Hello,
the folllowing thing happened to me :
- at a certain point i couldn't charge my xda anymore, and so the battery went down. no light appeared when connecting to the charger. and i couldn t start the xda anymore off course.
- i read the articles about the fuse which could be hit; and because i couldn't reach the spare fuse for the external battery, i simply soldered a solder bridge in the place of the fuse, as someone mentioned in another topic. i put everything together, but still, totally dead : no lights.
- now i don't know if this xda is totally lost or if i can do something about it. it could also be the charger which is broken. it doesn't get warm when i put it in the 'wall'. how can i check this ?
- if anybody has hints about what to do next or just trow the thing away, you could make my day ! many thanks in advance.
thomas.
You could try a usb sync charge cable, it maybe the battery has died completely also. Did you test the fuse before bridging the connection? Have you tried using the hard reset button, this is in the hole next to the headphone socket.
- i don't own such a cable, but maybe i can find it somewhere, as the qtek 1010 is not very widely spread in belgium, i could search over the internet instead of a shop.
- i did not test the fuse before removing it and soldering the bridge. which is probably quite stupid of me. the hard reset button didn't do anything and still doesn't.
- the battery could be dead also, but should'nt i see a light flashing when i insert my charger ? so my 'forecast' is that it could be a charger issue.
- maybe i could test it with someone elses charger here in belgium. i live in ghent, so if anyone is from near my place, i am willing tot travel to test your charger. i won't steal it, but then i can buy a new one over the internet.
if anybody has other testing methods for the charger, please let me know.
a simple question : should the charger get hot when plugged in ? because mine doesn't and i don't know if it ever did.
thanks for your answers ! and hoping to reanimate soon.
The charger would normally feel warm when plugged in.
err my charger's pretty cold actually...
Mine is too now that I checked but it gets warm while charging, my ipaq charger is warm when plugged in and not charging, any idea why this should be.
Can anybody help me with the following ?
i'm quite stuck in the thinking concerning the problem ...
is there anybody in europe who has a tech experience with the qtek 1010/xda and thinks he could arrange the problem i mentionned above ?
or is there anyone who knows such a person, because he had the same problem.
I want to let someone look at it, with, off course, a possible compensation in money. Is there anyone who could tell me how much this more or less could cost ? [because i am a student and use the phone mainly for testing purposes]
Thanks in advance !!! t.
Maybe a friend at college has a simple voltage tester you could use to test the charger output, the charger I have has a removable adaptor at the end of the lead, with this removed you are left with a simple barrel type connector which is very easy to test. If you cannot get a replacement charger and yours is faulty, send me a pm, and I will post one to you.
Anyone in europe who can repair my xda 1 ?
Hello,
i'm still stuck with a broken xda, as described above. Is there anyone in europe who has spare parts of the xda and is willing to repair this item ?
It would be great if anyone could help me. Please let me know what arrangments can be made. I am living in Belgium, Ghent.
thanks in advance.

Testing powersupplie
Hi!
I don't know if this could be helpfull, anyway: If you still think this is a charger-problem, then you could modify your cradle as described in the wiki. http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=WallabyCradleMod
And another thing as well. I noticed that the main charger is making a loud fuzzing sound when connected to power, so I guess that if your's silent and cold, it might be broken. (Which is not too problematic as it can be easily bought on eBay.)
What power-connectors do you use in Belgium? I have a spare-adapter that I'm not able to use as it does not fit in the Norwegian connectors...
Good luck with the phone!
Same Problem after plugging in my ipaq 3970 gps reciever
I got the Same Problem after plugging in my ipaq 3970 gps reciever, anyone got a clue where to go with this??
iPaq pinouts...
The pin-outs is not the same on the xda and the iPaq, so power in the wrong direction may have damaged the mainboard. And that would be differcult to repair I think!
Title is fairly self explanatory, but I think this is pretty much the end for me. My USB port and cable are both broken, thus breaking my access to PC companion and flashtool as well. Mow I can only watch my phone sit there with the sony ericsson logo
I have ordered another USB cable from ebay, putting my grave hopes on it and here, if anyone knows of any help, please do let me know.
Thanks

