Just downloaded this app and have to say its amazing. If anyone can help me setup a battery efficient and performance profile it would be.greatly appreciated . No clue how to work this app yet.

I used to set the profiles to drop the cpu to low levels while it's sleeping, but the three times I've tried with SetCPU v.2.0.3 it crashes on me, or more accurately it never wakes up from sleep, I have to hard reset.
Yeah started doing that exact same thing to me. Uninstalled and refunded... Not playing the freezing games.. Unless im underclocking too much any ideas?

You are probably underclocking too much. I tested with some various settings for the Screen Off and the only underclock that seems stable for the Screen Off (a.k.a. sleep) profile is 800MHz. Anything lower, and it will do this.

Don't set the minimum speed below 200MHz. The phone's stock minimum speed is 200, so anything below that can cause problems (wake up and freezing mostly). I've got my minimum at 400MHz and it's running smoothly.

Did you change the scaling from "conservative"?
i had all tons of issues when i changed the scaling, it would freeze every 30-60mins, I read on here, that it will cause a lot of issues, and should be left on "conservative". I tried that, i am running JAC's OC/UV kernel-no voodoo-no colorfix. OC'd to 1.2ghz, and have been solid for 4 days.
Works! Thx.

200mhz and 1200mhz - Normally
200mhz and 600mhz - Screen Off

Oh yeah...good point. I should have thought of that too. It even says on SetCPU's download page "Galaxy S devices: use conservative scaling."

I just uninstalled setcpu because it was really draining my battery. i tried all kinds of settings but it was sucking my battery dry. now my battery life is good again...

How do I change the default voltage settings on extreme? Right now, my phone won't run 1.4ghz on 1175. I was hoping to increase that to 1180 or above so that it can be stable.
I ran the stress test on setcpu for like 1 hour and it was stable, but after I ran quadrant, it crashed and locked up my screen. I think I only need a little more voltage to make the setup stable.

That only changes the frequencies, not the voltages. Or does it also.change voltage?

It also changes voltages depending on which mode you select.

I have a rooted photon with no custom rom just rooted would this app help me to save battery can anybody testify?
Sent from the best MoPho
If you underclock the phone it will save battery life. And you should be able to do that, however, I know you have to be unlocked with the custom kernal to overclock, so the same may apply to underclocking but if not. You can save some battery life with "ROM Toolbox" setting the CPU to Powersave and lowering the Max CPU. I do it generally when I'm sleeping. My two cents.
As long as a kernel doesn't have a perf lock I'm sure it can be underclocked. With SetCPU you can set profiles, so I could see the chance of saving battery if you were to set a screen off profile to run at the lowest mhz your phone will tolerate. I've done this on both my Hero and Evo when I had them and it worked wonders. I have yet to try with my Photon as I just got it yesterday and want to see how stock performs so I have something to compare to. I say try it out and give us some results! lol..
Good idea and trying out now
.....will be back.

Tried this stock kernel rooted, and the under clock didn't seam to take effect when you go into the advanced options it still showed the CPU going up to 1GHz.
Sent from my MB855 using Tapatalk
I don't think the stock kernal supports cpu modding. I could be wrong though.
Sent from my Photon via XDA
Underclocking does not work with the stock kernel. You'll need to unlock your bootloader and flash a custom kernels to both over/underclock.
Yep after one day of testing my battery was dying quicker! Uninstalled I might unlock it but losing 4G to me is not worth it right now.
Sent from the best MoPho
Yeah. If you use 4G often I wouldn't. But supposedly there is a work around.

In the Dev section, I believe there was a thread with some stock tweaks, where you didn't have to flash a rom or unlock or any of that jazz. You might try looking there. I know some of that stuff was kinda cool.

theres a app in the market called system panel lite it shows you the process of both cores and the photon does underclock while idle on its own the app also shows the cpu usage in real time my stock kernal went to around 246 mhz with that app running and just fyi the other core is only used ondemand..
It appears to be working just fine on mine. I'm also using the 198 leak and rooted.
would like to gain more insight on using the Navenedrob's cpu frequency on my droid x2...maybe im just missing a thred ere so i apologize in advence, just looking for any and all info thanks again
We can't overclock unless we get a custom kernel so that app won't do you much good. I think you can still underclock if you really want to though.

1000 refers to mhz converted from 1.0ghz referring to processor speed...so you can play with the processor from 0 mhz to 1000mhz. Although you arent getting exact numbers because of the conversion rate and the processor capacity its pretty close.
My best score, so far, is
What's yours?

Just being nitpicky here, but your not technically "running" moonshine soff. Its just a method to gain soff, not something that runs on a phone that could contribute to benchmark scores outside of allowing you to overclock and run a custom kernel.

Well, if we are going to be 'nitpicky,' I never mentioned that moonshine contributed to the benchmark score although it did make everything else possible (such as Sense 5 and a custom ROM) - so I thought it 'deserves' a mention.
Further, still going with 'nitpicky,' the correct way to say is you're not technically.. not as you said "your not technically 'running'...".
Anyway, I just recently tried the Beastmode ROM and have gotten a solid 19K.

I use antutu to test out cpu voltages. So I've definitely seen this auto shutoff. If antutu cuts off, i add more voltage.

I attached my latest score, 19.2k.
I was wondering about voltages, I'm running Nos M7 with BM (Nos Repack). I don't see a way to change the voltages, do I need a different app for that? I have SetCPU Pro and Antutu Overclock Pro. In neither of them can I change voltages. I also noticed if I do anything higher than 1672Mhz, it freezes and shuts off. I'm sure with the changes to the voltages, I'd be able to get a higher clock. I'm just not sure where I can change that..?

I use system tuner pro for voltage control. I've never used set cpu pro or the antutu one. Maybe post something in the kernel thread for BM cuz i'm not sure why u wouldn't be able to set ur voltage with SetCPU. Maybe has to do with it being a Nos Repack (not really sure what that means)?

Most all of these variances are thermal/throttling related. Play around with your thermal settings if you know how and really care about these silly scores. I can hit 22k on stock kernel repeatedly after making some thermal tweaks.

Hello, my problem is, eveytime i use the phone it is freezing! E.g. I go to the internet and have to wait 30 seconds before i can type anything and then it is still slow as hell (if you excuse the word). My bootloader is unlocked and i am running the GX 5.1.1 rom. I am not new to flashing roms and i have already flashed dozens. I would like to know what is slowing down the phone, even though i am using just one app at a time. And i would like to ask you how to fix it and maybe suggest the most stable/fast rom. My background process is always on 2 and my cpu settings are as follows: Max 1,3 Ghz min 100 governor: hotplug i/o scheduler: sio. I also dont have much apps installed, just the essentials and my synchronization is off. I am grateful for any advice, thank you!
Overclocking is NOT reccomend. Actually, it slows your device instead since your device is hot and it will underclock itself
Try 1000MHz and post a reply on the situation again.

Actually, i turned it down to 1 Ghz the other day, to save battery and have not changed it since, so i know that is not causing the problem. I forgot that part, sorry. The phone does this with a lot of roms, maybe not from the start, but after a week or so it eventually slows down quite a bit.
Hmmmm...... Might be the rom. Try flashing stock (?)
