I have a sprint touch pro , and i cloned anther touch pro ., just for fun ., the cloned one gets voice txt all ok., however, i cant get connection to internet .
I copied all the info that i could by doing ##778# , profile , modem setting nam ...etc still cant get provision to work, connect , still no experts here.??
is there a way , a program can copy these sensetive settings and can copy to anther TP., can it be done with CDMa work shop ..or other programs , and if so how please.
If you are speaking of a cloned esn then good luck getting it to work as no one or very few have done that. Otherwise you could try I believe a program called PST, save the settings and put them on your other "Cloned" phone. Good luck!
Thank you much for making the effort and replyed., i used or had this program long time back with my motorola Q.but not sure if i look up this program know how to go about using it.??
I was able to get internet on my cloned TP1, but its a bit slow , do not know why .,indeed there is a glitsh , since i cant update profile or prl ...etc the provisioning ...etc, but for know i can even hook up the TP to the PC and get online, but slower still than the original TP1.
ill look into that program PST , maybe i can improve on what i have so far .
sincerely
I believe sprint uses Akey for data identification/authentication, which could be your issue.
pst could not find., only motorola pst i think i was able to find., the Akey window has nothing or if some not much ., the only thing i could not duplicate some pass words , they are wriiten in some alphabets i cant type., they look like some forgien alphabets ..numbers ...etc ., not sure if anyone knows what iam talking about ., but if so, how would i go about copying them from one phone to anther.
try copying the authentication passwords with a 3rd party notepad app. (like phm notepad) the passwords are in unicode and the native notepad does not support.
ok if i may an update
thank you for making the effort you all ., so anyhow i tried to do it i didnt know how.
i installed the PHM note pad ., but didnt know how to copy paste the password from security setting.
for example ##778# then go to security , and try to copy the password under
HDR AN AUTH Password******************
anyone knows of a trick or can instruct me how to do it.??
sincerely
you just need to block his password and copy it, then the security you click on the column filling the password and press Ctrl +V on your keyboard
Iam sorry i didnt understand your instructions.??, i need to block his password.??
If you may be kind please redo the instructions step by step .
thank you
block=highlight=select
ok i got it, well it didnt make a difference that i copied the passwords , not sure why ., it works but way slower than original ., and the passwords didnt make a difference.

finally i got the most turn off things i faced in 2005 to back me up to 2003 but after i installed 2005 for the 4th time & desided to stick with it untill i either solve the problem or microsoft will post solution
1. Etisalat Settings for mnet & MMS
(everytime you install them they somehow crash the original DB of messaging where you will not be able to open your mesages anymore untill you do a format
2. and most importantly Arabic reading writing
after long time spent to fix those problems i finally got them working, see screen shoots
yeah ok , great but how u fixed the issues ?
lol am sorry it was a bit hard, & even worse to explain, i writing down something that might help people around doing it once i find an easy way to make it accesseble to people

Post a cab or tell us what you modified in the registry!!!
Waiting, thanks! :?
Oh something else I noticed the radio rom is 1.08.00, can you dump it?
PC) folder, take a copy of your registry after pasting the file & before softreseting the the device, then reset your device, if it will ask you then if you want to run few DLL files acept all of them, then take another copy of your registry & store it in a differant file, now go to your programs & you'll find arabizer file there in which one of them is english name, another one is arabic as '7ayarat & the 3rd one is arabic letters but mirrored in reverse, this will be always your indication if arabic is now working fine, click on this file, it will load couple of other DLLs but will give you some error message about an AOP????? file, don't mind it, now got to your control panel, (Setting) of your mobile & go to the settings Tab, again it will ask you to load some file.cpl say yes, soft reset your device with a software for soft reset not through the pen, then it will load, if you get an error about some file couldn't be loaded just reset few times & it should work, if you lost you signal in gsm, load the first registry file & softreset your mobile again, it will ask you to load some dll file again accept them then go to the settings to load the cpl file, then reset , if this doesn't work load the second resitry file & do the same proccess untill the file with the names reversed is corrected, now enjoy arabic on your system.
اود التنبية على انني لست مسؤلا عن اي مشكلة تطرأ على جهازك و العملية متعبة جدا
PS. if some get this way working for him i please him to put it in a simplified way because unfortunatly i have too little time to spare on rewriting it in an organized way, but once it worked i had to post it here because this is the best site in the world for PPC's & they deserve the best
Thanks mate I'll give a try later on
now that's interesting , thank u
anyone tried it guys am intrested to know
i think the secret is in the registry integrity & the file loading proccess, if you load the arabic files first after reseting the device they will affect the memory or the gsm loading, specifically the file CPROG.EXE which don't get loaded correctly, actually this is how i found i can fix arabic if i only get it loading after cprog & not before, thats why you put the files manually without the setup file so after you reset the device & when it asks you to load the dll files it will insert it in the registry after loading the cprog not before
guys i heared someone tried it withought backing up the registry & it worked perfectly fine, remaining only is the camera & record button & this should be it for me
i think the camera is the last problem , buttons are working fine 8)

