gps not working with google maps CM7 - Thunderbolt Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

This weekend i tried to use my gps with google maps and it wasnt working at all. I did come across this video on youtube for making the gps work im not sure if this would work for teh thunderbbolt. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_fqn_G1xzeY

Cm7 is kind of old IMO....... I would use a different Rom such as thunderstick or bamf..... I'm using thunderstick and never had a problem with gps

Ill take a look into that but so far this is the best rom I have used with no issues minus the gps. I would really love to try and fix the gps otherwise I can live without the gps navigation that isnt working. Most other roms ive used battery life isnt as great as ive seen using this.

I believe i have read somewhere on here that if you boot into recovery and make a backup of your ROM you can then restore an earlier sense room. Once restored lock the Gps in using maps or gps status from the market. Once it's locked boot directly back into recovery and restore your backup you just made and Gps should now work.

I had the same problem in macnut r10.
I dled GPS Test app, I set the app to keep the phone awake. Then let it run for 20 mins straight. rebooted and GPS was significantly better. Not as good as some of the 2.1 roms but usable.
K i just put Eugenes jk2 on my phone and GPS still doesn't work.. It worked on stock before i ever flashed any custom rom so wtf. I know a lot of roms i used before this past week didn't have the drivers but now they do and still can't find location....
Try what I suggested.

[Q] GPS for CM7.1 RC1.6.1

I've just freshly rooted and installed CM7.1 RC1.6.1 with the MR2 radio. Part of the know issues seems to be slow GPS fix, but I can't seem to get a fix at all. The GPS symbol doesn't show at all on the status bar and gps status app doesn't do anything either. Am I missing something or is this normal?
Flash a rom with working GPS and turn it on. get a fix and leave it on, reboot into recovery and flash CM7.
Nothing yu did its a bug

before you do all that, try installing the gps toolbox app in the market and run that if you have not. May or may not solve the problem, but it will take less time.

So does this mean the GPS will be stuck on inside CM7?
I have same prob and with cm7 the above solution works I get lock within 3 seconds. It will work as normal. I used bamf 4.9 to get lock. Then restored my cm7

My GPS locks instantly on asop.
Have you installed the network location apk? (Protek first post has it.) If not install it. Nandroid your current setup. Flash a sense rom and aquire a gps lock, then restore your current setup.

GPS not working on CM7

My GPS is not working on any CM7 rom, i have tried in Neutrino and in the RC1 and my GPS cant lock. It used to work fine on Blur based roms. I really like CM7, but i need my GPS. Im furrently using baseband 37p and CM7. Everything works fine except that, any help?

I'm using neutrino ROM and the GPS works fine. Did you try flashing the GPS Mod from Neutrino add ons ?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1398819
Look for GPS mod on addon page. Download it but don't flash it, open the zip, and take a look at the readme for instructions on how to install.
Additionally you could download "GPS Status & Toolbox" app from Google Play store, calibrate and download A-GPS data for faster GPS and look up.
Hope this helps.
Also check ur GPS setting might.e was set to not use internal GPS for some reason after flashing rc1 and now lime works great

Install CM. Make a nandroid.
Install a sense based rom.
Set it up, get a GPS lock.
Boot straight into recovery.
Restore CM backup.
Enjoy.
