Ok so i have 3 questions in 1 thread!
I have a X10 mini pro 2.1 (U20i):
1- Has anyone "currentwidget" working on this phone?!
I installed it and the widget shows always Error (i have root access).
Any help is appreciated!
2- How to maximize battery consumption!?! It's barely holding 15hrs of minimal use!!! Wiped the battstats and didn't have so much improvement!
Any help is appreciated!
3- I need arabic support for the phone! Does somebody have it working?!? Where can i find libs, frameworks...?!

I'm guessing like the other 50+ viewers they didn't know what you were asking until they actually viewed your post. Consumption, Battery, Arabic doesn't give much away. For all we know, you could have been asking about memory usage, buying a new battery, and an arabic font pack!

Ok, this is the solution to about half of your problems .

1. It does not work, at least the one in the market... It's for the nexus one, there is a ported version for the vibrant too, but I'm not sure if it will work either. Anyway, it's a bit of a stupid program, go buy System Panel.
2. It is more about running proceses than anything. Best app you could download to see what is running wildly, System Panel (and yes, pay for it), or just take some other task killer, like Advanced Task Killer, and see what runs without you wanting too. You should uninstall that crap. Start with Timescape. That app is truly pure crap.
Ah, also, put the widget Power Control (which come included) and try to keep everything deactivated as long as you can. Each of those things SWALLOW battery, more than eat. Put APNdroid, and keep internet deactivated too. Download Setcpu (it's free in this forum) and put the minimum Hz to 128 (the minimum you can put).
What else... eliminate all the SE **** you can and whenever you are not using the phone, kill all the running apps with Advanced Task Killer. Or you can use Autokiller, didn't work for me.
Put a battery percentage icon too. You will notice when something is eating your battery with it. If you don't want a theme, use Battery Indicator.
3. Sorry, don't know what the hell I could use that for. Open a thread for this.
EDIT: looked att your profiel, and man, you are no noob, why the hell are you asking how to improve your battery? It is a standard, androids consume if you let them, nothing else. If you really need battery, underclock it with setcpu and problem solved.

First of all thanks for your reply!
About current consumption I'll try also "battery monitor widget" to see if it works!
Man i asked those bcz i'm not a perfect noob (we all are noobs at some point); i'm concentrating my efforts on my HD2 and i dont have so much time for this X10 minipro; so i asked bcz maybe there is some kind of a trick or a known bud/problem that may decrease battery consumption!
About downclocking, my own experience (and many others) shows that it doesn't affect battery much (barely 5 to 10% so it's not worth it) and besides it introduces instabilities so i prefer not to tweak anything about CPU.
However i thank for re-introducing the autokiller memory to my mind bcz i completely forgot it although i'm using it on my HD2!!! hahaha
Oh, no problem then, dude ^^ mm downclocking does work for me, i believe :/ anyway, the best memory optimizer is autokiller, trust me in that see you around!!

Just to address your battery problem - no there is no solution unless you cut off data transmission or use GPRS instead of 3G. 15 hours is decent time.
Can´t say anything about Arabic, though.

But sometimes when you need answers you need good ways to ask the questions!
My battery lasted many hours longer after disabling data traffic. I only enable data traffic when needed then immediately disable it again. There's a built in widget to enable/disable data traffic.

Well after the WOW effect wore off my phone, i am starting to HATE the flaws.
I bought this phone outright for a hefty $600 and hoping i did not waste my money switching over from blackberry.
MY problems
Bluetooth disconnects every 15 minutes, plus sounds like garbage, i did some reading on this and its a common problem yet appears to not be addressed yet? i am using a Jawbone Icon by the way and its dual connected to my work BB
Data(HSPDA) randomly disconnects at least once every 2 days and requires me to pull the battery to get it back going.
Battery drain is beyond crazy, i cant get 5 hours out of the phone with moderate use.
This thing heats up like crazy!!!
I know the last two things are software related, and people say upgrade to KG2, well my phone had 2.3.3 and KG2 and this is what it shipped with, so what should i go to?
Or can i just solve all of these issue by rooting the phone? if so, i will go that route.

if you want to go that way(rooting,FLashing Roms)
Think twice, the SGS2 has a binary counter that counts how many times you flashed unofficial software on the phone,
if you brick it or something happens, screen breaks etc, you might ran into some problems @ samsung if they check the counter
you can reset it yourself by buying a JIG, google it!
I've had no issues with my bluetooth headset (logitech freepluse). i'd guess it doesnt like being dual connected
I've had no issues with losing my data connection (i did on galaxy s though). how strong is your signal before you lose it?
as for the battery drain, make sure you're exiting your apps + all the usual other stuff (turn off sync, wifi, bt, set to autobrightness). 2.3.3 does have the drainage issue for some people. i'm on villainrom 2.3.4 and have no drainage issues
rooting won't help you out.
HSDPA disconnects? if you have H always on that means you are either downloading or uploading something most of the time, H only turns on when there is data being pulled or sent, you should see the 3G icon MOST of the time, if you are streaming music/video then you'll see the H kicking in.
I have a Jawbone Cruiser and have no issues whatsoever I have 2 devices paired to it but only 1 at a time, A2DP works flawless and it even sounds better than the original Galaxy S.