well am not sure but regarding the hard reset only do the clear registry hive option without the format,
hi guys!
we are working for the localize Himlaya WM5.0 to Chinese and Japnese.
On the previouse OS, we need Font and registry, and also need wince.nls which support to encoding to our languages.
without replacement wince.nls, the inbox and IE cant encode to ours.
Usual, we got the wince.nls which has our lamguge support from the device of Japanese or chinese, or take from SDK emulator, or make it ourseleves with MS Platform Builder.
Till the version of WM2003se, easy to replce it.
But new OS of WM5.0, replacement of wince.nls can not be effected, even it was replaced firmly. the OS seems to be ignor that!
@On the Himalaya WM5.0, Some version such like 1.6b, 1.6h, 1.6i can get encooding with new wince.nls, but other version of WM5.0, it was not be able...cant find the reason yet.
@On the Blue Angel WM5.0, also it was ignored by OS
@On the Jasjar just we got, also it was ignored..........
We need find some solution of this system which ignore the replacement of wince.nls.
i already work for that more than 5days ........
I think to localize to Alabian, you guys will have same problems.
Example some of you can replace wince.nls, some of you can not get it.
so if you got some information, please exchange it about that, of course we also let you know if we got it!
Thanks guys!
following is our thread about localize to Chinese / Japanese..
You may know what happened on new OS.

yes. I am using WM5 1.60C WWE, I can not replace the wince.nls in rom with new one.
this is again a simplified version of installing arabic in your WM2005, just install both attached cabs in there sequence & everthing should be working fine
PS am not resposible if it crashes your device but so far it haven't crashed min
to Replacement wince.nls
PLS install this cab,
and place your wince.nls onto \Temp folder
then soft reset. you can replace wince.nls
<exactry saying, not relace.enable to read wince.nls from \Temp frolder>

