I just got my replacement phone and I went to root and CXM and I am stuck in Android system recovery
Samsung Recovery Utils
-BML -
reboot system now
apply sdcard:update.zip
wipe data?factory reset
wipe cache partition
It won't let me do anything from here. I tried doing an Odin reset but nothing happened, I keep going back to this screen.
Help please.
Thanks,
OK I got it back not sure how. I tapped the home button and it restarted. All my apps are there and seem to be working but my sd card is completely empty now.
What should be on there?
never mind. I asked the phone to check for updates it did. Updated and now the sd card has its files again. Interesting the way it recovered itself. I think I'll wait till tomorrow to retry rooting.
Rumor is that the new fascinates are boot locked to stop routing and modding.

This may be the funniest thread I have ever read. Help. Im stuck in recovery!!! Do I hit the reboot system now? OMG. reboot now? What happens if I reboot.? Seriously man. All jokes aside. This phone is a whole whole whole lot harder to mess up than going to recovery

I can't agree with you more. We are drawed attention by your "help!!!", But when we come ito. You have solved the problem by yourself. You are very......
This is a development thread? epic.
Agreed that this is way too much being that it's in the Dev thread, but I suspect his confusion was about the need to hit the home button to do anything (though the rest of his posts leave me wondering if that is too much credit).
My Fascinate was boot locked.
Gasp. Bootlocking is the devils work. Why the hell would u make a device based on open sourced code if ur gonna lock it up? Just clearly state it voids the warranty and let us have our fun.

Well excuse me for not being an android wiz. I have been in recovery before but always used the power button to make changes not the home button. I guess this is where my confusion was. Excuse my ignorance.
Most people are giving you **** because you posted in the development section, which is the wrong place for this kind of thing. Glad you got everything sorted though.

Your releasing something either you haven't tested or as you said making your nook gay? Is all you did was remove apps?

Lets hope this doesn't turn into a flame war like the last new rom... Great work but I'm going to stay will official CM just to get the latest stuff first.

I applaud your work, OP, even I might not use it at all but I always courage people DIY.
Personally, if I know how to do it, I would do one for myself.
How exactly is your nook being "gay"?
Unless your nook is homosexual another term may be more appropriate. Maybe you can say it's being a <edited before I get banned>.
Just so you know, removing apps can limit what the market will show.
Have you made changes besides removing apk's?
Thanks for making a ROM!

After I installed GAPPS, and downloaded Pulse, the Market FC's every 3 seconds. I think it was probably an installation error but since I deleted my boot partition on accident, It might be a while until I can look into it.

Ya, I understand. I saw the last one and what a big flame war it was, over being told that someone couldnt use someone elses work.
boot looped
This on boot looped for me. I like the removed apps and I''ll try it again after the next update.
Yes I wiped and install the ROM twice to make sure.
But I like the idea so keep it up.

Alright, It does that for me every once in a while but it goes away after a force restart with the power button. I will just have to go step by step again and see what app is causing it. Thanks for letting me know!
But seeing as I have no boot partition, it might be next week or so until it comes out. :/
Aw, I know someone who'd love a homosexual tablet.
No disrespect, but maybe you'd like to actually know how Android works before trying to (rick)roll your own ROM? What you're offering here is easily achieved without a custom ROM, even on an already-installed tablet, so other than the fame, fortune, and tons of women, I'm not quite sure what you're on about here.
Sucks about the boot partition.
Rodney
So... this is CM7 with some apps removed and a different file manager?
I agree....however......installing CM7 on the nook is so darn easy that many people who have limited computer skills are getting in on this game. Lots of folks who could not modify the CM7 install might want something like this. I am not sure what that this particular 'custom' ROM has to offer....yet. Who knows, maybe he will eventually get a modified install worth the trouble. I have never tried it myself, but the 'phiremod' modification has its fans...it is basically the same as this but obviously much more refined and with its own theme.
Why do people flame someone who creates a new rom on this forum? Look what happened to the last rom you guys flamed. He took it down!
If you don't like what he is doing then DON'T DOWNLOAD IT! It's that easy.
Maybe this is his first attempt at a rom. For all you know he could be the next cyanogen or koush. If you flame him enough he will just say screw it and leave.
Jesus christ people just leave him alone!

