Is it possible for someone to make a guide on how to repair the USB port on our Xperia X10?
I think this guide will be coming in more handy as by looking the issue is apparently quite common...
Thanks in advance

This is a disasembly guide for x10 just follow it and only 4 solder joints, its easier than it looks, I did it. Tick thanks if this helps. ;+)

Well that guide is rather known to me but as I looked at it there is no mention about soldering. There was a topic here on xda about broken USB with links to other guides about soldering proper points but as I remembered it could only fix charging battery through USB however without any control of charging. Do ya think it is possible to fix USB transfer?
Yes under the metal USB cover at the back of the socket there are 4 small connections, the outside pair are for charging as yours is charging they are ok the middle 2 are data, just flow some solder using a fine tip, its easy, good luck let me know how you get on.

Hmm the point is that my USB conenctor is just fine. It's a problem with IC controller on motherboard. That is the most common and problematic issiue. I'm not sure if we are talking about that same situation. Surely most people are mistaking their problems with connection and charging as USB port being broken. But that couse, I think in most cases, isn't true.
Firstly, I loosed data connection and I could only charge battery VIA AC charger but very slowly. Than, after couple days, I couldn't even charge at all. It happen just like that, no mechanical damage, no nothing. Just happend.
No my connections looked fine but on metering from the USB connector to the filtering circuit it was open circuit I flowed solder on the joint I then had continuity reassembled and all worked great, no need to go to the interface circuitary. I am saying if the system cannot read the voltage drop across the shunt resistor it cannot control the current and will not charge

So I noticed that my phone is not charging while plugged into the USB in my car. Tried using mobile search which is useless. Also noticed if I wiggle the port it sometimes grabs the charge. Just need to know if I have to put back to stock and turn in for warranty. Kinda live off my phone, I drive for a living so I need it working right.

Does your charger work in a wall socket? If it has the same problems, it's the charger. Try buying a new one to see if it works like that. But I can't think of anything on the spot while you're driving.
Also, you shouldn't be using you're phone while driving. D:

Wiggle the port on the car side? Bad car charger/cable.
Wiggle the port on the phone side, bad USB port/cable.
How clean is the socket in your car? Often times they are located in ash trays or near cup holders and get filled with spooge, try cleaning the female part of the car charger and see if you get a more consistent charge? Since your not complaining about not being able to charge at home, your USB socket I assume is fine, I'd bet it's either the cable or the cars receptacle (either dirty or faulty)
Wink
Thx for the help I think its the port on the phone . Seems like I'll be having a fun day at the phone store lol btw I drive limos so plenty of down time just no terminal to be had

Even the full site's search function isn't exactly user friendly. It's very powerful, but you have to already know how to use it.

I would say if someone has common sense and any idea how to navigate a forum it should be a breeze. Unfortunately most people are too lazy and want answers naaaooooowww.

Hi, my touchscreen is useless when my charger or headphones is plugged in on my S X S. It thinks I'm touching everywhere on the bottom of the screen. When nothing is connected then it's 100% fine. Anyone else having these problems?

Your charger and/or cable are not original - am I right?

I kind of thought that was the issue. My arc was not on a standard lead.
My XperiaS is on standard cable and does not have this problem.

New doesn't mean they aren't defective.
It means it has a flaw made in production, not that they are old or worn.
I have this same problem. No matter what I plug in. It can be charger, aux cable, headphones. All the same effect. It long presses stuff at the bottom. Meaning the 3 capacitive buttons, 4 app shortcuts on launcher and usually the space bar. It's truly annoying

well since it seems only a few people are experiencing it, I don't think it's a normal issue with the device...
I switch between Sony/BB/Whatever I have laying around for cables all the time and have never experienced this issue (along with various headphone cables: Sennheiser, Sony). It sounds like a device fault :/.
Have you by chance posted something on the Sony forums about it?

