hi, i have installed tomtom 5.0 but i cant pair my gps bluetooth(sysonchip). I worked with tomtom3.x and 4.x. When i launch tomtom and try to setup the gps, i only can bound with com2, 6, and 9. Any idea?
I have had the same problem with TomTom and Oncourse Navigator 4.2, I believe it is an incompatibility problem with WM2005. I tried using the built-in GPS manager in WM2005, but I do not think it is working in this version, or it will only work with newer GPS porgrams compatible with 2005.
Solved¡¡¡
The problem is TomTom list only the ports that appears in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\Active but when you create an outgoing port (with the BT applet), it isnt included in this list. I ve create a little C program (5 kb) that include the port com5 manually, so Tomtom can see it and you can Select it. I ve put a link to this program in windows\startup to be executed after each reset. Now it works ))
If someone need it i can post it....
YES! Post it here, please ...
Thanks in advance.
Hi, This is the way it worked for me.
1) Create a outgoing port (5) to connect with the gps
2) Place the patch in \windows\startup (to be executed each time you reboot).
3) Reset the device.
4) Run tomTom, select "other gps bluetooth". Then you should see "Port 5".
If you need a diferent port tell me and i will recompilate the program or i will post the source code.
tomtom 5 doesn't install, program crashes.. tried 2 install the cabs... only ttn.cab gives a failure on install, the other cabs installed corectly.
how did you install 5?

tnx , works great!!
Brilliant!
Strangely enough, the patch still keeps working if you run this patch once, then delete it.
Doesn't look like you need to put it in your windows\startup directory.
yep, when tomtom bounds to the gps in port 5 (or other) it retains the port number.
Anyway keep the patch in your sd card (or other safe place)because you may need it if tomtom "forgets" the port
If i install it from the CD, the setup is crashing
If i copy the .cab "ttn.CAB" (2.58 mb) and copy it to the device and open it he say's: "Unpacking was unsuccesful"
Someone?

Once installed bttols (for handfree profile) I lost connection between xda2 and gps (Dconnex DC-230); no problem between this bt gps and its sw on pda (gps viewer on com5, br 9600). Nothing happened when I tried to up/downgrade TT gps software(3.07; 2.07) nor with widcomm stack  . I tried also to uninstall bttools without success. The only way to run properly ttn3 is hard reset and re-install ttn software alone; but when I restore (using spritebackup, including registry), ttn3 freeze on start and a message advice that it cannot laun  ch gps control panel (to select the properly gps engine), so I need soft reset to restart. In the registry (I use PHM registry) the tt gps engine is set on com1 (by default, I think it's the wired model). How can I solve this trouble? I wouldn't manually re-install the several softwares I'm using for about 1 year. Thanks in advance to everyone, expecially developers, able to help me.

When you installed bttools did you remove any existing bluetooth devices from the bonding? You should remove the gps, reset then rebond gps. Try choosing tomtom wireless gps in top box and gps on bt in lower box if the com5 doesnt work. Are you sure about the 9600 setting, if not try 4800.
I've done all these steps I think properly. But now cannot access tt gps control panel (even starting from wizard) to select the gps device (two messages: "cannot launch gps control panel" or "no gps engine please reinstall", even if tomtomgps.exe and ttgpseng.exe are in windows directory. Work properly only after hard reset.
Should search for gps cabs in installation CD?
Hey Guys,
I'm running WM5, 1.50g for more than a week now.
Its simply wonderful.
there are some compatibiltiy issues witih the S/Ws now; but that'll be there. we were able to use this OS before the release thats the big thing.
I'm looking for two piece of info here.
1> Wireless USB modem is not working - does anyone have any idea? inputs on this? (i didnt try to mix this topic with non-woking buttons; hope thats okay and we can close the topic as soon as its resolved)
2> I'm on 1.50g now and able to use large amount of storage mem. I was running 1.60a earlier and cud not use large mem (just about 14M for storage) where I had to store all my email data and the loaded S/Ws. due to the space crunch; I had to come back to 1.50g.
As the 1.60a is faster (i heard so - cud not test and fall back to 1.50g imm.) and i'd like to go for that. Does anyone has got any idea how to make use of the 120MB memory in 1.60a to be used for my email storage and to be able to load S/Ws and data on it?
Thanks in advace.
Wireless USB modem on WM5
hey guys,
just reviewing whether anyone has contributed!
I saw another thread "Warning WM5 1.60a and Extended _rom" and I think, I can get around a way on how to make use of that 120mb program memory in 1.60a and i'll definitely going to try that once I hv the steps with me.
as regards the Wireless USB Modem; I think i'm the only person who's facing this issue or may be fewer ppl. if anyone's using I-mate PPC phone with WM5 with working application (wireless USB modem) please share ur configuration with me.
thanks.
Updating the topic to expand the audiance and expacting at least one response
I am also having a problem with the USB Modem... It says "com open error (8)"
hello Duan,
have u found any resolution yet?
Nope... And after searching around the net I still have had no success.
Hey Guys,
I'm switching back to the WM2K3 SE now. I think its high time; we do not have any idea about the USB modem functionalities that's most important while we use the device as a modem while away from home or office.
I was okay with Camera, Record and all other facilities not available. I'm not in for all those flashy features but I have to have my Voice and Data connectivity inplace thats more than important for me anytime.
So, Guys; please please let me know once we have a solution for the Wireless USB / BT modem.
Thanks.
Wireless Modem on WM5
Went back to the 1.60b now coz i thought I have now got the BT adapter / dongle.
However, I'm not able to use the BT wireless modem with the adapter itself.
as I said.. as soon as i start the wireless modem application the signal indicator doesnt show the cross mark on it and continue show the signal strength. otherwise I think my lappy is able to detect the phone and everything works fine except the modem application.
I downgraded to a couple of versions of SE now (I have now forgotten how many times I flashed my device - guys let me know if its harmful to flash the device multiple times - now a days its about almost everyday I flash my device, thanks to my exch servr that hold my data). I tried 2.20SE I also tried the latest one thats been converted to english by Buzz and tried to start the BT modem application - no luck - same symptoms.
and again I flashed my device with 1.60b (along with the DCR ). However, the BT modem or USB modem issue is not resolved.
I'd really appreciate if someone can help me with the Modem application PLEAZEEE - PLEAZEE.
THANKS A LOT IN ADVANCE --
Yeah forgot to tell ya - I'm using iMate Pocket PC Phone Edition.
Guys, please try this configuration on WM5 as bluetooth modem, remove any connection on 'My Isp', start wireless modem application & dial...
FYI, I use 1.06b rom & billionton usb dongle. Btw I can't determine which modem type it use (cell line / gprs / etc.).

