i received phone from T-mobile Slovak Republic, after power on it hang on this screen:
HERO CVT SHIP S-ON
HBOOT-1.76.0007 (HERO10000)
MICROP-010f
TOUCH PANEL-SYN0104
RADIO-6.35.08.22
Aug 4 2009,19:43:30
RUU
at the botom of the screen is picture with crossmarked chip.
I downloaded original ROMs from this forum and tried to flash them into Hero but some of them does not detect connected Hero and the others says:
Checking custom ID...
Update fail!
on PC Error 131 Customer ID error
Is there any way how to get this phone working ?
Tnxs
You can extract ROM from RUU tmobile and flash it by using fastboot,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=714519
use this metod but take tmobile ruu from shipped-roms.com
Moved to Q&A as not development
i take rom.zip from RUU instalation renamed to HEROIMG.zip, format memory card to FAT32 etc etc... when i put into phone press down key + power on but nothing change... phone enter HBOOT screen and hang on, when i press HOME or BACK button nothing change...
What is wrong ? What type of RUU flash file i must use ? I havent got T-mobile Slovakia flash file, only DE, UK, PL...
Maybe your VOL- button is stuck?....
volume - button was ok before...
any idea?
Can you get it to fastboot flash (from fastboot on pc command line)? I know it won't flash, but it should help see if it is responsive.
What does it mean "from fastboot on pc command line)" i dont know this way...
tnx ROpa

Hello.
I tried to update with the ROM from SD card, but it failed.
My phone doesn't boot after that - it hangs up showing just splashscreen and some info -
ONBL 1.07.0000
SPL 1.10.0lip
GSM 02.71.90
OS 1.8.0.0
Hard reset didn't help.
I tried to flash ROM through RUU (device still goes into bootloader by pressing camera+reset/power), but it said
ERROR [200]: Invlid Update Utility
Please get newer Update Utility
Is there any way to flash my device? =\
btw, sorry for my english, i know that it's quite bad )
You need to first patch your HSPL and then flash a custom ROM.kindly read the ROM Upgrading Guide properly in the GENE forum.you can also find the link in my signature.

If you are talking about that method -
Step 5: Use the Orefkov Unlocker
------------------------------------
1. Remove the battery, SIM card and SD Card of your phone and press the Power key for 20 seconds to draw out any residual power from the phone.
2. Replace the battery but not the SIM and SD card, and don't start the phone yet. Press and hold the Camera button and then press the Power button or Soft Reset button. Phone will come to boot loader mode (tricolor screen) and SPL 1.10.Olip will be displayed.
3. Connect the USB cable. The text USB will appear on the bottom of the screen.
4. On PC, go to the folder Orefkov in the folder extracted in step 1 and run the Mtty1_42.exe. Press the button "USB" in the window that opened.
5. In the window that opened, type the following command (don't use copy paste please) and press enter:
Code:
set 32 1
You'll see a response from phone.
6. Type the following command BUT DON'T PRESS ENTER YET:
Code:
ls boot.bin
Note : that is small L and small s in that command, dont mistake it with I.
Now, hold down the Camera button on phone, and press the enter key on computer. After a while, the screen will become White. Continue pressing the Camera button for 10 more seconds.
7. Now release the camera button, close the MTTY program and run ROMUpdateUtility.exe in the same folder, not the one outside it. That one is for RAM flashing that we will use later. Check the boxes in each step and click Next Next and then at last Update. Let it finish the process. Your phone will restart.
8. Now on the splash screen you'll see the info with updated SPL version. The version of SPL will be 1.07.Oref.
Congrats! you have successfully patched your SPL.

then it didn't work.
Mtty connects to the phone, it even says that bootlader patched, enters the "White screen" but RUU that is situated in the "Orefkov" folder says still the same: ERROR [200]: Invalid Update Tool
And btw, Orefkov method is for new gene only, am i right?
And I have an old one. And it's already have 1.10.0lip SPL, that allows custom ROM flashing.

