The problem:-
1- restarts many times.
2-randomly shut down when i open Wi-Fi or apps or use it for more than 5 mins.
3-can't turn on sometimes and can't turn on using charger , only pc companion.
4-Burning Smell.

and btw the phone works well when it's cold but it shut down when it's worm or using Wi-Fi or Calling . so to re-operate it you need to put it in air conditioner then but the battery back and switch on

i send it today to one of those small repair places , they said the IC's are burned because of short circuit or something like that so we'll see what will happen tomorrow.
it cost me around 100$ but it doesn't matter as long it work.
sorry to say it but you buy cheap, you get cheap. might have to shell out for some repair work or ditch it and buy a new one. hard luck man.

my friend I am sorry but there is no quick fix for something like this. To repair SMT type circuit boards you need a clean room environment and also some very expensive equipment. My advice is to get a new handset, there are a few people on here that need some parts for their phones and you can off set the cost of a new handset that way.

I don't agree with the first post, I had this problem too, and the problem was bad, but as soon I as I flashed with the latest firmware, that problem seems to have been fixed, gone by 2 days without any restarts.
i also have this problem.
The worse is now my charged battery will become red low batt at first and recharge itself back to normal without plug in power...i think i just solve the world energy problem here.
May have fixed the problem, for a bit.
I bought one of these used (x10a), I basically got ripped off by some guy that must have known about the issue. Anyway, I tore the phone apart down to the screen, I left that intact. I cleaned the housing, motherboard and sound jack with compressed air (lightly), cleaned contacts that looked a little dull. I noticed the foil covering the CPU and other components was a little askew and there were some heat bubbles forming. I used a mini spatula as a squeegee and got rid of the bubbles, cleaned up the edges around the foil to insure they didn't contact their neighbors and put the thing back together.
Before this I could use the phone for a call for longer than 2 minutes, the second I ended the call it would crash/reboot. Same with playing games and listening to music at the same time. Movies, forget it. I don't want to curse it because it has only been a day, but no crashes yet and I'm doing/running everything I can to try and get this thing to crash. If it was the bubbles contacting other metal in the chassis then they will probably return sometime in the future.
Who knows.
For now, I say it's fixed. I hope.
I downloaded the schematic and disassembly, reassembly instructions off the net.
UPDATE: Cleaning did not work, I really didn't think it would but it was worth a try. I did however rebake the main board in my convection oven for 10 minutes at 210 degrees Celsius and it worked. I have uploaded videos to youtube. If you're like me, no warranty and don't mind tearing things apart. Check out my videos on youtube, do a search for MrSpywhite.

That sounds like good news, I have a friend with a similar problem, but his phone has the same behaviour faster than yours... did really work? any problems after the bake? (mic, speaker) ?
Sorry for bumping in a old thread but I am also facing the same problem i guess. Anyone got it to work ?
The motherboard is costing me Rs.8000 ( 160$ approx ) and its a 2 yr old phone. Cant spend that much now on such an old phone.
This solution might help on that cases, as main reason for such things are Pb free soldering (small balls between CPU and MB).

So a friend of mine could possibly be selling me his x10 for a ridiculously low price, which I found out from another friend to be because of (possible) overheating issues because he tried overclocking the phone; and after trying to bring it back down to the original speed it still is overheating.
Before I get into something that would completely waste my money, is there a way for me to be able to fix it so it works normally or would this be something that I should completely avoid all together. Basically, I'd like for some tutorials provided that can help me rectify this problem.

It's possible it's just his battery that's shorted. Maybe another battery? That or the GPS chip runs constantly... I know mine heats up when the GPS runs at full. I also say try and flash the firmware back to a regular ROM (Without mods).
Those are my ideas. Otherwise toss it in the freezer! haha

Its a hardware fault. It will eventualy start rebooting, and after that it wil start shutting itself down or locking... i think its something with the pmu but not sure. If it has warranty send it to repair...

My Xperia started overheating and now its having very frequent restart cycles from several days. Is it a hardware fault in the Xperia X10?
At least on my first x10, it started like that, then only went worse. the first sign was when doing generous amount of traffic (heavy browsing, downloading some apps at the same time...) it started rebooting. After that it started doing it whenever it got network, during calls... even when reflashing.
So I would flash back to stock, then take it a day for a ride with.a backup phone. If it reboots even once, send it to repair...
I'm also experiencing the frequent reboot problem. It seems the best solution I've found was to send it back to SE for repair/replacement. That solution is unacceptable for me, as I spent $600+ for an imported x10a when it first was released, and as such, SE has deemed my phone "gray market" and I would need to pay for repairs.
I love my x10, but $800 for a phone that's still severely outdated and lacking some high-end functions is just not worth it.
I am convinced that the problem stems from a faulty temperature sensor in the motherboard. My phone is definitely not hot to touch, and it seems that just placing it in front of a fan alleviates the rebooting problem.
Do any devs know of a way to disable the temperature sensor either through an app or via adb?
Its doesnt look like bad sensor, but a bad ic on the board or a bad solder point.
For me it ended up getting stucked even on the bootloader, where everything is 'out of order'. The only way i got to reflash it was using my car's air conditioner at 16 degrees... didnt have warranty either, so the board now resides half dead on my desk...

