hi. someone know if there is a way to delete the android market search history of my htc hero. I am up to 150 search items...i am sure its using some of my memory ....somewhere on my phone. If at all, possible, i hope never to do a master reset.
Its such a tiny amount of data being stored somewhere, its not even worth worrying about.
Take one picture with the camera and you would blow away the amount of data the search history is taking.
joe's right, it really is a tiny amount, but if you really want to you clear the data in home, menu, settings, applications, manage applications, market
hardly worth it though....

Wrong. By using the settings or application management, you cannot clean that history. The only way is to wipe. However, if there are some ways to do it by rooting and then deleting something, I am not aware of that.

Didn't know that. oh well, yet another bug in the system.....
The silly forum rules don't let me post in the GreyBlur topic until I have more posts, so I have to post questions here:
Should I uninstall Adfree now that the "ROM" has adblocking built in?
The gingerbread keyboard was not installed when I did the system recovery flash of GreyBlur, and Swype is doing that crash every 2 seconds deal. What should I do to fix this?
And finally, is this "ROM" replacing GingerBlur?
Oh, and I think the Grey is nice, but I personally prefer black
Thanks for your hard work kenneth!

Yes you shouldnt need adfree now. Fix crashes by going into cwm recovery go to advanced and click fix permissions to fix swype or any other app crashing. No its not replacing gingerblur hes gonna be working on both now.
Sweet, thanks. Is there anyway I can get the gingerbread keyboard installed like it was in the previous version just as a backup? Should I just use one of the miscellaneous apps on the market?

Kenn just added a zip to install separately for the gingerbread keyboard since people were requesting it.
Unfortunately the deal with "Fix Permissions" didn't work, but I can just install the gingerbread keyboard, uninstall all the swype stuff, and then reinstall now that I can type my user info xD

why?
do you think that the hosts file that ken has put out will magically update itself everytime there are new ad urls? there is nothing wrong with keeping adfree as it is a good way to make sure you have updated hosts file

Well fix permissions doesnt always work but does most the time when you have crashing issues. Oh well...
I hate the adblocking part, it screws with Admob and any app trying to use Admob. Infact I think words with friends reverted my hosts file because the first time I ran it, it came up with it encountered an error and needed to restart immediately after I installed Adfree..
Huh, I never had a problem when I was using Adfree with Gingerblur, on Words with Friends it just showed a blank screen on the ad breaks.
Adblocking?
Hello,
I´m just wondering if there is any way for me to remove the adblocking option? I wanna get free warbucks in gunbros and the only way to do this is by allowing their ads.
Webtop or Media library not working on greyblur?
As much as everyone hates on motoblur theres one thing that im missing now that i flashed to greyblur...
When i connect to hdmi i only have the built in HDMI mirroring which in all honesty is quite useless because it only appears in the center of the screen and doest not rotate when the phone rotates.
I was wondering if theres a way to get back the webtop or multimedia function to play videos through hdmi or if theres something about the mirroring i dont know.
thanks any help would be much appreciated
Hi everyone,
This is my first post and definitely noob question:
Is there any way to automatically clear application caches? I normally use CacheMate for Root Users app. I have Tasker and Llama installed so was wondering if I could clear app caches using a schedule say using Tasker.
Again, this is a noob question so thanks a lot in advance for your response.
I am running a ZTE Blade with stock Froyo rooted with z4root.
Thanks again.

Actually I found this solution on google groups, involving Tasker and a shell script. Seems to work perfectly!
https://groups.google.com/forum/?fromgroups=#!topic/tasker/yZ_g4x4KURA
Using the event 'Display off' as a trigger for the script that removes all cache. My ray seems nice and fast now... Of course it will take longer to launch any app now after the screen has been off, but at least the interface doesn't become super slow anymore now.

any ideas?
My built in task killer is being super aggressive recently. When I first had the phone, pressing the "Clear RAM" closed around 5-10 applications and left me with ~350-400MB of used RAM. I installed system tuner pro (which is now uninstalled), but ever since I had installed it, my task killer is now closing 20+ applications, and my used RAM is getting down to 200-250MB. I can never get it down to "0 applications closed" anymore and the lowest I got was "3 applications closed" over and over again.
Normally, I wouldn't really care so much, but what I'm getting annoyed with is that doing that seems to disable NoLED and I suspect it's messing with SetCPU. SetCPU shows 702/192 on the widget, which is what I had it set to, but if I open SetCPU, I see 1836/192 at the top, but the scrollers are still 702/192. Anyone know what the heck is going on?

No, it doesn't.
My problem is that the stock task manger kills my alarm clock & battery widget. Which I really need....
Ever since I have swtiched to Advanced Task Manger and I honestly love it over the stock one. I even set it to auto kill when I turn off the screen.

I read the OP. My statement stands. Auto, built-in, or third party, task killers are more harm than good.

And yet still remain necessary for malfunctioning apps or those that stay running even when you back out of them and consume way too many resources, harming your battery life. C:Geo is my example. It doesn't always shut down properly and likes to drain my battery when I'm not using it unless I force quit it.
Another good example: Voxer likes to get "stuck" almost constantly. Only way to fix it is by force quitting and starting it up again.
While I agree that users shutting down apps constantly with a task manager to clear RAM does more harm than good, they still have their purpose and are a handy thing to have on any phone OS.

So the answer to OP is then to stop hitting the "Clear Ram" button.
Honestly, What is the point of a phone having this much ram, if you aren't going to let apps use it?
When you hit the home button, what android does is save the current state of that app and lays it to rest in the ram. When you go back to that app, it will pull it from the ram and bring it back from that state.
The app is not running in the background unless it's intended too.
So johnus is right. If an app gets stuck, or it is using your cpu and there is no real way to close it, that's what an app killer is really meant for.
Case closed now?

So I notice an issue with the task manager and you're basically suggesting I ignore it by not using very function I want to use?? That makes no sense and offers no solution to the problem whatsoever. I understand the concept of RAM and how it's used; I'm not new to this. The answer to my question is NOT to simply not use it

Well it is... Samsung goofed up by not letting you select items to ignore.
Just use something else if you must.

Some people just think their logic is law and their needs are the same as everybody. I use task manager for several things. Many that the previous poster mentioned and others. I'm sorry open but I can offer no assistance as I've never wandered past the stock task manager. But I will follow this thread as I am interested in the functions you mentioned.

Well samsung goofed up with the black crush issue also, but that doesn't mean I should stop using youtube, netflix or viewing black photos on my phone. With that kind of logic, lets just tell every to just stop using their phones because bugs are always going to exist everywhere, but there's no reason to fix it, because no one will ever use an app that's not perfect...right?

I have an issue with Google Navigation lately where it doesn't do the names of the streets anymore. I have purchased SVOX and even it doesn't. I have tried installing and uninstalling, clearing cache, etc. I am running MeanROM 6.5 and don't really want to go through the hassle of redoing the whole darn phone... suggestions would be appreciated.

By "names of the streets" I assume you mean spoken street names. That's most likely because you're missing or have corrupted your TTS apk.

You mean it doesn't speak the street names? I know it sounds dumb but is the volume up and is voice turned on in the settings?
I always keep voice off cuz it annoys me and my music is always full blast anyways.