Now u can Flash Any custom rom from here(just No stock roms)
Problem was solved by deliting Active Sync, cleaning registry with CCcleaner and installing Active Sync after that...
I think that there was some driver problem or smthng >_<
Hi,
I'm new here, I searched the forum but didn't find answers.
I have a rooted HTC Legend with CM 7, but I'm trying to understand the logic behind the rooting process.
The main questions are:
1. (Correct me if I'm wrong) I noticed that "step1-windows.bat" script is flashing a testimage.zip, which appears to be a RUU 1.31 (with rooted recovery).
In this case, If it installs RUU 1.31, why do you have to install the RUU_Legend_HTC_WWE_1.31....exe before that?
2. Why do you need to install HTCSync 2.0.33 (Old version) instead of the new HTCSync before the actual rooting process?
3. When I have a 2.1 un-rooted device with 0.43 HBOOT, can I follow the "Already OTA updated with HBOOT 1.00" section of the following guide, to root the phone instead of the regular method?
(I know it says "Already OTA updated with HBOOT 1.00", but I thought to myself that if it works with HBOOT 1.0, why shouldn't it work with HBOOT 0.43)
Many thanks
I un-rooted my phone, and then I managed to root my phone without using the RUU 1.31 exe, and without using step2-windows.bat...
then I used a fake flash CWM recovery to flash CM7 rom (so I didn't even need to install htcsync 2, because the phone wasn't connected to the computer at this point) (p.s. in this whole process I didn't use a GC and it worked just fine, maybe because I didn't run the RUU exe?)
anyway, I'm confused.. why advanced users wrote in all the root guides to install the ruu 1.31 exe, and running step2-windows.bat if it wasn't necessary?
I'm the only one replying to this post
Anyway, here are the steps I did to root my phone successfully: (In my opinion it's easier than the regular methods)
1. Verify the newest HTCSync is installed on your computer (http://www.htc.com/uk/SupportDownload.aspx?p_id=313&cat=3&dl_id=1073)
2. Connect your phone to the computer as a removable storage
3. Go to Settings->Applications->Development , and verify “USB debugging” is checked
4. Download the fake flash and put it on your SD card (http://www.mediafire.com/?jtzjvxjemzx)
5. Download a Custom ROM of your choice and put in on your SD card (Recommended is CM7: http://download.cyanogenmod.com/get/update-cm-7.0.0-Legend-signed.zip)
6. Download and UnRAR rooting tools to C:\root (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=UZBQOFKM)
7. Open CMD on your computer (Start Menu->Run->CMD) and run the following:
a. c: & cd\root & crackin.bat
8. After it’s done verify you see the following line: “crwxrwxrwx … /dev/mtd/mtd0”
(If you don’t – try to re-run the command)
9. Turn off your phone and turn it on by pressing the “power” button combined with the “back” button
(Verify you see on a “Fastboot” line with red background)
10. Open CMD on your computer (Start Menu->Run->CMD) and run the following:
a. c: & cd\root & step1-windows.bat
11. Once the phone is back up – unplug your phone from your computer
12. Navigate using the volume buttons to “BOOTLOADER” and select it by pressing the “power” button, then navigate to “RECOVERY” and select it the same way
13. Once in recovery (black background with red triangle), press “volume-up” button combined with the “power” button, and then navigate using the volume buttons to “Apply sdcard:update.zip” and select it by pressing the “power” button
14. You should see a new menu – use the optical touch button to navigate and press it to select the following:
a. wipe data/factory reset
a. wipe cache partition
15. Use the optical touch button to navigate and press it to select “install zip from sdcard”:
b. Select “choose zip from sdcard” and then select the custom ROM you’ve placed on the sdcard
16. Use the “power” button to go back, and select “reboot system now”
(Did all the above without a GC in my phone - and I have a branded phone)
It would be great if some experts could comment on it thanks

Hi,
Thanks for the feedback.
Running cracking.bat and step1 have worked?
[Cause I think I got this error only when I tried to run the update.zip without doing step1 (Which I think is responsible for rooting the recovery)]
and what do you mean by downgrade to 2.1? Did you mean running the 1.31 RUU?
i have been trying to root my phone for about 3 days now . i have so many damn files and pages and websites going i am NOW totally confused .
who on these boards has an easy to understand step 1 through whatever to ROOTED tutorial ?
please i am begging for this !
Cheers

You ain't gonna get this, cause your Legend is running HBOOT > 1.XX
You need use VISIONary and temproot: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=11863394&postcount=2
Still, I agree that all the info on how to root the Legend is a bit fragmented.

