Hi, I'm using Eugene's froyo rom and currently getting only 8 hours tops of battery and many bugs along that. I'm wondering what I should do, should I go back to stock 2.1 or does anyone recommend a good rom? Also will flashing back to a 2.1 rom wipe my internal space like it did when I went to a 2.2 rom?

Try Bionix Fusion it gets great battery life. I flashed Eugenes Froyo and lost everything. When I went back to Fusion it did not wipe.

What do you mean when you said you lost everything? Did you loose the contents of /sdcard and /sdcard/sd ???
Both Eugene's and Som's ROM's wipe the data clean, and do not touch /sdcard and /sdcard/sd where all your personal stuff is usually stored.
@OP: are you running Eugene's ROM on the original Galaxy S or the Vibrant US variant?
I use Bionix Final i get 20+ hours of life, and i use it like non stop.

Which version of Eugene's Froyo are you using? He's got two separate Froyo Rom's out and only updating one of them. Have you tried the lastest JPA Macnut?
Also, whenever I flash a new ROM I always wipe the battery stats thru ClockworkRecovery to get the most out of my battery life. As far as recommended ROM's go, I'm sticking with 2.1 ROMs for now since I need the GPS on my daily driver. Hope this helps a bit.

Ok before everybody goes crazy over here and starts to roast me for putting up such a noob question and all that and telling me to search.. Here it goes.. Dont do it please!
Ok so i got TeamWiskey's Froyo 2.2 i like the rom and everything but the phone and contacts.apk suck they are terribly laggy and etc. So also my launcherpro plus seems to lag a bit more on 2.2 so now im wondering how to revert back to 2.1 without using ODIN! i dont do odin i dont know odin and i dont wanna mess with odin.. So is it possible i can just flash a 2.1 kernel like TeamWiskeys Core v3 and then flash a 2.1 Rom? Or no its not possible..
I have not done it personally, but if you flash the stock JI6 kernel you could probably just restore one of your nandroid backups of stock (assuming you have one).
Just install Bionix or something

I dont think installing bionix or fusion will get me back to 2.1 kernel or will it? And hmm i dont want to risk anything nd im not sure if i have a nandroid of 2.1 or is my nandroid 2.2
just flash a rom with a kernel that is built into the rom. any of the bionix roms should do.

Yes, almost (It think all) custom 2.1 ROMs have a kernel built in.
I know Master Rom does
Bionix does
Fusion does
etc
If you open the zip & go to updates & see zImage then yes
Alrite cool so ill just try that i didnt trust myself into doing it and risking a brick so yeah thanks for the help guys//
Ok it worked somebody can lock this now.. All i did was flash another fusion rom =]
Hey folks
Well I have had my share of messups with my vzn fsc.
Things are settled now as I have been Ble to figure out the stuff.
So after trying superclen, evilfascination, and community rom I have come to the conclusion that personally (and no offence to no one) I like the stock roms more but without the samsung and verizon bloatware.
Could you great guyz suggest me the best debloated and all stock rom which is smooth to operate, has great battery life and doesnt hVe any known issues.
I would b highly thankful for the help, pl link me to the threads guyz.
Regards
UPDATE : guyz the kind suggestion given my dnoyeb here in the second post is really awesome and i suggest all should try this.

I ended up in going back to pure stock via odin. Then did the ota updates to ed03. From there did the following:
Odin cwm 2.5 from jt click here
3 finger on first boot into cwm
Install adryn's ed01 debloat/debing click here
Install imnuts -100 voodoo (or -50 or stock voltage) click here
Installed latest su zip pack (probably not needed) click here
Booted up, voodoo conversion
Then rebooted back to recovery, which is now 3.x after installing imnuts, installed following:
Sbrissen's tsm mod package click here
The shortlight package click here
Rebooted, all done.
Great battery life, runs great with launcherpro

If you followed the steps by dnoyeb, then you are correctly set up on a debloated/deodexed ED01 ROM. Your baseband is the modem/radio and would not have changed after you followed Adrynalyne's post to get to ED01 quickly. You flashed imnuts' ED03 ODIN package which would have given you the stock ED03 ROM and kernel, but not the ED03 modem so you were still at ED01 modem which is fine. Then you followed dneyob's steps to flash the ED01 Debloated/Deodexed ROM which would have changed you to the ED01 build from ED03 build. For all intents and purposes ED01 and ED03 are the same thing. ED03 simply added in a fix for those people who could not receive the ED01 OTA update. The verizon and android both flashing at the same time is just an overlapping boot animation that happened because as I recall you could not do a complete data wipe/factory reset for fear of losing the verizon network while you are in India. So other than that little quirk of the overlapping boot animations, you should be exactly where you wanted to end up - a debloated ED01 ROM and with imnuts' -100mv kernel you should see better battery life if your phone can handle the undervolting.
Congrats!
i guess i did exactly as you have outlined,
i am now gonna caliberate the battery and will revert tomorrow about the backup and stuff
love ya