I bought a second x10 and left the other one for testing and parts... though this x10 is starting to get a little warm too, lets hope this doesnt die too...

Yes my hd2 freezes a LOT when it gets very hot while charging and also when i start it sometimes it vibrates 6 times and freezes without loading the system so if ther' any solution for that ? i installed the last GTX rom and also i did test the latest stock T-mobile rom with the radio 2.14.50.04 nothing changes it's freezing a lot.

two possibilities:
1. one of you battery connectors might be bent (I've seen few threads on this issue here on xda)
2. faulty mainboard (been there) - if you Leo is under warranty, restore it to stock settings and send for repair
in the meantime you might consider using Battclock for battery temperature monitoring, once it gets to "freeze zone" switch your Leo off for a while or - if desperate enough - put it in the refrigirator (5 minutes should be sufficient)

Thanks for your reply, i think the problem is coming from the copper pins as you said ( or connectors as you've said ), when i touch them the phone boots good, but it doesn't fix it i must always touch them and wait that the phones boots so, how can i fix thoses pins once and for all ?
Some users here reported freezings due to a bad Radio and ROM combination. Maybe you should downgrade to a different Radio and choose another (stock?) ROM?!

you could try to delicately straitghten the pins - I saw a thread on this somewhere here (here meaning xda/HD2 forum)

We've had issues similar with the work HD2and it was resolved by replacing the battery.
How or why this came about was beyond me, but it must have been due to some of the idiots we employ playing about and not showing due care with the phone, so try a different battery, they are cheap enough

between i saw a strange thing on the battery ( the battery is deformed at the top a small part ), the battery costs here more than 20$ so it's not that cheap here, but i'll buy it i hope it will fix the problem.

What actually happen? I would keep trying and if it won't turn on anymore. I would still try to claim warranty by htc. Maybe they are not gonna repare it to difficult. So they can't check for hspl. And then they maybe send you a new phone. As far as I know it doesn't cost your anything when they detect hspl. They just don't repair it.
I had bought my xperia sometime around October'10 & updated it to 2.1 when it was available & then started facing this problem. The battery gets overheated, specially when charging, & when any activity is performed on the phone then, the phone goes into a loop of rebooting, stabilizing only when the battery cools off. Not only that, when on the move, apps like maps is initiated, the phone often reboots, so much so that it sometimes happens 4/5 times in a day, 2/3 times together. Since yesterday, the phone rebooted more than 10 times, twice with a sudden jarring sound while closing down. Also sometimes there is a burning rubber smell coming from the back of the battery. I have tried everything from reinstalling the android software to sending it off to a repair centre only for them to say that it is liquid damage when I know for a fact that no liquid has EVER touched it. Please someone help me. What do I do? Would downloading a custom rom or Zzdizus ne wcustom kernel help. Anyone got any working fixes
It sounds to me like a hardware problem, since you've reinstalled the firmware.
Why not, try zdzihus' beta 4 or wolfs' CM6.1.3 to see if it will be the same. But if it's the same, then you'll need a service.
I've had this problem too. I sent it to the repair center too (KPN Netherlands). But after 3 times to the repair center the problem still occurred. After the third repair I received a new X10 (with 2.1 pre-installed).
So I'm afraid there's no quick (software) fix. It's definitely a hardware problem and there's many people reporting this problem. Some get it fixed by having the motherboard swapped, some got a new phone, like me. I hope you still have warranty and manage to convince them is't not liquid-damage, because otherwise you're probably screwed.