while i have not gotten the wireless modem to work, i have successfully started and seen the connection icon turn yellow. having written that, i started getting the "com open error" after adding com ports under bluetooth set-up. deleting those ports under bluetooth eliminated the error for usb in wireless modem application.
separately, in order to see the modem in my phone & modem control panel, i had to press start in wireless modem prior to tethering the device to my thinkpad.
btw, i am running wm5 on a ppc6700 (cdma/ev-do version of the htc apache, i believe.)

What is the error you have?
Do you succeed to pair the devices?
Do you use OBEX to transfer files?
it gives me an error tha says
"Cannot connect to the OBEX device. It is either not accessible or does not support selected service" when i try to send something from my ppc and when i try to send something to it windows just give an error tha cannot send
Can anyone tell me which version of WM2003SE has the bluetooth working?
My brothers himalaya was upgraded to 2.02t rom and now has the ear speaker working along with the bluetooth headset. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

You have to check if the OBEX service is running. If not you have to start it.
Just use this tool
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=280104&highlight=Free+Task+Manager
Go on the service tab, look for the OBEX service and checks if the service is running, if not start it and try.
Cheers,
.Fred
ok,i can see tha OBEX service is Stopped as well as BTAGSSVC(BAG0).I cant start it,it says "the device is in use by an active process and cannot be disconnected"

Ok, get the name of the dll of the OBEX service then go to the processes tab,
select services.exe process, show the context menu, and select details.
In modules, checks if the dll is in the list?
ok
in services.exe i can see the obexsrvr.dll
maybe there is a problem with the file. Can someone post the dll to replace and see?
[Q] TomTom Navigator "You have an invalid version of the TomTom application"
Does anyone know WHICH build of TomTom is the "correct" one for the HTC HD2 (or HTC Leo as TomTom sees it)?
I have;
ApplicationVersion=7916
ApplicationBuildNumber=9189
and have tried many others, and whilst they work perfectly on the HD2, TomTom Home simply won't accept any of them as valid.
Hope someone can help!

This version does work good on my HD2...
For TT Home extract and replace file in attachement on your phone
OK...little confused...on my phone or in TT Home on PC? I already tried a new mobile.ddf file in my Home/Resources folder, but it didn't solve the problem.
Copy ddf file in PC folder "Program Files\TomTom HOME 2\Resources\Devices".
Enable Map share in TT in phone.
For me it does work without problems.
Unfortunately not for me. Mind you I think I have device code problems too - when i first installed TomTom Home it worked okay, but now even though I am using the same device I am getting a different serial number - but only very slightly different (it's exactly the same 32-character code, but the one that my account has registered has a "T" in front of it and lower case letters instead of uppercase).
TomTom of course has their stupid "one change in 6 months" rule, so I guess I just have to wait...
TomTom supposedly unlocked my account, but I still can't update it with the new device serial number.
Anyone got any other ideas on how to get aroudn this problem?
Thanks!
Do you have Tomtom installed to your device and not the SD card. I had the same problem untill I reinstalled the Tomtom app to the device, but left the zip folder, voices folder, art folder, and map folder on the SD card. Now Tomtom home works perfectly with my HD2.
Using Tomtom app 7.918 (9193) with latest 860.312 Western Europe map
*EDIT* Yes it WAS worth a try - R12SRW you are a genius...haven't tried to see if EVERYTHING works yet, but at least the stupid error message hasn't appeared.
*EDIT #2" Seems faultless now - MapShare and speed camera updates automatically found and downloaded...thanks again!
That's worth a try I guess...only problem is the memory on my HD2 is so damned tiny...
Will try it and let you know what happens.
Excellent Advice R12SRW!
I uninstalled TomTom Navigator from my phone as I had it installed to the SD memory card and and reinstalled it with the "Install to Device" option.
Now when I connect to TomTom home I have all the map share updates and other options and that "You have an invalid version of the TomTom application" error message is gone.
Thanks alot
R12SRW's Solution worked for me, I'm smiling again!!!!! Thanks.
Mapshare updates installed and load of previously greyed out options are now available.
Had to reset all options in Tomtom once reinstalled to internal memory but all voices, favourites etc remained available so well happy.
Using Tomtom home to 2.8 and navcore 7.918.9193 with latest v865 maps
Reinstall on sd carte
Hello.
I have the same probleme. Does that work if I reinstall on sd carte ?
Tomtom Navigator tt7.918.9193
