I tried searching for a thread about this but couldnt find anything I I flashed the new offical update through odin and I notcied that when I go to setting and check baseband version and it says unknown is it suppose to be like that? I also have another question for the people that have the ota do you have to swipe more to unlock your screen thats how mine is.
As on the captivate, I guess in the ota update tthose are common bugs. When you boot your phone with usb plugged and usb debugging on baseband version is unknown, in the swipe to unlock screen i've noticed you have to slide more and it is anoying.

thank yeah your right when it booted with usb in it didnt show baseband, noticed alot of wake lag too.

Well, I live in Mexico, Phone company Telcel.
I had KE4 Buildnumber as stock. then i decided to install KE7 Official rom i downloaded from some website named gadget w/e. When i flashed it with odin (I only used the KE7.tar no Kernel or anything) it rebooted n everything was going ok, but when i turned on my phone i wasn't getting signal anymore .. and i keep getting "Sorry! The process com.android.phone has stopped working unexpectedly.Please try again"
I flashed my phone with KE8 to see if it would work and used CF-Root v4.0 KE8 Kernel and im still having this problem, i have no signal, and if i try to go to Mobile Network settings it says "SIM NOT FOUND" in my app Drawer it says "Telcel GSM" it recognizes im using a Telcel SIM i guess .. and after a while of force closing com.android.phone it doesnt say Telcel GSM anymore.
Sorry for the long thread i just wanted to give as much info as i could. Some help would be GREAT because i just got my phone 3 days ago :/ the battery life was RLY lame i had to upgrade it, Thanks anyway!

what is your device's country code, when connected to kies (behind pda phone csc in the brackets)?
yesterday, many regions received the kf3 update. maybe that will fix your issue. also, when it comes to sim issues, a factory reset might help and the cross test:
test that sim card in another phone and test another sim card in your sgs2, that way you can determine whether the issue is caused by the card or the phone.

Yeah thanks for the help man I really thought i bricked my phone i end up updating to XEU KF3 Btw! But im experiencing some .. weird lag when scrolling to Page 2 @ Homescreen i tried removing widgets n all but that's fine i guess the lag is barely noticeable and the battery life improved a lot from KE4 to KF3 Thanks man!

hi everyone. for the first time since i joined xda a year ago i feel helpless
it started couple days ago when my girlfriend told me she couldn't get in touch with me cuz my phones turned off. of course, my x10 was turned on and it said i have signal and i'm on my network (rogers). at the time i was on wolfbreak rom 4.0.4 cutom kernel version and it was working fine for a week or so.
then my phone was able to call out but couldn't receive. then it couldn't call out and couldn't receive. but the status bar said i have full bars.
thinking it could be the rom, i flashed tripmiui rom over it. same thing. it said i was on rogers network and 50% chance i could call out but calls wouldn't come through; service busy. then i tried ewjet rom and the new miui 1.9.2 rom as well. so i went back stock
when i did, lockscreen said i emergency call only even though my sim card was in. status bar showing i have bars but still couldn't connect to rogers network. sometimes it would find it sometimes not. so i keep the stock rom and since i don't have money right now to get it fixed or replace, i decided to root, install custom rom and use it as a wifi/portable media device.
while i was trying to root this shows up on flashtool;

To solve this try flashing a stock firmware with flashtool. Make sure you have the SE drivers installed.

Ok so I've been reading around in a few threads about this but haven't quite found a solution in my case and I think I need a second opinion. I've also posted in other on going threads but it just gets lost in the rabble so.... it now gets it's own thread.
Bought a brand new Bell SGS2 from a dude on Kijiji. It was brand new, still in the box with the plastic all on it. I SIM unlocked it (which required rooting it) and dropped my Rogers SIM chip in.
I can send/receive txt's but 3G data drops frequently and usually happens once I initiate a data session. My test case uses SpeedTest. I've only seen it complete a full test cycle twice... most of the time, it will get the ping, start the download test and 10% in, the data connection drops and 3G/H+ icon disappears. It takes about 1-2 mins for the data connection to return. I've tried market access or web browsing and same thing happens once a data session initiates.
I've installed a slew of modem/ROM combinations via Odin from XXKH3 to XXKI4... nothing... same issue. Seemed worse with KI4 too!
I've tried different APN settings, disabling fast dormancy and specifically trying to enable only HSPA bands. Nothing. Same problem.
I've since reverted back to stock BELL firmware and tried a friends Bell SIM chip and noticed THE SAME thing happening! So this would definitely tell me it's a hardware problem. It's been more than 15 days so Bell won't even talk to me as the return period has passed and I'm not a bell user so screw them.
I guess at this point, I should test my luck with Samsung but it's been rooted and even though I've un-rooted the binary counter shows 2 which means.... I'm screwed for warranty right?
U can reset the binary counter after flashing back to it original state by using jig. Google for galaxy s2 jig
Btw, why dont u just flash original samsung I9100XXKI3 rom? Which provide good modem. Check my signature, 'boot loop', theres a link lead u to installation guide with download link provided. All is there.

