i'm just curious, because i've been interested in overclocking my Vibrant to 1.6, even 1.2, and i KNOW you can overclock it to 1.2 right now, but here's the problem.
i have the Auxura 2.05, and on top of that, i'm using the new and updated BlackFroyo. it works great, but i'm having a hard time figuring out how to use Auxura 2.05, BlackFroyo, and the Core 1.2GHZ from TeamWhiskey all at the same time. if there is a way, can anyone please enlighten me? i would really like to put this into effect.

Why don't you use one of eugenes kernels? Seem to work fine on most 2.2 roms.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
The core kernels only work with 2.1 roms.
Yeah like the last poster said the core kernels were/are for 2.1. If your registered at TW website they have a 1.2 ghz kernel in the forums. Brahma. Im not sure we have a perfectly stable fully operational 1.2 kernel yet. TW hasn't done anything with Brahma in a little while and Eugene has pulled some of his. If you're using Axura I would just use the voodoo kernel in the OP for now. I have been all week and its pretty solid. Good performance and battery.

Went from fjd to bionix-v today phone was oc'd but now setcpu won't let me oc bionix-v . Am I having an app problem or can you not oc it?
Sent from my Atomic Vibrant using XDA App
No its not...yet. Once the 2.2 source is released then team whiskey can go to work on building kernels that can oc/uv.
you can overclock with there dow kernels. it overclocks to 1.4 ghz and the phone is amazing fast but the kernel is based on gti9000 so the battery wont last long like 8-10 hrs on standby. but it still has voodoo patched into it so its crazy fast.

TW released a new OC today and they said it supports bionix mainly.
Its called power something look in development section

I didn't want to point him on that direction. I was assuming he was fairly new and the overclocking kernels can cause issues on some vibrants.
Powered by Axura with a dash of Voodoo
Yeah.....the dow is a little more than I want. Friggin quadrant score went from 880 to 2600... its very cool but not for me. Think ill search for something a little slower. Lol

I don't blame you. Once the source code is released then the devs will work on building kernels. It will be worth the wait.

Hey guys. I was wondering what kernel and or ROM is the fastest availible at the moment.
I've been following the Android Developement pages here for a while, and I consider myself somewhat proficient at flashing firmware, etc.
I'm running CM7 on my Vibrant right now, and I was wanting to flash a different ROM. I considered going back to stock, but I wanted to get input on what is the fastest availible right now.
Also: what lagfixes and overclocking tools do you use? I am trying to make my Vibrant as fast as possible.
Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
Malice is the fastest. Bullet kernel is the only one which can do 1.4Ghz so i am assuming its the fastest.
Agreed! kernel/ROM (imho) Bullet1.42Ghz/Malice2.3.1.
Another good kernel i like is Tigersbloodv3
Both those kernels OC well if ur phone can handle it.
If your phone doesn't play well with OC my personal favorite is CwK
Also, download Spare Parts from the market and set both animations to "fast"... this makes the ROMs appear much faster.
The real test is going back and forth between apps and the load time.
"fast" is kind of a floating point. As someone already mentioned, fast can sometimes be as easy as speeding up the animations.
I've had great luck with the SimplyGalaxy roms due to their ability to remain fast months after flashing.
Cool! Thanks for all the input, guys!
What about overclocking and lagfix utilities?
I heard there is an app or tool that you can overclock, but set to underclock when the phone is not in use...
Also, I was using one click lag fix on stock, is there anything like that I need for these ROMs, or does it come built in?
For over/under clocking, try setcpu from the market.
OCLF is nowhere near as good as Voodoo. Most ROMs that are available in the dev section come with a voodoo injected kernel.
Try vibrace overclocked. I guerentee you will love it!

Malice or Bi Winning W/ Bullet Kernel.
Then spare parts to adjust animation speeds. <3
I personally found MIUI to be the snappiest at 1.3 ghz.
I've been running custom ROMs on my vibrant since the day it became possible, and every time I install something other than one of Eugene's ROMs I come to regret it.
CM7 with a custom OC/UV kernel gets a 2100 Quadrant that translates to a really snappy UI and 3D faster than any 2.2 ROM.

I reach quadrant scores in the 2700's on 2.2.1 roms....but what does that really matter.

Where can I get the bullet kernel, and how do I know if it is compatible with my ROM (Bi-Winning V2)?
Thanks poxxy!

