You did it wrong.

Dude, I feel your pain, but how many threads do you need for this? Lots of us have used this method to success, you clearly did something wrong or your phone is defective.

These kind of thread should be closed immidiately. You should prove before you say these things. Hundreds of ppl did this successfully even some guys in Skyrocket forum use this.

Definitely bricked due to user error. Works fine on my AT&T i717.
Did you not read the disclaimer in the thread that it might potentially brick your phone?
You knew what you were getting yourself into, unless you flashed without reading a damn thing.

Atleast you got a new phone. I reset my counter just fine. Something was done incorrectly on your part buddy.

please pm me, if you fulfill the following criteria:
- you own your phone less then 30 days/have phone insurance and you are willing to return & replace it with a new one (or you have too much money)
- you own the at&t i717
- your flash counter is not 0 (meaning, you flashed a recovery or a kernel using odin)
- you are willing to potentially brick your device (thus the return&replace)
- your phone has cwm installed
Thanks
PS: chance to brick the phone is 50:50, even though I'm pretty confident that it won't brick...but I won't guarantee anything...

try using a usb jig. with it you will be able to get in to download mode . after that with odin you can take it to live

Yours is an error that people make fairly routinely. Since you are familiar with other phones, you think the same information applies to this phone, and then you don't take the time to read and verify your assumptions.
On the SGH-I777, ClockworkMod Recovery is built into the kernel, and therefore it is not recommended to use Rom Manager, or try to flash CWM separately. As you learned, that can be dangerous.
If you are unable to get any signs of life from the phone at all, then I would suggest you follow the advice above to use a USB jig first to see if that will get you into download mode.
If the phone shows any signs of life, let us know what.
EDIT: Or... if as the other thread implies, your sister's phone is SGH-I727, then ignore the above, and go look for help in the 727 forums.

My 2 cents your ****ed you flashed a firmware for a phone that you don't have on another phone and if you took time to read settings and found device type it would give you SGH-#### that's the forum you should be in just because it says GALAXY S II doesn't mean it's your device

Also before it's said I'm in the military and a firm believer the omitting the truth isn't the same as lying essentially if they don't ask you don't have to tell them or volunteer it same goes with anything in life if offered a great job that didn't run a background check and didn't ask would you tell them you have a felony? Read my laundry list post above and technically it was deemed during the entire apple jailbreak fiasco that they can warranty a device not the firmware and that it's your device to do with what you want they may not cancel a warranty for changing software Samsung tried it to me and ended up sending me a new device 1 month after purchase because I knew the legalities and I read my TOS agreement he does have the right to send it in and Samsung will decide if the device is unrecoverable which he would be at fault or if it's a simple repair which they will warranty under user stupidity very few of you have called or spoken to Samsung let alone sent in for repair replacement so if you don't know what your talking about your best to step out of the thread as your only adding speculation at that point
SAMSUNG has apart of their TOS that says we will supply a warranty replacement for your device at our discretion and that they may reject a warranty claim if they accept said claim its not fraud under no circumstances do I condone or recommend fraud this is simply following their TOS if they ask if you flashed firmware I'd say be honest but it's your choice if they don't ask which they rarely do then they will run down list of things with you punch it and their warranty software will make a preliminary decision

This really isn't complicated. If you mess with your phones, like we are,.it voids your warranty. Trying to get them to replace the phone when you're the one that messed it up is not cool. I mean we all know the risks here.

Yellow Triangle

Ok here we go, I used Casual to root my i605 and flashed the wrong Rom(Hawki s4 for the 7100) it worked but it didnt recognize my sim card. Then the next day I started getting a yellow triangle saying unauthorized software found on device. Please power your device off and go to the nearest Verizon store. it would still work just no sim reading. Now it only will show the yellow triangle. I need to unroot the phone so I can send it back under warranty. Got a replacement already. Just need to return the old one so im not charged 600+.

What you should have done in the first place, instead of asking for a replacement and conspiring to commit fraud, is flashed the phone back to stock via Odin. This is why Verizon locks the bootloaders, people mess their phone up BY NOT READING and expect the carpet to replace it instead of owning up to their mistake.
Since you haven't been reading here is a link to droidstyles guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2024207
Section 1b explains what you need to do. After you fix the phone, which is very easy, *you* need to read the WHOLE GUIDE at least once before you do ANYTHING to your new phone. If you have any questions about anything ask the community.
Next time read before you do ANYTHING! If you mess your phone up, by flashing a ROM or tweaking with it in some way, grow up and accept responsibility for screwing it up and either fix it yourself if it's soft bricked or have it JTAGed (by the guys at http://mobiletechvideos.mybigcommerce.com/) if it's hard bricked. Don't commit fraud by forcing Verizon to pay for your **** ups, the community does not appreciate that because *WE* end up paying for people committing fraud.

