Hi all,
I've a bricked Galaxy Vibrant T959 and blocked Recovery/Download Menu. Samsung reject the repairing because is not for the local market.
Now I'm searching a Service Center or someone else in Germany, which has can put the mobile into the DL-Mode via JIG ( Anyway Box) or via JTAG.
I'm still try to call different shops ( Handy Doctor etc.. ) but all which I 've call are working also "only" via the DL&Recovery Mode ...
Does someone help to find an address, where I can send the Mobile for repair?

Yes, it can

Unfortunately the Recovery / Download Menu is blocked ( I've bricked them 2 days before the Recovery fix was coming out ( I'm idiot ...)) and so I have not found anything to received the DL Mode.... ( I think I have try all, what I've found) the PC reported an unknown device and deactivate the USB- Port. I haven't also found, which driver I can press manual to this device, that Odin can handle this one ....
Hi well here in Köln there are plenty of Turkish German shops that I'm sure would try to help you out. The problem is they really don't have any tools you couldn't have discovered for yourself on XDA. T-mobile USA I heard are real sticklers when it comes to repairing rooted phones even when the problem is not software related. I guess that goes to show your chances if you would send in your phone.
Still, if no European service center is willing to help you and you have exhausted every possibility of fixing it yourself I suggest calling T-mobile USA and telling them you moved to Germany and now your phone miraculously went blank. You might just want to try your luck with their repair department. Generally speaking, it's not always discovered you basically jacked up your phone yourself!
Alternatively I would suggest calling T-mobile here, they might be sympathetic to your case, although I think it's a long shot. It would really require some lying and creative story telling your part to get them to exchange your phone for a German one. In my experience especially their business support center is given a substantial amount of leeway to help customers with unusual problems and ideas and isn't tied down by the same rules they work with at the customer service for private kunden. E.g. they once helped me getting out of a Dutch contract prematurely, which would not have otherwise been possible.
Good luck!
The only problem here is - T-Mo US and Germany- that I have no contract. I using a Sim from Alice and they a cooperate with O2 .....
I believe the only way is, direct to connect Samsung US.... No Service-Center has a Anyway box If they talk a little bit, they all work with the tools, which are available everywhere .... Sh...t - why Samsung is not willing to repair - also not for money ... Global player - nice joke....
Maybe someone has another idea? I don't want believe, that the phone is now expansive trush ... 5 min in use; the plastic on the screen is still there ....

well, this phone is supposed to be near unbrickable. though i've never experienced this problem, i'm pretty sure it sounds like it's a soft brick on a HW locked phone. i don't know if your phone is already set to usb debugging mode but i guess this is worth a shot if it is:
1. extract AndroidSDK to your c:/
2.get the drivers from this post and install (these are supposed to be the correct samsung drivers and hopefully your pc will see the phone with these)
3. Download these files to some place where you know they'll be (Odin, 512.pit, JFD.tar). Also watch the vid tutorial on how to apply files so you'll get an idea of how this works.
4. after all that is done, try to access command prompt (start btn > run> cmd in windows xp iirc or shift+right click on desktop if you're in vista - not sure if it's the same on windows7).
5. once cmd is open, type in cd c:\android-sdk-windows\tools (that's to get you to where adb is)
6. open up Odin and plug in your phone into the USB.
7. go back into the cmd prompt: the cmd line should now read like this c:\android-sdk-windows\tools>, if it does type in this command: adb reboot download
i've never done this but i think that should get your phone into download mode and get it readable to Odin so that you could manually flash to stock. i should warn you that it's probably going to erase your data on the internal memory and that there's a chance that this can result in a full brick but at least if this is done correctly, your phone should be able to fully boot.
p.s: i've read plenty of times that Odin can be finicky and it may take multiple tries before it sees your phone and highlights the COM port.
BTW: check the Vibrant Bible out, for extra research before you try doing anything to your phone.
I'm hoping that someone more experienced at flashing will chime in on this post.
Thx for the time, to write all the different Steps.
Unfortunately, the PC does not see the Mobile. The PC reported only " Unknown Device and after this one, the Port is closed. So I have also no access via adb to the phone. Odin can not select any COM about the same reason.
In the case, that the Recovery- and Download Menu will working, so adb and Odin will be working. About the Defensive Phone, the Port is not open and so the chance to repair this phone is only via Anyway-box (JIG) to force the DL-Mode over the USB-cable or the more time-expansive method via JTAG.