Did you run step1-windows.bat with a GoldCard in your phone?
Because I've found that only phones with the following CIDs won't need a GC (I have K18 and that's why I didn't need a GC):
cidnum: HTC__032
cidnum: HTC__A07
cidnum: HTC__K18
cidnum: HTC__N34
cidnum: HTC__Y13

Never tried the method posted in this topic, and I I'm assuming that's what you're trying. Have you created a goldcard? Is you're Legend branded?
Do a search and you'll find all the info you need.

Until you get this fixed, on CM (which your signature implies you have) when you reboot the device you can choose normal/bootloader/recovery.
Or you can always connect the mobile to your comp, and with adb issue the following:
adb reboot [bootloader|recovery]

What "adb reboot [bootloader|recovery]" means is:
adb reboot (to normally reboot the phone)
or
adb reboot bootloader (to reboot into bootloader mode)
or
adb reboot recovery (to reboot into recovery mode)
The [] is "optional arguments" and the | is "or" (it's the standard way of writing commands and options in computers)
About LEGEIMG.zip method - it's a way to flash RUU ROMs, so it's not related to your problem.
About the update.zip you have on your sdcard, it's for the recovery menu? (Blayo's fake flash) because if so, I think when you're in recovery you'll need "vol up" + "power" to choose the update.zip, and that means that you're in trouble...
So you can: repair the volume buttons -or- SOFF your phone and then you'll be able to flash a CWM recovery (and you wouldn't need the update.zip anymore) -or- wait for someone else to post more ways to bypass the volume buttons usage.

If the phone doesn't start in normal mode, maybe you can reset to factory settings by running in fastboot mode:

Hi,
i´ve got an Legend with VF-branding that hangs in bootloadermode (S-ON; HBOOT 1.01)
In bootloader i can´t use any Key. nothing happend. If i start the device with vol down + power i came to HBOOT and if i start "normal" there came FASTBOOT.
Only thing what i can do is install ROM via usb-cable like official shipped ROMs.
I tried:
RUU_Legend_Froyo_S_HTC_WWE_3.15.405.3_Radio_47.51.35.17_7.13.35.05_release_160328_signed.exe

