I partitioned my SD card. I did the one click root. I didn't have lag fix. I had Rom Manager. I partitioned my SD card. And all. I had the different lock screens thing installed and stuff.Everything was working. I then partitioned and now it wont like work. It starts up. The T-Mobile star up screen. THe Giant glowy S to. Then it just goes black. I wait for awhile try the lock screen and stuff. Nothing works. Stays black. The buttons light up when i press them But nothing turns on on the screen. What do i do? Did i brick?
I can still go into recovery. Not clock works recovery anymore though.
First, this should go in q and a as its a q. Second, did you partition using rom manager? Because thats a nono. Its usually fixable using odin, click repartition in odin using the stock rom.

<_< Q/A thread. u in wrongz pace.
Yes i did. And i don't have ODIN?
Look for the bible thread in this forum. All links are in there. You need a windows pc. Download odin, the stock rom, and the usb drivers. Install the usb drivers first. If you are using windows 7 right click odin and run as administrator. Put the phone into download mode by pulling battery put back in, hold up and down volume buttons (do not touch power) then plug in the usb. If all goes well you will see the yellow triangle and the android digging. There is a good visual guide linked in the bible to show you how to set up odin. And hope you can get into dl mode. Some vibrants have a defect called hardware locked, but if you can get into recovery, you should be ok

Mod please move this to Q&A
Follow the post above but make sure you download odin 1.3 and you remove the sim and sd card from your phone, i found that helps eliminate problems in odin.
I'm sorry. I didn't mean to make the mistake of putting it here. Sorry.
I did that, But on ODIN it is stuck on
"Set Partition"
What do i do?
I do the restart thing w/o the repartition and it will get done. When it goes into the recovery to do the stuff.
It says Data Wipe failed.
What do i do???????? I'm so lostt!

Ok heres the deal, I tried a bunch of custom roms eventually leading to hybridv3 then I tried flashing with the Stock vibrant rom and that didnt work so I went to Vibrant4, then stupidly renamed the Stock vibrant rom to update.zip and used android recovery to update packages. Now my phone goes through the boot up but I just get a black screen. Is there any hope for me?
Your Fired! Lol..jk
I would use odin to reload the stock firmware.
I can't seem to get my Vibrant to show up on a com port, I have the pit and the tar files but my vibrant wont show up in odin.

I did something similar a while back. You may need to flask the stock rom via odin. The link to the thread for it is in the bible sticky in this section. Set up odin before you connect the phone to the computer. Also if you use windows vista or 7 you need to open odin by right clicking and run as administrator. For it to work you need to get the phone to download mode. Pull the battery, put it back in. dont touch the power button. Hold the up and down volume buttons and plug the usb into the phone when the other end is already plugged into the computer. It should be in dl mode. Good luck

trying now...
Odin is doing it's thing right now, Thank you so much!!
Just to recap since the correct information has never been added to an OP:
You must install ODIN and the correct USB drivers from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=7657252#post7657252 .
Get the phone into download mode. Several different instructions have been posted meaning either different versions of the same phone get into DLM different ways or everyone else is posting the wrong instructions.
What works on mine: Have phone off, ODIN open, and correct USB drivers already installed. HOLD vol up+vol down and plug in the USB, and do not touch the power button.
so i was wanting to load the bionix rom, so i did a nandroid on my last rom. bionix was "okay" so i decided i wanted to go back to my eugene rom.
so i use rom manager to load the old image, and while doing so it gives me some error that i should report to rom manager. i cant exactly say what it was. so i told it to reboot, but now im back on bionix, and all my apps are crashing. i cant get into the launcher or anything. so getting to rom manager was out of the question.
so i call my friend who says i probably need to load a stock image, which thats fine whatever. so i do some googlin' and i come across this method forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=734475 (new user..cant post links)
i try to follow the directions best i could. ive never used odin before. so for the "pit" i select the "samsung galaxy s firmware flasher" (which was the only file my computer let me pick) and for the pda part i selected t959uvjd.tar file they also had listed. also the instructions said i didnt need to select the other boxes (phone, csc, etc)
so i put it in recovery, hit start, after a few minutes my screen just shows the little android guy and a caution sign. odin still says "file analysis" and its been like this for about 20 minutes...
so....where do i go now? please be as descriptive as possible..apparently im still a lil green at all this
How did you get into recovery mode? Are you sure it wasn't download mode? Did you use the hardware way with vol up +dwn and power or did you use adb

