I see on the I-mate support site that I don't have the newest extrom; I do have the newest radio and rom. Is it worth blanking my device to upgrade? I don't see anything on the site that describes the benefits. What say you all?
Well I can say from my experience that if you don't have a problem with it just leave it alone. I did the entire update and what I found was that the phone started acting real crazy and would not want to register one of our networks. I then went and re-do the upgrade once more it remove the .800 EXT ROM and replaced it with the...126EXT ROM. Now the part that was not working works sometime and for now I will have to live with it until I can afford another one or get the real fix. Can you confirm how your phone is behaving and all the networks?
Oh it works fine; guess I will wait.
UPDATED:-
A lot of member found that software fix is working. Please read throught the thread.
I found out that a lot of people using Mozart have this problem. And many blame this on software.
But its not. Its hardware problem. I create this thread to solve this once and for all. If your screen is unresponsive after wakeup from sleep, its HTC LCD touch screen problem. Send it back to HTC.
It happened to my HTC Mozart too. I send it back and I got a new HTC Mozart. The screen is super reponsive.
My Mozart is fine, push the power button and immediatly as the screen lights up slide my finger upwards and it unlocked perfectly and responds normally
Although I have had it where I unlock the device and something happens and then the screen doesn't respond. I then just lock it, unlock it and its fine. I say something happens as I really dunno what happens and can't really remember but it was not just a wake up from sleep thing.
That has only happened twice or so.
Thanks KK. I too thought it was software problem. Will send my device to service center after the festive holidays.
i think this is software .Forum in China, many people brush t-mobile's rom, this is no problem .and you can set a screen password key,This problem will be much better
Microsoft officials have told htc this problem
it's a software problem confirm
when you send it back theyll just ship you back a new calibrated screen mozart with the same hardware, becaue when i broungt my mozart to a htc service center in thailand they told me that the factory rom is defected and need to be calibrated, so i let them calibrate the screen for me. After half an hour i got my phone back with super responsive screen. no more lockscreen lag or slide to answer/endcall problem

I had an HTC 7 Mozart from T-Mobile DE but it kept restarting itself with T-Mobile ROM or with Europe ROM. So i send it to HTC for repair. They sent me a new Mozart with the latest T-Mobile ROM and i even upgraded the HTC Update in Zune but the left side of screen is unresponsive and it affects all the screen to. I then flashed the Europe ROM, even updated to Mango RTM, made a reset, but the problem remains and i'm going to have to send it to HTC again.
If its a bad screen calibration or not, its HTC fault and hardware fault, not software. I haven't been able to solve this with any ROM or software upgrade or reset. It's definatly a hardware/HTC issue.
op you are wrong
how is it a hardware problem if its solved after flashing the stock rom back on?
it happened 2 times on mine with debranded roms
and dissapeared each time after flashing tmo_de back on
now im on official tmo_de nodo, if it returns, i will probably sell it

Hi! I think u are right, so I'm trying to find an unbranded rom for my phone that is compatible with Italy.
Can u help me to find one ?
it was a hardware issue for my device... they replaced the LCD and i have not had any problems. my only beef is that i had to send mine back to Australia for repair; it took 6 months before my device was returned to me!

Maybe it has to do with some devices, but i received my HTC Mozart from Tmob de with nodo with this issue. I unbranded to an Europe rom and the problem remained. I even went to Mango RTM and the problem is always there.
Lastly so i can send the phone to Tmob de again and use the warranty i reflashed to latest tmob de ROM (1.32) and checked: the problem is there. I even got the HTC update on Zune but nothing solved my problem.
So my issue is definitely a hardware problem... This is a new device HTC send me, because the 1st one kept restarting, this one has the touch screen problem and i hope the 3rd one will be ok!!
I have 2 major issues about HTC support care:
1- If i bought a phone on Germany i cant use the warranty in Portugal - it has to be on Germany! This is very annoying
2- Since the launch, none of the HTC phones with WP7 can send nor receive MMS messages on TMN network from Portugal. Other networks work fine, and other WP7 phones also work fine. This has something to do with a bad configuration that HTC Connection Setup makes on the phone for the TMN network. They know this issue since day one and almost a year later they haven't been able to solve it, despite several updates the HTC Connection Setup had!! Incredible!
i have the same problme i think i should wait for the mango update to see if the problme remains before sending it back
little update here
as i said reflashing it fixes the problem, but only for the moment
i can absolutely guarantee that after reflash, 10 days ago i could unlock the phone by dragging the wallpaper , starting from the minute number going to the top,
NOW, 10 days later and after nodo update- not sure if it matters, it wont unlock unless i do it on the edges of the screen
time to buy another phone,
too bad because i really liked wp7, simple and functional(mango that is) nodo is for the year 2008
looking for a unibody phone, probably desire s
another update, now for the second half of the day my phone works fine, after putting it on sale...
this is what i did after i last saw the problem
1. started music, didnt play it
2. switched on data connection and 3g -started internet
3. switched them off
stayed in pocket of cloth pants
4. took a call 1 failed unlock
5. tried some more unlocks
6. internet on 3g on internet, stayed on wooden bench then youtube and played sata launch, internet off
stayed in pocket
7. switch on data connection and 3g, browse internet
8. played games: sata launch and fastball 2
took 2 calls, unlock worked
left internet and 3g on
now after ~5 hours left alone on leather wallet it works flawlessly every time
i mentioned the surroundings because i thought it had connection with static energy, grounding
so here it is, my guess is 3g on but i cant explain it
i will leave it on
ill tell you more, if its normal from now on im not selling it
Sent my Mozart last Friday and got it back this afternoon. The Service Center reflashed the ROM. After 6 hours the lock screen is still working good.
Was informed by them that they already have Mango 7720 final release and testing it. Release date is yet to be confirmed.
I had this problem and after updating the HTC firmware it almost never happens. So I bet this is a HTC firmware problem.
not only htc
i heard it happened on omnia also
mine works as it should
im happy
After applying the new firmware included with the leaked 7720 Mango ROM, I have not had this problem once
The only solution that worked for me, is installing this rom:
RUU_Mozart_TMO_DE_1.28.111.03_5.52.09.16_22.33a.50 _RELEASE from
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=857561
After that, i installed the available updates through Zune, all works smoothly now.
I have this rom for months, everything is ok, so it s NOT a hardware problem.

