A frustrating problem has developed on my TouchPro 2 running WM 6.5.
I have several email accounts, most of which are using IMAP. They have been working as expected over the past year. A few weeks ago the account that I was syncing through Active Sync has become a Microsoft Exchange account. That is working well. But, with my remaining IMAP accounts the folders are not syncing as they were before. I receive new emails, but if I delete messages or move them other folders, etc. none of the changes take place on the server when I check on a desktop.
My initial theory is that the new Exchange account might have changed something. I tried deleting one of the IMAP accounts and added it again, but still with no success.
Anyone have ideas as to why this is happening, and what I can do?
Thanks.

Has anyone else using an exchange server found that after a couple of weeks the calender stops syncing both ways but has no trace of errors.
I have been using the default email app to create an exchange account which I have it sync for calenders. The calender auto syncs as soon as I have created a new calender entry or will sync a calender entry made from my laptop when the account is asked to sync again. So both ways work fine.
But I have found that after a couple of weeks the calender sync just stops syncing to the server or from the server. But there is no error in the sync menu so unsure what's going wrong. There is no problem with the exchange server as my laptop never experiences this nor does anyone else at work.
Keep in mind everything was great and no settings have changed to cause this to happen. This has happened twice now, maybe even three times.
This last time I found I accepted a meeting request with touchdown (great email app for exchange by the way) and the email was sent out that I accepted the email and the exchange server was updated as my laptop gained the entry, but it never showed up in my calender entry on my phone.
The way to fix it is to delete the exchange account from the phone and create it again for it to all work properly again.
I will try and get another meeting request to be sent to my phone where I accept it to find out whether this caused the problem... but I have my doubts.
I have a situation where I have to setup my phone to sync with 2 exchange accounts that both use the same email address and same user name but different internal domain.
When I set up the first account it all looks good operates as expected, when I setup the second account it seems to merge the 2 active sync accounts into 1 as there is still only one 1 account listed on the phone but I do get syncing from both sites which is what I want for email at least.
The problem is syncing contacts and calendar events. The phone syncs with both accounts at different times and contacts appear and disappear all the time. Because the 2 accounts appear as 1 I cannot separate out the settings to stop syncing with 1 of the accounts for contacts and calendar events and leave 1 as the main sync account. When entering contacts you never know which exchange server the info will end up on.
How can I separate out these accounts? Why is android treating them as the one sync account?

What you can do is create one account with Microsoft Active Exchange and the other by Exchange. I have the same account configured by these 2 works individually one for default Email app and another for Enhanced Email App. I had to do this cause of some issues with activesync with MS Exchange Server 2010 which my company runs. Do try it out and tell me what happened

When you click on add account in settings-> accounts and sync there is am option for both exchange and active exchange. Exchange is the native settings from froyo times active exchange is the one introduced in ginger bread. Both use delegate drivers and are hence independent of each other. You can configure the same account via both these settings and it works fine.

I would like to trial this with the emulator I have setup. It is running Android 2.3.3 but I seem to only have the active sync option.
Any way to emulate this before putting into production?

You could use a mailing app which uses Exchange drivers. Enhanced Email is one that i know of and am using.
IMAP?
You could also set up the second exchange account as only an IMAP connection, only syncing mail, not contacts, calendar or tasks. Use primary account for that.

I am new to Android and coming from a Blackberry. How can I sync the emails in outlook with my new phone? I don't have an exchange server and I would prefer to do it with the mail app that came with the phone. I would like the emails to delete from outlook when I delete them on the phone and show as read when I read them on the phone and vice versa. I would prefer not to have the emails and information sent into the "cloud" also if that is possible, but if it is the only way so be it.
I know that I can have the two different email addresses sent to my phone through the included mail app by setting them up separately, but would the emails show as read, deleted, etc in outlook if I did that?
If it makes a difference I have two email addresses that feed into outlook. One of them is pop and one is imap. The phone is an HTC Amaze.
Could I just convert my pop email to imap and set up the two email addresses separately on my phone? Wouldn't that make it so when I delete email from outlook or the phone, it will be deleted on the other?
The problem with this is my isp does not offer imap so I will have to use google email to sync with it and make it imap.
If I do this I will have to add the gmail account to outlook and my phone, but wouldn't I have to delete the pop account from outlook and the phone in order to avoid duplicate emails showing up? I think this might happen because right now if I check the pop account without using outlook the emails show up that were received after I last opened outlook. The issue with deleting the pop account from outlook and phone is I still want to be able to send emails from that address.
Anyone else having problems getting the native HTC email to sync correctly? I have an Exchange account and 3 IMAP accounts and the IMAP accounts will not sync on a regular basis. I loaded up Enhanced Email and it works fine.
I checked as many setting as I could and all appears to be set correctly: wireless networks all set to never sleep, background data and auto-sync both checked
I can keep using Enhanced Email but it's aggravating that I can't get the HTC app to work correctly.
Anyone have any ideas?
I figured it out. When I first got the phone and went through the setup I got a 504 gateway error. I also got there 504 gateway error when initially trying to set up my email accounts. Called customer service and they said to skip out of the setup and do everything manually. She said there was a glitch in the software and that the Gmail and Yahoo account setups didn't work and that all accounts needed to be set up through the IMAP process. Needless to say this is what was causing my problem.
To correct the email sync issue I deleted all of my accounts and set them up through the Gmail and Yahoo account set up process and all appears to be working now.
I am having the same problem so I just tried this option of setting up my yahoo accounts through the set up process. It does appear to receive email much faster but there are some downsides.
My Yahoo inbox (on the website) and the inbox on my Rezound are not completely synced now. The app has the option of downloading up to 30 days of email. Mail older than 30 days doesn't show up on the phone even if it's in your inbox on the website. Conversely, email that I deleted or moved from my inbox some time ago has now magically reappeared on my phone.
Another problem is that my mail folders that I set up on the website do not appear on the Rezound mail app anymore.
Seems the negatives are too numerous to have better syncing. I'm switching back to the manual setup as all the problems I mentioned above are not there and I'll just put up with poor syncing for now.
I have two Gmail accounts and when adding them to Outlook on my tablet, one syncs just fine (i.e. i can see all my emails), but the other doesn't sync at all. No emails show up in any folder. I tried removing both and just adding the one, but that didn't work either. However, i can see my google calendar though. Any suggestions? I tried comparing the settings on both accounts in gmail and everything is identical.
I would just use Gmail and not let it into or use Outlook.
If there are any vulnerabilities that can be exploited, Outlook is like a divining rod for finding them.
Keeping email in the cloud, and download only when absolutely necessary will save you a lot of grief.
Otherwise go to Event Viewer and see if there are any error messages associated with Outlook.
An email protocol is likely misconfigured.