I have a problem with Galaxy s2. Basically it started to drain my battery like hell.
It gets empty in about 10 hours.
Now when I want to flash the phone once again in order to get everything back as it was when I bought it I cannot. This is due to MTP connection activating itself as soon as I turn on the phone. And I cannot enable usb debugging due to that as it says that I have to remove the USB cable.
In addition my phone charges itself really fast about 2 hours. And when I try to power it on without charger plugged in it gives me charging image and yellow triangle with ! in it and thermometer aside flickering. Does anyone have any ideas how to fix my phone?
Have you tried using CWM to wipe all data + clear all cache, then do a fresh re-install?
Yes I tried it now. It still says my USB is connected when its not. And now it doesnt unlock my sim card.
Factory reset that dont work return phone to a service centre ..

Well thats the case I have voided warranty already. Wondering if there are any chances I could put old rom back before returning it?
Make a DIY USB JIG then flash it back to stock rom and have it checked.

Not sure what do you mean by DIY USB JIG but I cannot flash it because I cannot switch USB debugging on... Thats the case it shows me that USB is always connected when it isnt and when USB is connected it doesnt let to switch on USB debugging.
Route is source stock rom and Odin load stock rom into Odin enter download mode on phone and then connect cable and flash rom .

Thank you all who have replied. I have now managed to get over the USB issue somehow but still something is wrong either with battery sensor or battery. When I power off my phone it switches on automatically and shows the thermometer and battery charge icon. Anyone else have had this problem? It also charges up to 95% and it bursts to 100% very quickly.
EDIT: Now I tried my friends battery and I did not get the flickering temp error and my friend didnt get it with my battery as well. So something now I'm totally out of ideas.

I am having the same issues here, wonder if the topic creator resolved this in any way? I am thinking of getting a new battery?
Just FYI wear a condom or something on your galaxy S II. As it turns out from service my phone supposedly has liquid damage which does not the warranty apply. I have to pay 240 euros in order to get it fixed :S
Hey Guys.
I had an S1 7 months prior to buying the S2, and have upgraded/fresh installed ROMS many many times over the past year. Once the S1 bricked during an upgrade and I was able to get it into Download Mode without using a micro-USB jig from instructions on this website. If my memory serves me correctly, it was a procedure something fairly simple like hold the Home, Volume Up and Power buttons continuously until the phone goes into forced Download Mode.
However, this procedure doesn't work with the S2 or I'm remembering it incorrectly, and I'm unable to find that instruction webpage again. Now my S2 is almost bricked showing a message I've not seen before, "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again."
So far, I cannot get past this message and Kies 2.0.2.11071_128 doesn't recognize the device nor that emergency recovery is needed.
Unfortunately Samsung programmers haven't been quite smart enough or forward thinking enough to make Kies work from behind a proxy which requires authentication (I live and work on a university campus and the only way to the internet is via proxy and authentication) and it has never shown in the past 9 months of usage that it needs to update itself nor finds any official ROM releases. Therefore I've been forced to use Odin and ROMs from here or samfirmware.com for my updates. Until now, there has never been any major problems that I couldn't get around.
Do any of you have instructions on how I can get my S2 into download mode so as to get Odin to recognize the device? It is not possible for me to make my own JIG here in Thailand as there is nowhere for me to go purchase electronic equipment and parts such as soldering irons and resistors. I am a computer engineer and could easily build such if it were possible to get needed parts.
Thanks hugely in advance for any help offered.

