Hello @ all. I'm new here and my English is not that good that it should be, so please excuse my mistakes.
I have got a problem I want to install a new ROM on my PDA Phone (XDA Wiza200 G4). I started with this HardSPL. The winwo popped up i pressed "Check DOC", than i got an white screen on my Phone. After this the Tutorial is starting, when I agree to all the questions, the prog should install this SoftSPL, right? But then i am always getting an ERROR, Vista says that this prog is not working normal, and vista is searching for an solution. At the end Vista is closing the Prog and all the Installation is ****.
I am hoping you can understand my Problem and give me an solutuon. Thanks
WinXP is highly recommended,Vista still has problems. You better try it on WinXP.HardSPL will only get installed on WinXP.
Now I've got a problem. Is there any other solution?
Use microsoft "Virtual PC" and install XP ??
Dual boot and install XP?
Sorry posted this in the wrong topic
right click on the ruuupdate.exe file and click properties then click on the compatability tab and click run this program in compatability mode for xp sp2 and make sure the run as administrator tab is ticked too.
Works great for me and i have vista ultimate sp1 and i have had no problem installing roms. I would also enter bootloader mode manually before flashing, i do because certain roms come back with a 260 connection error
hi, have looked through all forum and cannot find if anyone has solved there problem of computer not picking up hero, i have windows 7 but also did it on vista before I upgraded.
tried different roms but still not working tried drivers no go, htc sync reinstalled and nothing.
if any one has any ideas that would be amazing
this might sound a little obvious but when you connect it to your computer, yes it will say connected on your phone but you actually have to 'mount' your phone before your computer will reconise it. to do this you go into your notifications and do it that way. or at least thats what ive found (as i am also running windows 7)
yeah nothing comes up on my hero as it did before either, tried looking all over the net, tried reinstalling the drivers from vista and all of that. tried re flashing roms but nothing, really piss poor, ready to smash the thing up.

Hi Alex,
I have same issues (Windows 7, 64 bit, HTC HD2).
My workaround is this:
make sure phone is not connected
remove any installs of Windows Mobile (starting with the instance of driver update)
re-start PC
reinstall Windows Mobile Device centre from Microsoft (I get an error on the device install, this seems normal)
restart PC
I then attach HD2, then go into tools;Active Synch and attach the HD2 to the PC
The USB device connection sound !
Then Windows installs the device driver
Then Windows Mobile Device Centre sees the HD2
I have also removed the PIN/Password at startup as this seems to help.
Not sure how long it will last, in the past Ive only had a couple of days...but at least it connects.
Hope this helps.
BTW PC is a DELL Studio

Hi,
Using the old HTC wwe RUU (I've tried the two different recommended ones from the guides here at unlockr and Modaco) the RUU goes to the bootloader then on the PC is says 'waiting for bootloader' which then goes to error [171] USB connection error after about a minute (handset displays USB RUU). I've got adb and all the drivers. What am I doing wrong, I establish a sync with HTC sync (latest version ) before launching the RUU? Can I use Droid Explorer to help me or are these RUUs the only way of getting an old ROM on?
Can anyone suggest anything?
Thanks
Matt
I've trawled the forum with search but can't find a resolution.

You are probably running the wrong driver. Follow my driver guide part iv. (You should be on My HTC not ADB driver)
If not then probably your gold card hasn't stuck (check it) or you'll need to use windows xp instead (can use a virtual machine).
I had this issue when using windows 7 64 bit.
Download the drivers in the attachment in the noob guide. Then reboot your phone into the htc bootloader (power on while holding back button).
Then connect your phone to the pc and use device manager (have disk) to install the drivers you downloaded. then run the HTC RUU with the phone still in the htc bootloader.
The drivers had to be installed whilst I was in the bootloader for it to work for me.
Might be worth adding this to the noob guide?

Depending on whether this works for this guy, might be a simpler method than the alternative.
@msiviter - please try the above quoted method first
I had this issue, and the solution for me was just to swap to a new computer, and it installed instantly
Try This
While trying to flash the RUU the phone reboots.
When it is rebooted you see RUU.usb on your phone screen. But no flash process.
While phone is still connected to pc and is still in RUU.usb mode.
Go to device manager on your pc. Right klik android devices and renew the USB driver to HTC driver.
Reboot computer and reboot phone.
then try to flash again.
This was the solution for me.
Tried all the above, spent 6 hours on it, I've got the closest by going to a (win7 64bit) pc that has never had the sdk on it then the RUU goes further but terminates with error [140] Incorrect Bootloader. I've made my goldcard again to no avail (Sandisk 512mb) and checked the goldcard data which was OK, I'll try it tomorrow on a different (Kingston 8gb) card.
Any other ideas?
Thanks for your help so far.
Matt
Update: New SD card and goldcard now gives 'Error [131] Incorrect Customer ID' on my Win7 x64, I'll try on my dads old XP laptop later!!!
I suspect it is a windows 7 issue. On the first attempt I managed to downgrade when I moved to my Vista machine.
I must have tried for about 6 hours with Win7 then moved back to my old Vista PC and it worked first time.
From observing the process on Win7, when the phone boots to the bootloader, the RUU program then gives it 180 seconds to confirm Bootloader is loaded "waiting for bootloader...1-180sec". Looking at the system tray the USB driver that is used for HTCsync disconnects and the device now says it is Android 1.0 and Win7 needs to find a driver for this. Win7 fails to find a driver for "Android 1.0" so it never allows propper communication between the phone and the computer.
(There are separate Win7 64-bit drivers - check you are using these?)
P.P.S. The stock card that came with the phone worked fine as a Goldcard for me and I think most people.
OK I've now tried on a sp3 x86 XP machine and I still got Error [140] and [131] whether trying from phone synced to pc or phone booted in Fastboot USB.
I've given up. I'll wait until June!