Chances are services won`t be able to find the reason, and odds are good they will just hand you a new device.
Is there anyway whatsoever to stop the rebooting without paying for repair and without sending it to a repair centre (they keeps saying its liquid damage when I know its not). There must be something because this problem didnt occur when the phone was on Android 1.6 at all.
its not a case of roms or 1.6 vs 2.1 etc this is a problem which looking at the SE forums they know about however are not doing anything about
its a problem with the motherboard in about 1/5 xperias from what i read so not everyone will be affected but for those who are (tell tale sign being a burning smell when the battery is removed combined with random reboots) then the unit has to be sent back to SE for re-fit / replace.
however, and this is where the worst problems are, from what i read if the white sticker behind your back cover had red dots on (yes i know most peoples will just from natural humidity) but this is the water damage sticker and they wont fix it for free if this is marked (red dots)
also you need to have all the proof of ownership / warranty receipt to send off with it, so if your like me and got your xperia off of ebay they your screwed
sorry to be the bearer of bad news but this is the problem, if you have it its hard to get fixed and if you dont then good for you but the likelyhood of you getting the problem is not too slim not to think of taking out insurance

This definitely sounds like the mobo problem that's been plaguing the x10. Sadly to say, there is no fix you can easily do without switching out the motherboard. I feel like the watermark sets itself off when the device overheats. Same thing happened to me, and I bought my first x10 overseas so I had no warranty. Your update to 2.1 probably just coincided with the issue starting.

Because you're undervolting, it will probably not overheat as much, but it definitely will not solve the problem. The motherboard is already compromised. At first, my faulty x10 would only reboot once every few days, but as time went on, it became more and more frequent. Now, I can't even get it to boot past the carrier splash screen. Swap kernels for now, but plan to start saving money either for repairs or a replacement phone.

I was getting reboots after I turned the phone off (it won''t stay off!) After some research I decided it was some **** in the USB port so I gave it a good brushing and fixed the problem
But now it's back and the brush won't fix it
Evidently the SG2 is sensitive to shorts across the pins...
Now it won't even turn on unless I have it plugged in - I get some battery overheating warning at boot (with both batteries) even though it is obviously not overheated.
However, once I turn it on while (any) plug is in the port, it runs fine - plugged or unplugged.
OH!!! apart from crap battery life now, I lose 25-60% overnight, without any data, wi-fi or other activity.
I've done lots of wipes and reinstalls of different ROMs, kernels, wipe cache, battery stats etc but to no avail...
I guess it's time to bite the bullet and take it in to some Thai repair shop.... Hmmm. Dangerous...

this happened to me when i got my SGS2 usb port wet... and the problem is obviously hardware problem.. so the only 100% sure fix is replacing it... you have 2 choices here
first: buy off samsung official usb connector for SGS2 and replace it (video guide in youtube)
second: send it to repair shop/samsung retail seller to fix it.. and if i read it correctly and understand it correctly.. you cant get warranty of it because you bought it from china and is now in thailand right? so.... if you go to samsung retail seller it will cost minimum 30 euro (sorry i only know the price for europe) and depending on what they need to do it may increase to 150 euro
so... if you choose the second option.. be ready for high prices...

I'll try the IPA, then take it apart and take a look with a magnifying glass, might be a wee flaw I can scratch out between connectors... then, if I f*** it up, I can replace the port.

Hi, I have a problem with a Honor 10.
Since August it started to restart randomly, I just replaced the battery and I just did two factory reset but the problem continues to manifest even in the configuration screen.
I would exclude the faulty power button, since before rebooting it usually froze on the activity I was performing.
Any ideas?

It was doing this after the reset with just it's factory load? No 3rd party apps loaded?
Try reflashing firmware.

I really don't think is the power button because it reboot even in idle on the table, and i saw that if i put it on charge it reboot instantly.
I have this problem even in the configuration screens after the factory reset, indeed i've must configured two or three times because of that.
I'll try to reflash the firmware, then i'll wait for a new battery i ordered a month ago.
If it will be still broken i guess is a mobo failure.

Yeah if it interrupts the flash that won't end well...
If you can return it, do so... otherwise...
Before you go flashing nuts try to determine if it's a hardware issue. Check ribbon cable connectors... and that switch.
Firmware shouldn't become corrupted unless there's a flash memory failure or it was a bad flash to begin with.
Does it not do this is safe mode? 3rd party app if so.
If it does it when in the boot menu it's likely hardware.
If so it may be just a failed battery. Try with charger connected to see if this alters the behavior.
If you don't feel comfortable repairing it, let a good tech do it for you. I always remember my first mechanical alarm clock disassembly... it didn't go well

Firmware shouldn't become corrupted unless there's a flash memory failure or it was a bad flash to begin with.
Does it not do this is safe mode? 3rd party app if so.
If it does it when in the boot menu it's likely hardware.
If so it may be just a failed battery. Try with charger connected to see if this alters the behavior.
If you don't feel comfortable repairing it, let a good tech do it for you. I always remember my first mechanical alarm clock disassembly... it didn't go well

