what the why is it so fast - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i remember when i try to put widgets on the screen
it takes about 10~20 sec them to pop up
and now its like instant
idk if this made the difference
i just deleted every data and removed all the lag fix ..its completely stock right now and it feels like its faster... what is happening..
im running JFD btw
wow...every apps opens instantly...

Maybe because you deleted everything. Or you're just lucky or imagining things.

ADW EX seems to be restarting itself a lot on me...

I'm not really using any huge widgets or a ton of home screens, but lately the system has been killing it. I have it set to be persistent in the app settings and in CM settings. Is there any way to monitor its memory use?

Got it not to o long ago and having same prob, just thot it was unstable
It needs a lot of work. Although I've finally got things set up in such a way that ADW EX plays nicely with everything else, runs very fast, and never crashes on me. The only remaining problem is that it occassionally gets dumped from memory, even though I've got it set up to "Keep home in memory." So I have to watch it reload when returning to the home screen one out of every ten times. Other than that, it's beast.
Ive been using it for a couple months thru most of the nightlies upto rc2 and for me I was always able to fix every problem by switching to ADW stock and just giving up on the EX I't contantly froze up after more than 20 or so minutes in lock, no matter how long I gave it to setup after coming off lockscreen it would often still Fc or just freeze, there has seemed to be a lil less problems with rc2 though, most of the FCs I was getn could be avoided by not having any screen transition fx other than the stock scroll, this was killing me constantly, when I disabled it it almost ran smooth, almost! With the theme chooser now im so tempted to just toss it.
I think I found out what may have been causing it. I was also using Multitasking Pro, and I had it mapped to a double-click of the home button so the system thought it was my home app and kept it alive instad of ADW. Re-mapping MTP to the genius button and having ADW as my home key app fixed it. No crashes thus far.
Mine just recently started doing this and it was after i flashed RC2. I remembered this thread so I came over. It force closes constantly on a reboot until it seems to settle itself but I also get a force close on every phone call which blocks the caller id until i force close it. It's getting annoying but I love the design of my homescreen so i'm kind of torn. A fix permissions did nothing to rectify it. I guess i'll try to reinstall it and see what happens. Maybe Titanium Backup messed with it, I don't know.

MikShifted G Executive loading slow?

I recently switched to this ROM and I've noticed the last couple of days when I unlock the screen it takes aprox 5-10 seconds for the clock widget and my app icons to appear. It dosent have the little black box that says loading but it actts like it should lol. Anybody have a direction they can point me in?

Dowload Cache Cleaner from the market. You should also be rebooting at least daily.

[Q] cyanogenmod 7 slow

Hello guys
I'm new ith this rom I jut downloaded it yesterday It' very nice and very speed in every place expect the launcher(ADW) When i opened any app and this click home button it takes a few seconds to write widgets and icon
I have only 1 screen with 3 widgets and 3 icons !!!!!
why it's slow like that should I do some thing or download another launcher or what?
please help me!!
well i guess u dont need to download anything or any other launcher and i guess its the cm7 behaviour ..
but I heard it ill make my phone very faster
Maybe it's your phone that dosen't work with Cynaogenmod well
but every thing expect the home screen works good
The app(s) dosen't work well in Cyanogen?
NOOOOOOo it works very well
but the home screen only
I meant the widgets don't work well
the widget works well but it takes some seconds to appear also icons
I mean the launcher seems to start again every time
When i have Widgets on my U8300 it takes some time (Like 10 secs)
EDIT: What phone?
why??
this is the question we should find a reason
lg optimus me
The launcher only is the slow
it seems it starts again every time i press the home button
So what should I do install Another rom or launcher
Try reinstalling the stock rom and see if that works (If it dosen't it's the phone)
Will it delete my apps??
OR DATA??
Yes but just sync contacts to google and use titanium backup
dude.....it works fine on optimus .did u wipe cache and dalvik ?if yes den..maybe u ve put too many widgets that suck the ram..try less widgets den try.if the problm is still der den try reflashing
I got the idea
That I'm cm7 when you you click back button you close the app you don't. Close it but u should enable the back long press app close

Sounds like your launcher is getting forced out of memory often, thus making it 'redraw' home all the time. This happens a lot on older phones with low ram. To fix the problem on my droid 1, lock the home app in memory. There is a setting for this in the CM settings. The purge assets setting also helped me with overall performance.
Most likely it your phone having issue since I have use CyanogenMod in various device and most doesn't have issue. Since CM7 is the most stable ROM I could say is out there.

