[Q] how to get the vibrate back - Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Mini

This is my first incursion into Android, so apologies if it's a basic question/has already been answered elsewhere (not that I could find it via search):
I have somehow lost the vibrate function
I have been installing quite a few apps & have rooted the phone, as befits my first contact with Android , also I conected via PC connect to the update service, and it downloaded an (outdated) update.
It may well have been while trying different profile managers - but despite enabling vibrate in the system menu, and in the profiles of the current profiles app I'm using (called Profiles), no joy.
All suggestions gratefully received
Tia.

responding to the onslaught of concerned posters
having got into the service menu, it seems the vibrate function is not working.
Doing some serious googling on the subject, this appears to be a RELATIVELY COMMON issue with this terminal - so be aware.
(mine has disappeared into SE technical service for a couple of weeks to get repaired)

What happened with yours? Did it get fixed? Anything we can do to fix it ourselves?

maybe try repair it with PC Companion.

You canĀ“t fix hardware failure with software update, mate.

[Q] Does Kies break on 'Clear Memory'?

Hello,
I think I've found a problem with the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, and Kies breaking on it. I bought one last Saturday, and got it replaced yesterday thinking it was broken (Phoned Samsung support and was told to get it replaced), but I can replicate the issue consistently on this one too (worked out apparent steps an hour ago).
Steps (starting with a factory reset/new tablet):
1. Click 'Kies via Wifi' to open the popup to select computer.
2. Open task manager, click 'Clear Memory'.
3. Click 'Kies via Wifi' again.
On step 3 the screen greys out but does not show the popup. Turning the tablet back off and on again does not solve it. I have so far only managed to correct it with a 'Factory Reset'.
When Kies is broken like this my PC (Windows 7 64bit) cannot connect over USB either - it times out 'Connecting...'.
Is this a known issue? (Can it be caused with any other steps people know of?)
Is Samsung aware of it if others can do it?
In regard to avoiding this problem, will the Android OS manage my memory so that I should never really need to use 'Clear Memory'? I'm a tidy person, and so have been using it quite often. Should I not be using it?
Thanks in advance for any answers
same
I have the same issue and it is annoying. I also tend to clear memory the whole time cause I had a windows mobile device ages ago and it is a habit now. I even do it on my ipad and iphone by double clicking home
Kies service breaks everytime for me and the only way to bet it back currently is to do a factory reset. I decided to stop using kies. just copy the files to the sd folder.
As a side note : How can I get plex to work on my p7500 32 gb 3 g vodacom tablet? It seems that vodacom will only get an update in 6 month's time.
Regards,
Kies issue
Yes, just got my samsung galaxy 10.1
Kies wifi does not connect after I activated it and cleared memory. I get a greyed out screen
USB connection now also fails with direct connect.
Managed to connect to Kies once before I activated the Kies Wifi
I suppose I will need to factory reset!
I've been using my tablet for two weeks or so now, without clearing memory and kies hasn't broken since. I guess it's a work around.
I think I've seen mention that the recent bug fix is supposed to solve some issue with kies, but I haven't yet been able to get my tablet to see the upgrade.

I too had the grey screen when pressing "Kies via Wifi". 2 factory resets later and I found the solution. Go into Samsung App Store (the one with the little coloured circles and the white light coming from above, not the Samsung Hub) and search for the Kies Saver Wifi.
It says to click on Recover which I did. Since then, no grey screen, Kies Wifi connects first time every time and Kies via the USB cable works too.
Hope it helps
not working yet
unfortunately searching in the samsung appstore for kies saver wifi or any combo gives no data as a result

Same problem here
I get 1 result when I search for 'kies' in Samsung Apps.
It says it's compatible with HoneyComb 3.0. I can't see any other reason why it wouldn't show up for you though unfortunately.
I haven't actually tried it myself yet, so I can't vouch for its effectiveness. Not clearing memory has been good enough for me so far.
Can anyone send or upload me please kies saver apk? In german samsung apps isn't this app.
And i can't find everywhere else. I've got the same problem.
Im getting sick of this sh*t
it does not connect kies with usb or wifi..
I cannot find an app to fix it or whatever.
what im supposed to do next?

As in taking a phone call and sending messages?
Was just introduced in the last update the other day but following the steps it still refuses to work. A quick google suggests other people are having issues as well

Huh? Trying to answer your question?!?
Neo - are you being a smart a#s when I am just trying to answer your question about "is Kies working", or am I just misinterpreting your response to my post?