Well kiss my rosy red butt-cheeks! Speaking from personal experience as tech support, I know empirically to replicate something 52 times prior to asking for assistance. This instance shouldn't have been an exception!
Directly after posting this request for assistance, I decided to try Odin once again and DANGED if this time it found my device even with the "Firmware encountered" error showing. Odin stopped around 90% and forced me to reset my S2, but this time it went right into Download mode with nary a fuss. Now Odin just successfully installed KG6.
So if there is anything to be learned from this experience, either by other users with similar issues or myself, it is "if at 1st you don't succeed, try again and again and again and again."
I have a GT-I9100M that is refusing to turn on. My computer cannot even tell when the phone is plugged into it.
I was following the guide located at
dropbox.com/s/6oiqm8909pwg6qt/For%20i9100G%20users%20only.pdf
to try to update my phone. I was using the Odin method with the 2 files linked under "using odin" on the first page of the guide.
Odin said something to the effect of "FAIL". I tried again, but ODIN got stuck, so after a while I unplugged my phone from the computer.
Now I cannot get a response from the phone at all. I have tried pressing power, holding vol.down+home+power, removing the battery. Even when I connect the phone to my computer, I get no response (My computer doesn't even recognize that the phone is plugged in).
Are there any steps that can be taken? Should I contact Samsung? I read something about a USB JIG... would one of those help? Is this a "hard brick"?
I am in Waterloo, Canada (it's near Toronto). If there are no other options, can anyone recommend a trusted repair service?
Thank you in advance and sorry if I am replicating an already existing thread! I searched and searched, but tbh I'm pretty worked up atm, so I may have missed it.
EDIT: On closer inspection, it seems the file I tried to upgrade with was for I9100G, whereas I have I9100M. I'm guessing this is the source of the problem?

Yes that was the source of the problem ...
Do you see phone connected in ODIN.. That is COM section turning Yellow ???
No, Odin can't see the phone
Bottom line is, if you can't get into download mode (vol down/home/power), your next best (very faint) chance is a jig. If that fails, you'll need to have a JTAG repair done, or return it to your telco/Samsung for repair.
The JTAG repair may well turn out to be the cheaper option given there's a pretty good chance Samsung will charge you to repair it, as using non-stock firmware on the phone voids your warranty.

Hi
If odin can not see your phone means you are not in download mode.
also you can use "Download Mode JIG" to put your phone in download mode if its not bricked. you can buy online.
Also you can make it @ home if you know about how to.

Okay, thank you for sharing your expertise!
Would anyone happen to know if this site mobiletechvideos.mybigcommerce.com/samsung-galaxy-s-ii-jtag-brick-repair/
is reputable? $75 to get me out of this mess isn't toooo bad.
Also, any tips for approaching Samsung? I'd like to be honest with them, of course, but if there's a chance that they won't be able to tell what I've done, I might just say "it when dark when I tried to update it".
I'm with Rogers, but I bought the phone off Kijiji. I doubt they would help me...
Anyway, thanks again!

Listen if the phone is still under warranty you can try approaching the samaung service centre and tell them that the phone suddenly switched off while using and then refused to switch on..
Since the phone cant be booted even to the download mode, they wont be able to check the binary counter so..
They might fix it for you or maybe if you are lucky they may get you a replacement!
I had a similar problem and they fixed it for me..

hi there!
i searched the i9100 forum for "broken display", but didnt find any solution.
as mentioned the display is black, while the touchscreen is still working. the data i would like to download from the are: photos, contacts
(+ anything else i can recover).
- the phone can not be mounted via USB.
- also downloaded the sdk and tried /tools/ddms without success - doesnt show up/mount.
- the shell(terminal.app) doesnt recognize the command "adb".
- the phone is not rooted.
i am not a pro, but merely a user, so may be i did use any of the above incorrectly, or didnt meet some prerequisites. just tried what i could before bothering you.
any help is appreciated!
thanks in advance

Try it with a HDMI cable with an lcd tv.
Baloo
Try a PC you need USB to recover therefore USB drivers via KIES .
You may be able to fix screen if its not hardware by download mode and flash stock rom though this is a wipe mode and you will lose some data . But thats what a backups for presume no backup via KIES no back up via GOOGLE no backup via Nandroid ???
You will need a PC POWER phone off
Download stock rom from stock roms post open ODIN put rom to PDA .
Hold down Vol down button + Home button _ Pwr button
next press Vol up button once
Connect Samsung USB cable if you now get a yellow block in ODIN proceed to flash .
No yellow block = no connection .
jje
first off all, thanks for your replies! couldnt find a thank you button in the thread though...
@balootm
i dont have a HDMI-cable with USB lying around. so... before i go and buy one, i would actually like to KNOW that it works. but i will keep it in mind, if i dont find another solution. thanks.
@JJEgan
just to clarify: the OLED is broken - my bullterrier caught the charger cable while walking by. it IS hardware related, but only the display. the touchscreen still works, although its not of much use, if i cant see whats going on on the display ;-)
clarification of what i need: connect the phone to another device -
- in order to access my data on the phone (preferably my macbook pro or an another android phone).
- without having access to the phones display.
- preferably without buying special cables (more of a wish...)
i hope that you can help me better now. if i omitted anything important or you need more info, please let me know.
thanks

