the browser was aleeady released. for me it's a very decent browser. very smooth when pinching to zoom and has a lot of features. the viewing of used tabs is also a plus for me because it's easier than the stock browser.

I used it for about 10 minutes and loaded up 5 pages, closed them, and went back to home. Then I checked memory usage and it was using up 100mb! Theres gotta be a memory leak there somewhere

No worse than the memory leak in the stock 2.2 Samsung browser.

Have you reached your data cap?
Ifso look in the theme and app section for the throttle reset app that TopSheft10 found and shared for us,it helps some and others it don't....give it a shot
smokin that ReVamped Miui.us. ;-)
Do a speed test and tell me what you get. Also look at your data usage you might be getting throttled.

It happens to the best of us... especially when tethering our Vibrant is so much faster than our overpriced cable ISP

No problem here downloading the rom using megaupload or any other
file sharing site using my phone.
There is a folder on the root directory of the internal sdcard called
".downloadTemp" thats where the file gets downloaded to.
The default browser works best for me not only in downloads but in general.
I am using gtg's unNamed v1.0.3 rom right now.
I have downloaded many files from Internet since getting this new phone.
Good luck!

Sometimes the stock browser can be flakey when it comes to downloads. You can try clearing cache and user data, and anything else to reset the browser and that might fix it for you.
But the easiest fix is to just use a different browser, dolphin its the one I use.
Not that the stock browser is not a good one, but I could never get it to consistently download everything either. It would seem like I would toy with it for days to get it to work, then a day later it would be picky about what file types it would download again.
And last little note if your interested in this stuff, it seems the dolphin browser is the fastest browser at rendering java script we have available on Android (although the speed is not way better, it is a little better)

Don't use the default browser, download using opera always works. Look fire opera in market. It's a wonderful substitute for the stock browser with better interface as well.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using xda premium
I've used a few browsers beginning back in January and I have to agree that Opera is by far my favorite. I've used Miren, Dolphin, xScope and I think a few others and have found Opera to be the best for what I do. I don't need all of the customization options that some of the browsers provide and Opera loads quickly and easily; as well as allowing me to download the files I want to download.
If you want to download using the stock browser go to the market and download a small app called, download all files. Once installed, it allows the stock browser to save any file. Works great for me
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using xda premium
I had some issues earlier today where Megaupload wouldn't let me download the complete file. Even to my desktop. It kept getting stuck between 80 and 90%. I had to give it a couple of hours then it worked. You may try to download a download manager from the Market as well.
stock browser seems flaky to me. usually it works, but every now and then it wont let me dl a program/app/file. like others have suggested maybe try another browser. sometimes if i restart the phone i can grab the file that failed the 1st time
i am looking to replace some old GB apps :good:
can you list these "new" ICS apps?
I'm not understanding this. What plethora of apps did you feel you did not have access too? I mean, maybe some new launchers, but iirc, most apps aren't written for ICS exclusively.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda app-developers app
Well although apps aren't exclusively for ics, se apps for instance YouTube has been updated and although I've had ics since the first leak that was my favorite app lol
&& especcially Nova launcher

I ASSumed there was for only a couple reasons: iirc there was some game(s) that i saw in the app store that couldn't be played on GB.?. ...... Also i have quite a few apps that are missing now since the update...i figured some apps work only on GB while others on ICS :cyclops:

That's true about some disappearing. However, I honestly wonder if its maybe leak based as to why some don't work

How does Chrome operate on the official ICS build? It always seemed to preform a bit worse than than the stock browser did on the unofficial CM9 builds.

The problem is with the browser itself, not so much the builds. I've easily run 30 different builds (at least) on all my devices (stock, tweaked leaks, CM9, AOSP)...chrome runs the same with problems on all. I use both chrome and dolphin HD myself. Dolphin for embedded flash. Overall I'd say dolphin is the best (however I love the sync ability of chrome!)

I myself use chrome the most, it does the job better then stock but when I need flash, the stock is what I use...

Hello everyone, I am a fairly new XDA user and have been on topics for my Galaxy S2. I also happen to own a Transformer Prime TF201. I have to admit, I love everything about the tablet aside from its size. Not so portable but, great aside from the portability.
Since there are little to no tablet optimized apps on Android I end up using the browser on the prime more than anything. Occasionally I will run into a problem where a page will load completely blank white. Usually, when this occurs, I just clear the cache and things get fixed. But, a few days ago, even after clearing the cache, the pages will load completely blank white. I have Chrome on my prime so I can use that at the moment but, it is very unstable compared to the standard browser that comes with the prime. Does anyone know of a fix to this white page loading problem?
Sorry if this has already been mentioned or fixed before. I did a search and didn't find anything on the topic so, I figured that a new topic might be necessary.

This happened to me once or twice, but simple closing and reopening helped. Since I'm unlocked and on custom rom, I haven't had such problem.

I would say just ditch the built in browser. I use two browsers: 1. Chrome as my primary and 2. Dolphin if I come across something where I really need flash. JB does away with the old Browser app and replaces it with Chrome anyway. So why not get it and get used to using it now rather than try to get along with the old browser which is going away anyway.

There is just something about Chrome on the tablets and phones that just don't do it for me. The PC version is fantastic, but, the android version is just bad I think. I have it lock up all of the time. I guess I'll have to use it for the time being I guess.

Have you tried using Firefox Beta?
That's what I currently use and it works great. I will say that I have had it toss out the occasional ANR message and crash, but I find it to be more stable than Chrome.

I have given a variety of browsers a go but, I just can't seem to find any that I like and are as stable as the stock browser. Why can't they just make it work like Apple's Safari browser for the iPhone?

What browsers are you guys using. I've tried to give the stock browser a go but it sucks. I have a zagg screen protector so maybe thats it. Just seems hard to press links.

The stock browser does not suck at all. I think it's faster/smoother than all other browsers.
You could give Google Chrome a try. It's a bit slow/choppy for me though.
There are a bunch of browsers in the Play Store to try too (Dolphin, etc.). Give them all a try and see what you prefer.
I've used dolohin browser before and like it. I just wanted to give the stick browser a far shot one more time.
I use Opera mini. It's very fast and I love it!

Stock Browser is awesome in itself.
But I use Chrome for the link between phone and computer. Luckily dont experience this clunkiness you are referring to.
I'm using Chrome Beta. I'd like to use something else but the syncing of all tabs/history between mobile and desktop has me hooked. Otherwise I really like Dolphin and another one called Xscope

Stock browser does not sync with chrome bookmarks...an absolute requirement for me. I have never been able to get any of the bookmark sync across platform things work anywhere near as well as Google's built in solution, and I am not going to f%$$ around doing manual syncing. So I use the AOSP browser. Fast and light.

Find Chrome to Phone in the App Store, it's never not worked for me (as it is, in fact, built by Google).
edit: This doesn't support bookmarks anymore apparently... weaksauce. I always click the button to send to my phone what I need to read later, anyway.
I think it may be the thickness of my zagg screen protector. After using both browersers back to back the stock browser loads pages faster than dolphin but it just seems hard to click or tap anything. Sometimes I have to tap 3 times.
How do you install flash on the stock browser?
Chrome