Screen refreshing after unlock

Is this the same on others devices .. when I unlock my screen the widgets and apps sometimes need a second time appear
The weather clock. Alarm widget. Google search etc all disappear as if they are not loaded .. is this a feature to save power or a design flaw ??
Sent from my GT-I9300
I've noticed that too. Like it has to load everything up again. Annoying.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
Same here with Nova launncher.
This is where I envy IOS
Here comes the whaaambulance!!!
Seriously though. I think its designed to do that. Not so much the part where they take a second to load, but to save power maybe by using less ram? I dunno.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Ah yeah sounds right to save ram it's not bothering me as such just used to HTC
Another thing anyway to delay the screen lock when I'm using the phone ... I don't want to have to change the screen lock each time from none to pattern lol
Sent from my GT-I9300
The worst part is, if I wake up phone from deep sleep them the animation on the lock screen lags.
And even the main screen would lag for few seconds before it becomes super snappy.
This wake up lag and screen refresh is very embarrassing.
My gf's I Phone never does that and she teases me a lot because of this.
I have to sollow my pride :screwy::screwy::thumbdown::thumbdown::thumbdown:

Does this happen to anyone else?

I've noticed that sometime if I'm I'm an app and I push the home button it almost instantly brings me back to my home screen and other times it has a slight half second delay. For example it will be super fast maybe 10x in a row, then it will have a slight delay but eventually gets quick again.

I experience this every now and then, usually with resource-hungry apps. Not to pretend like I know what I'm talking about (because I don't), but it might also have something to do with redraws on the launcher.

Oh yeah I'm running nova launcher prime.. No maybe it's just the launcher and not the phone at all? Other than this i really never notice any lag.
Sent from my SCH-I545 using xda app-developers app
I should mention that I also have aggressive desktop checked on nova launcher. Not sure what it does though. Maybe the next time I notice this slight delay bill restart nova launcher and if it goes away I guess I'll know it's a nova launcher issue which in sure the next update will fix.
Sent from my SCH-I545 using xda app-developers app
Ok so it's definitely nova launcher. It started having a little delay again, restarted nova, and it was back to normal. Hope the fix it.
Sent from my SCH-I545 using xda app-developers app
Ok so I actually noticed that when it starts happening, if I close all recent apps, it goes away. Thoughts?

Have you done this?
Yeah I have. If i close all recent apps then my home button speed is instant.

If you have S-Voice activated on your phone the S4 will wait about a half a second after you press the home button to see whether or not you press it again to activate S-Voice. If you disable this, it will immediately go to the home screen after pressing the home button. It is not lag, but rather a built in timer.

Nope I'm stock and running nova launcher prime. I did disable around 25 apps that seemed like bloatware.

I have had this happen a few times . I've been running the CM nightlies and just thought it was something to do with the build.
I turned my kernel to stock settings (I was overclocked) to try to replicate your problem and I guess now that I am consciously thinking about it I have it too, I don't think its a huge deal though. A quarter of a second isn't that bad to me so I don't really care. If I'm overclocked it the animation is instant. It could be the ap switcher animation that lags under high resources. Try disabling that? or OC your phone.

How do I disable it? Idk how to over clock. I'm not rooted. I'm sort of a smartphone noob. Like I said if I close all recent apps it's instant but other times it's a fraction of a second. It's not nessecarily when I have tons of apps running either.

In your developer settings, select animator duration scale and turn it to 'off' see if that helps. If not, then there isn't alot you can do unrooted I don't believe.

Oh yeah, I have all of that off. I actually just turned them all on 1x to see how it felt and it definitely isn't as fast but it feels smoother.
Sent from my Verizon Galaxy S4
Yeah I have them all at 1x and haven't touched them, I tend to stay away from most of the things in developer settings
Oh I see. I have them all off now. I uninsulated this app called system monitor lite and it seems like it always runs in the background bcuz how else would it be able to monitor my battery temp etc all day? It might be placebo but ever since I uninstalled it everything seems to be running really good.
Sent from my Verizon Galaxy S4
Well I've spent hours trying to figure this out. When I have 0 apps running, and for example I open up the phone app or contacts app, then hit the home button, it responds instantly. However, sometimes once I get a bunch of apps running in the background the home button response can slow to like half a second, almost as if that s voice home button feature was enabled. Do you think the problem here could be that a bunch of apps aren't yet optimized for the s4 so when they are running in the background they are causing some home button lag?
