I won't pretend I know about how the lag fix increases the performance of my phone. I greatly appreciate the work Developers put into these releases, so this not meant to bash either.
I been using the one click from the market for a while (newer version doesn't work on my Fascinate), the phone is snappier and my quadrant scores are around 2500+ with my noticing it has something to do with I/O being very high with the default setting of about 680MB when installed. I also follow the other defaults loading on boot.
I never tried the older lag fix on the forum...
I'm running Voodoo .02 now and even though I know it's running EXT4 instead of EXT2 on Ryanza's, I notice quadrant scores of 1700+ and not that snappy feel (could be imagined). I do notice that Voodoo uses much less space.
Will the Voodoo fix increase in time with OC kernels or other fixes I'm ignorant of?
Will there be a fix for the 56FPS limit? (not that it's important)
Thanks in advance for the responses. I've always thought the Galaxy S line devices were the fastest, just wondering how to measure or take advantage of this.
Ryan's is ****.
Sorry, but that was mean. There is literally no comparison. Voodoo is miles better than the old lagfix. There is absolutely no doubt in anyone's mind that Ryan's was a temporary fix before Voodoo.
yeah, i was told that the OCLF was a loopabck command or something along those lines, therefore your quadrant scores are completly inflated, where as voodoo is actually closer to the real filesystems that other phones use or what sould have actually been implemented in the phone in the first place, so in reality the OCLF is jsut inflating your benchmarks, and voodoo is more along the lines of what the phone is actually capapble of. i think voodoo is much smoother and can tell a huge difference, i ran the OCLF for one day and got rid of it, also its pretty inpressive that with a real lafix(voodoo) this blows away all other phones that are out, even then ones on Froyo.

Could you be any douchier? Why apologize for something you say in a post when you can just delete what you say before posting it. If you really were sorry you wouldn't have posted that part. It's fine to say that you think one is better than the other, but to call something ****, then apologize right after....on a message board is the beyond doucheness.

Sometimes our instincts can get the better of us.
I really don't know what you're getting at. I've seriously been a pretty nice guy about stuff lately and this is one instance where I've said something douchy. I do believe that Ryan's fix was a ****ty quick fix. It's better than stock but terrible because it inflates scores and uses terrible loops.

Maybe I'm just being overly analytical, one of my pet peeves is someone apologizing for something they say on a message board, right after posting what they are apologizing for.
I mean, imagine how it would have looked had I just left "Ryan's is ****" or I had deleted it but the edit was still viewable by clikcing the "Edit by Gitykins" thing. I would have looked like even more of a dickhead.

ANYWAY, back to what we were talking about...
Yes, Ryan's OCLF was a great interim fix, but unless I am completely mistaken, even he wasn't thinking of it as the permant solution...
Voodoo, on the other hand, is the real deal, the ACTUAL fix.

If you look at my signature, I'm still running Bionix Fusion 1.1 (JI6 build).
Vibrant development has taken off lately, given the recent leaks of different builds in such a short period of time (JK2,JK6,JL1). Ive pretty much flashed all the major ROM releases, including Gingerclone and Nero, and I find myself unsatisfied.
I always find myself reverting back to JI6 and I cant put my finger on why. Granted, I'm not as caught up in the goose chase of staying current as some others may be, but for the sake of keeping up with the forum/development and enjoying new mods/themes/features, you would think it would behoove me to upgrade to a current build. Yet I still cant bring myself to commit.
Now, IMHO these ROMs based off of leaks are very very good stuff, but still not as stable (by that i mean as smooth as silk) as previous builds, and they tend to be a bit buggy. I think this is a major factor for me.
It could also be that I currently have my phone setup EXACTLY the way i want it (theme/appearance, modifications), and I dont want to have to go and dig around for everything for the newer build. Yes, its laziness, but what can i say.
There are things out there that are available for newer builds that are not for older builds, but i still dont feel the trade-off is worth it.
Does anyone else feel this way, or am I now old-fashioned??? Like you just reach a point when youre reallly happy with your phones setup, combined with getting just a little exhausted with the constant changing? Dont misunderstand, this is not me wishing that development would stop. Hell no. Im talking about that feeling you get when you dont have the energy to upgrade on such a constant basis, even though you want to keep up with the crowd (the forum)
you need justification for your setup?
wasted space.
My 2 cents, the reason why there are so many new roms are because of the leaks. For the JK2,JK6,JL1 - These are just Modems not the actual roms.
You can upgrade your phone to the newer modems without having the need to do a complete install or mess up your themes. Just so that you know, these new modems are supposed to give you better reception & Improve GPS performance.