RUU_Legend_Froyo_S_Chunghwa_3.18.751.2_Radio_47.51.35.17_7.13.35.05_release_164781_signed.exe
(doesn´t work)
RUU_Legend_HTC_WWE_1.23.405.1_Radio_47.26.35.04_7.05.35.26L_release_120393_signed.exe
(wrong Bootloader Version)
and
RUU_Legend_Vodafone_AT_GER_Mobilkom_1.31.177.3_Radio_47.26.35.04_7.05.35.26L_release_126862_signed.exe
(wrong Bootloader Version)
If i insert an Goldcard i can flash the first three ROMs but only the first installed without errors, but the Legend hangs on white HTC Screen. If i restart it, i came back to bootloader.
Also i´ve tried to flash via SD-card. I´ve used
OTA_Legend_Froyo_S_Vodafone_UK_3.14.161.1-2.05.161.1_R_release_135177_1569.zip
and called it LEGEDIAG.zip / LEGEIMG.zip.
But after loading/checking i´m back in Bootloader HBOOT.
What can i do to fix that?
I think i need an VF-ROM with 3.15 Firmware but i does´nt found anything like this.
Hi All,
I've been using CM7 on my HTC aria for more than an year without any problems. yesterday i decided to do S-OFF my phone and followed the below mentioned steps
Post#84 of the following linkhttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1122574&page=9
For windows users using CM7:
Note 1: This is assuming you already have the SDK installed and know how to use ADB, that you have CM7 installed.
Prerequisites:
- USBDeview - http://download.cnet.com/USBDeview/3...-10614190.html
- HTC Sync - http://www.htc.com/www/SupportViewNe...73&news_id=907
- clockwork2501.zip - http://forum.xda-developers.com/atta...5&d=1305031790
- fastboot - http://forum.xda-developers.com/atta...9&d=1230278653
- HTC Aria 2.2 - http://member.america.htc.com/downlo...ROM_Update.exe
alpharevx - http://alpharev.nl/x/beta/
1. Download all of the items listed above.
1a. Make a NANDROID backup!!!
2. USBDeview...delete (uninstall) all HTC related drivers.
3. Install HTC Sync
4. Plug phone in and allow windows to install the drivers.
5. Boot into fastboot (while powered down, press and HOLD trackball button and power button).
6. plug phone in to computer and run the HTC Aria for ATT Android 2.2 ROM Update (2.2 RUU).
7. Once you get 2.2 installed, and booted into the ROM, run the alpharevx executable.
8. It should notice your phone right away (make sure USB Debugging is enabled!!) and do it's thing, and then ask you for your beta key (get it from website, with your serial number) and then it will reboot a couple times and you're good to go.
9. Once you've got your S-OFF, boot into the ROM.
10. Place fastboot.exe and clockwork2501.zip into the folder where alpharevx.exe is (if you don't do this, you'll get an error about a missing .DLL (which happens to be included in the alpharevx download)).
11a. Open up command prompt and change directory ("cd") to your tools folder for Android SDK. Run the first command under step 12 (adb reboot bootloader)
11b. Open up command prompt and change directory ("cd") to wherever your fastboot.exe is (i.e. cd c:\users\username\desktop\alpharevx). Now run the rest of the commands under step 12.
12. Run the following commands:
Code:
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot erase cache
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip clockwork2501.zip
fastboot reboot
12a. After "fastboot oem rebootRUU" your phone will be stuck at an HTC screen. This is when you should type the next command.
13. You should now be able to get into clockwork and restore your nandroid.
14. Boot into your CM7 and enjoy your S-OFF
This is going off of sheer memory but I am pretty sure it's exactly how i did it. If I have missed any steps or said anything wrong, someone feel free to correct me. If you have any questions, as always, feel free to ask.
Again, enjoy
+1 to alpharev team and whomever else made this possible!

thanks for your reply.
how do i check about fastboot? (tell me some commands that can run & check)
all i can say is, i'm not able to goto boot options-recovery (i.e clockworkmod). Before doing S-OFF,i had done a nandroid backup which i want to restore now.
I've tried many times to run "fastboot flash zip clockwork2501.zip". and also tried to download different version of clockworkmod recovery from the below link (for htc aria). none of them seem to work
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14693680&postcount=1
Open the clockwork2501.zip (from your computer) and extract the contents. You want the recovery.img file that is inside the zip file. Then, while the phone is in FASTBOOT mode and USB cable connected to computer, issue:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
If you don't know how to get to fastboot mode, the easiest way is to completely turn the phone off (pull battery if necessary), then hold down the trackball button and press power button, then release trackball button after the screen turns on.
the problem is i'm not able to get into either fastboot or hboot recovery bootscreen.
i took off battery, then hold down trackball , then pressed power button. still i get a black screen with "HTC" in the middle and "warning" triangles at the corners.
i took off battery, then hold 'volume -' button and then pressed power button. still i boot only into black screen with 'HTC' in the middle and triangles at four corners.
i get a feel that i still didn't install clockwork successfully. but the only problem is i couldn't figure out how to flash clockwork recovery. every time i try fastboot commands
Code:
fastboot flash zip clockwork2501.zip
or
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Code:

Just to make sure, you are continuing to hold down the 'volume -' button even after pressing power button, right? Don't let go too early. Also, make sure the USB cable is NOT plugged in while doing this. Plug the USB cable in after you're already in HBOOT or FASTBOOT.
If you're still having problems, I'd suggest attempting to run the official 2.2.2 RUU on your phone to see if it can revert your phone to a working state.

