I dropped my phone today, and found some sort of cracked glass under my invisible shield.
As the pictures says, the crack is almost unnoticeable if you look at it straight... but if you look at it sideways, you can see the cracked glass.... the SAMOLED is not ruined i dont think, but the glass sure is...
Will the following product be a good replacement for this ? or will the tmobile replace it under warranty? do you guys think they will be able to spot that?
http://www.repairsuniverse.com/samsung-vibrant-t959-lcd-touch-screen-replacement.html
AMOLED displays won't get ruined by a piece of plastic touching it because the whole screen is an array of lights
Another good thing about AMOLED!
About the warranty... I think this depends on the person checking your phone for warranty status. If the employee is doing his job quick, he might not notice the crack. Though if he really checks everything, it will be detected.
The good thing here is that your screen still works... but how is the touch input? Is it distorted around the area of the crack?
I think you should try to repair it; buy the parts online, check out a tutorial, etc.

The touch interface is perfect... it doesn't have any distortion or anything around anywhere...

I couldn't find a lot of replacement parts online. I found some which are just LCD screen and not SAMOLOED according to some forums... this was the only one that says that it is SAMoLED, but there was no reviews or nothing about this website, so i don't know weather its genuinely SAMOLED or not. Any feedback will be appreciated...
I called tmobile and the rep said that there is nothing that they can do about it.

I just recently purchased a Samsung Galaxy S2 from eBay, the seller stated that the LCD screen was "very dark" and not quite working right. When I received the phone it was far more then "very dark", half of the screen looks as if the LCD is leaking out or has been broken? The digitizer is mint and works and the phone its self is in AMAZING shape. NO scratches or chips or anything. It honestly looks brand new. I even tested the battery for usage and its showing up that this battery IS indeed brand new. Like I said it is mint so there is no possible way this phone was dropped. My first guess was a ROM issue, but I just noticed you can see the screen defect without the phone even being turned on. So what I am thinking is water damage. I read all over online about people having problems with there screens going black, this might also be the case. If it is water damage, does anyone know EXACT locations of indicators on the phone? I looked in the battery compartment and found nothing what so ever. I want to sell this thing today, (just received it in the mail) I need the cash so I was hoping someone would be able to point me in the right direction?? I uploaded photos below, the second one is with the phone turned off, the reflection is from my computer. For reference, it is the Samsung Galaxy SII 19100, with Bell Canada. Thanks in advanced!
I'm no expert but does not look like something you can fix yourself I'm afraid.
Send it back I say.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using XDA App
send it back to whoever sold it
you kinda got scammed there, imho
See Im trying to figure out if the LCD was broken by physical damage or if this has happened before to people, because if its a manufacturing issue I can just send it back to Samsung and they will fix it no problem as long as this was caused on their part. If it WAS broken by the ebay seller, I might be better off buying a new lcd and installing it myself. I only paid $200CAD so it would be worth keeping if all thats wrong is the LCD. But like I said I would rather Samsung do it, lol its free.

Scratch that, the LCD is almost $200. Not worth buying and fixing. But does anyone know if this could be classified as a manufacturing issue? I can just send it in if it is?
anybody at all?? I just want to confirm that this could be a manufacturing issue, theres no water damage and the screen is not cracked from a drop any ideas would be awesome. I might just try to send it in to Samsung just to see what happens.
So I found a Samsung GT-i9100T on the ground last week. The screen is cracked badly and I think the camera on the back is even messed up b/c the lens points slightly upwards instead of pointing center. I'm pretty crafty and good with fixing electronics but eBay research shows digitizers are crazy expensive ~$150. Is it worth fixing?? The phone powers up but the screen stays black so I'm pretty sure it's the digitizer apparatus... Any thoughts??

I m damn sure that person who lost it or probably dropped would hav blocked its IMEI.. So even if u spend some dollars to make up it is of NO USE!! Sometimes u might get caught if he s claiming insurance as the mobile is lost!! So careful..
what do u mean i'll get caught?? Is it criminal? I have no way of returning the phone and i'm pretty sure they won't want it anyway b/c it's busted.. will i get fined or something?
Scrap it dude, not worth the trouble and money.
I'll give you about treefiddy for it.
$150 is pretty good considering you getting it for just that amount, only thing is you are unsure of the internal stuff until you get the screen up & running. so that's a risk.
I'm in school right now and go to pull out my phone from my pocket and my screen wouldn't turn on. I come to see little hairline cracks on my screen but not on my glass which is odd. Now my phone turns on but the screen itself is just dead. I am rooted and running a rom so what should I do? Please help me!

OK, If you're not insured then you need to look at this video by Erica Griffin. Yes, this is for the GS3 but it really shouldn't be any different for the GS4. Her Vid on YouTube shows you how to replace the screen with digitizer and using all of the other parts from your current phone. It's actually a good video to see just so you know how easy this stuff is to do. The screen w/digitizer seems to run around $200 which is way better then $500-600 to buy a new phone outright. Just remember, I'm just giving you a cheaper option to fix it if you don't have insurance.