its the same as my earlier version but before people comlaint about arabic keyboard not getting installed & the need of using a 3rd party arabic keyboard for it to work, also some people had trouble over writing few files & so HOPFULLY this makes the installation far more easier untill Mr Imaginet company decides to develop a fully intergrated 2005 arabizer
Imaginet already created the arabizer for 5.0, but they didn't release it yet as you can see in the JasJar arabized version, we have a new built of arabizer
i think most of you x01ht users in japan are aware that softbank issued a new rom update that has the new open.softbank.ne.jp password hard-coded as part of the rom image and so there's no way to extract it via extended rom or otherwise (it's not in the preconfig cabs/xmls either). they've also announced that after april 1, the old password which most of in japan are currently using will no longer work so we either upgrade to the new softbank rom or we can't access the open network.
anyway, i've been fiddling with this all night and i think i have a solution that i've tested on a couple of different roms but i'm hoping you guys can give it a try as well so that we can call this a solution to the problem. basically, i made the assumption that the password was somewhere hidden and encrypted in the registry though i had no idea where so basically all i did was do a registry dump with a clean install of the new sb rom, went into connections and deleted the softbank connection, then did another registry dump. finally, i did a compare of the before and after using windiff, figured out what changed and i ended up with the attached two reg files. one adds "SoftBank" as one of the connections (hklm.reg) and the other is the encrypted password (hkcu.reg). you need to import these using the registry plug-in that comes with resco explorer (just dl the trial) as that's what i used and it seemed to work. also, after you do the imports, MAKE SURE you power off (not reset) and then power back on. sometimes the registry settings don't stick if you simply reboot.
to really verify this works, you should first go in and delete your existing SoftBank connection in settings->connections tab->connections->manage existing connections (under internet). if you're not confident then go ahead do a backup beforehand or you can just run the sb extended rom again if you can't get it to work. i've tried this with the sb rom as well as an i-mate rom and it's working perfectly...i'll test it with a couple other tomorrow as well. if this works for you guys, i'll go ahead and make it into a cab file.
update: okay, i've gone ahead and made it into a cab so you don't have to muck around with importing reg files. so just download the cab if you want to run a simple cab install. the zip file contains the reg files if you want to manually import yourself. i've tested both and they work fine. again, i must emphasize that you power off after installing it and not just soft reset. try it out and let me know.
FOR THOSE OF YOU DOING CLEAN INSTALLS:
i didn't realize this but when you do a clean install, you still have to install a couple of the sb extended roms before you run my cab. specifically, you need to run PP_ConnVKK_1.33.761.1.CAB and Provisioning.exe to set up the device to even be able to accept the new password/settings. run PP_ConnVKK_1.33.761.1.CAB first and then Provisioning.exe...now once you run provisioning.exe, you'll find that it automatically creates the old SoftBank connection for you under internet->manage existing connections with the OLD password. go ahead and delete this connection, reboot (optional) and then run my cab (new sb settings.cab). power down and up again and it should work.
just to be sure i did a file compare of the [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Comm\RasBook\SoftBank] "Entry" and "DevCfg" keys/entries with the old SoftBank setting active and with the new SoftBank settings active and the file compare showed that the contents were completely different. i was worried that maybe somehow the system was just somehow reviving the old password and not actually using the new one but this does not appear to be the case.
UPDATE:
after some more experimenting, it seems that the cab just restores the sb connection with whatever username/pass that you had installed previously. if you delete the the new opensoftbank username connection and then run the cab, it restores the opensoftbank username/password. if you delete the old "open" username connection, it restores that. very strange since the file compare shows that this registry dump (taken from new rom with new settings) is significantly different than a dump taken from a rom with the old settings yet it is somehow restoring the old settings. thanks for looking into this but for now, i think we have to say that this isn't working. so it seems that password is not simply stored in the registry. it must be in some hidden file that this registry dump somehow activates. in any case, i'll keep working over the coming weeks. sorry for getting everyone's hopes up.
Wow, I think that is great news for every Softbank customer!
Thanks it worked for me. I guess I will find out in April if it will work. I will cross my fingers.
Great job!!
You are the man! Great!!
thanks for checking! are you saying you're unsure if the file actually contains the NEW password and not the old one? well, it's definitely the new password as i created these files using only the new rom, a reg editor and a file compare tool so the old password never entered the picture.
you can actually run this exercise yourself and just repeat the steps i did if you want to be sure as the methodology is pretty simple. all i did was find where the encryped passwd was stored in registry and just imported it over to a different rom as is, encryption in tact. i've made no attempt to hack the actual passwd--we still have no idea what it is but as long as we can use the new settings, finding out what the passwd actually is unnecessary.

i haven't tried this yet, but if it works for you using the new ap opensoftbank now, i believe you don't have to wait until april to see if it'll work. those who've already upgraded theirs to the new rom should be using that new ap already.
i must try this myself later today.
trialdei, thanks for the great work.
that is indeed a great news, I was also wondering how to find this in the registery but was not sure that the different key I found were the correct ones. I will try on my other Hermes tonight and we shall see ! But the very promissing point here is that potentially I can even use these files for my universal and the mteor... which means... if you don't like the crap of the SB roms... just buy a WM5 device everywhere U want and put these regkeys !!!
Good job Man !!!
Yes this is great news, I think we might still need the password to use the phone as a modem connected to a notebook.
I think that is exactly what softbank does not want us users using the connection for since we would use the internet more.