This issue is normal when the charger is plugged in, but I've never heard it in conjunction with headphones.
It is because of very low parasitic currents which occur if you connect your device with the mains (= charge it).
If the transformer is of high quality, those currents are near zero and of course it's also a cable issue. Small manufacturing tolerances can cause high impacts on that.
Seems people are having this problem with multiple Xperia devices and with this app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.metalev.multitouch.visualizer2
You can clearly notice the problem. Multitouch itself hardly works when plugged in, doesn't even register 2 fingers. But when unplugged it recognizes 7 fingers!
I FOUND THE POSSIBLE CAUSE AND SOLUTION FOR IT!!
In my case I removed the shatterproof sheet that is preinstalled because I stupidly scratched it. I failed at putting on 2 (two!) screenprotectors. So I decided to call it off and use it without a protector.
When testing with the Multi-touch app, you clearly see a difference in behavior when connected to the charger, headphones or any other device.
First I tried with a small piece of cloth between my screen and finger and saw great improvement. I had some old Nintendo DS screen protectors lying around and tested with those too on my screen. And surprise surprise. All problems were gone.
So my tip to all for this is:
Try a screenprotector on first as it might fix your problem!
DAMN! Why did I remove mine??
Edit: I'm getting the exact same result

I am also experiencing this issue..and this is annoying. VERY VERY ANNOYING!
I play games on my phone like all the time and damn i cnt do it with the charger connected!

Hello guys I need some help and wiil organize the info as best as I can
Origin: started getting a msg saying "voltage to high, charging paused" when the phone wasnt even charging!! after a little drop of water in usb port. Phone would also turn on by itself.
Have done: bought 3 new USB ports buy none worked properly, they fixed the problem with the usb port but then I cant connect to tmobile service, phone does recognize the sim and when I do a network scan it does find at&t but not tmobile. Its like I loose a band.
Flashed a different firmware and baseband. Currently on XWLPT kernel and XXLQ6 baseban and still no luck.
As soon as I change to the old USB board I get instant service with tmobile :s
REPLACEMENT PARTS: USB boards two rev2.2 and one rev2.1
Please advice, I dont understand whats going on :s
THANK YOU SO SO SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP

Yeah, i guess it is but I hook it up in all of the board equally though. And still no luck with the new ones :s
There has been twice as much people on here saying that after changing board something doesnt work-than people saying it works ok.
People must be selling faulty stuff.

Yeah at first I thought that but then I bought 3 and all 3 gave me the same issue, so now I dont know what to think. :s
Only thing you could maybe try is change the usb only.Looks like its just 4 blobs of solder shaped in a square that holds it in.

Hey Handale30, did you ever get it fixed? If so, what worked for you?
I have the same issue but with a GT-N7000, I swapped out the USB charge port board. After the change, I get good signal and the it slowly dies and then it's back again.
Need help.
Replaced Charger port flex cable and speaker still have no sound.
What could be causing this issue.
I lareadt hard resey and installed latest RUU still nothing
It's possible that one of the connections is lose or may have ripped. Check that all the cables are firmly secure and in place.

It's either the other flex cable or mainboard issue... I should be receiving another parts phone in a few days and will better at narrowing down the problem.
Its being 1 month My HTC Droid Dna's Audio jack not working.
Around a month ago I feel that my audio jack flickering on and off.
After that stops working for a while and again starts working properly.
Now its completely dead I think.
Tried removing lint from it but there is nothing.
Googled it and found this link

Just want some help here.
Is it the only solution(replacing above unit with sim tray, audio jack, power flex ) for this?:crying:
Or there is another way to handle this (replacing only audio jack if possible).:fingers-crossed:
since it will cost me a lot replacing the whole assembly.
Thanks

Have you tried different headphones. I would say if there isn't anything in it then it probably went dead. Did you make sure the pins inside were making contact?

I read on the forum that someone else that was having problems with their headphone jack pulled the pins out a little bit. They stuck an object in and gently bent them out more and they had success. It's worth a try. Don't bend them too far though.