They claim that as long as they can't prove that the cracks were from impact there shouldn't be a problem. I'm afraid they might screw me over. But i mean the glass is completely fine and my sides have small nicks from previous small drops. im gonna try to unroot and wipe tomorrpw after school
My screen blacked out a week ago but been too busy to deal with it. Display comes through MHL onto my TV display so wonder do I need all parts mentioned? There's no crack in my display, but to my surprise the "moisture detector" sticker is tainted red (the big visible one, as I understand there are multiple stickers -- can someone confirm this to be correct?).
I may just take a risk and request replacement over the phone. Once or more in the past, I've had a warranty period issue replaced with the warning "...if its determined to be your fault, we will charge you the full retail price" and I've sent them bootloader unlocked, watermarked phones and they let it slide. There truly was no submersion or even open case exposure to water, I'm not sure how sensitive this particular sensor is to humidity or moisture through an enclosed back.
Anybody else surprised to see their "watermark" turn red when they feel it should not have been? From past experience having phones replaced via phone support, I'd wager they take my rooted, broken-display phone and never charge me for it.........................I been with VZW a decade and a half and then Bell Atlantic Mobile and planned in about 220-250 consistently for nearly a decade.........I'm not saying VZW is prone to show courtesy for longevity, but this could be 3-4 such instances in the smartphone era of questionable watermarks of rooted and flashed-to-hell Blackberries including blatant cracks...............

I literally just watched my phones screen shatter itself right in front of me. It was sitting on my desk next to my keyboard and I heard a cracking noise, so i looked over and the screen was super cracked. I went to pick it up, and when I did, the screen cracked even more and is a mess now. I've dropped my fair share of phones and iPods, and know what cracks like that look like (spiderwebbing out from a point), but this one looks nothing like that. The whole screen is messed up.
My questions are these:
1. Would Verizon provide me with a replacement phone because I didn't drop it (I doubt it)?
2. How hard would it be for me to replace my own screen/find parts to do so?
Thanks
P.S. I am trying to get my old DX2 to turn on so I can upload pictures of what it looks like.

It's been mentioned lots of times before. Look around you may even find a video or two on changing the screen.
With physical damage don't count on VZ replacing it in store.

I have watched the videos and such, but I am still super confused about what I need. The screen still works perfectly, all i want is a new glass front. Can I order one of the glass lens/digitizer combos and use that? Those are about 20 bucks, but if I get one with the LCD screen included (again, my screen works fine) it goes up to about 80, at which point I would just go with VZW and get it replaced for 99. I am really confident that I just need the lens/digitzer thing, but I have read things about the screen and digitizer being fused together and that is what confuses me.

NO!... The digitizer is bonded to the LCD and I've not seen one person successfully change just it. There's no reason it should even be sold.
The combo is the way to go and I'd go one step further and get the frame and adhesive for about an extra $25 just to not have to deal with separating it. That's the hardest part int eh videos.
Wait... Verizon charges $100? Is that through Assurion?

Yup 100 through Assurion. I'm really mad cause I didn't break it and I can't afford the LCD combo or the VZW replacement so it looks like I'm just stuck.

Hi
Sorry if wrong category. I was sheard forum and i dont found that problem.
So, i have S6 Edge with broke glass screen. In my country everyone say its impossible replace it. I must pay one month pay work for new screen......
But i saw many YT tutorials where mens from other countries do it.
I have
New glass(cheap chinese)
hair dryer
UV flashlight
UV Glue
deck of cards
scalpel
But, no one says how i can clean old glue and how i can repair long hole in side device(i want incuding photo but i cant), that thing under glass but upper screen become detached. Can i use screen glue? When i push in specific place then touch buttons work, normaly no i use ****[email protected] program and TouchWiz always screaming at me when he need some app permissions so i must reinstall it over and over...
Sorry for my tragic English, this is not my native language. I tryed hard. Thanks everyone for help.
Hmm I know other people who have been in this situation where the screens are very expensive or hard to replace. They purchased phone insurance and then made a claim a few weeks later and got the screen fixed.. after reading you've already attempted so you'd have the extreme cases of saying it was lost... There's many things wrong with this method but many do it

Okay, well hopefully someone on here can give you some good advice
i tried replacing my screen, i ended up tearing the LCD so had to buy a new LCD assembly which is easy to replace but it costs a fair bit more.
this is by far the best way but if you want to just try the screen then be very very careful as the LCD is glued to the screen and hard to seperate.
That hole its biger and biger. Now i have left and rigjt button with only back funcion. Something is really bad there. I must repair this fast.
OK, theme to close. I **** up screen. Never ever repair phone when drunk. Eeverything go to trash.