Yes, i think you are misinterpreting my response. I'm also not asking if Kies is working. I am asking if Kies Air Message is working.
I can get Kies Air to work fine. What i cant get to work is the new addition in the last 5 days to kies that enables you to make calls and texts on the PC...
Neo - thanks for clarifying. You're back on my Christmas list.
I am having the same issue and already spent quite some time trying to get it to work. Kies air message is either the problem locally on the client machine or it might just be the kies air application on the device with scanning for a kies air server. I will continue to try and if any progress is made I will surely share...
I too am having an issue with kies air message. I just decided to try it out and cant get it to work even though it connects to kies air easily :/
same problem here it says that no device is running kies air
Hey - there is an update to Keis Air app in the Play store.
You may need to make sure you have the most recent update for this to work.
...and I know this sounds simple and the app should be set to auto-update but mine was too and didn't.
The new pin code authentication is a bit of a pain to get working too. I kept getting two one for the message tool and one for the Kies air main window... one code hid the other, which was the one it actually needed ON BOTH!
FX
I had it briefly working (GT-S6500D) by sheer coincidence.
So at the end of last month the Kies Air-update was causing problems with my phone rebooting all the time, where before at least I could go to the IP assigned to my mobile and get the webbased UI.
I was still running pretty "dated" Belgium firmware with custom rooted kernel(build date somewhere from April?) on the phone and checked samfirmware and downloaded some 'hong kong' based firmware with build date around August.
It did stop the 'reboots' of the app but Kies Air Message was (still) not working.
Today, I just wanted to fiddle with it a bit more and I wanted to reinstall Kies-software for my Windows 7. So I removed Kies from Add/Remove software. But because Kies was still running, I needed a reboot before he could remove it all.
No problem because I had to install Kaspersky Internet Security as well, so I did not reboot but installed Kasperky Internet Security. Kies Air was still running on my mobile phone from previous attempts. As 'soon' as my Windows 7 'complained' about his built-in firewall being turned off, Kies Air Message suddenly detected 1 device. My Kasperky was still installing so I basicly did not have any software firewall active on my system. It did work, I only typed in a few letters to see if he 'could' see my phone book in Kies Air Message and it responded nicely with what I expected from it.
TLDR: check your firewall settings, perhaps try turning off all software firewalls and run Kies Air on your phone.
Apologies if this has already been covered or if you think I'm trying to teach you how to suck eggs but....
Are you guys using the App rather than the Kies Air setting? It's the app that connects to the Kies Air message rather than Kies itself. It seems a bit arse from elbow but I've not had any issues connecting to Kies Air Message using this method. I have kies installed on 2 lappys and a PC and they all connect to my phone instantly when I run the Kies app, as long as I'm connected via wireless or wireless hotspot of course.
Anyway, apologies if this isn't the case. My phone is an i9305 if that makes any odds.
I'm using Win7 64x and KIS, Kies Air Message does not detect my new GS2; I tried pausing KIS without success. Any suggestion?

[Q] Lost my latest software version, how to get it back

Hi, I've been trying to sort this out for the last 24 hours with no luck and need it fixed quite urgently
I have a Sony Ericsson Play, android version 2.3.4.
The microphone on my phone is rather strange, I can call people no problem, they hear me no problem but if i try and record my voice with a voice recorder there's absolute silence. This led me to backing up all my data and restoring my phone to factory settings hoping it was a glitch that would go away - it didn't.
So i reset my phone and it seems like it has been reset to a previous update to what I had before. I'm unsure of what update I had previously but one thing that has changed is that I no longer have the Google Play store but have the rubbish old market with hardly anything on it. Also my phone doesn't detect any of the apps that are stored on my SD (they're still there the space is taken). This is rather frustrating as I use apps such as Whatsapp a lot and I'm unable to use it.
Another major factor in my issue is that I bought my phone in the UK, had the updates done there and I am now in China. I plugged in my phone and tried updating it using the Sony Companion software but it tells me this is the most recent update (which it isn't). Same thing on the phone when I try and update it in the settings. I tried using a VPN on both my phone and laptop and 'locating myself' in the UK but it still says this is the latest update.
Can anyone offer any solution or advice that could help me regain what I had before. I've been searching all over the internet trying to find a solution with no luck.
Thanks for any help anyone can offer I really appreciate. Any questions just ask. Step by step solution would be excellent