GENERAL section, im bored at work and its something i was thinking about and id like to hear if anyone thinks the same way.
Hey, i have an idea....EVERY time i think about posting I will PM you, and I will ask you if you personally are interested in what im going to post, and if it meets your seasoned standards.
Piss off with your pitiful, embarassing internet ego. As mad as your post made me, as im typing this, all i can think about is how much better my life must be than yours, considering that i dont have to gutlessly cyber-bully people on forums to compensate for the alienation i experience in the real world. Flag me for flaming, i wont lose any sleep, pal.
Attend the "Town Meeting" tomorrow, you may learn something. I personally am not attending, and its because of members like you. Members who have been around for a while and break every forum rule, yet never get disciplined and probably never will. I dont care how many posts you have, or how much you contribute, no one should be immune to discipline. Yet, somehow, dicks like you are allowed to roam free with no consequences. Im simply trying to start a relevant discussion, and instead of easily passing over it, you come in and immediately start trying to derail/bellittle it. do you have ANYTHING better to do?

So...
2.2.1 is supposedly "faster" and has a "other improvements".
Basically, if you're happy with you current rom, it doesn't matter.
You could always read the Android 2.2.1 user guide
https://docs.google.com/viewer?url=http://www.google.com/googlephone/AndroidUsersGuide.pdf&pli=1
and play spot the difference. lol
This is what I needed, the only info I found through searching was that google had no official change log. Active sync I did notice when I flashed the rom. Basically, it's just speed improvements that may or may not be marginal then. Thanks much!
yup
know whats funny? when i flash back to 2.1 before i flash to 2.2 my data download speed literally goes for 20 Kb/s to 150Kb/s wtf? no way ill ever hit a data cap at 20-50 k a sec in downloading.
xriderx66 you are really showing your age with comments like that. Also, no one likes your kanye west impersonation. I WRITE IN ALL CAPS CAUSE MY WORDS ARE LOUD LAWLZ!!! His question was about the difference. His statement was about the menu lag.
Back on track: looking around the net it is hard to find the difference between 2.2 and 2.2.1. What I've found is the same as Hole. Heard someone around these parts say it has gpu acceleration for the browser. But I thought I had read about 2.3 coming with the vp8 engine. Someone correct me if I am wrong with that info.
I just got a replacement phone thanks to my T-Mo insurance because my last Vibrant hard-bricked and I want to know which 2.2 ROM is the best as of now, I"ve used alot but don't know the best one. I'm not touching 2.3 again since i want a working GPS.
The best one is really just personal preference. That's like me asking what's the best fast food place is for burgers or hot dogs.
Just test out a few of them for a couple days and judge for yourself.
What he said.
I was on MIUI earlier but some strange reason, it drains my battery even in deep sleep. I made sure I turned off everything. No dice.
So, I'm back on Froyo, specifically ZenDroid. Nice to see my battery not losing so much power.
There are no good Vibrant ROMs. They're all trash made with Windows 7 hacked Ubuntu. All our developers are heroine addicts who use their ROMs to spy on our credit card passwords. The CM7 and MIUI developers are actually government agents infiltrating our phones so they can use the cameras to spy on us.
You're better off switching to a nice feature phone. Or maybe a basic one without GPS so they can't track you. Or a toaster. It can't make calls or use apps, but it makes toast.
Seriously, where do we find these people? Burner, do you believe you're the only person to ask this question? Do you think the thousands of other people who asked that question all had their threads erased so the answers they were given have been lost to the abyss forcing you to ask yet again? There's a search bar ON THIS PAGE. Type in "BEST FROYO" and you'll see all the other retards the same question you just asked.
*sigh* Need to calm down. Will just imagine this is your face...

Yes, use the search engine, because we all know what is available doesn't change over time. If you find a post that says Bush is the president, he must still be since nothing changes. Also it's so much easier reading through numerous misc posts then to just ask one an get an answer.
Side note I made the decision to go back to Froyo last week and opted with Zendroid.

As far as searches, have you ever used Google before? There's this little doohicky on the side of the thingamajig that says "advanced". Pretty sure there's a date and time to search thingamadoohicky there.
Are you saying you don't get tired of seeing the exact same asked and answered question over and over and over again?

I can't get past the Vibrant logo, what do I do?
How do I go back to stock?