Rooting has nothing to do with battery problems all it does if give user a lower level access to the OS .
Hundreds of battery problem posts with tips methods etc but for me the starter has to be ,
better battery stats .

Rooting will not solve these issues, but I can maybe enable you to start solving it.
However, before you start messing with kernels and firmwares I would really try to find out if some of the problems might be hardware related or not. If so, you could use your warranty to get a new one or get it fixed. Once you start messing with custom software you're never sure if they will grant you the warranty or not.

not sure where you get that from? i actually hate apple and take that post as quite an insult, one and only thing i ever owned from them was a ipod way back, and it got stolen 2 mths after i bought it and i never replaced it.
that aside, i came from a Blackberry Curve 8330, although it sucked, it did have good bluetooth connectivity,decent battery life, and did not heat up, keep in mind it was a CDMA phone.
so i know i have some changes to expect with a new network, but it appears lots of these have been fixed by people and i am just trying to understand the software and device, KG2 KY this,etc is all new to me, so i have been reading lots but find it confusing since its so vast.
needless to say it will be kind of disappointing if i cant connect 2 devices to my jawbone icon at the same time and work flawless, as this is huge for me.
Also i NEVER see 3G data show up on my phone, its always the H with up and down arrows, should i see 3G? im up in Canada(Saskatchewan to be exact)
It appears i should update from KG2, yet KIES shows no update, i have not dove into Odin to try that out, maybe i should?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

lool! some of these guys on here are too funny. ok how the f*** are u only getting 5 hours? i get 14-16hrs moderate use . i really would suggest rooting your phone. it really helps! i mean with the overheating problem i have under volted and under clocked my cpu and my phone doesnt heat up no more! woooop! lol. funny that my 3g and bluetooth is perfectly fine. oh and rooting is very very easy now and odin is quality and... simple . as im typing this im flashing another rom, lol. flashaholic . its a really good phone and ive had many many phones.
so now i have mixed reviews? should i root or not.

Rooting doesn't solve anything, just gives you access to hidden files. You need to flash a newer rom(kh3 or kh5) and hope it fixes those issues.
I agree with the above poster, I've been using android since inception and I don't believe in rooting a phone to mask the issues you are having, upgrade the software, there are many roms to choose from, get the device running well before you think about rooting.
People are giving new android users the impression that rooting is the answer for phone issues, it is not.
Rooting is for advanced users who want the extra access to explore the power of android.

@BrokenPixel, H or H+ doesn't drop to 3G as fast, if your Telco doesn't support Fast Dormancy, or you have Fast Dormancy disabled.
I like Blackberries, it is lacking as a end-user smartphone, however for companies, I still like the privacy with point to point encryption. Android does not have that unless you purchase a 3rd party application which means both parties have to have it as well. Again, it really depends on what you are using the phone for. I still recommend using the right tools for the right job.

I am in Canada by the way(Saskatchewan) and i am running on the Sasktel network(Bell essentially)
I always thought i had to root in order to install something different then KG2?
i am not sure what my network supports, but i have NEVER seen 3g since the day i bought it.
i have turned off some of the recommended things to save battery life, it seems to be helping, we will see what i get
If your problems are related to your settings, flashing newer firmware (KG5 for example, works fine with me) will only really help if you do a complete wipe/factory reset. See the guides for that.
That would be done best by rooting with CF-root, going into CWM-recovery, doing a backup there, do all "wipes", reboot straight into download mode and flash the fresh firmware via Odin. The guides are all there.
Just make sure to play with some settings like gsm/wcdma in your network settings first.

Have you never heard of BB's? He came from a Curve..basically a glorified pager. He could probably go 3 days on that thing with a single charge. Kind of like going from a Commodore 64 to a high end laptop.
One thing I haven't heard mentioned about rooting is the fact with root you can install Titanium Backup..and with the Pro version..freeze apps (instead of deleting) which allows you to fiddle with perhaps some rogue apps that are draining your battery.
As usual with most Androids..make sure you don't have FB or Twitter syncing crazily (and if you're running multiple tweet or FB programs..be sure they aren't syncing as well). I'm not familiar with Touchwiz..but if they have their own "social networking" apps that you don't use (and you use the actual apps themselves instead) be sure to check those and make sure they arent sync'ing either (and better yet freeze them with TiBu).

