Hiya People
I have looked before about putting android on the Athena but nobody has come up with a working solution I think its time we started this back up from scratch.
I am up for helping with development surely in this collective there are people who could pitch in and do there part im going to look at putting android 2.3 gingerbread on the athena.
if anybody is interested please do speak up
i dunno anything about cooking, but i can beta test to hell whatever you guys come up with ^_^
Android on athena is still problem, there are no kernel drives for ati w2284, diskonchip, 3g, sd. So y can cook some android distro, but these things dont work and those system is unuseable. Athena boots for me from external usb stick, but its still early to cook android system. It needs some person with good C programing to modify existing drivers for athena
Hell,I'm in.......

Hell, yes sir.....I'm in. After all I learn since,Ubuntu 8.04 on HTC Shift,I beleive there is a way to do so....And after all i learn through ubuntu,Mint8,Backtrack3,fedora11 to 14. I'm sure there is a way....I will start doing research on it right now,but were should i start at.The best ways of getting the anwser,is dealing with dudes on Mirc or IRC.Trust me,After all they said and done to me,as in Aircrack with backtrack3 & Ubuntu 8.10 hell i can't wait untill we become HTC X7500 Advantage Android!
I beleive it could be interesting challenge. I have never develop anything similar (enterprise systems only) - so, can you give me links to start with. I want to help and get Android on my Advantage.
I tryed to compile kernel from ltg and some other repos with no success. I only have one working binary-only haret image that boots. Im interested in dualboot androd and just linux with X. If anyone have source of kernel that actually boots and support display adapter plz post.
you go, make me happy.
i use my athena every day, and i wanted to see android on it for years now.
could you use something out of the androidathena project from back in 2008.
I will come back to see if there is progress in this project, there are a lot of people who had made a beginning and then suddenly stopped, hope you will make it working.
Hell Yeah!!!

This link is an All-in-one release Android on Athena file(click on the link above)
This is what the link says:
Quote from mistadman
Hello everyone... I'm back with a new update! I finally got the touch screen working! Still have a lot of work left of course.
If you want to play with it, you can get it here: http://rapidshare.com/files/118229739/Android-Athena-05282008.exe.html. This is an "All-n-1 Release". Just copy the exe to your sd card and run. After clicking, it could take up to 20 seconds to boot. Be patent!
As always, this is work in progress... Thanks for testing!

This is the all in one file with explanation on how to install.
I installed it, but do not know how to use the config and patch.
maybe you can, it should work.
maybe from there someone could pick it up and make a nice android Froyo or Gingerbread for us.
Thanx in advance.
Everything is in here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=393389
Glad to see this
As a long time 7501 user, I use it every day even with sucky WM on it, I am glad to see some people interested in reviving a truely great machine.
athena kernel in-progress
Hello everybody,
So, I am working on the project of athena linux porting. You can find a help on the AthenaInstall link of athena topic from the htc-linux.org wiki
It is a kernel 2.35 for athena and the devices ( screen, keyboard, microdrive, touchscreen, power ...) should work.
You could also install an angstrom rootfs.
I expect after some improvements and corrections to build an athena kernel for android .
Good Luck
I don't know how many started this undertaking. And came up short.
So good luck !!!!
I know that the Dart is based off of the Galaxy Mini, which runs Gingerbread, and was wondering if there is any known way to get Gingerbread on the dart (which runs Froyo stock.) Is there an image of the Galaxy Mini I can flash, or a Cyanogen port or anything? I haven't really seen much as far as custom ROMs for this phone.
Yea any info for this phone will be great I got one and need drivers to work in xp or 7
I am also looking for info on a gingerbread rom for this and there are gingerbread roms for the galaxy mini which is the same device pretty much but someone has to code one.
what do you mean you need usb drivers, to turn it on to usb mode go to usb mode on the device, if you need drivers then you can use the galaxy s drivers from samsungs site
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks
Moving to Q&A
Yes, there is CyanogenMod running on the SGH-T499. Unfortunately the forums where it is posted are down at the moment. Mostly everything is working, there is the screen wakeup delay on incoming call, and the buttons at the bottom don't light up.
If you are planning on doing the network/sim unlock, it has to be done on the original rom, so might want to do that first: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1335548
I can't post external links yet, so here is the post that links to the other forums where the latest CM port is posted: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=19936092&postcount=100
continue developing
ive noticed that development seems to have dragged to a halt on the t499 and i was wondering if someone would be interested in making a project out of this, perhaps continue developing on the cm7 that has already be started, or the cm9 that the thread has been closed on, im not too experienced in development on android but id be willing to help any way possible
I was hoping to find something here for my girlfriends Dart. Looks like I may have to tell her to get a new phone after having it less than a year. To bad. She loves her Dart. I was wanting to make it more enjoyable for her. I'm not a programmer but I can read and follow directions. If there is anything I can do to help, let me know. As of 12/14/2012 my Gf. still has the phone..
First of all, I know that this might not be the right forum for this, but since this id is new I am not allow to post the thread on the development forum. Now that I got that out of the way. I think a lot of you would really enjoy this video =)
We have started an effort to port HTC View to AOKP ICS. It's far from fully working. But we hope to get some of the basic functionality working in the coming weeks before we release the rom. So stay tuned!

