Hello guys,
Its my first post here, and my first android phone, and already i have a annoying problem.
I have searched these forums and many others but didnt find any similar problem or solution for it so here it is:
I bought Samsung Galaxy S2 15 days ago, from the local mobile service provider with contract. It runs OS Gingerbread 2.3.3 (adjusted to my mobile service provider settings), not rooted, under warranty.
Ive downloaded and installed many apps. Among them some free games from android market - demos, lite, free.
Sometimes, while i play, not often, game freezes. When it does only thing that is lest working is sound, and home button. Than i go to home screen, kill the game via android task manager, and than i see that screen auto rotation isnt working. Its stuck in landscape mode mostly, or portrait, even the auto rotation option is on. If it is in landscape mode, when i uncheck auto rotation then it goes to portrait mode. If i try some other game that supports sensor controls, like driving (accelerometer?).... u know...... when u tilt the phone to turn right or left......... and its not working.
Ive discovered 2 possible temporary solutions for the problem:
1. Turn off and on the phone, and its back to normal;
2. Wait for a 10 min or so, and its back to normal by itself;
I have one year warranty and i took the phone to service where they assumed that it is a software problem and flashed OS (ive recorded the behaviour of the phone with camera and showed to the service guy).
Ive got the phone back after a day with flashed OS. On a fresh instal of OS ive installed just one app, one game that it tends to freeze and cause problem - "Cordy" free trial. After just 20 sec of playing problem occurred again. It happened just that one time in last two days.
Any opinion on this matter is most welcome.
Tnx in advance.
If the phone is stuck then Restarting it is the option, not a temporary one. Now what's causing the freeze? I don't know.
Regards.
Tnx for answering. Im a bit disappointed with lack of answers because it just saying that my problem is not something common and with easy solution.
Im saying that restarting the phone is a temporary solution because i want find one that will prevent the problem for happening at all. Game freeze and accelerometer not working r connected in this case
It happened just now.
After that I checked in the app called sensor test that i instaled ffrom android market, and also that testing menu typing *#0*#.
in both cases it shows that acceleration sensor is not working. It came to normal by itself after 5 min or so.
What do u think? Software or hardware problem?
OK, update.
Its not caused just by the games, it happens even when not using any apps.
Accelerometer, orientation sensor and magnetic field sensor just stop working for a 5-10 min. Dont know whats causing this.
Tommorow is going back to service and im afraid that guys there r clueless.
Anyone have some suggestion pls.
Update on a problem.
My friend bought same phone from same service provider 3 days after i did and he is having exactly same problem.
He didnt had time before to test it but we did it yesterday, and after a hour of so trying to reproduce problem we succeded.
My phone is at service and i called today and the service guy said that the work on my phone is completed, they replaced sensors part (which apparanty comes with touch screen).
Im picking it up tommorow and i will test it and see if the problem is solved. But, im pesimistic.
How likely is that me and my friend have same hardware problem?
Here it is on video. Pls watch it and give any kind of oppinion, im getting desperate.

My X8 is continuously crashing *randomly*. I clocked it a few times and it ran from one hour to four or less than five minutes and restarts. I have FroyoBread on my X8.
Things I already did-
1.I thought it was a virus so uninstalled most apps and removed SD card. Using xRecovery I even deleted cache and local files (includeing data reset).
2.Got rid of FroyoBread and flashed X8 ROM back onto the device. Same problem.
3.Got rid of Memory Card.
4.Reflashed. Installed FroyoBread again. Checked settings. This time, it started crashing once I tried to connect to the Internet.
5.Checked the forums already, people have similar problems, but no solutions.
Note: My phone ISN'T getting stuck at the load screen.
My phone IS ROOTED.
I DID try UNROOTING. The problem still persists.
This IS ALL the info I can provide.
Please help!!!!
try to get back to 2.1 eclair and connect phone to pc companion and then try to renew your system(either upgrade or fixing)
I got exactly the same problem. Here is what I experienced:
For the last 6 month I was running Floyo and Froyobread without any problems.
I changed to GingerDX for 2.3 also without any problems until about two weeks ago.
First I got random reboots when I switched on Mobile Data Connection. This seemed to be somehow connected to low signal strength when switching on Mobile Data Connection. Sometimes it would work without any problems, sometimes it would reboot.
