to new to be a newbie help please - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi Kids,
My wife just got home from Hong Kong with a HTC HD2 phone with what i think was windows in chinese (i think this could be switched th English) and in turn this could then be switched to Andriod in English.
Now I had not asked for the phone so had no idea what Andriod was or any of the rest of it.
I am not sure how the wife did it but when she was do something she lost the ability to switch to Andriod and in trying to reset it I think she has done a factory reset so it is now Chinese OS with nothing else on it no Andriod nothing but Chinese OS. on the one hand she is Chinese so not bad for her but I have been trying to change the OS to UK and start again.
I first looked here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=591314 but that was a bit over my head and then ended up here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=606713
but i have no idea what a RUU_signed.nbh having looked further there is talk of original ROMs cooking and kitchens. Is the original rom a disk that came with the phone ? i dont want to try anything as i have no disk and dont know how to get the original ROm. I really am lost now I will do some reading but I have really been thrown in at the deep end is this tech is completely new to me.
thought please

Even a factory reset won't have deleted the Android folder from the card. Find File explorer. Find the Storage Card and there will be a folder called android. Tap the file called CLRDAD - nothing will happen, don't worry. Then tap the file named haret and wait - Android should boot up the way it was.

newbie stuck his xda1 with rom upgrade, please help

Hi, I already read a lot in the forum and the wiki, but as my first try to update my rom went terribly wrong I tend to ask some pros for help
I got me a used XDA1, it worked fine and was a german O2 Model. Then I got the last Update from O2 (3.19) and updated it with success. Then I wanted to unlock it with your Special Edition Rom, downloaded it and tried to apply it just like the O2 one via active sync and progam A. Result was, that my xda got stuck, now I can only see the empty transfer bar on the xda and can´t connect to the xda with active sync anymore. Both resets won´t help to bring the xda back to live the silly bar comes back every time... I can still get into the bootloader, though. As far as I understand I can still get the thing working again with a SD-Card and a rom on it? Can someone pleasepleaseplease tell me which card to buy (I don´t have one jet...) and how to get a onto this card and where I can get this rom? I still have the Files this O2 exe unzipped onto my disk and theres a nice 31MB NK.nbf in the Program/German folder. I already found the description how to flash from a SD-card with the bootloader, I just don´t know where to find the right rom and how to put it on a card... And maybemaybe, could someone tell me the right way to get this O2 xda working with a D1 card without getting it stuck again???
Thanks a lot to all your answers, I really need this thing to work again, and still ask myself how I could try to update the rom without reading enough, seems I will cry into my pillow till it works again cause it´s the only cell I got at the moment
Download xdatools and install, choose the nbf file as source and your card reader/writer as destination, choose this from the drop down menu at the bottom. You will need a 64 meg minimum sd card, a card reader/writer, xdatools and the nbf file. Once xdatools has programmed the sd card you insert into xda, push reset while holding power, when prompted push the action key which is the centre of the 4 way rocker switch. You will find many roms in the the kitchen that is kindly run my lumpistefan. Make sure to choose sd card flashing at base of screen before cooking rom. Here is the link for the rom kitchen.

thanks a lot for the fast answer I got all the progs and the original 3.19 german o2 rom from rom kitchen. Now I´ll just have to get me a SD-Card... One more little question. I can´t turn the XDA off with the powerswitch and after reseting it also turns on automatically. I´ll have to wait till Monday to buy a SD-Card, so is there a way to get the thing off although it is still in transfermode or will I have to leave it on and in the cradle?
If you want it switched off completely, just poke once into the hole under the headphone socket, this will completely disconnect the battery, when you want it back on just push once again. Always do that procedure after flashing a rom also, push once then leave for on eminute, push once more to switch back on with new rom and noot sequence.
works fine, thanks

XDA I - OSImageTool Version 1

Tried to make a copy of my ROM to SD Card. Dialog Box shows it copying but after completing in 6mins or so nothing shows on the card. I want to back up prior to copying XDA ROM and unlocking. Any advice would be appreciated.
well
you dont really need to save it on your sd card. You can just back it up in a file on your pc. click the browse button beside the combo box(ie the button with 3 dots) and select a name and a path. it would transfer the os to your pc and u can keep the back up there where its safer.
Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately I've already tried that and I just get an error message - Unsupported target filetype - don't know how to write destinationfile c:\Program Files\etc...
well
okay this is what you'll do :: put this line in the destination "c:\rom\os.nb1"; for the source select the combo box then select from device and it should work. if it doesnt then reply me asap.
Thanks again but unfortunately entering c:\rom\os.nb1 in the destination dialog didn't work. It returned: error opening c:\rom\os.nb1 for writing. The system cannot find the path specified. error opening target device.
Well
PS. Should also add I didn't quite understand your reference to "for the source select the combo box then select from device and it should work. if it doesnt then reply me asap