I am almost sure that resoldering the usb port is unavoidable. You cant flash anything without it, and also you will have problems with how to charge it (yes, even there are DIY solution for that...).
Hope you will have damaged only cable, not whole port.
Somehow the micro usb port on the phone (the charger) has been mashed up inside, i think it may have been due to someone trying to fit the wrong charger into it.
a shop said it'd have to get sent away,
i was wondering if their is a place to send it to get fixed or it it fixable ?
atm im having to charge another battery with a docking station and swap battery's because it wont charge,
it did work a little earlier on today, charging. but i can see the insides are pretty well destroyed.
it looks like the piece can be removed and a new one soldered on,
any ideas ?
thanks.
Honestly, if somone on here knows how to fix hardware issues I am sure they can lend you a hand but otherwise you will have to go to a repair shop and have it serviced. Just make sure that everything is complete stock and bootloader is in locked state just to be safe. If you don't want to send it back through the mail you can always take to a sprint authorized repair shop.
If you want to attempt it yourself here you go

Thanks guys, ive been looking online and some places seem to say they can fix it,
that video is just jokes, he faffs around with the thing im sure he ha no idea what hes doing.
ive found usb ports for other htc models just not the evo 3d.
ive realised it is quite a common problem
its charging via my docking station... just. obviously the internals of the micro usb are mashed up, and i know the replacement needs to be soldered on,
ive looked on some websites but cannot find anywhere to fix it.
its ok atm as its charging via dock, and i have a spare battery, also i can just take out my sd card to add stuff but it i rather annoying abd id like it fixed asap.
You could always use WiFi file explorer,of course WiFi is required but you can read and write the sdcard from your ip address,
Signature (Don't ask me for help, couldn't careless if your phone explodes)
strange thing is its connecting via my dock.. and charging, eventho the insides of the micro usb are mashed up..
it wont work with any other cable just in the dock...
im guessing the dock pin is slightly larger thus allowing a connection ?
Hi xda.
I cant charge my phone. I made tests with 3 original micro usb cable, and got nothing(wall and usb).
I got no led, no sounds when i plug it.
So, I tried with a universal charger for batteries, and it works. So i guess my battery is fine.
Apparently my problem is the micro usb port. I do not have warranty.
Despite having no experience with maintenance, I found a video on youtube and did not seem very difficult to replace. So i searched and found on ebay a new micro usb port, for a very low price.
What you guys suggest?
Lead to assistance and wait 15 days or more, and spend more money...
Or buy at ebay and try to change myself?
Theres a way to find if my problem is really on my micro usb port?
This could be another problem?
Thanks.
sorry for my bad english.

first try to clean usb port for dirt if it does not work
disassemble your phone as shown in the video. check usb connections etc. if none solves try to find the right part on ebay and replace it.
or if you say i cant do that simple give it to samsung service and get it repaired with money
Guys, the microUSB port on my 101 G9 got broken by an accident.
Looks like It needs a resoldering (and due to double-sided main board it gonna cost some serious $). I removed the port entirely as I dont need PC connectivity.
Is it possible to solder a usb cable directly to BAT-/BAT+ points on the board? Or do I need to connect it to microUSB soldering points to work properly?
//sry for my bad english - I'm from Russia and got hella tired today(
Hi Devl547,
first: Your english is perfect, no need to worry.

Don't attach the USB cable to the battery points on the mainboard. This will damage your mainboard and battery on long term.
Please look at the area around the broken MicroUSB port and search for a green colored component.
This is the fuse for the 5V comming from the port. You might easily find a soldering point in this area as well.
You should use this as the connection to your cable, nothing else!
If you are unsure, i'll post a picture.
Best regards,
scholbert
Thanks. Actually, I have already soldered a usb cable to microusb soldering points ( nightmare difficulty :3 ).
Looks like it works perfectly, but I think I'd better buy a new Archos tablet next month and use my old one indoor as a internet/video terminal.
Hi. Can you please upload a Picture from the Solder Points how i must solder the 4 wires from a USB Cable? Thank you very much!

Hi scholbert!
If you still read this, I'd really appreciate that picture as my micro usb socket came loose and currently I can't charge my Archos G9 101 Turbo.
Thanks,
Nuems

I'm still using my Archos tablets, but i'll need to find my disassembled one to make a better picture i guess
Maybe you're able to locate the camera clip on your mainboard and remove it.
It is located near the micro USB slot...
See this post i made long ago (most informations are valid for the G9 101 as well):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=28542261&postcount=41
After you removed the clip you should be able identify the fuse as well.
It is a marked component with a "T" on top.
As told before this is the best place to solder some cable for external charger.

scholbert