I personally found XXKI3 Modem to be best for Bell's SGS2 (currently using it on Telus).
Tried all the modems' including KI3... didn't work.
In recovery mode, fix permission, reboot and check the 3g again.
Try another method, flash cm7 nightly latest version #16. If the problem still exist, thats mean its related to phone's hardware.

Well I got it new out of the box but I had to SIM unlock it which required rooting and etc....
I did power-volume up-home... got into recovery mode and... there is no option to fix permissions. Keep in mind this is the stock ROM I put back on.
CM7 is another idea.... not against that.
Well. Maybe some failure occured during rooting your phone before. Install rommanager app from the market, open then select flash recovery mode, then select your phone model.. This will give u recovery v4 which will give u more option on recovery mode. This is the easiest way to get more option cwm. U will have fix permission option when u done.

i have the same problem i.e data loses connection. after a fresh flash of stock rom and factory reset , it starts working fine for a week or so and then the shyt happens again . i can tell u , its not a hardware issue, it more like a software issue.
i m not good at android but wen i used to run squid on a linux machine as a proxy server , i recall i had to clear a log file to make data flow possible every few days. i think android has a similar issues some logs files build up or some **** like that.

I had read all the threads and it seems like i found a solution on http://http://forum.xda-developers.com/group.php?do=discuss&group=&discussionid=1252 but i don't understand what is CWM4 and i can't find any information.
Can you tell me what is CWM4 and if i don't already have it where i could find it and what to do with it?

I've read that thread and NOOB Guide or some thread for Noob's, ment to explain somethings, but I still don't know how to enter in CWM ... and i don't know if that mod it's instaled on my phone. If i need to install please tell me how.

I believe you're going to need to root your device and unlock your bootloader before you start dealing with custom recoveries (CWM is one - it stands for ClockWorkMod recovery). Typically you enter recovery mode on an Atrix by holding volume-down while the phone turns on, and then pressing volume-up to cycle through the white text that appears on the top of the screen. The power button then enters recovery mode.
Really, you've got a bit of searching and reading to do if this is the path you're going to take to fix your device. Probably 2-4 hours if you're starting from scratch and learning as you go.
It is worth it... when you're done, not only will your FP be fixed, but you'll be able to leave that awful stock ROM for something faster, more capable, more elegant.
As i said on my first post my device works on Orange Romania, when the first owner bought it had AT&T and when i reboot in the top left corner it says UNLOCKED. The first owner said that he needed to reinstal the phone's operating system that's why i'm curios how can i check if my phone has a ROOT because i belive that it's UNLOCKED?

Install Android Terminal Emulator. Type in su and see if Super user asks to grant access .

I would suggest for this to reboot your phone and as soon as it boots up go to fingerprint scanner and set ur fingerprint. This has worked for me for quite a few times.

I had same issue. I did several reboot but not worked. Finally, I cleaned the finger print sensor with some volatile liquid (like after shave or nail polish remover) after switching off my cell phone and it worked like as before. It might be helpful for others with same difficulty.

i got the z ultra yesterday and when i updated it to the latest firmware wifi wont switch on and it reboots after 10 or 15 seconds. i tried repairing the firmware using SEUS and its still doing the same thing, tried flashtool and it was never resolved! im an xperia z user too, i know that wifi not opening issue happens if the modules are incorrect if you will use a custom kernel, that's what im experiencing, when i toggle the wifi it will be greyed out and it will start to reboot, then i need to activate airplane mode just to stop the reboot thing, and once i turn off airplane mode it will automatically try and activate the wifi and will start rebooting again. Can someone help? bootloader locked, rooted to change CDA on build prop to trick SEUS and still its f*cked up.

Yeah thats messed up man... when I've been beta testing that happens a lot, but not on a stock kernel...
Try flashing a different FTF.. like going back to .510... Here's a link to my thread containing FTF's for you to flash. Try those and see what you get. Often the modem's will be changed in countries official releases, but I'm not aware of anything happening as they are all supposed to be 'international' ultras. (unless its branded like american carriers do)

I would return to TW version on the latest version .532 and ask for change the device. It seems your phone have a problem with the .532 Wifi driver and setting. You are on stock so it should not do that.

That sounds like a hardware issue as described and when powering the wifi module it's effectively throwing a windows blue screen and rebooting. I'm sure there will be a diagnostic code you can enter into the phonepad to test wifi, if it reboots then you've got your answer, but service will know all that if you can't find a code.

like @SpyderTracks suggested.. if software does not fix it, then there must be a hardware issue. Take it back to the store if possible..