List of things that are working so far.
WiFi, touch screen, captivity buttons(no back light), GPS, sound, HW accelaration? (not sure, as we don't know how to test it), internal sd card
List of things that we're working on before a rom release.
1. On screen button has weird look on some apps, it shrinks to a very small icons.
2. HD movies don't play, Omx codec issue?
3. Touch screen seems to be un-responsive in some game apps.
4. BT doesn't work at all (not as important)
5. Pen doesn't work at all (not as important)
If you have any ideas on how to fix these issues or provide some ideas what could be the cause of the issue (for example, you encounter the issue in other devices and know where to look for the issue) Please let us know by posting on the thread or PM us so we could speed up the release.
This thread is now close and has been moved to development forum as there is a pre-alpha rom for download.

That looks great, i dont have an evo view, but a flyer bu i see that you have been able to avoid the graphic seizure we have on the flyer roms, i think maybe you and drew garen could colaborate some of your work, but idk, im not a dev or anything, but looks great
Drew Garen ROM
Same here hope you can collaborate with drew to get the graphical seizure issue worked ot between the two of you - I'll post this in Drew Garen's Dev thread.
We're open to share our experiences, if someone post specific questions regards to a specific problem like graphical seizure issue mhkabir98 mentioned. We could provide some ideas. But keep in mind that we're still talking about 2 different devices so there might be areas where they will differ.
Can you elaborate or maybe post a short video of what you mean by graphical seizure?
if i get the time i will eventually take some pics and tape it so you can see it
Wow, looks great so far. Hope to see WiFi, Bluetooth, and GPS working soon.
I'm willing to test if you need it. I don't really use my View for anything important right now.
awesome man! pumped!
looking good! thanks for sharing the progress. sounds very promising. as a view user, the idea of getting ics before the flyer makes me grin.

funny,
i think the Flyer is at the same stage too
you're in a competition and reached the same breakthrough around the same time, cool!
you should work with Garen on the wifi solution, there are always room for programmers to fix things.
This is awesome!!! I had kind if given up.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
wow i might have to dust off my view now lol
wifi works now. will post a video later with the latest
I will happily donate for this, thanks for your hard work!