It reboots even in safe mode!
It would seem a hardware problem, possible that I bought a new battery already damaged?
It’s been a few hours since it works good after charging it to 100%, it seems that it starts to reboot towards 50%.
I wanted to flash it also because before doing the factory reset, it automatically installed some "stock" apps by itself, I refer to some games that Honor automatically installs at each factory reset, every time I uninstalled them, after some restart they reinstalled themselves.
It was a weird issue but looks like fixed with the factory reset, so now i only have the reboot issue.
I am so desperate that I would like to try the battery of my Honor 10 (the one with problems is that of my girlfriend), I would not buy another battery since I have to be delivered the one I ordered from a month.
It may be the battery, they can fail at any time.
It's rare for new ones to fail but it happens.
Use a firewall to block auto updates or installs.
Karma Firewall works well but its valuable logging feature doesn't work on Android 10 and higher, but it still will block apps.
Update: I just bought another battery and the problem persist.
Now im sure is not the battery so i will flash it very soon no matter what.

I switched phone and gave the Honor 10 to my wife for Coin Master and the problem persisted.
However, two months ago the battery started to swell and surprisingly the problem went away completely for about a month. But as it swelled to the extent of pushing out the screen the problem returned a month ago.
Thinking it was possibly a battery/battery connection related issue, I changed to a new Pisen battery last night. Sadly, the rebooting continued but only for 2-3 times today.
So it is probably an issue with the board itself.

The battery failure may have damaged the mobo or perhaps it was preexisting.
Check ribbon connector pins for damage. Look around for visible solder cracks. Try pressing gently on the mobo with a pencil eraser with device powered on to try to find the area. Check ribbon cables too by gently moving them.
One of the most likely places for a failed solder joint are the BGA chipsets. The many solder pads are under the chipset, inaccessible.
Press gently on them to try and verify this. A hot air station (and skillset to use it) is the only way to repair this type of failure.
Any battery swelling is a failure, replace it asap.

As I said, battery has been replaced with a brand new one. Therefore the swelling issue is fixed.
Don't have the skill set to use a hot air gun or to solder so this is it for me.
Quite disappointed by the QC of Huawei as this was my first Huawei phone. I have been using Xiaomi since my first smartphone and never had an issue like this before.

My point was a mobo failure is generally a game over event.
I run strictly Samsung's as I like their UI and have become familiar with them. Of course in 2-3 years that could change if Samsung keeps dropping the ball.

I understand.
That said, Huawei did replace the MBs for out of warranty customers in mainland China as a good will gesture.
Too bad that policy did not extend outside of China.

Maybe see if they'll discount a mobo for you.
Not free but it might sweeten the deal.
Or write it off and move on.
All my Samsung's have been long lived with replacement batteries being the only repairs.
Another reason I like them.
In my case it was sort of dumb luck especially when choosing the first Note 10+. In this case they did live up to their hype.
The S4+ lasted over 5 years and still boots up.
I had the random reboots going on for weeks even at night, also bootloops sometimes .
I tried a lot of stuff but i got my phone going again for 2 weeks now without any reboots.
It might be just pure luck but this is what i did last time:
Did a complete reset of the Phone ( everything gone )
I changed simcard to other simslot (i think this made the difference, atleast for my phone)
No apps from Meta (You dont want any of their **** anyway )

Hey guys, it seems that I solved the problem by bringing the phone to a Huawei service center, they performed an "operation on the motherboard".
Actually they changed the battery with an "original" one for 60€ (the one I had replaced cost 10€ ), then when the problem obviously came back they did the repair on the mobo at no extra cost.
I guess it went well.

Did you had any reboots after the motherboard change?
I got the same issue with my Honor 10. Tried every trick that I could think of, but nothing seems to help.
What I noticed, that sometimes when it restarts it does get very hot in the area near the camera. (not sure exactly what component it's there but it's something on the motherboard)
I'm thinking if it worth doing this motherboard change. (as it seems to be a design/component issue if there are so many that have this problem)

No, no reboot at all, but I noticed later that they rolled back to Android 8.0, so I’m thinking that they didn’t fix the motherboard, but they actually found a workaround by downgrading the OS.
I’m afraid to try to upgrade to Android 10.0 for this reason, I don’t even know if I can do it considering the new Huawei policy of flashing and stuff, but my girlfriend is ok with that so I let it go.
I can confirm that even now, on each task (TikTok scrolling for example), it gets very very hot in that point near the camera, my perfectly still working Honor 10 instead does it only on intensive use of the camera.
I hope this information can help you with your Honor 10, I suggest you go back to an older version of Android if possible just for troubleshooting.
If it persists, the motherboard is probably faulty and you need to replace it, I guess...