When I got a random reboot, I got stuck a kind of loop. The phone would reboot normaly but as soon as it reestablishes a Data Connection crash again. So the only way to stop it was to shut down Data Connection immediately after boot.
This got gradually worse so I changed to KuyaDROID. To try and fix a posssibly ROM based problem.
But it got even worse. Now the phone would crash every time Radio Signal was established (a couple of seconds after boot), rendering the phone totally useless.
I unrooted, reflashed Stock 2.1 with SEUS, formated SD-card. Rerooted. Now, it's actually more stable than with Custom ROMs but I still get random reboots. In the last 2h my phone rebooted 3 times while I had Mobile Data Connection switched on, however, not instantly but after a couple of minutes. And once while on standby.
I tried to get some kind of error log, but sofar I only found the catlog and was not able to retrieve any information from before a random reboot.
The only other thing I noticed was that the battery level drops massively after each random reboot. Usually between 8-15%.
So I'm guessing either something related to Radio Signal / Data Conenction is broke, or there is a problem with my battery. Only I dont know if battery problems could lead to random reboots.
And just to clarify. With Random Reboots I mean the screen goes black instantly followed by an automatic reboot.
I will unrooted and reflashed Stock 2.1 with SEUS again to see if w/o root/superuser the problem still persists and if yes, try and return my phone.
If anyone got any other suggestions I would be happy to hear them..
Any news about this particular issue? I've seen many X8 "random reboots" posts and threads, but this one describes my particular problem pretty accurately. It only happens on low signal strength when the Mobile Data Connection is running.
I'm on stock kernel and this happened with the Stock ROM, FroyoBread, GingerDX and now FroyoPro. I've been hesitant to use a custom kernel since I've also read about complains of "random reboots" on custom kernels.
As stated above the reboots are random and if they happen it's only on a low signal mobile data connection. Any hints? TIA!
Same Problem..!
Same case with me...
+Random Reboot when enabeling data connection especially 2G connection (automaticly swiched when signal strength is LOW) But not on STANDBY:
when browsing pages full of pic's , downloading pic's or browsing normaly and listning to music at the same time. The phenomenon is more frequent
I deduced that it was a RAM overload as if it has no RAM space to run normaly..
And so, before browsing using data connection on 2G Mode I try to to free the most possible the RAM, and there the problem is less frequent but still exist.
On data connection 3G mod (HSDPA) Problem is less frequent alsow.
When I bot the phone it has Eclair the problem started after 2 mounths from its first START, later on I installed tow versions of Gingerbred, on the first, the problem got wors and the second was as good as Eclair but I didn't like it (However it is so so so stabel),so I am back to the Stock one !
The problem is Stabeled but not fixed.
So, COSTUME ROM isn't the cause but they are more or less involved
My experience:
+Choose a Stabel ROM (point of veiw Data Con.) I choosed Eclair but there is some good COSTUME ROM's
+Free the most possible RAM space before starting 2G/3G data Con.
+Use needed WEB app('s) only to lower the load on the RAM and the Connection
+Try to avoid 2G (EDGE or GPRS) or low Signal on 3G(HSDPA) Connections espacialy pic's and videos..
SOLVED!!!
I had the same random reboots in my x8, even using different ROMS, even different kernels. :S
Take a look at THIS THREAD to solve this issue
NOTE: some CUSTOM KERNELS may cause reboots/crashing.
Thanks mate, it works.:good:
I have posted this on the Sony Xperia P forums but I have yet to to get a response. As this is a pressing issue, I have to return the phone to the store by tomorrow at the latest or not at all, I post it here aswell.
I just bought my Xperia P last week. Since I've been having connection issues. It started, as far as I can tell in such a short period of use with the wifi connection. When I would go out of range of my home wifi it would freeze, only fix was to reboot the phone. It would not switch over to mobile data at that point either so I had no connection at all untill I rebooted. I've since been trying to figure out why the wifi froze. I've reinstalled the latest phone update through PC Companion and I've factory resetted the phone on the device itself.
My wifi issues appear to be fixed after this however, and equally annoying, now my mobile data won't work. I see the H appearing next to the reception bars and arrows up and down appear next to it but no web page will load, facebook or mail don't work either. I've been trying going in airplane mode, just toggeling the data connection, rebooting the device, nothing works consistently. Sometimes mobile data will work, but more often it wil not.