actually, i don't think you need to enter the password on the pc side at all to use the phone as a modem. check this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/sho...etooth+set+TyTN+to+be+discoverable#post987712
how about us with new sb rom... i don't see any wireless modem application on my phone... do you have a cab file for the wireless modem app alone?. i can't find it from ftp...
guys,
softbank is blocking the modem usage with a pc and it seems that's controlled at their open ap. i don't believe that's anything to do with the password nor the applications you use. you can fire up dun on your pc with x01ht connected via usb or bt, but the connection will fail.

i think you're probably right but then i wonder what's the point of establishing the new password in the first place if the modem usage isn't an issue for them either way? all of the x01ht's making their way to hk and abroad aren't going to be used on the sb network anyway. the new read-only radio rom takes care of simlocking already so the new passwd solves what? they just don't like the idea of people running around with foreign language roms accessing their network?

i think they don't want people without the flat rate data tariff contract to use the open ap to cap the monthly pay. there are quite a few people in japan who just had the vodafone contract and running universal or hermes bought from elsewhere.
now that i have your registry solution for the new password, i cannot resist testing it on my universal. if it works, i don't have to retire my universal after april 1. thanks again.

great job, trialdei. i have not tried this yet, but i will not have to give up a2dp if this works with the docomo rom!! many thanks!
i'm a newbie on this topic softbank open access.
so what is the main purpose of having this option available for the user.
is it allow the user to have the internet access over the softbank network.
and also if possible, please guide where i can find addititional softbank open access setup instruction, besides the information is already provided by trialdie's original post on this string.
please advice.
found the existing thread on softbank open access (unlock softbank x01ht thread). got the answer from there.
great!
this is great! i was having problems with the new sb rom and asukal's mui... i can't seem to get any network signal or even passthrough connections with that combination..
i'll try this one with the new htc rom from south africa, it may work for me.
great work dude!

hi qtotter,
you need to make sure your registry settings are sticking...did you power off/on. the below new registry keys/entries should show up if you did it right:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Comm\RasBook\SoftBank]
"Entry"
"DevCfg"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\ConnMgr\Providers\{7C4B7A38-5FF7-4bc1-80F6-5DA7870BB1AA}\Connections\SoftBank]
"ConnectionGUID"
"SecureLevel"
"Secure"
"AlwaysOn"
"RequirePw"
"Enabled"
"EntryType"
"DestId"
if you don't see these new keys/entries then your registry changes aren't sticking.

Hi guys so i got a a US cellular ROM and used rstoyguy's blank kitchen from ppc. I took out all the unwanted programs that i dont need and i wanted to edit some registry, the thing is i couldn't find the hv files to edit. the reason for this is when i flash the phone using this ROM i edited and go to SMS/MMS and go to mms options i could get rid of USC in the servers tab. I know how to find it in the registry editor manually but what i want to do is to edit the registry in the actual rom so when i flash it to a phone the server tab in mms is already unlocked and doesn't show me USC. any ideas? or should i use another kitchen ?
In my GSM kitchen, I can inject registry changes in an .RGU file or .PROVXML file.
If your CDMA kitchen contains such files, you could look to inject your registry change that way.
Make sure to use a Text Editor that supports Unicode format as well.
HTH,
So my problem was the text editor. LOL i feel stupid now. thanks a bunch
Phone: Location Setting
Start-Phone-Menu-Options-Services-Location Settings-Get Settings
The location consent form has “US Cellular “ wording throughout the warning.
How do you edit this? I changed a lot of settings already but still no luck?
Why do you want to change that?
im just trying to make a generic rom. Without any trace of any other carrier. When you look at the USC ROM it seems to be one of the cleanest and easiest to modify, easy to understand. Once i finish this, this may help a lot of people who needs it. so please help me pls. Thats the only thing i need to take out. I found the registry in these files mxipupdate_oemoperators_104 and mxipupdate_oemoperators_106 but once i edit it just shows me a black box with scrolls on the side. I coudn't see the original consent like the once found in the registry. Instead it is blocked by another page. help thanks