Hey all,
----- TL;DR Version ------
Phone crashed.
Galaxy S logo looping on startup.
No recovery mode, only download mode.
Tried all steps in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1457458,
Even tried pit file.
Odin cannot write *anything*, phone shows no change on display or after reboot.
-------------------------------------
Long term fan, first time poster. I use a rooted Galaxy S2 running a custom rom (I bought it this way) that I really didn't pay much attention to, it was working beautifully for nearly a year. I have flashed phones in the past successfully as a long term android user - but have no real experience beyond that.
I was using it the other night, when all the sudden many many programs stopped responding while I had an incoming phone call that I couldn't answer. I tried to remove the battery as it was hardlocked but when I went to boot it back up it stuck at my carriers logo, then the Galaxy S logo looping continually.
Recovery mode is also not accessible (as that seems to load beyond the point of that logo playing - where it locks).
I've read through the guide below extensively, and have tried all the steps in combinatination with several other roms from the links provided in it, http://samfirmware.com/, and various posts on this forum - as well as one that has been shown to work on the exact model and carrier (even purchased around the same time) in my country..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1457458
I can get to download mode - but the problem seems to be that no matter what Odin tries - it cannot actually write ANY data (even a .pit file attempt failed to make any changes - even if the change were to be bricking my device lol..)
I've also tried two USB cables in different USB ports as the article suggests..
Thoughts? Suggestions? Time to find someone with a jtag in Australia?
Many thanks,
Hajuu
Given you've well & truly done your homework (which is a refreshing change from the 'Hlap mai fone broked !' threads we normally see here which contain no detail whatsoever), sounds borked. I would link you to a partition scanner which may have been useful if you had recovery, but that obviously isn't an option for you.
Someone posted a thread in here maybe a week/two weeks ago there was a place in Sydney that did JTAGs (might be quicker than sending it OS). Alternatively, start calling mobile repair places in your area, might find one that does JTAGs. Or, try this site, might give you a headstart.
Also, I'd keep trying the below steps (and with a 2nd/3rd PC if possible) in the meantime. You never know, you might get lucky
Stuff to try when Odin doesn't work
-------------------------------------------------------
*Must run Odin as administrator in Windoze.
*Ensure Kies & it's processes aren't running in Windoze task manager. Kill them if they are.
*Try different USB ports; you must be using a 'powered' or mainboard port.
*Try different USB cables (particularly the cable that came with the phone if you're not using it now)
*Try different versions of Odin (search on here/Google)
*Uninstall Kies, reboot, redownload & reinstall it, reboot, try the flash again.
*Check the rom/kernel you download for corruption. Programs like 7Zip, IZarc, WinRar, etc will allow you to 'test' the rom file you download. If there are any errors/any of the files fail the test, bad download. Try again/try downloading with a different internet connection if it keeps happening.
*Run Windoze Update.
*And if all this fails, try a different PC. And then try all the above steps on the 2nd PC if necessary.
Well, thanks anyway - i'll take that to pretty much mean "Yeah.. You're going to have to jtag it" haha ^_^
I find it risky to invest probably $50-100 minimum to send it somewhere, when it might not even help at all (it could always be a hardware fault with the memory), Thus doing it myself seems the best option
I found some gear for about 160 euro - but I don't really know much about how it's supposed to work..
I don't know what kind of rom or anything you'd need or what kind of software to use.. My basic understanding is that it's a direct interface to the memory, where you're doing a complete sector by sector rewrite, so I wouldn't imagine you'd use the standard .tar.md5 type thing
How is doing it yourself the best option.I can get my phone jtagged for £25,and if it doesnt work then I only pay postage.
Attempting to do it yourself will almost certainly guarantee you'll:-
a) Waste €160 on something you more than likely will never use again and