when i first was learning how to root and flash, the thread for the evilfascination rom taught me everything i know. it does a great job in describing the steps to root and then flash the rom. i personally stuck with the evil fascination because its been so stable from the getgo and i love the overall theme of it. I kept getting peculiar bugs with comrom that i did not know enough yet to try and fix.
I suggest you go to the fascinate android development forum, and read the evil fascination thread.
I updated my post on the first page with links incase anyone else was looking at a quick rundown with links on how to get to a fully rooted / debinged / debloated type setup quickly.
Thanks a bunch matey.
God bless.

if yes then someday i might also wanna try this out, coz as and when i use 3G my battery drains like hell with the debloated setup as well.
would appreciate some more suggestions.

with EA28 and ED04 + PBJ sv 531 kernal i get pretty much good backup and good 3g speeds too.

thanks in advance!

I kinda had the same question as you and the feedback I got was that Project V seems to be what ppl are recommending. I installed bionix 1.3.1 and like it, no problems whatsoever, but I think I'm ready a day or so later to try something else. Project V is what I'm gonna go with.
Hi all i flashed miui last night and things did not go so well i followed this guide and flashed CI500_VZW_EB01_FROYO to revert to stock but how can i confirm that everything is completely back, im mostly wondering about the kernel is that stock?
Thanks!
Well, if you odined the EB01 package and it was successful, then you're on stock with the stock kernel. Odining that full package completely wipes all system data.
If you really want to be sure, go to settings > About phone and check to make sure the baseband is EB01 and Android version is 2.2 or 2.1 and not 2.3.
If it booted fine then you're "stock". But I think the ed01 packages only include ec30 modem. So you wouldn't wanna take it to the store or send it back that way.
good day. using xda premium.
Thanks everyone I'm back to stock

I haven't updated my my old faithful Vibrant in a while (then again, it's running amazingly fast and smooth and battery life is up in the 12+ hours range after average use) and was curious about Ice Cream Sandwhich. From what I've seen, it's fantastic, everyone loves it, yadda yadda yadda.
My Vibrant is running Froyo 2.2 with BionixNext Gen V2 ROM, Tigersblood Kernel and a KB5 Modem.
So my question: is there a way to flash to ICS without going back to stock 2.1 and doing so straight from the phone? Or do I need to go the whole Odin/laptop/USB cable route?
And any good recs for ROMs running on 2.2 in case I can't flash ICS? I'm a tad tired of Bionix.
Thanks all!
Download ics rom, download subzero or glitch kernel. Flash kernel, reboot recovery or use 3 buttons to get into recovery and flash ics.

You can do what Alex says.
Look at the link in my signature on a more detailed description of the process.
Just so you know, if you decide ICS isn't for you then you will have to go the Odin route back to non-ICS. Also there is a very real danger of getting the dreaded Encryption Error Bug (see top of my ICS guide for more details) .
As long as you didn't update to Froyo through Samsung Kies you should be OK. If you used Kies, revert to stock then cm7 then ICS.

Crap, I think I did upgrade using Kies, but it's been so long I forgot. Once I had Froyo, Bionix and Tigersblood running well I never flashed anything so it's been a while since I tinkered with the phone.
Thanks all, I'll look into the guides a bit more (been reading many of them and there are several different ways of doing this which is why I posted, I wanted to be absolutely sure before flashing).

You can optionally install a kernal like glitch but not necessary - I recommend Icy Glitch V14

Just so you know there may have been some very creative editing in the video. It doesn't cover everything and is a bit outdated also. I have read that people get stuck in some parts of it and also that some get through to full flash. Just take care.

Some will have to flash CM7 as an intermittent step between 2.2 and 4.0. It helps convert the /system partion to MTD correctly and smoothly. It isn't required but a good idea. (Note: flashing CM7 will not give you Gingerbread Bootloaders which are also no longer required but heavily recommended)
...and read up on the Encryption Unsuccessful error.

I don't think there was any creative editing lol. Djeddieone is a very trusted source actually. If someone messed up by watching his video then they didn't follow directions correctly or they upgraded through samsung kies and forgot to revert to stock first. There are a few comments on there saying it doesn't work but those guys did not realize this video is for Samsung vibrant only, that's their fault lol.