Umm.. I think you are trying way too hard. Where do i get this page at on the phone?
it looks like this. how do you fix this?
Hi probably not many will take advantage of this app, but it is definitely adding some functionality to WM which normally this system is lacking. Mods please conciser that this topic is not about networking using this program but translating the program (hacking exe file) so in my opinion it should be in this section.
What is it for? PPPoE is an application to connect to wifi network with Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet authentication. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pppoe
There is no other application like that for Windows Mobile, at least I could not find it The only one that exists is made by NTT DOCOMO in Japan and is in Japanese
http://flets.com/spot/pdasetup_download.html
Since I'm not a programmer and I simply cannot create application like that I decided to try to translate it to English with help from online Japanese to English translator and BeeGee_Tokyo who helped me by translating parts where online translation failed THANK YOU!
How to start:
Install PPPoE.cab file on your device, it will create folder inside program files, name of the folder is in Japanese and if you are using wwe version you will see squares, you can safely rename this folder to PPPoE or whatever you want, the same with original exe file (you can delete it if you want). Please put my modified exe inside this folder (it is in PPPoE.zip file). I'm testing this program on my Topaz with WM6.1 TESS 2.2.1 but program might be device and system specific so it might not work on your device at all. You can also change .lnk file inside \windows\start menu\programs to correspond exe file name change.
Things left to do:
- translate last missing bits if possible,
- find a way to create a cab file with embedded translated exe, till now MSCEinf and WinCECabManager are unable to help me with that anyone can help?
- test the program in real life environment PPPoE authentication over wifi (I don't have access to such network at the moment) and on what devices it works.
UPDATE - Probably final translation, corrected some minor mistakes, still I can't find a way to translate one error page and about page but program is fully functional now, have fun.
Translation
I am sure this is not perfect, but it should be good enough to understand the program.
Most of the translation is done by Google I just corrected grammar a little bit and translated Katakana words, where Google usually fails.
Thank you BeeGee I corrected most of the problem I had with online translation thanks to you so program is ready, I will apply some minor changes and upload final version soon.
It doesn't work on my i780 even if i rename it like the japanese one (wich works)
I think it is some kind of problem with certificates or security policies or signing of the program, I'll investigate this and will let you know.

Hi!
I need this program because my adsl "router" (of Telecom Italia) have locked configuration..
I have htc touch pro with original Rom 5.05.408.1 ITA and when I launch your translated program, Windows return a certificate error!
mmmh I have question for you..
Can you create a PDF with screenShot in English and japanese for each window, so we can use the japanese version?
thank you very much!
bye!
Any news? At least, can you post screenshot of yours so we can use the japanese one?
Stuck at PPPoE AC discovery search
Well, I tried this program and ran it successfully. I entered all the necessary info n also changed the MAC as required using mtty. But when i connect it says connecting and gets stuck at PPPoE AC discovery search. I can connect with my notebook without any problem over wifi.
Anyone has any idea about it? anyone successful?

Hi all.
I can't get it to work with my mobile cel. The program works, it connects successfully, but i can't use any browser. The "PPPoE adapter" it's "not connected" and without any IP assigned....
any help? Does this program works for you?
TIA
Buddies, i have tried and connects succesfully but still i cant surf the internet here is what i have done previously on my HTC S620:
1>Installed original cab file
2>Extracted Translated file on SD card
3>Then I edited the registery settings
3.1>Go to HKLEM>>Comm>>NTTPPPoE>>PDAConTool>>SSIDList
3.2>Create a Key Folder Name "Item02"
3.3>Create "DWord" Value Name It As "Spot" And Change The Value to "3"
3.4>Create "String" Value Name It As "SSID" And Change Its Value To Your Current Router "SSID"
4>Now Change The AP Connection Settings In PPPoE Application To Your Router "SSID" Created. (See The Pic Below)
5>These Steps are Neccesary Becoz This Application only allows users to connect only NTT-West And Fletspot Users. If You Change Your Router "SSID"
To "Fletspot" Or "NTT-West" It Will Not Work Becoz If You See Its Registry Settings It Contains "Encryption Mode" And "Encryption Key" Strings Too Which We Donot Know.
6>Finally, It Connects Me Successfully But Still It Cant Find The Way To Surf Net!