b) More than certainly end up having to get a new phone because you'll bork your SGS2 so badly.
If it can't be JTAG'd, all you're paying is postage. Whoopdedoo. And besides, who says it can be JTAG'd anyway ? It may be able to be. You're only going to find that out if/when someone who knows what they're doing & has the gear takes a look at it. If it can't bet JTAG'd, then you're looking at a MB replacement (either from a donor phone or a new one from Samsung/authorised repairer)
If I were in your situation, I wouldn't be tempting fate. I'd either be paying postage to/from a JTAG repairer, or getting a new phone.
"Most places will only charge postage if they can't fix it" probably would have sufficed heh.. I never claimed to know a lot about it, just weighing up my options.
Thanks for the information anyway, I will be sending it off to a place I found today.
Will Samsung be able to fix my Galaxy S3?
I was trying to bring the phone back to stock ROM and ODIN failed on me.
I tried pretty much everything and Odin would keep on failing. I tried to emergency recover it in kies but Kies would say, "connecting" and never connect. Thinking this is a USB Driver issue, I took it to Samsung Experience store to get it repaired. However, they could not restore it.
(***** THE PHONE WOULD GO INTO DOWNLOAD MODE but NOT the Recovery mode.*****)
So the phone turns on but can't go into recovery mode but CAN go into download mode. Odin just screws up on me. (Is this a soft brick?)
So the guys at the Samsung Experience store asked me to send it to Samsung to get it repaired. So I called the Samsung guys and he told me that "Reflashing the phone" is free of charge (even though my phone is out of warranty btw). But I'm worried that "reflashing" is the same thing they tried at the Experience store. So I'm thinking they would try the same thing the guys at the Experience store and fail.(Then charge me to do some other option.)
So the question is,
1)Would they be able to restore my phone without having to do an expensive method?(replace motherboard or something)
2) Will they still do the repair? (My phone was rooted but I heard the root record gets deleted when you try to put a ROM through ODIN)
3)I still want to fix my phone even if it costs money. So how much do you expect the repair fee would cost if they cannot recover by software means?
4)How long would this repair take in general? I need this phone ASAP
Man this sucks..... I bought this phone for 200 dollars at Textnow like a month ... It would definitely cost less money to repair than 200 bucks right?
Dont worry, thats not a hardware problem.
:good::good::good:
1. Yes, they will be able to fix it. I hope you aren't in the USA, because you'll have to ship it out of the contedent. I could fix your phone. It's not very hard.
2. Root will be wiped, but when you reboot into Download mode, it shows that the phone has been rooted. Depending on what area you are in, your warranty may not be honored.
3. Depends on how bad it is, but at most, $500 for a new motherbaord, (since samsung rapes you)
4. It will be fixed within 3 weeks.
5. If you're willing to insure, and pay shipping both ways, I'll do it for free. Short of a hardware issue, I can (and will), fix it. I'll restore it to the latest 4.3 firmware, and send it back. No charge if your phone is already unlocked.
Did you try any other version of odin or check your download .. try to download again.. maybe your file is currupt?
Please quote me and let me know what happens

Before goign to samsung to this:
1. Change usb cable/port.
2. Check the downloaded file.
3. Download another firmware and try it. Somethimes some firmwares are bigger than others and need a pit file
4. Or in samsung kies press emergency recovery. Enter your device model number and serial number and samsung kies will tell you which firmware it came with and you should flash that firmware and download it from sammobile.com
I suggest going to step number 4 for a quick fix.

Hey, I've already sent it to Samsung and I've already tried all the steps but they didn't work. ._.
Odin failed and Kies would not connect my device, so emergency recovery didn't work.
But, could you give me any idea if they can fix it without replacing anything physical? (I'm just worried I'll have to pay **** ton of money trying to fix the phone.)
Just to remind, the phone does get to download mode. So, they will PROBABLY fix it without replacing anything right?
PROBABLY not 100% right?
Thanks anyways.