Because it's a low-effort ROM. Seriously, all he did was pull a few APKs out of the ROM and didn't even test the effects of the missing APKs.
We shouldn't encourage low-effort posting like this. If someone comes out with a good ROM, people will respect that, but this isn't even a ROM. It's CM7 with APKs ripped out of it

Onhold as I accidently deleted my Boot Partition and am currently working on getting it fixed.

I have accidentally formatted my SD card before. Mistakes happen. I would like to get a CM without unusable apps on a nook. There is more to it though than just removing the apk. Market stuff, system... etc.
I also applaud the goal you are trying to reach. i have been curious for months now in seeing how much faster an odexed rom for the nook could be.(if it's possible) or at least apk optimized with unnecessary images and language packs taken out.Hopefully one day a dev can try and cook one up. Don't let anyone discourage you.
Its best for those debating on resetoing the download mode binary count to 0" to forget it unless you want to junk your phone in 5 seconds .
i did this on my note and hardbricked it instantly.. completely wiped the bootloader.
thankfully i got a waranted replac

You did it wrong.
Dude, I feel your pain, but how many threads do you need for this? Lots of us have used this method to success, you clearly did something wrong or your phone is defective.
These kind of thread should be closed immidiately. You should prove before you say these things. Hundreds of ppl did this successfully even some guys in Skyrocket forum use this.

Definitely bricked due to user error. Works fine on my AT&T i717.
Did you not read the disclaimer in the thread that it might potentially brick your phone?
You knew what you were getting yourself into, unless you flashed without reading a damn thing.
Atleast you got a new phone. I reset my counter just fine. Something was done incorrectly on your part buddy.

You've been told to not open up so many threads. Refer to this one, do not open another one on the subject!
Is there anybody out there that can make me an ODIN tar of the Novena J2 rom? It's the only way I can flash the rom on my phone, and I am unable to do it... yet. I will gladly donate!
Sir, there is no need to create multiply threads on the same subject/issue, your issue/question has been noted, I have closed your other thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2019772, but if you notice there was a post on this issue in your old thread.
Bottom-line I understand your seeking for resolution, so let's contain your issue in this thread, and Good Luck.
It wasn't done intentionally, I put it in the wrong category then switched it to q&A. Couldnt delete the other, thanks

Well after a week of asking probably 400 people how to wipe my phone in any other way than recovery, finally someone could help me and it was easy as using kies!

Ok, so good efforts by 400 people. Its always something easy.
Now we all know if our phone is stolen, a lock screen is no security.
The ultimate lesson ...?
Don't buy a phone you can't use first ...g
I thought of a few "moral of the story. . ." ideas too but surprisingly I held back.
Lulz @ "Buy"
Actually it is pretty secure i had to completely wipe everything to get in

And I'm pleased that a solution was found.
No dis-respect was intended toward the OP, simply a best practices approach next time....g
Agreed.
My S2 just went out of warranty so I decided I'd start messing around with rooting it. After all, I've modded my xbox360, xbox, and every phone prior to it that I've ever owned (nonsmart). So anyway, I visited here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18859438&postcount=199
and read through everything, downloaded it and ran it. everything was successful:
http://i.imgur.com/Ljyy1.jpg
and then when I unplugged my phone to check it out I get this error constantly popping up:
"The application Google Services Framework (process com.google.process.gapps) has stopped unexcpectedly. Please try again."
and I can't get anywhere past the stupid "click the android to start" screen. No home screen, no contacts, no nothing. That's when I realized....I downloaded and ran the wrong effing one! I accidentally used the link that flashes: zImage, factoryfs.img with root, and modem.bin, instead of the one that flashes: zImage, factoryfs.img, and modem.bin
What can I do to get myself out of this mess? Can I just rerun the correct one? I'm too scared to mess around with anything now for fear of making it worse. I definitely need to be more careful next time. Thanks for any help.
Try redownloading and reinstalling. Maybe a bad download.

Anyone with a history of modding should know that wiping solves almost all unintentional buggy software issues.

It's funny you guys are giving me such a hard time about this. I actually tried getting into recovery mode after posting this, but was using the wrong button combo the entire time thanks to technocredo dot com (apparently I can't post urls), and figured I was screwed.
Anyway, I found the correct button combination and all is now well, I'm back to square one minus any pictures I didnt back up, no biggie.
