[Q] micro-usb not plugging to the end - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i've got hd2 for 5 month and i've never really thought about it.
Is it common that usb cable is not plugging to the end?
There is half a milimeter space between phone and plastic part of usb cable.
If its not common can you tell me what is the problem??

mine too but the usb is working

Lol, it's supposed to be like that. I hope you didn't force it too much. Might damage it that way.

May try a large hammer to get it in all the way

it allows for clearance of the phone skins and it is normal.

thank you very much. I was scared a bit that I broke it and you helped me.
I appreciate it.

I have mine since November and I charge it everyday and still no problems with the port. So, I guess it's good quality despite of what it might seem.
Well dudes,
this is now reality, my USB plug is broken in the phone!
After more than one year recharging the phone everyday... the soldered points are broken, not possible to resolder by my own, damn!
It's a shame, I loved this nice looked phone.
I had a 3125 for a year (replaced it with a 8925). At first, the USB port was REALLY tight. Eventually it losened up a bit, but was always snug. Just be careful with it and it will be fine.
Sil51, PM me if you're interested to sell your phone.
I've seen several 3125's on eBay with broken USB ports so it's not that uncommon.
Ciao,
mine broke on the first day of use, my girlfriend's and a friends StrTrk too, you have to be !DAMN CAREFUL!
They still charge & sync, but the headset looses connection...

usb cable falls apart

Anyone else have this issue. The usb cable comes apart on the asus end(see pic)
P.s. this has never been abused and was treated with the the greatest of care

Nope, maybe try a tiny dab of superglue?
Well I know it is an easy fix I just thought it was kinda weird and wanted to know if I was the only one who had this problem
Yup happened to me. But on the other side. The USB side. Cant sseem to attach the pic from my tfp
i had this happen to me right out of the box! plugged the device in to charge then unplug after full charge then this happened.

Yes! It's a piece of crap! And I tried to RMA to Asus but they want the bad one back and then they'll send out a new or fixed one. So how is a person supposed to charge the tablet with no power cord? Very disappointing, Asus! They've sent me several follow up surveys to the phone calls and emails and I've told them how I feel about this. They don't seem to respond after that... Haha! Oh, well. The superglue route is probably the best way to go, anyhow.
My cable came apart like that the first time I used it. I carefully removed it from the connector on my tablet so as not to damage any wires, and then pushed the cap back on until it clicked and it hasn't come off since.
I think the problem is that the black cap isn't properly seated over the connector on some charging cables so the little clips on the inside never engaged. I have a half dozen chargers for the TF Prime and 3 were like this.
This is definitely something that might scare you the first time you try to unplug your connector, but it isn't a huge problem unless you rip out the wires or something.
My wife's did this the first time we unplugged it. I used a few drops of super glue on it and it has never come apart again. Mine on the other hand never had the issue. I think there was a batch of the plugs that they never put the glue on them so they weren't sealed when they got shipped. Put a few drops of glue on it and seal it up and enjoy the full use of the USB plug

usb/charging port

has anyone gone through issues with their usb port? this is going to be my third time fixing it, if i even fix it at all. buying boards just for the usb is pretty frustrating since i usually havre to buy a complete phone for it. i actually have just the usb ports themselves but it didnt work out too well the first time. very small soldering. anyone else had theirs go bad more than once?
micro usb port fix
yes, it takes insane soldering skills to fix one. but instead of buying a phone just for the port you can get a replacement micro usb port on ebay for a few bucks. once you solder the new one on you can coat the pins on the board with a hot glue gun or any other solid adhesive for strength. once the job is done try to remember phone ports are delicate and should be handled with care and you wont have a problem again.

htc never got this hot

Just a little jab at our S3 owning friends..http://www.theinquirer.net/inquirer/news/2186006/samsung-galaxy-s3-handset-catches
mmm I wonder if Apple is already preparing another lawsuit against Samsung. After all they came first with their exploding iPhones!!
The link is broken but we all already know the article...
I'm 99% sure that this isn't samsung's fault but instead the user's. Also, the HTC One X has done this before.
See, all the of the damage was near the usb port. If a cheap charging cable shorts, this can happen easily. I know it said he never had USB plugged in, but he wouldn't get a refund if he said he was using a cheap charging cable so he probably lied. Also, why would the USB port randomly blow up and not the battery? It would be impossible for the USB port to blow up without a shorted/malfunctional charging cable inserted.
Maybe he really did have no charging cable in, if that's the case, it's a manufacturing defect.
If you're making hundreds of thousands of phones, you can expect one or two to be defective like that. And since this has happened with almost every phone (even our 3D's), you can't bash one manufacturer for it.

I'm much more inclined to believe this. The damage is too concentrated and nowhere near where I'd expect it to be if it was actually a heat problem. I'm glad Samsung rushed to shut him up to prevent any sort of media backlash, but I really, really don't believe that he had nothing to do with what happened.
Maybe not intentionally, at least.
No matter who the manufacturer is I could just imagine the shock of seeing an article like this and the mad rush of trying to cover it up or quickly put a different spin on the whole event especially this early in a release. I'm sure there is a whole lot of finger pointing going on. I know it's only one phone but if we see some more....
If he had it in an in-car holster (as stated) im pretty sure he had it plugged into the charger (using nav or something) so it prolly was a faulty charger. A USB port doesn't explode without anything plugged into it. Only the battery can explode which obviously that's not the case. My question is why would u spend money on the lastest phone and then shortchange urself buying a cheap Chinese car charger?

[Q] Charging Port bugs

I have a issue where when i plug my charger in it doesnt do anything.. but if I bend the charger down it works fine. Do i need to bend the pin in the phone up with tweezers?
I read around where If you have this issue with the charging port then its gone. But my phone still charges fine. I dont want to go poking and bending and break something and it doesnt charge at all.
Just a little advice.
I have the rogers galaxy note I727r
Try a different cable first. They wear out and loosen quicker than the port. Do not go poking and bending or you will be replacing the usb component on the phone for sure.

i tried 5 different cables and one of which is the official samsung cable... no dice.
It sounds as if you need a charge port repair .....but
Before the device goes out .....try this ....
With a very small and flat object .....you can slightly bend the outer edge of the charge port on the side that does not contain the joining seam, or break in the port ...
The slight bend will tighten the cable tip, as it slides into the port, and create a better contact patch...
But be careful !!!......as you can damage the port if you get too aggressive ....
The bend occurs on the long flat side of the device port ...opposite the port seam ....g
P.S.....Proceed at your own risk ....but it worked perfect for me ...g
Just remember, your phone is under warranty. Might just be better to let them take care of it. But if you get brave here is the part:

Not that difficult to get to either. There are a few videos on youtube for disassembly instructions.

i boughtit as a used phone.. is there a picture that you can show the outer edge?
If you contact Samsung instead of ATT your warranty should be honored still. But it would be cheaper to buy the board and fix it yourself then to pay for shipping to a samsung repair center unless you have one nearby. I have no better pictures of the usb port.
Nor do I .....
If you hold the phone while looking into the charge port ...( screen up )....
The part you slightly bend is the bottom of the charge port ...
Don't pry against the case ....just slightly bend the bottom portion up .....with a small tipped object ..
A dull knife tip works well .....g
Yeah.. two mornings ago, I woke up to a phone in it's dying throes of battery life.. having been on the charger all night.
It's been a little touchy with certain cords for the past month or so but now, it doesn't matter which of the many available charger cords I have, from brand new to the original - none of them make the phone thing to charge or connect it via USB to a computer.
It's dead Jim.