Does this app drain anyone's battery and make it really hot? Is it just me? I googled around and see this for other devices but can't find any info for this device.
Yes. That was the first app I killed as soon as I could. Not sure what the deal is with it specifically but it was always running and keeping the cpu heated.

WWF was one of the first battery drainers identified in Entropy's Known Identified Battery draining apps thread in the General Forum.
That said, as long as you don't sit staring at the screen trying to find a word for extended periods of time, and set it's polling times down to 30 minutes or an hour, it doesn't eat that much battery. I can still get idle deep sleep percentages in the low to mid 90's with it installed and set on 1 hour polling.

I might have to fire it back up and try it again. I did like the game a lot. I thought I'd tried setting the polling pretty high but maybe I didn't. Maybe I can get my word addiction back on...

WordFeud is a much nicer alternative - just doesn't have an iphone app or web interface so it makes cross platform gaming tough. If you are only playing with other android users, you might try to get them to switch...
is get around 90-85% with about an hour of music/a bit of texting here and there. from about 7 am to 2:30 am. is that good, without words with friends installed ofc.

Wordfeud does have an IOS app, I play it on my iPad all the time when I'm at home. It runs as an iPhone app upscaled, but it still is easier to read than on the phone most of the time. I prefer Wordfeud over WWF, but my wife likes WWF, so I'm stuck with both...link to the IOS version below (yeah yeah yeah, I know this is an Android phone/forum. But guess what...I don't really care).

Wow - Craine thank you very much. I've been stuck in WWF land for so long now (due to all my iphone using friends) that I didn't know WF had put out an iOS app. Guess I have my work cut out for me getting everyone to switch over now!
This app had sucked since the day it came out. Just boggles my mind that it continues to be more popular than word feud

The only thing going for Android for me are the apps. If the apps work well enough emulated in webOS, then I will be keeping my HP Touchpad!

Well, I look at it this way. If someone told you that you could spend $30ish bucks to go from about a day and a half battery life to about a week battery life, would you do it? That's basically what happens if you stop using Android and start using WebOS. Like previous poster said... only missing the Android apps.

I see your point...but what i meant when i said i hope people wont be dissapointed, its because im afraid that the user experience with that software will never be close to what you can have with native android. The videos they posted shows pretty simple applications, and even there you can see there is a bit of lag....i hope people wont spend 30$ on this and then they will have to switch to android if they want to play games or use some other app that is too laggy on the webos side. But dont get me wrong, im the first one that would love to play android apps on webos, mostly because of the battery as you said, but not in exchange of a poor user experience like lags etc...

After I fixed the standby battery drain, I tested and got 21 days of standby time. This fix is included in the latest available CM9 and CM10.
Note that this was with (practically) no apps installed. So adding apps that wakeup the TP will decrease that time, but it's MUCH improved.

I've uninstalled as many apps as I don't think I NEED. Also, did you run with location services on? I turned off syncing for basically everything to try and see if I can get better battery life.

Believe me... I lived in that thread for a period of time. Is that something that will get baked into the rom going forward so we don't have to worry about reflashing it periodically?

Well, I look at it this way. If someone told you that you could spend $30ish bucks to go from about a day and a half battery life to about a week battery life, would you do it? That's basically what happens if you stop using Android and start using WebOS. Like previous poster said... only missing the Android apps.

I have been using Greenify to help nail down the programs that wake the system all the time and my battery life has improved even more.
This capability in WebOS might be good if it is fully supported by the application developers or a way to work around the unsupported hardware issue. At this point there has been a bunch of development in CM for Touchpad and not really a need for WebOS especially without the core updates and support we are getting from Android/Google.
ACL Pre release
There have been delays to this project, but the pre-release beta is now in the hands of testers.
Reports are mixed, but generally positive. Problems mainly involve installation issues, but generally it is being reported to work quite well.

When is this damn app getting released!! I really love using WebOS and running Android apps in it would be perfect.
My Nexus 9 is running slow most of the times and it takes while to I switch between apps or open an app most of the times...what is the fix for that? I have been trying clearing the dalvick cache several times but no help...and I really don't have lots of apps. Thanks for your help in advance.

try flash custom kernel..the memory management is very good with custom kernel

Try tapping on 'Memory used by apps' on that memory settings screen, should let you know what the culprit is

Firstly, you need to face the fact that 2GB was a bad decision by Google for this tablet. There is nothing that we can ever do about that. :crying:
If you want to stay on stock, Chrome is the main culprit in consuming Ram. Switching to Habit Browser makes things better as well as changing your DPI to 288. Do a search on XDA regarding this. Whilst it improved things, it was still not enough for me.
I snapped a week ago and have now rooted and flashed CM13 and stuck with Habit. I've been using a few days now, and for the first time, I can keep my 3 Fantasy Premier League Tabs open, (they are huge,) without constant refreshes, redraws and lag. :victory: Right now, I feel for the first time, I'm getting what I paid for and the Nexus Experience. The only bug so far, is that always listening doesn't work.
If you've just bought this tablet, I'd consider returning it if you are not prepared to root. The performance will never be acceptable on stock.