I have contacted the store and they are willing to exchange the phone. However, I wanted to check here first to see if this is a common problem, if its a software issue, a new phone won't help much. If it is a software issue, is there anything I can do to fix it myself?
The phone came with ICS preinstalled.
First of all I know it's a crap phone.
It is not my wifi that is the problem, it happens on all wifi networks.
I didn't drop the phone or anything like that.
I am running stock Android 6.0 (no root)
I previously used a hack from this website that involved putting code through MinimalADB to mount an sd card as the main storage as this phone doesn't support apps on sd card (Did after that hack!).
On my phone randomly when I am using my wifi the wifi stops working randomly. There is no warning and no sign except only the left arrow beside the wifi bars lights up (the bars are still full). Nothing at all will load. The only solution I have found to this problem is restarting my phone. As this happens usually after 10/15 minutes of using the phone it is beyond irritating. The Bluetooth also goes and even though it says I am still connected to my headphones no sound will transmit. Mobile data still works.
If anyone can help it will be super helpful.
My Redmi Note 9 Pro keeps restarting randomly (mostly when i use the camera). It just straight freezes and restart itself. Recently it only happens when opening the camera, but now it also happens when i playing games (CoC/CoD). Anyone who shares the same problem?
My Note 9 Pro EU starts to reboot after the recent EU update. But I saw this issue only when the GPS is on and phone working as navigation. Sometimes it can reboot after 30 min, and sometimes after 2 min, time to reboot after turn on navigation is random :/. I thought that is software bug so I unlock bootloader and flash newest xiaomi.eu but it didn't help :/
Have you tested your GPS on the test menu?
You can enter it with few clicks on KERNEL VERSION at "My device" in the settings ?
Unfortunately it's seems that GPS is OK with that test. I even revert to EU 11.0.1 and problem with GPS still appear. So it must by something with my unit :/
Tried turning off the option "Use assisted GPS" ?
if you check on here: https://c.mi.com/oc/miuidownload/detail?device=1900378 that recent update for 11.0.4 was pulled due to issues.
thats why i always delay updating the phone when a new update comes out. give it atleast a week or 2 to see if its safe. in this case it got pulled in a day.

Same problem here.
This error occured with all these official version
11.0.2
11.0.3
11.0.4
this is frustrating me.
any hel?
Same problem with 11.0.1 and 11.0.3 reboots while using GPS incl getting hot (maybe thats the point for the reboots) and also while using WLAN with network certificate...
Need help too. All GPS related options are disabled, any further ideas using advanced options?
Is this related to WiFi issue?
Last time i was trying one thing. I turn off access for many apps to GPS (system apps etc.) and run navigation for whole night with plugged charger and screen set to 100% brightness. And for my surprise phone did not restart! For test time my Redmi Note 9 Pro was running on Xiaomi.eu 11.0.4.
So maybe it's software bug? Because earlier my phone was restarting even when screen was off with navigation running. So for me it's not heating issue.
I'm having the same issue. In my case the phone will freeze/reboot instantly if a foreground app, such as maps or the camera, accesses the location, and will occasionally reboot itself while sleeping if location is enabled. Wiping the phone seems to correct it for a little while but the problem always returns.
So far I've tried stock roms 11.0.2 and 11.0.4, and Xiaomi.eu 11.0.4 and all have been affected.
I'm going to have to install a custom rom such as the GSI AOSP one and see if that fixes it. If the reboots still happen on a rom not based on stock, I'll have to return the phone. A phone without GPS isn't of much use to me.
I use AOSP + gapps and don't have reboot issues.
Well I had no issues on 11.04 EU, while using GPS but if connected to a known WiFi it reboots sometimes. While further investigate the GPS ...

My Redmi Note 9 Pro with MIUI 11.0.4.0 stable Global reboots itself every now and then! When I am on Chrome it freezes and restarts!
I just got a redmini Pro 9 note some weeks ago it's been hell. It keeps saying "device shuts down unexpectedly" go off and comes on cannot do anything meaningful because it happens so frequently. I have rebooted, fast rebooted million times. I really regret buying this useless phone
On mine, After flash custom rom, give the same problem
Anyone solved this reboot issue? How?
My brand new note 9 pro (global version) randomly reboots with no apparent reason. It may happen while sleeping or while in use. It happens once every day, more or less.
No news? Have you asked for a replacement or was it a software issue? Please help, mine reboots once a day on average and I have to decide if returning it (bought through Amazon)