check the image i just sent u. ull see what i asked you to click for the source.(Device Memory (current rom))
then for the destination clikc the 3 dots on its side and type in a name eg os.nb1 and lcick open. :!: :?:
Cool
Thanks, man. It looks like that's done the trick. It's currently copying. Once that's done I believe I need to load the XDA ROM to facilitate the unlock. Many thanks for your help.
David
no probs men. but i need to unlock some 2 more phones an am having a hell of a time. my bros samsung e700 and my dads hp6315. do u by any chance know how i can get that done
I wish I could reciprocate but unfortunately I don't know much about my Wallaby let alone those you've mentioned. I've just downloaded the XDA ROM and my device is not accepting it. Reading stuff on the forum to try to figure out what the problem is. Don't want to take away from your other problems with the Samsung and HP but let me know if you've heard of any problems as to why a device won't accept the XDA ROM. I'm probably doing something wrong.
Cheers for now.
okay i see you really do not know much. now all you have to do is get the special edition rom u get. then use the same program u used to backup your rom to upload the new one. i really want you to be 100% sure you have a back up. then duplicate the back up for safety reasons. Then extract the speacial edition rom. if its just the rom u got the use the program to do it. if its the whole installation u got a progamm called PROGRAMME A should open and it will guide you throught. Then i hope your phone is a wallaby/qtek 1010/ o2 xda/tmobile MDA they are all the same. else your better stop now. then why dont you lets chat i think it had be easier. yahoo ::nowoxi or msn ::[email protected]
Unfortunately, I haven't IM loaded currently. However, what you told me is a big help. I do have the MDA version of the phone so I'll try that when I get back as I have to leave right now. Thanks again and I'll keep you posted as to how it works out.
Hi nowoxi,
got a problem with OSImageTool, I did my own ROM copy but now how can I upload it to my device in case of need(mine is 2020..)? Do I need a SD card or I can do it directly from the xda image program? Many thanks
P.S. if you find a Yahoo mess request,well...it's me!
Didnt really get your compostition. I dont know where to start from or what to think. I know you have a problem and i know its with the ostool but i really dont get (understand) what your problem is. The rom u said u have. is it one you cooked up or the one on your phone before. then wher edo u wanna send stuff to. your phone or you wanna backup the one on your phone :?:
Sorry for the confusion, here's the story.
I'm the owner of an Orange SPV m1000, I received it last week and don't know much about PocketPC....my device is an English version, I'd like to convert it to an Italian one. I found an ITA ROM (it's for Qtek 2020 but it should work..) and soon I'd like to try to flash it. In case of need (maybe something wrong in the flashing...) I'd like to keep a copy of the original ROM installed in my device so I used XDAtools to get one, as you explained in this thread. Now I have this .nb1 file in my pc and the question is: can I upload it from my pc directly in case something goes wrong during the upgrade flashing? Or should I copy the .nb1 file to the SD card first and then try to flash from it ( but in what way?) ? Hope to made it clear now, thanks to your help!
P.S. Still looking the forum for a guide on using the imagetool....please be patient
Well you can restore it directly from your pc. just follow the steps in the thread. for source instead of selecting something in the combo box. click the 3 dots at the side then use your phone as destination. i hope that helps you out.
Sure thing!
Just one more question: what happen after I have finished upload the .bf1 file to my device with imagetools? It's a kind of autostart procedure or do I have to make some move? Thanks again, bye from Italy
nowoxi
I'm back and about to try to load the XDA ROM based on your instructions. However, question: do I have to removed the existing ROM from my device or will the XDA ROM simply overwrite it?
Hope you're around this Sunday evening/Monday morning!
Cheers
The rom will be overwritten.

Trouble Installing Froyo (rootfs)

Hey guys,
I'm new here and need some help.
I've spent the past couple nights burning the midnight oil, reading through pages of the forum for something that will explain how to fix my problem.
I recently bought the HTC HD2, ditching my unlocked 2G iphone. So far, I'm not thrilled with Windows Mobile 6.5.
I really want to try Android on it. My wife has a myTouch, and I really like the interface. I did some reading around, and felt brave enough to tackle it.
Here's my issue:
I downloaded "HD2Froyo_V2.1", and extracted the contents to the desktop of my PC.
As explained in many places, I placed the Android folder that the zip file created onto the root of my SD card on the HD2. I first run CLRCAD, and then haret.
No matter how many times I run the haret.exe on the phone, I consistently get an error that says it can't locate the "rootfs".
I've tried deleting the Android folder and just placing all the files directly on the root drive, but it still fails to find rootfs.
The only hack I've done so far was to install HardSPL.
Other than that, I've not done anything else.
Any ideas what's preventing Android from installing?
Okay, I figured it out.
Android is up and running just fine.
I am, however, getting the robot voice.
Could someone recommend a solution? I'm assuming I need to try a custom ROM or radio, but I'm not sure which.
Thanks!
It's the radio. I'd recommend the latest one, 2.15. You already HSPL'd it so you're half way there.

Can i edit the wifi section of an *.img with Dragonface??

