Gps on obsidian - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

First off i asked this in the roms thread but no one would help so... This is my favorite Rom. It runs flawlessly except Gps. When i go on Google.com or Google earth i see the Gps in the notification bar trying to find the location but it always says after a while location cannot be found. everytime.

I had the same problem in macnut r10.
I dled GPS Test app, I set the app to keep the phone awake. Then let it run for 20 mins straight. rebooted and GPS was significantly better. Not as good as some of the 2.1 roms but usable.

K i just put Eugenes jk2 on my phone and GPS still doesn't work.. It worked on stock before i ever flashed any custom rom so wtf. I know a lot of roms i used before this past week didn't have the drivers but now they do and still can't find location....

Try what I suggested.

I believe its already installed. Just click on the app go through the tutorial and let it connect. It will turn on every time you have wifi. It actually works really great.

Go to the obsidian thread and cook through it it's up there like for times also in the themes and apps section you can find it there
Still flashing
Or just get it out of Obsidian V1, instead of looking though 800 pages. I assume a person with a modest internet connection can download 170 MB alot faster than one can look through the pages.
Get the WifiCalling.apk out of Obsidian V1's System/Apps folder. and put it into the same folder on your phone. Reboot and you will have wifi calling.
My advice? Don't.

Connection to internet?

So I'm on macnut 13 and just flashed the jk6 modem, worked amazing for about an hour. Now when I try to use the browser the two 3g arrows never change color and the page never loads but I can get on this and the Facebook app fine... help plz

Recently these 3 days I don't know what happen to my vibrant it can't locate the place with the network location after I flashed the s.gps 2 fixed for 7 days. I was on bionic 1.3. And then i thought it was internal messup so i odin back to jfd and now I'm on the Simply Honey Vibrant v1.0 and didn't flash the s. GPS fix yet. But still remain the same issue with the network determin location. Most of my weather apps using network determined the location which now they state location undefined.
Now I'm lost. Can anyone help me out? Million thanks

[Q] GPS for CM7.1 RC1.6.1

I've just freshly rooted and installed CM7.1 RC1.6.1 with the MR2 radio. Part of the know issues seems to be slow GPS fix, but I can't seem to get a fix at all. The GPS symbol doesn't show at all on the status bar and gps status app doesn't do anything either. Am I missing something or is this normal?
Flash a rom with working GPS and turn it on. get a fix and leave it on, reboot into recovery and flash CM7.
Nothing yu did its a bug

before you do all that, try installing the gps toolbox app in the market and run that if you have not. May or may not solve the problem, but it will take less time.

So does this mean the GPS will be stuck on inside CM7?
I have same prob and with cm7 the above solution works I get lock within 3 seconds. It will work as normal. I used bamf 4.9 to get lock. Then restored my cm7

gps not working with google maps CM7

This weekend i tried to use my gps with google maps and it wasnt working at all. I did come across this video on youtube for making the gps work im not sure if this would work for teh thunderbbolt. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_fqn_G1xzeY
Cm7 is kind of old IMO....... I would use a different Rom such as thunderstick or bamf..... I'm using thunderstick and never had a problem with gps

Ill take a look into that but so far this is the best rom I have used with no issues minus the gps. I would really love to try and fix the gps otherwise I can live without the gps navigation that isnt working. Most other roms ive used battery life isnt as great as ive seen using this.
I believe i have read somewhere on here that if you boot into recovery and make a backup of your ROM you can then restore an earlier sense room. Once restored lock the Gps in using maps or gps status from the market. Once it's locked boot directly back into recovery and restore your backup you just made and Gps should now work.