If you need certain ROM only your touchscreen can work, it IS hardware problem. Means the touchscreen is very flaky.
The touchscreen supposed to work especially with official ROM. And supposed to work with any ROM.
It just means your touchscreen is bordering failure. I wouldn't want to keep the touchscreen if I were you....
I mean, if a customer who is not so inclined to flash their phone, if they change the phone hardware to a new one with official ROM without touchscreen problem, it will just mean it is HARDWARE problem.
HTC firmware no problem. I'm using HTC firmware fine thank you.
"If you need certain ROM only your touchscreen can work, it IS hardware problem."
I have to say that i strongly disagree with your statement.
It is not just a certain ROM, it is the stock ROM.
When i bought my Mozart the screen worked perfectly.
I flashed new ROMs for a couple of times and i saw the screen had problems.
Then i reverted back to the stock ROM RUU_Mozart_TMO_DE_1.28.111.03_5.52.09.16_22.33a.50 _RELEASE and everything works perfectly.
If someone has a responsiveness problem with the stock ROM, then it might be a hardware problem.
4.3 update causes strange glitch
Hello,
I'm somewhat new to the rooting world of Android but when I got my Note 2 last year the first thing I did was root it and unlock the bootloader, and kept that through the 4.1.2 (if I recall correctly) update. I knew I wasn't getting 4.2 and jumping straight to 4.3 as was Verizon's plan. I waited patiently and forgot about it entirely, so a couple of days ago I found the stock rooted deodex rom located here. I thought I had made the correct decision, it seemed to be for my phone, it flashed with no issues (both the rom and firmware) and runs fine except for one flaw which has proven to be a pain due to it cancelling my alarm every morning.
Whenever the lock screen comes up, the phone things a touch happens right in the middle of the screen. Nothing's there, but it doesn't matter what happens, I push the power button, plug its charger into it, it will always send out that one little ripple and as a result it cancels my alarm. I looked through the thread, I appear to be the only one with this issue.
Any recommendations?
I've been having issues where I will make a call or receive a call and the other person can't hear me. It doesn't happen every call which is strange. The microphone works in Google Now and other apps.
I'm on the new firmware 4.13 and currently running Viper 4.0.0 though the issue started earlier when I was running Sin's Sense 5.5 rom. Before switching to Viper 4.0, I re-ran the firmware zips from Capt which wiped my internal sd and did a full wipe, but that didn't seem to help. I have not done the official HTC Ruu yet. I do not use PCs at home so I've not had access to a stable PC yet. That is the next thing on my list to try but I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced something similar.
I've tried cleaning the microphone holes, both the one at the bottom and the one at the top. It happens some times and not others which makes it hard to track down.
Thanks for any help!
Your mic is probably beginning to fail. The same thing happened to my first Evo LTE that I purchased. The entire process took about 2-3 months. Eventually, it might stop working completely.
While I'm not saying that this is definitely the case for you, it is very likely, as I had the same experience. Reflashing your firmware should be the first step, then run a RUU if the firmware flash doesn't help. If not, you might need a new phone, buddy.
My main advice is to activate Sprint TEP insurance from now ($5 per month), if you dint have any. Depending on the problem, they replace your device for free. But you can't enter Sprint with the problem.

Thanks! As this problem has been happening more often in the past few weeks, I bit the bullet last night and ordered a M8. Darn, I just had to upgrade... hehe
But your comment does touch on another question I had. I guess Sprint still offers more than one level of insurance? I used to have the full TEP for $11 per month, but cancelled it after I was due for a new phone. I bought the M8 and added it back on, but with HTC's new screen replacement policy, I'm wondering if I should try to downgrade the full TEP to something smaller, and less $ per month. Is there still a lower tier?
I have the same issue on my Evo but I think mine is related to the bottom of the frame not being fully connected to the phone (brother dropped it a lot). Anyone think that could be the issue?

Hi folks,
Short version:
My rooted HTC One Max running ViperMax switches from 3G to 4G every 30 seconds or so even not touching the phone. Video of it here:

Long version with extensive history on the AndroidForums:

Thanks in advance!

Man I seemed to have stumped two forums! Grrr.
One consolation, with everyone off the 3G "highway" congestion isn't anywhere near as bad as years ago and I rarely buffer anything anymore on 3G.
Ah well. One more year until I qualify for a new phone, think they'll come out with a new version of this great phone?
Try a stock rom and see?
I don't think it's the ROM, I mentioned on the other forum (which I went into with more detail than here, link in my OP) that this problem occurred before my bootloop problem which caused me to do a factory reset. I was running stock back then. The problem still persisted, I thought it may have been a sprint problem. I was hoping this ViperMax ROM might fix my radio problem, but no dice.
Thanks for the reply!
p.s. I notice in your phone history you went from a Max to a One M8. Did you have a problem going to a smaller screen? I'm afraid I'm spoiled with this one.

Well you may want to take out your sim card and just insert it back. A re-seat as some people say or may wanna get a new sim. may want to factory reset with stock recovery. lots of options to try.
and it was very hard to go to m8. But the speed of the m8 makes up for the smaller screen size. But I still miss the large screen.