Hi.. I have been trying to fix a tv stick for a few months now (basically is more about the knowledge i am getting - I am not desperate in fixing it). It is a strange piece, probably clone that i have been tricked in buying. It has an Allwinner A20 dual core cpu with an AP6210 wifi module...
Tried to flash another firmware ti improve it, ended up with the wifi problem. Wifi (and bleutooth) will not start. When i press the button, it just slides back to off... I have read and tried anything i could find on the internet. I have also tried tens of firmwares, but the wifi problem persisted (the original firmware is nowhere to be found).. To cut the story short, the device will not connect to a computer through ADB (it just doesn't seem to support this function - is not a matter of drivers). So everything i have been trying did not include this option...Also the recovery can not be changed to support backup and restore from custom recoveries (i.e CWM, or TWRP)..
What i did manage was to extract a backup from the rom, of another identical device, with the Nandroid App (online version, not through the recovery). Then i used the Dragonface program to edit another similar firmware (MK808C). While loaded, i open the FSOP folder which is the folder that dragonface collapses the loaded firmware for editing and then, i replaced the existing system folder with the one i had backed up trough the Nandroid procedure... Then hit the save button of the Dragonface...
I flashed the new *.img to my tv stick with the phoenix tool, and the tv stick booted normally, looking EXACTLY the same as when i first bought it. I even managed to get the bleutooth going this time, BUT, the bloody wifi still refuses to come on :-/
I must tell you, I know my way through some computer technical stuff but I am not an expert into the coding level and i haven't had the experience of Linux systems (thus i don't really understand coding). I really thought all settings and drivers are included in the system file and copying the original system file into another firmware, would do the trick.. but i guess is not that simple... The thing is that, the way i see it, the problem is probably hidden at the booting level... hitting the system configuration in the advance settings of the Dragon face, will open some coding thing which i don't understand.. but i do see the AP6210 module in that coding, which means that the new firmware includes those drivers..If anybody have any idea or can point me to the right direction I would really appreciate it.. Thanks
I have the same problem with AP6210 on H3 Allwinner STB box. After firmware ugrade from Android 4.4.2 to Android 10 Wifi just don't work, button slides back to off. Drivers are present. Have both firware files unpacked.
Please help! What i have to do? Sys_config? Init.rc?

Huawei P9 Single SIM Bricked - DLoad Folder Stuck on Internal

Hello. I got an interesting problem happening with my Huawei P9 EVA09 I believe the EVA is.
Anyways a few months back I was attempting to get the Android Update off of Huawei's web site for my phone. During the steps, I either missed the note or it was never mentioned, to put the DLoad Folder and ZIP stuff on the SD Card and I copied the files onto the Internal Drive Instead.
Now whether I downloaded the wrong file or I was linked to the wrong file, my phone failed the Flash/Update about like 10-25% saying it was not compatible or wrong version (again, we're going a few months back in memory here)
I learned that rather than cancelling the process and going back to the regular Android, it just screwed the whole phone up and is stuck in an infinite boot loop.
Huawei's Desktop app you connect with the phone won't help
Recovering by downloading the latest version via WiFi on the P9 Fails to get the Package Info, so that's out of the question.
Wipe Data and Factory Reset fails at 0% with an exclamation mark in less than a second.
I also spent days searching the net for solutions but every search just brings up the same solution:
Get the correct DLoad/ZIP for the model, copy it to the SD, then boot the phone with the key presses that start the flashing process.... Problem solved.
But it's not because every time I do this, my phone finds the one on the internal storage and loads that before going for the one on the SD Card, and I have no idea how to gain access to the internal drive to remove the DLoad folder to fix my phone.
I have been primarily a Windows Mobile user for the last number of years, but my 950XL has been giving me problems with my SIM card flaking out every so often, requiring a reboot. I got the P9 essentially for free when I upgraded my plan with Vodafone Aus. So my experience with Android and these sorts of messes is limited.
I'm used to fixing and figuring out Windows Issues since Windows 3.11.... But this issue with my P9 has got me stumped. After searching online on and off for the last few months, I figured this is my last hope to ask the experts here and hopefully find a solution.
I got the right Flash/ROM/Recovery for my P9 all ready to go and load from the SD, followed videos, got it all sorted.... I just can't get it to work with the other files stuck on the Internal Drive and I need access to delete the folder.
But I'm in a Boot Loop.
By the way, it's a Locked P9 from Vodafone Australia.
Any assistance will be appreciated greatly. It's a nice phone, but it was two Android Versions Out Dated and I didn't think the Files from Huawei's site would have messed it up so badly. If this is fixed, I'll leave it at the original version until I need to replace the P9. Sucks, but I would rather that than a bricked device.
I'm back on my 950XL for now and was going fine so I put this problem on the back burner. But now the SIM card is messing up in the 950XL, requiring a restart every day or two. So now I need to try and fix the P9.
Thanks in Advance.
TL;DR
I need to gain access to the Internal Drive of a Locked P9 while stuck in a Boot Loop so I can delete the DLoad Folder located on the Internal Drive.
