Hello,
I flashed Vibrantfroyo_R3.zip, should I go to stock ROM if yes, which firmware, or can I just flash directly Vibrant9.zip?
Cheers

Should be able too. I've flashed from Froyo to Bionix, masters rom, etc. I think Vibrant9 is the same. FYI, Eugune just posted in his Froyo build that he fixed most of the issues.

Just make sure whatever you flash has a 2.1 kernel bundled with it. Otherwise you'll brick your phone.

The bootloaders are backwards compatible meaning you can flash a froyo rom without issue. Kernels are not though so if you want to use a backup youll need to flash a froyo kernel first.

If you dont know......dont play with em.....keep your hands out of the cookie jar.....youve got a lot of reading ahead of you
I didnt have any problems flashing bootloaders.. but yep.. best read a bunch first
Most important thing to know about bootloaders is they're one of the only things that, if you screw up installing them, may permanently kill your phone. Screwing up ROMs, Kernels, and Modems can almost always be fixed, last case scenario, by going into download mode and using Odin. If you screw up a bootloader install bad enough, you may lose download mode, and thus your phone unless you get outside assistance (A jig or jtag).

[Q] Original Android stock firmware download link

Hi guys, I need to install the stock firmware (original) on my Vibrant T595. Where can I download the original android 2.2.1 firmware?
Thanks,
Dinesh.
Vibrant android developement/stickies/bible
Project-V 6-5-11
Hmm... T595?? T959 Maybe?
Stock = JFD (not 2.2.1)
Check my signature.
I installed the I-9000 build (JVH_JV3_JPO) and flashed it on my Vibrant using ODIN. The home button is not working. Also, I cant hear the recipient's voice on calls. Any fixes? Or should I go back to one of those custom ROM?

Yeah you shouldn't have done that if you are not using an I9000. If you are using a Vibrant, use the guide in s15274n's signature to go back to stock JFD and then flash a custom 2.2.1 rom if that's what you want. There is no stock 2.2.1 made specifically for the Vibrant, only ports from the I9000.
After a lot of trouble, I finally managed to install the team whiskey ROM. Is there any news when will gingerbread will be rolled out for vibrant?

[Q] Can't flash a custom kernel on AT&T Atrix

I've tried again and again, following multiple sets of directions, but for some reason, whenever I try to flash faux's OC UV GB Kernel for my AT&T Atrix, the phone won't boot or get past the boot screen. I have no idea why this could be happening and have tried whatever I could think of to fix the problem but no luck so far.
I've tried to flash previous versions as well as the latest version of faux's kernel using Romracer's latest CWM, but it hasn't worked. I keep having to flash back to the stock AT&T kernel to get the phone to boot up. I've tried this on the HomeBase Rom, DARKSIDE Rom and on the Alien Rom. The ROMs work fine with the stock kernel though.
I also tried flashing CM7 and faux's CM7 but that didn't work either.
Anyone think of why this could be happening and have any suggestions that I could try to get this working?
Thanks in advance for the help.

When I have flashed a rom like DARKSIDE, which has the kernel built-in, the phone won't boot and I have the same issue, even though it has the correct kernel, unless I flash back to stock at&t kernel.
He has a GB version and a CM version out. Are you sure you're using the correct version for your rom?

yes, I have tried the GB AT&T/Unified Version for when i have flashed a GB Rom and I tried the CM7 Kernel for when I flashed CM7, neither kernel was working for their respective roms.

Sorry it took a while for me to get back to you, thanks for your suggestion, I did try this but still no results. I reflashed pudding and put recovery back and then tried flashing the kernel again but it still gives me the same result. Anyone have any other ideas i could try?
I also tried doing a full wipe after flashing the kernel as well, that didn't work either.
sorry man, i can't think of anything that might be causing that problem. you should send Faux123 a tweet and ask him about it, if he has spare time he might be able to help you out
Does anyone have any ideas i could try to get this workong? I'd really love to use faux's kernel on my atrix.

The stock rom is still there, I never changed it. What did it was the kernel being changed I believe.

Thanks for the reply however I have now sorted the issue. I had forgotten about this thread hence forgotten to say it was solved. It turns out the problem was an imcompatability issue as the stock kernel everywhere is for 2.3 however in the UK we have 2.2. When it said the kernel was european I assumed it was uk. So I removed the kernel from the stock chinese 2.2 rom and put that in a .tar file and flashed that.

Hi I've got the same problem. Could you put the .tar kernel that you used up please and also did you get any further with finding a viable kernal/rom for the UK version to get 2.3?
EDIT: I used this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1446774

If you need to ever put your player back on stock kernel just extract the kernel from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1444636 and put it in a tar

[Q] Samsung Galaxy S2 i-777 does not turn on only blinking black flashes

okay so I read through some of the threads and I still don't know how to fix my issue. I rooted my phone using Odin v 1.85 and used siyah 3.4.2. I did it successfully and everything was good. I then gave the phone to my cousin and he said he performed a factory reset to get rid of everything on the phone ( contacts ,etc). Now when I turn on the phone it shows the samsung galaxy display with the triangle and then the screen goes black and just blinks. It still goes back into download mode I just dont know what to do to fix the problem. I know I'm a noob but please HELP!!!
Development section. You'll find the stickies that show how to flash stock packages with Odin. Go back to stock to fix your issue. You should then be able to load a new kernel and flash a custom rom.
Oh, and never let that cousin touch the phone again.

You will need to root first. If you did not flash the stock plus root package already, flash that, and then install a custom kernel which has ClockworkMod Recovery. Then you can flash any firmware.
There is a good guide linked in my signature.

Thanks. I Used "Odin3 One-click Downloader I-777 UCKH7 Stock + Root No Bootloaders" to go back to stock.
I'm going to install Mobile Odin lite, I already found the flash kernel for the I-777. After installing both of these I should be good to flash the ROM of my choice by just putting the rom on the sd card right?

Flash a kernel with ClockworkMod Recovery, then boot into recovery and flash the firmware. Mobile Odin can't handle the CWM flashable zip format.
There is a Siyah kernel for gingerbread that would give you CWM so you could then flash a custom rom. It would be in the development section. Just make sure you grab the version for gingerbread and not ics

I assume you mean nandroid backup from ClockworkMod Recovery? No. It's mainly a space issue, where you want to store them, because they take up quite a bit of space, especially if you have several.