What's the best phone?
What's the best Gingerbread ROM?
How do I flash a ROM?
What's the best battery for the Vibrant? (My favorite, as it was asked while the "Best Battery" thread was on the front page still).

so before i say anything i AM NOT bashing any devs.
my question is.. do the devs and community really think once we get the ics ota and source we will really get any "decent" custom kernels that may help with overheating and or battery life on the rezound?
the reason im asking is, we have GB and source and the two kernels that ive seen still don't really give a huge battery life boost. other than ziggy, which i haven't seen around here at all lately who is fluent with building & messing with kernels?
i guess the same question could be asked of cm9. we would still need some sort of custom aosp kernel built, right?

I'm almost completely sure we don't have any kernel source yet, GB or ICS. So, they would actually have to release the source for us to make any major changes to the kernels.
Nope, wrong. I remember the source for GB getting released a while back. NVM. I would think that we could see better kernels one ICS source is released. I don't really see why we wouldn't, but I see what you're saying since most of the GB kernels still aren't amazing. Good, yes, just not perfect.

I suspect the kernel devs are waiting for source before putting it in high gear.
I know Incredikernel wad fantastic on the Incredible, and I get decent battery life with it on the Rezound (uses about 50% on the standard battery over an 8 hour work day with texting, push rmail, and browsing).

Same here, Incredikernel has worked very well for me battery wise (besides being the ONLY kernel that will run for weeks at a time without rebooting).
I would suspect HTC will fix the current issue with the ICS kernel running at 100% with screen on before anything is released. Kind of surprised we haven't had any more leaks lately actually.

You are like a damn cockier spaniel... In the CM9 dev thread, you said the devs aren't working hard enough. Yes, if and when kernel source is released we will have some really nice custom sense kernels.
There are some kernel devs that will be building kernels for the rezound once source drops. I don't know what kind of phone you had before, but custom kernels can MAKE a huge difference in a phones performance. A custom kernel properly dialed can have really large improvements in performance as well as battery life. I suspect that once the rezound has custom kernels available we will battery life almost double on properly dialed in phones.
I"m a fairly heavy user, and I was pulling about 32 - 35 hours out of an extended battery on my Thunderbolt, with an overclock at 1.7 or 1.8. I don't freeze or uninstall system apps or anything like that, it was just with the options that I don't use disabled.
This wasn't at launch, it was like the rezound, it's a process of evolution and imoyeson was always tweaking and improving things with each version, testing new ideas, implementing or removing features that did good or bad, etc...
The rezound will be like that too, but I think we will see a more drastic improvement earlier in the game.
This thread made me lol.

Understand I'm not trying to be mean or anything, but I think its because you mention AOSP in like every single possible thread and eventually it comes across as nothing more than complaining that we don't have AOSP yet. We all agree with you, we all want AOSP too... and soon! ...But there's only so many times you can hear the same thing before it becomes annoying. You keep re-iterating the same thing over and over again as if we aren't capable of understanding how much you want AOSP - but trust me, we get it!

Other than this thread wasnt about aosp. I was asking about source and lack of kernels. But i get your point.
If yall have a problem with him then you have two good options.
1. Shut up and let him be
2. Talk to a mod
Confronting him isn't going to stop anything, if you have learned anything from the internet its this, bashing someone is always going to.make them speak up, because of the fact that there is no consequences

If I did mention it would be a clone of Gingerbread that pretends it's something else. I have it on my phone and it seems to perform quite well with no bugs. One of the difference between this taboo rom and CM7 is that the former runs Chrome while the latter returns the this is not compatible with the operating system blah blah blah..
Might not be significant to most but I love Chrome and can't help wondering why I can't run it with the approved, non-taboo roms??

Also to add that the latter (aka CM7) has many issues with apps and keeps going into silent mode when tapping keyboard.
Wow seriously. Your former "taboo" rom isn't compatible with chrome. This phone isn't compatible with chrome.
I've told you like 10 times now. Clearly it's you who can't read.
I'm sure thus version of chrome is a fake/ clone (2.6.6). However, even this imitation wont run with CM7. Looks, feels and tastes like chrome so I'm hsppy withvit.

You obviously meant too retarded didn’t you boy.
I had a feeling English wasn’t your strongest subject in kindergarten.
To the issue: Ahm, NO, IT DOESN’T WORK WITH STOCK OR CRYING SHAME 7. As stated, you just get the not compatible etc.
On top of these blunders you also keep changing your position. First it’s the phone, and then it’s the firmware........
Time for your nappy to be changed??
