It all depends on your preferences. Read some of the posts regarding the different ROMs and developers to see what you are looking for. Personally, I like Axura, but I have tried all of the others and some are stronger than others in different areas. I just boils down to what you like.
Happy flashing.

1. wrong section
2. ROM preferences vary from people to people. try as many as you want and decide what's best for you!
Here hope this helps:

The is not 1 concrete answer,i run Axura and is fast has great GPS and battery life, but some complain about battery life with it,you have to try and see what best for you,Nero 3 and Eugene ginger clone R2 are also say to be fast and good, but i haven't try them yet.
Venture and try more than one so you can see for your self which is better.
welcome to xda but questions go in the q&a section. i would prefer you to do a little reading so you get what you want first try. there are plenty of roms and really its a slew if you check out different versions. what you are looking for is a modem to flash. check out my sig. click the pic
You just gotta tinker man. Try them all and see what you like. Start with Nero v3 and go from there. You can also try flashing different modems and kernels to experiment with speed and battery life. It's all relative, dude. No one ROM works for all. Good luck, and hit up the Q&A section and utilize the search function often. Damn near any question you have has been answered.

try learning how to use Odin first, once you know how to do recovery via Odin, you can start trying out different ROMs.. I tried almost everything in this forum.. as of now my daily driver is Nero v3 with TW..
Ya I figured out how to use odin cuz when I first bought my phone I just started tryin it without fully understanding everything and when I flashed it I had no data signal so I read alot and used odin to go back to stock.

Sorry abut postin in the wrong place

I am on Nero v3 by TW as well. I have found no reason to even try something else a this point, of course that could change tomorrow. lol I find Nero V3 to be very fast and stable and the GPS works as well as any rom I have tried. Also I seem to get good reception with it.
I've tried almost all the roms out and was on nero v3 for a while but went back to Macnut R14. Flashed the jl5 voodoo kernel and the jl5 modem and this is my favorite thus far.
LEARN HOW TO ODIN BEFORE YOU FLASH. Read on ODIN, then READ some more. Try all the ROMs
Usually stock kernels are the better battery wise. The GPS performs more or less the same in all roms. Some roms are faster, but you will pay the price on battery life.
Axura, and Eugene's are using lightly to non modified kernels that give you great battery life also.
Be careful with OC kernals, many phones do not support them, and you are gonna enter in a loop and you are going to freak out.
After that, which kernel to use is mostly your taste. Some of them bring different themes and apps.
IT is all about test and evaluate yourself.......
Thanx for helpin I think I am ginna start wit nero v3 and then just take it from there. If by the loop u mean it just keeps rebootin I have done that when tryin to use odin to go back to stock. Lol I figured it out though pretty eady lol. Thanx every1.

You should use Titanium Backup for your apps.. but you have to do backup before you flash and then recover after flashing..
So im runnin nero v3 wit voodoo now. I like it. A lil better wit the batt and everything but not much. How else can I enhance everyrhing and make it better?

What ROMs do you use?

You can choose more than one answer! Just select your main ones.
You might want to add
Einherjar's flagship, trigger, and loki. I haven't actually tried their rom's out yet, but from what I hear, they are *****in. Might have to give them a shot next.
Those guys are seriously making want to try them out. Hearing nothing but good things.
Powered by Axura with a dash of Voodoo
I ve only ever used Team Whiskey roms...Heathen was in cahoots with them for some time and I'd have no problem going to an EDT rom...I just prefer the black & white/dark scheme
Nero v5 non-touchwiz, ka7 modem, aosp mms.

Need to add "Trigger" to the poll, it's my fav. ROM yet.. works great too.
Where's the eugene love?
flawed poll, too many devs/roms not included.
delete and try again.
Flagshipp alll the way...but u forgot to add that to the poll
sorry about the lack of options guys. this was just based on my initial research on what seemed popular for vibrant. guess i was pretty off!
i'll see if a mod can add the following (post if you want another one added):
flagship
trigger
loki
eugene
ka7
aops
current:
Axura
Nero
Bionix
Gingerbread
Froyo
JK6
KB1
if not, i'll ask a mod to delete and we can try it again with more updated options.
KB1, no problems yet!