The problem isn't that you made this post. If you had made this post upon first realizing you had flashed the incorrect rom you wouldnt have had to contact Verizon at all. The problem is you ARE committing fraud. The $100 or $200 you paid to replace your phone is subsidized by the warranty/phone insurance which is void if you have tampered with the phone's software, or are the direct cause of any damage caused to it I believe. Your mistakes affect everyone on Verizon. XDA is founded on the sharing of knowledge. Dont bash someone for tough love and A DIRECT LINK to exactly what help you need.

And this thread is prime exame why carriers are locking bootloaders...I guess I will break out the crayola crayons for the next guide I write.
The reason why odin did not recognize your device is because casual borked the driver...this is explained in the stickies.

You have been given the link to Droidstyle's guide by shangrila. All the info has been provided to you. If you can't follow directions to fix it, that's your own fault. Droidstyle's guide is written extremely well so you can't blame it on anyone but yourself. So when you can't fix it and you get charged for the phone, I'm pretty sure you will blame this community for not helping but no one will care. Have fun
Similar incident happened to my GN2 (Casual crashed my phone). Read droidstyles guide, and was up and running.

exactly my point when I said calling the kettle black...
a mature individual would man up and pay the piper for his mistakes....instead of committing fraud for a simple mistake that could of been easily fixed by following stickies in this forum. a warranty claim is there for when a device fails mechanically or at the hardware level...its not there for incompetent users who cant follow directions. again this goes back to my post why verizon and other carriers are locking bootloaders. the yellow triangle is there to let verizon know you are a noob that tried hacking the device unsuccessfully.

Yes and then he doesn't bother to try and fix it, he called a Verizon and got them to send him a new phone by playing the "I don't know what happened but now it is bootlooping" card instead of owning up and fixing his **** up. That is fraud, why we pay such a premium price, and why they're locking our bootloaders.

Thats a cop out...if this was the case you would of mentioned in the first few posts, not after being put on blast for fraud.
Its not fraud to mod your phone, all that does is void the warranty. Putting it back to stock and sending it back is far from fraud as the device was returned as recieved. However bricking a device because you do not know what you are doing and then calling verizon for a warranty replacement is fraud...Nice try

It would be a mistake to make an assumption that everything works the same on both devices. If I gave you an i9300 CWM recovery, you could brick your device.
I'm sorry you feel like people are jumping down your throat but they are not. It is for YOUR OWN PROTECTION. Be savvy and post in the right forums. We cannot guess if you have the wrong device and we can give you advice that can lead to your device being bricked forever. You would not be happy.
I would rather be told I am in the wrong forum than people not mention it in case they offend my delicate nature - then allow me to brick my device. You should be grateful we pointed it out to you.
Also, we are pointing it out for people here. FOR THEIR PROTECTION. What if someone came here and asked you for a link to the recovery you used? You post it still not knowing you're in the wrong forum. You could be partly responsible for how many bricks????
Now everyone knows and no one has a bricked phone. Knowledge prevails.

I'm not reading all that because I'm busy, but apparently you are here more for argument, rather the helping side of things. The thread is over, and it would be a mistake to make assumptions, because that in itself was an assumption, the recovery I used said specifically it would work with either model. But thanks for your help I guess.

I'm not here for an argument. I'm here to stop people breaking their devices. Something that seems lost on you. It's a shame you're "too busy" to read the important information I just posted and too ignorant to realise that you're lucky nothing worse happened to your device.
For anyone who does actually care, since the t999 T-mobile USA device that the OP has, has completely different hardware, the kernels are NOT interchangeable, so no recovery is interchangeable either.
This thread needs to be locked and lost in the ether.
Actually, incorrect, I'm not ignorant at all, the only mistake I made was clicking on the "wrong forum" when it said "s3 q&a" because they failed to mention it was the international model, in my app. I never had any intentions on posting a link to the cwm file I used. Really guy, get over yourself. You made your awesome point now move on.