awesome! i re-installed HTC sync and ran the official 2.2.2 RUU exe file. viola i'm able to go into 2.2.2 and make calls , send text etc!! But, i still love my CM7. so i decided to do 'nandroid restore'. but i couldn't get into clockworkmod recovery screen
when i hold 'volume -' button and power on i see the following
Code:
LIBERTY PVT SHIP S-OFF
HBOOT -6.02.1002
MICROP-031B
TOUCH PANEL-STN21_03
RADIO-7.16.35.11
NOV 4 2010,23:12:58
HBOOT
RECOVERY
SIMLOCK ..
When i use volume keys and come down to 'RECOVERY' and press power button, i get some error screen (a black screen showing a small phone picture and a red triangle with exclamation mark).
i then tried the below two options.
1. rebooted the phone into 2.2.2 OS. enabled USB Debugging. Ran revolutionary.exe (it was handing in first step with message waiting for device) for a very long time. 15 mins after which i killed that in task manager.
2. rebooted phone. when into HBOOT. (waited for SD card diagnosis and then selected HBOOT via volume keys and then pressed power button). then connected USB cable and executed the following commands
Code:
c:\Downloads\HTC aria\Jun 2012\revolutionary-0.4pre4>fastboot flash zip clockwork2501.zip
< waiting for device >
^C
c:\Downloads\HTC aria\Jun 2012\revolutionary-0.4pre4>fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
< waiting for device >
^C
looks like i'm still not able to goto clockwork recovery/ and do nandroid restore.

Yeah, sorry if I wasn't clear, but even if you had CWM installed earlier, running the 2.2.2 RUU will remove it and bring you back to stock. I just told you to use the 2.2.2 RUU to bring the phone back to a working state. However, the RUU will NOT remove S-OFF, which is good.
The next step is to install CWM. I advise you to install the latest version, NOT the one you were previously using. The nandroid backup should still work fine. Here's what you should do:
Download 5.0.2.8 recovery (or a different one of your choice) here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=25490394&postcount=66
Put your phone into FASTBOOT, then connect USB cable, and then do:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery filename.img

Many Many thanks drumist. yes as soon as i tried recent CWM things started to work (i tried 5.0.2.8). now i'm doing nandroid restore. i will do some basic checking tonight and report back tomorrow(tomorrow i will mark the thread resolved). i'm pretty confident everything should be okay.
Hi,
I had rooted my HTC One X+ phone quite some time back, and had used a couple of custom ROM's.
Later I decided to install HTC stock ROM and installed HTC Sense 4 version by using ZIP file, through custom recovery. It was working fine.
I had got a message on the phone that an update is available for Sense 5 version (4.2.2 I think). I opted for the update.
After the update, the phone is stuck on HTC boot logo.
Since the phone was rooted earlier, and had installed some custom ROM's, I have TWRP installed on this device, which I can access. When I power on by pressing power ON button and VOL DOWN button, I am able to boot into the boot loader, which shows the following:
**********
***UNLOCKED***
ENRC2B_U PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT 1.72.0000
CPLD-None
MICROP-None
RADIO-3.1204.171.33
eMMC-bootmode: disabled
CPU-bootmode:disabled
HW Secure boot:enabled
MODEM PATH: OFF
HBOOT
< VOL UP > ......
< VOL DOWN > ....
< POWER > ....
FASTBOOT
RECOVERY
FACTORY RESET
SHOW BARCODE
IMAGE CRC
When I select RECOVERY, I can boot into TWRP Recovery Manager (TWRP v2.4.1.0 Venom)
I have options: INSTALL, WIPE, BACKUP, RESTORE, MOUNT, SETTINGS, ADVANCED and REBOOT
If I select INSTALL, I can see the file system; /sdcard directory is accessible
Under RESTORE I am not able to see file system or packages
Under MOUNT, I am having option to "Mount USB Storage". But this is not helping anything.
Under ADVANCED, I am seeing other options including TERMINAL COMMAND and ADB SIDELOAD
Now, the phone is not appearing as a device when I connect to PC Windows 8.1 (even when I try the "Mount USB Storage" as above). Also, when I connect the phone and try "adb devices", it fails to list the phone. I have installed HTC drivers including HTC Sync Manager. It starts up but says it is unable to connect to the HTC Phone (or no phone connected).
With this situation, can something be done to bring the phone to usable condition? Please let me know if any additional information is needed.
I would like to install HTC Stock ROM with Sense 5. I have a ZIP file for this on PC.
Please help.
Sanjay
Hi,
The problem is solved.
I referred to Lucky Thirteen's post and followed instructions using "Fastboot".
I flashed the boot.img file corresponding to the ROM and now the phone is booting and working normally