Got a newbie question. Since we're building this rom from HTC HC kernel source + AOKP source tree. Does this consider porting or building a rom? What is the difference?

my personal opinion which is: porting if you have no compatible drivers available or framework already working on the platform.
- If HTC did not develop any drivers and framework for ICS and for our view/flyer, it becomes a port.
- If you use drivers from another device because HTC did build it, its a port.
- If you take panel device kernel driver and adapt it to this device, its a port. but changes are development.
porting is using existing source or drivers and make it work on another device.
kernel is an exception since all of it is opensource and everything build a custom kernel.
framework in aokp builds are modified aosp sources, where most is compiled from source with changes to source (which becomes a port, like you see old games ported to new devices)
but those i made, are nearly 100% ports, i did smali changes, a few library hardcoding changes into binary files, and only a few kernel changes.
i would call my changes 100% porting.
even if i ported a camera driver from desire hd, which again is not build from scratch.
a rom build is very common as i see it, when guys combine files after their choice and changes some graphics + apk's changes. that is a definate rom build. if you got not development c/java/smali involved) it cannot be a port or a developer rom, its a rom mod(ified) of an original with changes.
its not easy to define "build" .
a modified rom build, or compiled build from source.
not a direction on the term, but just my opinion on this.
(previously already mentioned that ports never are any good, and ICS builds from source are better.)
some people porting are better than others.
Hello all,
Sorry if this exists already, I did a little looking but didn't find anything so I thought that I would ask. I bought the APC and while the system is nice, I was hoping that someone had done some development on new ROMs for this bored and maybe new kernals though I know the latter is a bit more tricky as they are refusing to release some of the source for certain modules of the kernal. If someone could point me in the right direction it would be nice. I'd just like to update mine so that I could take advantage of some of the new features in Jelly Bean in a project that I am developing at the moment. Again thanks for any help that you can give, and again I apologize for any repost or if this is in the wrong place.

some development...
VIA recently released a firmware update for the Rock from 1.0.0 to 1.0.1 on February 6. Not much of an update and no added support. USB GPS still a no go. lilliput 7" egalax USB touch screen still has the X and Y axes reversed. They did however change the default of ADB to use the USB OTG port instead of ethernet (thank God). I want to use this as the brain of an inexpensive Car PC. For that, I need the touch monitor and GPS to work. Is there ANY community development, or should I look to another platform?
I received a request by a few people asking about MultiRom....
I know that @Skin1980 ported multirom to your device some time ago, I also know that as he did a good job, it wasnt perfect..
As I talk to @Tasssadar almost everyday (Hes the Creator/Owner of MultiRom) . I have a fully working Port of MultiRom V32 With a fully working Modified TWRP 2.8.6.X.
and the Kexec Patch that I use is not the same as the ones you have grown you know. Mine is independent from the other patch. This one was created with the help By @tasssdar. Do to
the G3's strange memory locations. Anyhow. It does Work with Stock OEM roms. using a special hooks file.
If anyone wants a little more nfo on it, let me give you 2 links,
Links: MultiRom V32 G3 (D851) T-Mobile
Links: MultiRom V32 G3 (D850) AT&T
If you are interested in me porting it over here, Then respond, otherwise I wont waste my time.......
My Device is in my Sig, I have the D851..
Anyhow, I will check back and see if anyone is interested, after one day, Its final.....
That would great.
That would be freakin awsome.
Please port
I will be honest, I dont mind porting this over, But my head is really not with all this anymore. I have been stressing my self out
by fixing this and fixing that, and listening to everyone cry and wine about whats working whats not working.
To the point that I need a break. I do what I do to help the community, This is what XDA is for. I dont mind doing what I do.
I didnt know how to do anything till I did alot of reading and had some really good people teach me the ropes.
But that wasnt an overnite job, Kinda took me a few months of learning before I was able to take on the job of coding and porting and knowing
what went where and why.. and the differents between all the source codes avail.
So, with all that said, Just give me some time to clear my head............
I think it would be great I loved multirom couldn't run without it until everything got updated to 5.1 then roms would not install properly. Take all the time you need and don't let external factors stress you out. I look forward to the amazing work you and all the developers have done and continue to do. Peace!
I would love a working multirom