Hi I was not looking at this tread for a while, all registry changes are completly unnecessary if program is working. Of course you need to setup new connection with your own network instead of Fletspot or NTT-West. How to do it? Just click menu/new network and that is it, you can add your own network but to do it of course you need to know login and password, that's how PPPoE works, if you don't know it than this program will not help you in any way to create connection.
Ok. So here's the deal:
My SGS3 I9300 exynos phone did the famous IMEI 0049 and SN null trick.
I cannot say what precipitated it but is simply stopped registering on the network, so no calling or data. All other functions operational.
After much searching and reading, I settled on flashing the stock 4.3 back. This succeeded only in doing absolutely nothing to alleviate this issue. I wiped the entire phone. Maybe I missed a critical section wipe, but since the stock ROM overwrites all? the CSC/BL/MODEM functions I thought it would set the default for EFS (which I believe is where these critical data live). I'm not a programmer so I cannot say diddly about the architecture and interrelationship of OS files, but I am technical and I know how SW and HW does what it does.
This phone is my own and I have all the rights to it.
I had loaded RRemix ROM a loong while ago and it was functioning fine. Probably a corruption of the EFS due to battery contact being loose. This is in my mind the most likely cause as the system may be accessing the EFS files, say making a call, or accessing data, and the power drops out and voila! Corruption. But again this is theoretical.
Needless to say I tried the usual hocus-pocus out there with no avail.
Getting to understand the system better it seems obvious that these critical identification numbers are hard-coded into the chips on the phone. Which explains the ability to 'fix' them with JTAG and other cable/box solutions and SW. However, I cannot see how the SW loses the ability to read the IMEI/SN that is hard-coded (fused?) into the main-board.
All my research pointed to the EFS files having something to do with this.
Way back when I loaded the custom ROM I did not come across the 'backup your EFS' as a necessary step, so I had nothing to go back on.
And loading the stock 4.3 ROM back on and not having that fix the issue, led me to believe something else was up.
Somewhere in the guts of this phone something is screwing up the layer between reading the registers where the numbers sit and the software layer that reports the numbers.
So, much searching led to the nv_data.bin file being a key component in all this fiasco.
Now, before I say any more, I believe that describing the next steps could be a big no-no here.
Now, understand, all I want to do is get MY personal device working again. I have the SN and IMEI numbers on the physical device.
Sure, I could have stolen it and am attempting to change these to avoid prosecution. Anyone can say anything online.
Therefore, before I can proceed, I need advice from moderators and VPP to either say 'Yes you may post this info' or 'No. Go away'.
Am I allowed to do the following:
1) Describe how I restored my IMEI (Not changed, overwritten, or subverted to my limited knowledge)
2) In the case of 1 not allowed, post the link to where I found the info to achieve this.
3) Submit the 'fix' to a moderator or developer to check whether this is indeed and restoration or a change.
If it's a restoration of existing functionality, I cannot see how this could be a problem. If its changing something, then it's a whole other sack of ferrets.
My reasons for posting are that xdadevelopers has given me years of joy with my SG devices. (Yes, I have the whole range exclusively) Many ROMS, customs, fixes, hints and saves deserves something back, and the difficulty in achieving this particular fix, warrants it.
But I don't want to break any rules, this being my first post.
So, please let me know what I can do to help others stuck in this position...
You can find it if you have the correct search parameters. Perhaps I can say that instead?
Thanks.
And thanks to all who have helped over the years.