i used adb to get into recovery. i figured out its not bricked. i restarted it and its doing the same thing. by that i mean it boots up, but all my apps are crashing still..so i guess i gotta figure out how to actually use odin to mount the stock image.
before you use odin, make sure you are hardware unlocked. I bricked one that was hardware locked using odin. Read, read, read.
The android guy and the caution sign is download mode, what you need to flash odin. Odin can be finicky. Once your in dl mode on your phone, unplug it from the usb cable, then launch odin and load the files. Reconnect your pc and you should see a com port light up in odin. If it doesn't light up, disconnect and reconnect again, or relaunch odin, reload the files and then reconnect the usb. Sometimes it takes some playing with it to find the right combo to make it work. After that its happy flashing time, you should see the progress under the selected com port in odin, kick back and wait for the reboot.
Be sure you have the GalaxyS drivers loaded on your pc too, your comp will never see your phone in dl mode without the drivers

Download mode for me is an android guy is IN a triangular caution sign & says "downloading..."
Stock recovery with the MENU button pressed shows me an android standing next to a caution sign. Think the op should clarify.

I do remember the little andriod guy and the caution sign from the one and only time i got stuck in stock recovery. I can't boot to it with any button combo, but the first time I tried to make an update.zip myself, well, yeah i got rebooted to stock recovery. My mind went to dl mode when I read the op, as thats what I have the most experience using, and luckily can boot to that way easily on my phone. I think you are correct G1, op may be booting to recovery mode and attempting to flash, when dl mode is whats necessary.

well origionally i was not in download mode, i only saw the screen i was talking about once, but i ended up actually getting it into download mode and using odin tried flashing the stock roms. it would hang everytime. the only rom i was able to get working was eugenes froyo port. its incredibly buggy and a whole lot of things dont work correctly on my phone. i tried the unlocking method to see if that helps, but my phone is really fighting everything i do right now.
but i do have a replacement coming, so im just gonna deal with a phone that wigs out whenever i try to do stuff for a few days.
I flashed a rom without voodo lagfix disabled so it messed everything so I reflashed the rom and it worked fine at first, everytime it turned off i had to re-flash a rom, so I decided to odin so it would work nomal and after the odin the phone boots then ges to black screen and only the touch buttons light up. I cant even get into recovery mode, only download. The phone just plays a little circle when trying to boot now. Also before I odined I formated the internal memory through setting-sd.. does that make a difference? Someone please help im terrified its a gonner..
Next time, these types of threads belong in Q&A.
Here's the fix I found in the BIonix thread. You were close by trying to use Odin, but you may want to try it in this order
"Did You Flash Something Before Disabling Voodoo? 2 Fixes to Help You Out.
So you forgot to disable the voodoo lagfix before you flashed a new rom and now you're getting an error, similar to the one posted below. Even Odin won't allow you to flash back to stock. Well, pay close attention and with some luck, you'll be good as rain...or something like that.
Fix 1:
1. Download Eugenes 'Froyo that does not brick' file.
2. Extract the files.
3. Open Odin, plug in your phone, then put it into download mode.
4. load the PIT file in appropriate area.
5. load the .tar file in the PDA area.
6. DO NOT check 're-partition'.
7. Click start, let it finish. Your phone will load and reboot into stock recovery. It will error out again. DONT panic! This is what's supposed to happen.
8. Now, pull your battery.
9. Download the 'True stock 2.1 firmware for the vibrant'.
10. Extract the files.
11. Once again, open Odin, plug in your phone, put into download mode.
12. Load the PIT file into the appropriate area and the .tar in the PDA area.
13. THIS TIME you want to check the 're-partition' box.
14. Now click start, let it finish, and this time your phone will load up just fine! BAM!
Fix 2: (use only if you know how to use adb commands)
1. Place the 'disable-lagfix' file in your sdk>tools directory
2. Get into clockwork recovery like you normally would
3. Follow these adb commands to push the 'disable-lagfix' file to you sdcard>voodoo
adb push disable-lagfix /sdcard/voodoo
4. File should now be on your sdcard in your voodoo folder.
5. Reboot phone and with luck, you should hear Linda the robot telling you your file system is being converted back to rfs.
6. Because your system directory has already been wiped, you'll still get a black screen when you reboot, but your file system is back to rfs. Just pull the battery, and reflash whatever rom you want. Then reboot again."
Any of the above files can be found in the Vibrant bible thread.

