thanks in advice

Well I used that program, but it just didn't backup my sms and mms. I am going to find another one ...
just hit advanced restore instead of restore with gosms and it will bring you the backuped data to restore
just use superbackup app

Messaging is crashing on new ROM

Hi everyone
First i'd like to say sorry for my english, because its not very good, but i hope we will understand each other
I installed my first custom ROM today, its a Jelly Blast from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=33769086
I used an app called "SMS Backup & Restore" from google play to save my messages. This app saves msgs in a .xml format. After installing this ROM i restored all apps with "Titanium Backup", got into "SMS Backup.." and tried to restore my msgs. It was a long process, almost an hour of waiting (i have over 9000 messages), but everything seemed to be ok. After this i got into messaging and all i saw was "messaging not responding"...
I tried to download Go SMS, but the same thing happens.
I really need these messages, can i do something with it?

You can restore SMS through Titanium Backup, you don't need a separate app for it. I think you should go back to stock, use Titanium Backup to backup SMS, flash it again, download Titanium Backup, select the backup and then choose restore data only. That's how I did it with all the roms I have flashed , including Jelly Blast.

[Q] Faster Method to restore message?

So, I often change from one phone to another and my SMS history is very important. So far I need to backup and restore 16k messages. I've tried sms backup & restore but it takes long to restore the sms and for the phone to read all the sms again once I open the messaging app.
So, anyone know faster method to backup and restore SMS?
ps : I'm using nexus 5

You can try Titanium Backup (only the paid version has sms backup). But if you have a lot of messages, it'll take a long time to restore, no matter what app you use (i think).
----
PS: You neet root to use TB.
16K? Jeebus... That's a sure way to make almost any phone start to get laggy. Why not save them to the cloud and only restore the last few months or so with SMS Backup and Restore? But yea, there is not gonna be a quick way to restore that many, no matter what method you use.