[Q] Upgrade to Gingerbread?

Hello! I am new to this forum. I have a Samsung Vibrant (SGH-T959), which I successfully upgraded to Froyo.UVKA6. How do I upgrade further, to Gingerbread (Android 2.3)? I tried to Root my phone using that one-click rooting program, but I guess I was doing something wrong, and it didn't work (three times). Thank you for your response.
No official 2.3 yet
and no stable 2.3 (?) for normal daily use yet

Since there was a samsung gingerbread leak for i9000 a few days ago. I imagine we will see a vibrant leak soon.

With All due respect, perhaps you should just stick to 2.2 for now. While CM7 is a semi-viable option it is a bit more complex than flashing many of the more "standard" 2.2 roms.
Be patient, there are many custom roms you could look into that will surely boost your phones potential greatly while you wait for 2.3 builds to grow and develop.
Try out Bionix Version 1.3 (I believe) or Trigger 2.7. Those are my personal favorites. Right Now I am using a 2.2.1 Rom called Sweet Honey, which is great, but I haven't had enough time with it to give a proper judgment.
Look at the more stable options first, get used to things, learn how to use Odin, about download mode, the different recoveries, even about jigs (if needed); before you dive head first into this cesspool of amazing roms, kernels, themes and talented developers. There's a lot of options that are far less likely to brick your phone.
This thread is a good way to start.

TV-out is not working on this build either which sucks because wiimote works. just cannot seem to get both worlds working for some classic gameplay without toting a frign PC(laptops included) around.

What's the best ROM out right now???

I'm currently using the latest Sombionix Rom and I want to check out some others. Can u guys point me in the right direction please... Thank u!!!

All of them lol cm7 , trigger, bionix, and bi winning with bullllllllllet .
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA Premium App
I started with Bionix but I just recently flashed Trigger. Trigger is pretty rad.
Same here. Ran several versions of Bionix, got bit by the flashing bug and switched to Trigger. Been running the Overstock kernel for a while but am about to try out Bali.
Let me answer your question with a question:
Which make of car is the best?
If this thread stays serious long enough you will find, like most "Which is the best (insert any tangible object here)?" threads, every ROM will get a few hits.
/sarcasm off
On a serious note I have gone between Eugene's ROMs, Sombionix's ROMs and a few of EDT's ROMs. They all have their perks and for some they all have their short comings. If you want the custom ROM feel with a relatively painless installation, go with the one of the above. If you want something a little more custom go with MiUi or CM7 or a few of the other projects.
I personally use Trigger 2.9.4 with OverStock 2.x and enjoy it quite a lot. In the past I've enjoyed Eugene's MacNut series, nearly all of Som's 2.1 and 2.2 ROMs and EDT's Flagship and Trigger.
tl;dr
Pick one yourself and see how it goes, restoring from a backup isn't all that difficult.

The devs in this forum are so amazing, and their ROMs of such quality, that you owe it to yourself to try them all to find out which you like the most.
well since its already been said like 5 times, I'm just going to agree that I put on trigger 3 rom a few weeks ago and have been running overstock kernel for a while before that. but the 2 together. un-freaking believably awesome.
I repeat.. *ehem*
UN-FREAKING BELIEVABLY AWESOME

[Q] SGS2 Roms

I'm looking forward to the cm7 Rom. Just wondering how there are so many other Roms already released how come the Cyanogen Rom is proving to be so difficult?
I'm not mocking the hacksung guys, I know they are doing a lot of good work.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
Because the CM build will be very different from the stock samsung ROMS.
A lot of the ROMS available right now are very similar to stock with only a few minor tweaks.
Thats the short and simple answer.
I was thinking that I was just curious.
Hopefully it'll be out soon enough

that depends on the user. seems to be between villain(which comes with villain tweaks), cognitive and litening and a cpl of others that I dont remember offhand..
Then theres the never ending supply of 'Roms' that are basically just themes, with the odd tweak that some other dev created.
I didnt mention cm7 purely because its not released yet.
I'm using Listening at the minute with the tw launcher.
Found adw a bit clunky and I like the Sammy calander widget.
Is the cognition Rom a wipe and flash or can I use odin?