[Edit] Just to clarify, the solution requires no special HW or 'boxes'. You do need root, however, and a hex editor. I had a reply explaining the use of Octoplus, which requires credits and registration. You will need none of those.
I can't speak English but I will try.
1- flash stock firmware.
2- root your device s3 .
3-in the web download " octuplus crack box"
4-in youtube see how install " octuplus crack"
5- before install stop your antivirus PC
6- open octuplus and connecte your phone with PC
7- chose your device i9300 .
8 click repair imie
9 click read info and do what OCTU said to do.
10- click repair or write the true imie in your device ( remove battery to see)and click repair.
11- restart phone .
12- see: call work fine
13- in phone go to mobile network\ access point names\ apn's
14- write your network.

How to restore corrupted or null 0049 IMEI on SGS3.
Right.
Thanks to the moderators for agreeing to let me share the solution. :good:
Thanks to the reddit poster who found this solution. I don't know how the hell you figured this out, but big-ups to you. For privacy I will not mention names or addresses.
You do need a rooted phone and I cannot assist anyone without root as I have not tried it.
Whether this only works to restore a corrupt IMEI or change it, I cannot say, but it managed to restore my existing one.
Preparation: Get your IMEI number from under your battery compartment. Say your IMEI no. is: 123456789101213, write/type it in the following fashion: 1 23 45 67 89 10 12 13
Now some funky transposition: Excluding the first number, transpose the subsequent pairs of numbers so that you have: 1 32 54 76 98 01 21 31. Can you see it? Swap 23 to get 32. 45 to get 54 and so on.
Now add 08 to the beginning and add A after the 1 so that the completed number is: 08 1A 32 54 76 98 01 21 31
Now you will need:
Rooted Galaxy S3 (This may work for all android devices that have an EFS folder. If anyone can confirm that would help others.)
Hex editor (PC based or Android app) - PC is faster and easier. I used hex workshop trial version but I'm sure any editor will do. I used the default install configuration.
USB Data cable (if using PC editor mentioned above)
You should probably back up the EFS folder entirely, just to be sure.
Using your favorite root explorer browse to root/EFS folder and copy the nv_data.bin file to an accessible area in sdcard. I use a /sdcard/Downloads folder.
Either open the file with your hex editor app or transfer the file to PC where you can open it with your hex editor program.
Open the file and jump to address 00550.
Now, get your modified IMEI number from the prep steps above and enter the values in the ASCII TEXT window to the right, NOT the HEX values window to the left. This may be different for other editors but hex workshop works like this.
Double check your address and entered data. When satisfied, save the file and transfer back to the phone if copied to PC.
Now, place the phone in Airplane mode, turning off the cell radios.
Go to the EFS folder and rename the original nv_data.bin file to something else. I used nv_databak.bin.
Copy the modified nv-data file into the EFS folder.
Turn off Airplane mode and do a full reboot.
Your IMEI number should be restored and cellular functions should work.
My previously garbled serial number was also restored.
I hope this works for you. I have no knowledge of any other method as I did not delve further into trying other numbers or such. I can't assist any more other than further clarifying the steps above if you don't understand something.
If anyone can decipher what is going on here, I would love to hear about it. I suspect something between the HW and SW layers is getting garbled or corrupted and this kick starts the process to get the correct data again.
Maybe.
May also contain nuts.
Hastalavista.

THANKS FOR POSTING THIS HERE!
I have this Samsung Galaxy S3 that I bricked 4 years ago and never wanted to sell it or even try to give it away. I searched for months for a frekin solution to this problem. Yesterday night i decided i wanted to try and install custom roms on it and so i wanted to give another shot at this stupid issue i had with the lost IMEI before doing so...and BAM! Today it's fixed!
I'm so thankfull I wanted to post here so that you know that you helped at least one person with this
Thanks a bunch!
@TrinityTrip54
Hi,
can you confirm that this is a permantent solution and remains when flashing new (custom) ROMs? Or is it just for the current installed ROM?
And I am having an issue with "jump to address 00550" in Hex Workshop. There is no address like this, just 540 and the next one is already 558. When inserting 00550 in the goto search field of Hex Workshop it jumps to 210. Any idea?
thanks anyway.