I just need a stable 2.2 ROM, preferably with a 1.4 GHz overclock.
Stable roms (that I've tried) - Bionix, Trigger, and Bi-Winning
Since you want to OC, you need a custom kernel (i think all those roms just come with Stock voodoo). Any OC that you will do will not create a stable environment for your Vibrant (everyones CPU is built differently so results will vary). Basically, OC and Stable do not go in the same sentence.

I meant Vanilla Android, AOSP, not touchwiz b-s. Is Bionix 1.3.1 a good ROM?

Best of luck with that, other than cm7, there are no true asop roms/builds for the vibrant.

Bionix NextGen 1.3.2 with whatever overclock kernel is recommended.
Hands down.
I'm not currently using it for testing purposes (and because the theme sucks so hard, sorry TW, I love you but you gotta admit that ****'s ugly.)
Try SGS II clone V2. It's stable, and looks great. I'm running with an Overstock kernel.

I've found on my vibrant that a 1.4ghz overclock is too much.. 1.2 is stable though.
I'm using the trigger rom it runs great with of but you don't need to overclock to 1.4 to improve overall smoothness

Im running bionix next generation with bullet kernel and get a qs score of 2600 or better and is fast as hell and very stable! Been running it for about a week with no freezes or crashes battery life isn't all that great though only downfall. Lol

I'm thinking of flashing my phone with bionix-v, but was wondering which kernel I should use. On the Team Whiskey's official bionix-v page they have four compatible kernels to use. But my question is what does each of them really specialize in or do?
¤Here's the four kernels:
OverStock v1.3 by cmenard
DoW14 v1.1.1 by Morfic
Dragon v5.0 TEST1 by Ttabbal
Categorically Worthless by s0niqu3
Sent from my SGH-T959 (Vibrant)
I recommend Cmenards bullet kernel. There the best for speed and battery life.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA Premium App
Personally if you're not planning on OCing my preference is always CwK(keep in mind that it is no longer supported by s0niqu3). If you do plan to OC my first choice is always TB.
- DOW was the first OC kernel flashed for me and I never really had any issues with it.
- Overstock is proven and stable, included in many ROMs as stock kernel and most people prefer it to others, just personal preference really. Good luck!
DOW and overstock are both great, but keep in mind that while bionix lists tthose as the compatible kernels, you can use several other kernels, those are just tthe ones they recommend.
Also keep in mind that that post is very old so there are plenty of great New kernels
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
When I ran Bionix, I used Overstock. I'm always a fan of cmenard's work, and that kernel ran great.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA Premium App
Bullet. No question about it.
Bullet is great, you can also check out the new bali-x oc/uv capable. Have fun test em out i swear i switched kernels every 2weeks but i always get stuck on bullet kernels..just pure speed

Overstock is not bad but its dated.

what rom are you guys using?
i just rooted my vibrant and want to know what rom right now is working good..with the least amount of issues and bugs
most importantly where i dont get missed calls or txts
im guessing cm7 isnt fully working
From what I can tell the most stable ROMs are still 2.2 since CM7 and other Gingerbread roms still have issues with GPS and battery power. The two best established ROMs I've found are:
Project V from 6/11/2011
Team Whiskey's Bionix-v 1.3.1
fwiw out there, I wish there was a "stable, widely used and fully functioning" section in one of the FAQs. I know a number of the regulars on here are comfortable flashing, but I would guess a majority of the readers/lurkers just want one stable ROM to use for the rest of their phone's life.
Good luck!
hahaha yeah thats me...im always trading phones..traded my sidekick 4g for vibrant plus 75 bucks
would you post the most current link to the roms please if you dont mind
i really wished cm7 was stable =/
I'm using phiremod. Stable and I can put netflix on without further mod. However, I can't overclock. I really wish I could do that. I'm sure there is a way, I just don't know how to install the kernel necessary with CWM. I'm still a big noob.
Sent from my phiremod Vibrant using XDA App
my vote is for toxic 8. with immortality kernal or bali which comes with it. Plus there is lots of themes available for it. I tried most of the GB roms and they all have great features, but I want everything to work as it should.
Bi-Winning V3 with Bali 1.8.8UV
In light/moderate use, I'm currently on 33% and its been 1d 8h..

there is a section in the development and it has the vibrant bible open that up and look at the kernels section for 2.3 u will see bali glitch neo and so on i suggest neo for best battery life and smoothness i always overclock to 1.44mhz with setcpu and i dont UV
So I'm guessing that all these roms are to SD just how com would right