All you need to do is odin stock and if you get the black screen install the last kernel you were running, this happened to me back when I first got my phone using voodoo ocv4, you didn't brick so no worries.

Thank you
P.S. I hope you get the issues worked out.
Try the following: Get an odin version of voodoo*** (if you can't find one, it's not too hard to create one, let me know if you need help figuring out how to make one), then flash it. Hopefully from there you can get to the recovery, then adb push the disable lagfix file, then reboot the phone with the disable lagfix file in it until it tells you it's completed, then reodin to a working ROM.
***It's important that you odin in a working VOODOO kernel.
Ok i now Odined True 2.1 stock and it works however every time the phone turns off a little circle just keeps spinning there. and i cant do anything i try putting it into recovery but it goes straight to Download mode.
And it also says usb connected when it's not connected to anything..
I had the same issue with Voodoo, I fixed it flashing Eugenes Froyo that doesn't brick then back to Stock 2.1, Worked wonderfully. Its usually the fix for people that Soft Brick from Voodoo.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=740558
Do those steps then flash back to Stock 2.1 afterwards with Odin. Hope this helps.
Thanks ill try when I get home. Ive done the froyo to true 2.1 steps and I still can't restart or it screws everything up and I have to re-odin

Yeah for a little it was completely broke. I held volume buttons for like 2 minutes straight and it finally went into download mode. I've just got a rom flashed right now and im too scared to turn it off to see if it will work. Every time I do it, i get the little circle thing like its plugged in but it does nothing. Ill just leave it on till I find a solution.. No matter what thing I odin it doesnt fix the circle of death

My phone is stuck at the SAMSUNG boot screen part, it displayed the boot sound but that was it.
I downloaded the wrong phone version of this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=892297
I can't get back into my phone, is there anyway to restore what I had.
I made a titanium backup and a nandroid backup aswell.
I've made relatively stupid mistake like you. (Not that we are stupid, but Newbie @ this whole phone stuff).
The best way to unbrick the bricked phone is by reinstalling the rom, which will wipe out the data on your phone (but better than having bricked phone eh?)
This step only applies if your phone is "ROOTED"
Follow the instruction in this post
"http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=948679"
If you do exactly what is says you will have your phone back!
If you could, go over this in plain english for me.

Would doing a factory reset on the phone (via the button method) void any chance of flashing the TW rom?
You are probably still going to have to use ODIN to get your phone back.
Download the 3 files from the link in post #2
Open ODIN on your computer. Pull out battery from phone, hold DOWN VOL and plug phone into USB. Once ODIN recognizes your phone, click PDA and select the modem file and click start.
Once finished, put battery back in, hold UP VOL, DOWN VOL, and power to get into CWR. Select install zip from SDcard, choose zip, scroll down to the correct file and hit the power button to install the ROM.
Do step 2 for the CW package and reboot.
That should get you going.