[Q] Unfortunately,android.process.acore has stopped

Hi guys,
This is my first post.
I just got a Sony Z2, and yesterday I updated it to latest firmware 17.1.1.A.0.402 using flashtool. After that, everytime when I switch off my phone and turn it on, the message of "...android.process.acore has stopped" appeared.
I tried to flashed the phone again using PC Companion to re-update the same firmware. I though the error message has gone but than it is still there.
I have tried several ways as mentioned in this forum but the problem seem to be there. I don't see any problem/error caused by this error message yet.
Any idea/solution to completely remove the message?
Go into settings > apps > all apps, clear all data for anything relating to contacts then all will be fine, make sure contacts are backed up tho of course

I have tried and have not seen the message. Will keep you updated if it has conpletely gone

Update: It happened again when I reboot my phone today. Is it possible a firmware bug?
I should wait for the next release, hope Sony will fix this issue.
Regards,
I'm on romaur which is 402 and haven't seen this error since I wiped contacts data so not sure, you still on stock or?

I also have the same issue as the OP. It particularly happened after I upgraded to .402 using PC companion. The message will appear always after restarting. My devices has not been rooted. Tried to clear data and cache for contact apps, but after restarting, the message appeared again. I am still lazy to do a re-install because aside from the message appearing only after a restart, there are no other major effect to my Z2's performance. but clearing it will be nice though.
I have the same thing when i touch the phone immediatly when it just restarted, but when i restart and leave it untill screen goes off i don't get the message.

Hi guys,
Thank you for your info.
I tried to disable contact sync of Viber and I think the message has temporarily gone. Sometimes it still pop up but not as often as before I disabled the contact sync of Viber.
Apparently, this problem is caused by contact synchronisation between Viber, Facebook, Messenger, Whatsapp, etc. Other users, such as Samsung phone users, reported that they have the same issue but when they turned off contact sync of the above-mentioned apps, the error message somehow has gone.
To be honest, I have just recently switched to android from iPhone, and I have been usings iOS for years and never seen any kind of issue/error like this on iOS. However, Sony Z2 is one of the greatest phone I ever owned and I am so happy with it, specially its crazy battery life.
Hope you guys will share your solution here if someone can fix it permanently.
Cheers,

possible fix
i had this problem, amongst others stopping my phone. i pulled the sim card out, then rebooted the phone. the phone then showed it was updating all apps i let it boot up and it seemed to work. pulled battery and put sim card back in. and all ok so far. i have sent my phone 3 times away to vodafone for this repair, with android.clock stopping, android.phone stopped working and the phone actually crashing on the samsung screen and not even booting up. each time all they do is a factory reset. like duhhhh, i have never thought of that (sarcasm). i am hoping that doing this, will give my phone some sort of permanency in it's repair. i have not rooted the phone, it is stock.
Vodofone refused to replace the handset even though it had been in so many times for repair. word of advice. steer clear of vodafone. i am cancelling all my contracts with them.
sorry that went off topic, but i want a phone that works and vodafone will not help you in that matter.

Xperia's have unremovable batteries, maybe you should steer clear of Samsungs
Is that a good thing or a bad thing though? Cos sometimes taking a battery out is what could be needed to fix a problem.
But point taken. Perhaps a change of manufacturer would help

I know people who advocated pulling the battery from devices as the only answer but I've yet to come across a situation on any device which couldn't be handled with >adb reboot or a three finger reset.
There's actually a method on Xperia devices, to disconnect the battery and plug it back. It's called "Hard Reset". Yeah you don't take the battery out in reality, but this method does it in Matrix dimension. So, the consequences are the same.

Xperia Z2 freezes when using web messengers like Whatsapp

Hi,
I bought a new Sony Xperia Z2 and installed whatsapp on it. In the beginning there were no issues, but eventually, while using whatsapp the phone started freezing and everytime I have to hard shutdown inorder to get the phone back online to work normally. This only happens when I use whatsapp. I even tried uninstalling and reinstalling the application. Is there a way to overcome this issue? Please suggest a work around. Thanks in advance.:crying::crying:

this sounds like a framework issue
try repairing your device via sony pc companion
Also, I tried using the pc companion to repair the phone. It started working much better till I installed whatsapp again, that the freezing started again. Is there any way to know what is causing the problem? Any suggestions on how to tweak the software to prevent it from occuring once again. Please advice

It seems that nobody else has come with such an issue or it's relatively new that nobody has an answer to, yet!!
Could you let me know, if possible, whether a sim card would have anything to do with this issue? I contacted the service centre and they asked me to change my sim card and check. As I have also mentioned that I have already tried repairing the phone using PC companion. Any suggestions/advices are welcome.
Thanks...
