Headphone problem - Droid Eris Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey there folks. I'm looking for some type of script or adb command to over-ride the headphones for every sound when they're plugged in. When using cyanogenmod I found a CM setting, under the sound sub menu, that allows me to over-ride the headphones on particular sounds. This makes me believe there has to be a way to do it for every sound including music and phone calls. Any insight or direction would he appreciated. Thanks

Settings->CM Settings->Sound Settings. I think this is what you might be looking for and it's on all Froyo Vanilla ROMs that are CM based. Check the section titled "Note." It says all of those settings are applied only when headphones are being used. They seem to be what you're looking for. Hope this helps.

I appreciate your response but unfortunately that's what I already do lol with those settings I can enable alarms, notifications, and ringtone. My hope is that since cyanogenmod has those options, there has to be a way to apply that to the few things I still can't hear unless my headphones are in. This would include any/all music apps, hearing who Calls me without having to use speaker phone, and game/app sounds/music. I know my speaker can still play music because one day I was listening to music(with headphones of course!) And got a call. So I unplug my headphones and pick up the call n press speakerphone. Well, after the call when I hit end, I heard a split second of the song I was listening too beforehand on the speaker. That gives me hope that I can eventually overcome this. PS.- none of the headset overide apps in the market work.

No notification / ring sound after bluetooth disconnect

I am running the current leak of Froyo... if I bluetooth connect to my car audio system for hands free calling I lose all external sound when I disconnect. I have gone through all the audio settings with nothing appearing out of place. The first Froyo rom I tried redirected the ringer out the earpiece, the new leak kills it completely. All ideas welcome.... I will try anything. Thanks in advance!

I will take one more swing at this. Anyone?

Thanks for info, unfortunately it didn't fix the issue for me. Back to square one.

I'm having the same issue. each time I connect to my car's bluetooth audio and made a call, I'll lose the notification sounds. even calls won't ring.
currently had to resort to phone's speaker function, but that won't do.
am scouring the net for some answers, and will update if i found anything.
Samsung Galaxy S
How was there no reply to this? I have had the same issue on every samsung vibrant 2.2 rom, including custom roms. now i am having the same issue on my stock galaxy s 4G! Help?
Bump!
Running Nero on Galaxy S.
Same problem with Vibrant + Froyo 2.2
Sounds strikingly similar to my experience with my Samsung Vibrant running Froyo 2.2 + custom Axura 2.3.1.3 ROM.
After disconnecting any bluetooth device, in some cases the phone's speaker is completely muted (media/system/notification volumes all cranked to max) until I either reboot or make a voice call and enable speakerphone.
I've hunted high and low on the webternets for a solution and have come up dry.
I smell a bug.
Same problem Stock Vibrant 2.2

Thanks, I guess - at least I don't have to keep rebooting since the voice call/speakerphone workaround gets my sound back. This is a PITA.
I have the same issue in MIUI_Au since 1.10.x revisions (previous versions worked OK). I had exactly the same problem 6 months ago with Villain ROM and it was the reason I dumped it. It seems to be a CM7 issue...

Thanks for that...keeps me from having to reboot. And I'm even running (embarrassingly) the 2.2 update direct from Samsung. Need to finally take the time to root…

[Q] Ring speaker when headset is plugged in?

I use a plugged in headset, and when calls come in they no longer route through the speaker, instead going only to the headset (which I don't wear all the time). Is there a fix, tweak or add-on for this? I'm using RezROM's Sense Rom now, which I love, but I can't find any settings there. Other ROMs I have used do have such settings exposed (Virtuous ROM was my Dinc2 ROM). Any help appreciated.
Thanks!
Craig
I have often wondered about this myself, as I use my phone as an alarm clock, and there's a chance I will forget to unplug the headset at some point....
I've never seen that setting in ANY ROM, but it certainly makes sense to have it.
I've seen that setting on CM7 based ROMs so you may have to wait for that.

[Q] Sound through earpiece instead of speaker

Hey guys I tried searching for this topic in the forum but didnt find anything. On my note there are some times when the sound will come out through the earpiece instead of the back speaker. This happens randomly and the only way to fix it is to restart the phone then i get sound through back speaker again. Anyone have this issue? I'm running stock phone, the only thing i have ADW Ex. I dont have blue tooth enabled either.
Thanks for the help
There are at least two other threads about this ...in q&a I believe
Both our skyrocket and note behave this way:
When headphones in system notification is played on headphones and ext speaker
Ringtones are played over headphones only. We were using the video ringtone app though. Will test with system ringtones tonight
So far it seems to depend on what is playing the notification

[Q] Tasker script to solve headphones/incoming call/notification issue

Anyone able to create a profile to solve the issue we have with our note. The issue is the following,
If headphones are plugged in and we get an incoming call, the ringtone will play on both speaker and headphones.
If headphones are plugged in and we get a notification, the sound will only play through speaker.
I tried to do a basic script that has headphones plugged in and incoming call for context, then set ringer volume to 0 and play music ringtone.mp3. Add exit task to for the opposite, raise ringer volume, stop music.
The problem is, it worked, if I didn't have music playing already when I get an incoming call, which is the whole reason why I would have headphones plugged in to begin with. The task successfully sets the ringer volume to 0 so at least it didn't play on the speaker, but then nothing would play on the headphones, and the music I was playing would pause (like it's supposed to), but the ringtone I specified didn't play. Ending the call resumes the music I was playing.
Anyone willing to shed some insight on this?
This issue is next on my list. I believe it is an issue with how the phone distinguishes what the sound is. ..phone vs media...hard to explain

Aosp with loud in call headphone speaker and Mic?

Are there any of these out there? ? Well.. not that I've found, and why is it not more of an issue? Am I the only one that makes calls on headphones? I love aosp but unfortunately this is a deal breaker for me since I can't hear very good to start with, plus the other person can't hear me..
I know I have posted this multiple times in multiple threads but I have tried everything I can think of to fix this problem but as of this point I have not found anything yet. At least not anything that will stick it after a reboot. Alsamixer does fix the problem with a few adjustments but it won't stick, obviously a system file resets it at boot.
Last night I found a file that configures the sound and does stick but I have yet to find the correct configuration. The file is toltecdma found in system/etc/sound. Any help is deeply appreciated.
The only one is the latest carbon ROM find it in original development. It has voodoo support built in just download voodoo sound from market . Ill pm you the link.

Thank you, does it also increase Mic volume on the headset in call. Every time I've used an aosp rom my wife has a lot of trouble hearing me and she has very good hearing.

Well, it's not a "fix" but I have finally "worked around" my problem. Using tasker and some alsa_amixer scripts I can now make/receive calls and be assured that I will have loud headphone volume and a loud mic so the other party hears me loud and clear, and just in case I have a tasker shortcut set up that will run the script with a click.
I am now happy enough with the volume that I can finally run the aosp roms as daily drivers.
I also boosted my system wide sounds by editing the /system/ect/sound/toltecdma file. It sticks after a reboot but when a call is initiated the in call settings are reset, hence the need for tasker.
Maybe someday I will figure a true fix for this but for now problem solved.
My assumption is that there is an xml that needs to be decompiled/recompiled (maybe one of the alsa files in /system/bin) to be edited, or the tiny hal configuration needs to be changed prior to building the rom. Not sure, but these are probably my next steps.
