Hero RUU for mac - Hero, G2 Touch Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys, maybe someone of you knows how to use Hero RUU on mac. I really need restore the official android 1.5 with no root.

There is no restore function for the MAC. You will have to use a virtual PC on a MAC to do this.

There was something called openRUU a while back for mac users,... Not sure what it does though....

Rom Upgrade on virtual machine?

Hi all,
I am running on MacOSX and I have a prophet.
Unfortunately I input a Kayser rom and now my Prophet does not recognize any touch gestures.
Is it risky to upgrade through a virtual machine?
Thanks for your reply or comments.
hi
no its not risky... i also did it on windows 7... i just install xp on my vm from microsoft... and then upgrad my prophet under xp... and its working fine...
greeze..
ps: r u using a mac or just install a mac on a normal pc... if you install it on a pc, can you tell me how to do it?? i want to try it on my old notebook.. thx...
thanks!
However I am wondering if your reply is good to me...
Your both system are windows...Do you think it changes anything if I am on Mac and open a virtual machine...
I will give it a try, post the result in half an hour...(I hope!)
i couldn't upgrade using vista initially, but after using vmware & installing win xp, it all went ok. done this a lot of time with no problem.
only thing is when you are doing in vm, make sure you are in the vm window while it is upgrading, if you change window back to your osx, the usb connection might be lost & screw the upgrade

Just got my Tablet. Want to root but PC is down, I have a Mac..is the procedure using Mac as easy or as good as the PC version? Any difference?

It's all straightforward and laid out. Take a look at the Android Development forum to see what else you may enjoy?
Any difference if use Mac vs PC method?
Ok just did it with Mac. I see something called SU Binary Updater, do I need to update that, is it related to root or something unsafe?

That's an update to the SuperUser "app." Go ahead and update it.
I think both are very similar.
Dunno if they are different, but the Mac-version worked without hiccups for me

Will the Mac technique of rooting prevent the 1.41 update?

[Q] Mac tutorial for S-OFF

Hi everyone,
Is there a mac tutorial for s-off? I really want to move up to ICS, but kinda wanna have S-off before I do.
Since the tool required for achieving S-Off is Windows only, your only option is to either install windows in Bootcamp or possibly a virtual machine, or use a Windows PC.

Any way to AT&T root with a mac yet?

I see in the root tutorial there are some exe files needed to run (I don't dual boot), is there any way to root on a mac yet?
You could try a virtual machine.

[Q] (Q) is there an all in one root tool for mac users

just wondering if theres a root tool for mac users and if not will one be coming anytime soon
mod can you move this to the right section just realized where i posted
I'm new to Samsung but I'm going to say no. Of all the reading I've been doing about Odin (I previously only used HTC devices) is that it is windows only. And if you are going to do anything with a Samsung phone you need Odin.
There were plenty of solutions for Mac with HTC as long as you knew the correct adb commands with terminal. Going to have to setup boot camp on the old iMac downstairs to run windows. Still have a copy of XP. No way I'm wasting any disk space on my Mac air for windows.
I booted and rooted inside of parallels on windows 7 with ease. Only hiccup is I needed to move the files to a differebr folder other thanbmy documents
