Yesterday I published my first app, a live wallpaper, which has already received a few downloads. The problem, however, is that it is not showing up in the market on my Tattoo. It might just be that I'm not permitted to see my own app, but I was hoping that someone here who has upgraded their Tattoo to 2.1/2.2 could have a quick look and see if it is visible in the market?
The app name is : Starfield Twist Live Wallpaper
The pname is: uk.org.openillusionist.starfield
Many thanks,
Dan Parnham
I can find it from my device with SPQRom 0.6 with market patch.
But I've faced this issue with a lot of apps from the first day I moved to an android device.

Has anyone found or manage to install the "USA TODAY for Tablet" on their NC? I'm trying to track down the APK but can't find it.

Does anyone think updating the build.prop to match the Xoom would allow it to be downloaded from the Market on to a NC?
I use the phone version frequently and would love the tablet version on my NC. I was surprised to not see much mentioned about it on XDA. If anyone has managed to install it can you verify that it works on Honeycomb v4? I'm afraid it's going to use a different sdk version (11, not 10 that the Preview image is).
It wouldn't install because we are using the wrong sdk version but if we could get it to install, I imagine it would work. I don't think it's using anything the preview sdk didn't have. Try asking someone in the xoom forums to post the apk. They'll be the only ones who have it.
Don't forget that Honeycomb has a new UI method which this might use. Pulse now will use this, but you won't see it on anything less than Honeycomb.
Activity Fragments
Honeycomb allows developers to break the Activities of their applications into subcomponents called Fragments, and then combine them in a variety of ways to create a richer, more interactive experience. For the landscape view, Pulse allows you to open the story right there in a new fragment. This allows readers to simultaneously browse and read news stories.

I've cross posted in Xoom forum. Maybe someone will post it for me.

Yeah Fragments look interesting. I don't expect the apps to work on anything below Honeycomb.

Does anybody have the .apk for this? It doesnt show up in the market.

Free version. No piracy involved.
Its one of my favorite news Apps, too. Wonder why they yanked it? When I discovered it was gone, I started keeping back-ups of my Free stuff online for this very reason.

Anyone know of a web clipping widget that works with our tablet?
Try this website, you can create apps for website (similar to widgets).
http://www.appsgeyser.com/
It is being discussed here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1056807
Unfortunately, AppsGeyser can only convert existing widgets to apps (so far.)
The "website as app" feature works pretty well, but I have been unable to clip any of the partial pages so far.
Web Clip Widget Trial claims to do this, but I have been unable to get it to work on my VEGAnTab yet. Installs and runs, but displays a blank screen when I try to set one up.
Edit: Mechanixone, I just realized you have already been to that thread. Sorry!
Someone shared this on twitter and I thought it was a really cool looking widget; unfortunately it is for iOS. I was wondering if there was an Android equivalent floating around out there, I have checked the play store for one like it but have found none. I want to see if anyone knows any which are not on the google store, it looks like it would be great for a lock screen or home screen.
(I would like to post a link to the itunes store but I cannot since I am under 10 posts)
Possibly a stupid question, but roughly how much MB are these themes and where are they stored on the phone?
Also, I'm using the Sky theme but wanting to change the News app? When I click on it at the moment it takes me to the Playstore to download NYTimes but I want it to open up my BBC News app, how can I change this? All I've found is how to disable the hotspot or change the name/picture of the app?

Themer themes are quite tiny (roughly between 1-3MB) and are located in /sdcard/MyColorScreen/Themer/ThemeCache.
Regarding the news app, that text has been linked to the News App Preference, which for now can only give the option of displaying the news apps available on your phone. If it can't find a certain app, say BBC News for example, that means it still needs to be added to our list of app preferences (which is continually being added to). A quick fix would be to instead of disabling the hotspot, changing the hotspot to open the BBC News app.
Hope this helps!
Hi all,
I'm in the process of preparing a number of Acer Iconia 210a tablets (JB) for use in the school where I work.
They're going to be 'shared' devices used by up to 5 different users each day, from a user base of about 800. This presents some issues, some of which I have addressed already.
I started trialling the tablets this week and have realised that just using an AppLock-style app to keep the users away from the settings isn't enough: they can set the wallpaper from within the Gallery app (I had a wonderful array of inappropriate images to remove yesterday afternoon!)
I was hoping there might be some bright ideas from this forum as to what might be the best way to prevent the wallpaper being changed. I have root on the devices and already have a shell script that runs on boot that could be added to, if that helps. I am also using ADW launcher, in case that makes a difference.
I have contemplated a couple of approaches:
If I knew where the 'current wallpaper' file or setting was stored, I could just copy this to a read-only filesystem and copy it back into the correct location on a scheduled basis or on the device booting. I did wonder if it was stored within ADW and copied /data/data/org.adw.launcher to another location and overwrote it back after changing the wallpaper. This just reset ADW to default settings, except for the unwanted wallpaper!
There are a couple of threads on the forum that state the location of the wallpaper and suggest that changing the permissions of the file would solve this but they must be for older versions of the OS because the file in question does not exist.
I think Tasker can change the wallpaper, so I could go down that route and get Tasker to 'reset' the wallpaper every 5 mins but it might be expensive with the number of tablets we have. (If Tasker can set the wallpaper, surely I can find a command/simple app to do so??)
I was using a live wallpaper and my first thought was that I might be able to just start that process using the 'am start' command but I couldn't find the correct syntax/activity name to test that idea..
There are apps out there that will cycle through random wallpapers on a timer. I could use one of these and just have a 'pool' of one wallpaper for it to select from. I could then just hide the config for that app behind AppLock or similar. However, most of the similar apps I've looked at have a feature whereby you can 'easily add to your random wallpapers direct from the gallery app' - the exact thing I want to prevent. Maybe there is a similar app without this feature that would suit my needs better..?
Which route do you think might be best for me to investigate? Is there another direction that would be better?
Thanks for your toughts,
Tim