You installed the latest version of HTC Sync while your phone was unplugged/ Then you plugged the phone in to detect new drivers. Waited for the drivers to successfully install and then ran the RUU?

What drivers are reading in device manager when in the normal os? And same question when in fastboot mode?
I did exactly that on my win7 x64 and xp mce sp3 x86 pc's both had 'My HTC' in Device manager and had a sync relationship established with the latest 'Legend' HTC sync software.
Both gave the almost random error messages although now the bootloader almost finishes now so I'm past the [171] usb (driver) errors and I'm on [131] and [140] errors which pertain to bootloader and incorrect customer errors which I think are goldcard related. Although like most people I do rush through things and not read instructions! I've now made 4 goldcards via the various guides and I'm sure they are OK.
My Bro is getting his desire this week and I was determined to beat him to eclair but it looks like I'm in the lap of the T-mobile gods waiting until June (or july....September.... December etc).
Matt
I have same issue with msiviter, CUSTOMER ID ERROR.
I was able to run RUU regarding to guid from btdag (section IV).
What can I do now?
try deleting the drivers and then starting again perhaps?
I have the same issue here, can't downgrade to the previous Orange RUU, also using Win7 x64.
Have tried reinstalling drivers, and using other ROMS, nothing seems to work. I also find that when I run the RUU it loses connection to my phone before it even tried rebooting the phone into the bootloader.

this is how i've done 2 of mine, 2 dev laptops on 2 differnt hero's ... didnt work, with adb, sdk everything loaded for android dev ...
desktop worked fine for both hero's.
Same Issue
The trick to get the RUU to actually update the phone, for me, was to make sure that in Device Manager the ADB Interface driver was showing "My HTC" and not "HTC Bootloader". I was able to switch between drivers using the update driver button, and didn't need to download any new files or specify a folder or anything.
use windows xp and try my method of downgrade from 2.1 in my sig.
Hi all!
With advice of Dixiesmu at this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=6440715#post6440715 i try yo HardSPL my little Prophet. But I can't. Every time I try it says sleep4.exe isn't a 64bit program (I use Win 7 64bit. I installed cloudy's driver http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=485293) but my PPC gets a white screen. In second try (PPC's screen still white) it starts a RUU and crashes at getting information thing. What can I do? Is there a solution?

Disable drivers signiature on windows start and reinstall drivers for prophet!! It is esential to disable drivers signiature on windows x64 !! Read carefully my propget upgrade post!!
Wow! I'm sick of soft reseting. I managed the driver thing but when hSPLing it gives an error "cant load stuff. stuff. stuff".
Update: The exact error: The Update Utility can not open the requested file. Please check your Update Utility.

Look into device manager and if you have an yellow triangle on the prophet drivers then the drivers is not correctly installed or drivers signiature function is activated.
There's nothing with a yellow triangle Error comes in RUU after the information thing and pressing Update button.
Update: After the refreshing Device Manager I found a yellew triangled device. Microsoft USB Sync.
How does the SPL that showing on start up look like After the hSPL? Mine still 2.20.0001

For me is the same. You don't overwrite device SPL when you use my tool. It only emulate hSPL for flashing. When hSPL is correct installed your device display a white screen. When you have this white screen you have to check drivers instalation, yellow stuff, etc.. to ensure you have right drivers installed. Only if everything is ok, push the update button. My tool can automaticly detect if your drivers are proper loaded and block update if are not loaded.
I have two devices in Device Manager. PocketPC USB Sync is working but Microsoft USB Sync is with a yellow thing.
Whatever, You say my device is hSPL'd and ready to new roms right? Thx a lot for your help(s)! You're great dude! Cheers!
Everything was good until i get error while flashing a rom. Really fells me like a crap. Grr.
Hello,
I am having the following problem. A friend of mine just bought a hd2, secondhand. He wants to run android on the phone so now i have been trying for about 4 hours to get the phone connected to my pc. I have been searching all over hte net for answers to my problem, but nothing i found helped.
Problem: when i want to connect the phone to my pc it is found, but cannot be installed. I only get the message unknown device and ther it stops. I have tried all the solutions that can be found on the net but nothing hepled.
HELP
Have you installed ActiveSync (till Windows XP) or Windows Mobile Device Center (since Windows Vista) on your PC, before you connected the HD2 to your PC.
...and just out of curiosity: If your friend wants to run/use Android, why he bought a second hand HD2 instead of a second hand android device?
Good question. He was offered the phone and thought why not. Reaaly thnking about it came later. Oh well.....
WMDC is installed. I am using win 7 ultimate x64. I also tried it on another machine with xp and active sync 4.5. Same result.