Clearing dalvik cache will do precisely ONE thing and ONLY one thing; make it take a long time to boot next time as it regenerates it.
Ignore the amount of available memory. People who are concerned about the amount of free memory are trying to apply bad mswindows knowledge to Android. Totally different and no comparison. UNUSED MEMORY IS WASTED MEMORY!!!
So here is how memory management works in Android; it *preloads* everything that it thinks you are most likely to actually use, so that when you DO use it, it is more likely already loaded and starts up very quickly. If you are switching to something that is NOT already loaded, then it just needs to dump lower priority programs out of memory, which basically only takes a few nanoseconds (billionths of a second). So that is NOT it.
If your device is acting slowly, then you need to figure out what the actual cause is. Trace the CPU utilization with something like the "top" command (the one with busybox is a lot nicer than the one that comes with Android) while you are experiencing slowdown. You can also look to see if there is excessive I/O happening (i.e. read/write to the internal storage), and of course, some software will require a network exchange before it will start up -- nothing you can do about network lags.

I have done it several times. As I said, I really have not so many apps and just the very common google apps are installed.

Thanks for your reply. Yeah, most of the times, the slow down happens while I am in chrome and browsing..it actually is not snappy at all in internet browsing...however, I remember it was back in the days that I had bought it.
No, I have this Nexus 9 since last May I think, but have not yet found the time to root it and flash a custom kernel and rom . Anywyas, I have done it previously for my other devices, so not that much rookie in it. Probably will give it a try,

I think that is exactly the problem as even sometimes switching between the apps that I have just opened is also so slow and the nexus lags badly....Yes, I am aware of the network lags, but the problem I was talking about does not have anything to do with it...I will try the command you said, but can I run it on stock rom? I have not yet rooted my nexus nor flashed a custom rom.

You can do some investigation by watching the processes and seeing which are taking the CPU and memory on stock. The problem is, when you find out, there isn't much you can do about it.

Its quicker and easier to just install a custom rom where this type of work has already been done for you. :victory:
Lately, I've discovered that loading Chrome immediately raises my CPU temp by 30+ degrees. Sometimes that's enough to make things run really slow

Web browsers are DEFINITELY a source of slowdowns.
The problem, more often than not, is actually *javascript* that is written by MORONS. Even on a desktop machine, you can watch the web browser for CPU and RAM utilization, and it just grows and grows and grows until you finally kill the process and start a new one.
What this may come down to is actually quite simple; the CPU in the Nexus 9 is actually more suitable for use as a stovetop than an actual CPU. These things get way too hot way too fast. If you beat on them with a web browser, they'll get hot and throttle down to low/verylow frequency, which will make them generally unresponsive. So if that is what is happening to you, there really end up being a few options to deal with it;
1) disable javascript in the browser,
2) don't use the browser,
3) improve the ability to disperse heat from the CPU.
For #3, you may note that when it gets hot, it is pretty localized to the corner of the device up near the power button. An easy solution to distribute heat better might be something simple, like adding a layer of copper foil to the inside of the back cover. The thicker the copper foil the better. I also found chrome was slow starting up, switching tabs etc. Found that logging out of my Google account in chrome improved this. Seems that synching tabs etc triggers the pause. This might be an acceptable workaround for some but I appreciate it isn't a great fix if you want to use that feature. Actually I'm not bothered as I think Google know too much anyway. �� But the underlying problem is this tablet... I don't have this problem on my phone.

Yeah, they do get hot...and the browser is the problem, I agree...however, I think they are not the main reason...there is something wrong with low memory or maybe some apps...

I don't agree with that.
We use our N9's *all of the time*, and there is never any perceptible slowdown. Possibly with the exception of straining them with web browsers, but web browsers are... poopy... on EVERY platform and device, so that doesn't really stand out. Typically just minimize the use of web browsers and all is well.
Web browsers were good in 1996 when they were simple things to display an html website. Since then, they've added all kinds of useless crap to them that bloat them out, hog up tons of memory, and just generally make them into a useless waste of space.

Update:
I think I have kind of find the problem of low speed of my Nexus 9...I uninstalled an app that was for weather prediction and from that time on my Nexus 9 is very fast and responsive...No problem so far. I also uninstalled some other apps alogaide that which I was never using them,so I am not sure if the weather app was exactly the reason of the slow downs...but the other apps where just some games or some simple apps....well, I hope this information helps! Let me know your idea. Thanks everyone
