basically ive just rooted my galaxy S 2 but after trying to flash recovery via rom manager you recieve errors,
now ive done some reading and it seems that i need a kernel with CWR in it however rom manger will then not work.
i think the issue is with the android recover not accepting install packages that are not signed or something im not 100% sure.
so simply my question is this, is there a way to keep stock kernel and flash clockwork via rom manger on the SGS2 ?, or can you overwrite the current stock recovery via adb with clockwork ?
new to samsung so i dont really want to do something and risk a brick so i thought id ask first
Yet another .
Rom Manager does not work on SGS 2 End .
jje
I rooted my o1 using superoneclick and downloaded rom manager and flashed clockwork recovery through it..
The combo for recovery didnt worked so i rebooted into recovery from rom manager but instead of rebooting into recovery it got stuck at
fastboot mode started
udc()
However i got my cell back to life with the help of this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1015332
Now i don't know whether my o1 has a valid recovery image coz i need to flash the latest francos kernel
So plz help on how to flash recovery through terminal emulator
And is there anything important to consider while flashing recovery or francos kernel
I had a Optimus One earlier and the way it worked there was flash CWM through ROM manager and no matter what kernel you use CWM would stick.
I wanted to know why in SGSII kernel comes with CWM inside it and does not work
standalone like it works in many other devices.I tried searching for answers but could not.
Thanks.
You can't flash cwm through rom manager because the stock kernel won't allow non-signed zip's, so signature verification has to be disabled in the kernel, i guess the dev's then figure what the hell lets throw cwm into the kernel while we're making a kernel.
Hope you can help me. I rooted my friends phone via odin. When i was about to flash a rom via cwm recovery mode - its opening to a "manual mode", im unable to flash the rom. Hope you can help me with this. Thank You
which rom are you trying to flash via cwm?
did you copy the rom to your internal sd card so that cwm can see it.
Is ROM Manager fully functional on this phone now? Just wondered if all of the options: CWM, Updates, Fix permissions, etc. are all working for folks - with no issues. Will it update to CWM Touch?
Thanks for any input.
im running touch flawless but i cant seem to download and go straight to recovery i have to manual but cwm is working fine
I posted a lengthy question earlier on this....for me, ROM Manager 6.0.1.5 (non touch) insatalls and seems to work fine, however when I try to do a backup of my current ROM it does not fully do it.
Uninstalling ROM Manager and flashing via fastboot the posted CWM recovery, I was able to do a successful Nandroid.
Just sucks not being able to use ROM Manager to backup your current ROM...for me at least.
At the Rom Manager Website I see both versions for the DNA:
http://www.clockworkmod.com/rommanager
It says the version number (for both) should be 6.0.1.5. Currently running 6.0.1.2 on my phone.
But on my phone, if I click on Flash ClockworkMod Recovery, it says Unsupported Device. Hmmmmm
Any update on this?
Is ROM Manager now supporting the DNA?

Don't let it auto reboot after the recovery flashes. Either uncheck auto reboot or just hit the combo for recovery when the phone reboots. Many newer Samsung phones have a script that reinstalls the original recovery if it realizes that you have changed it. You have to install another rom or root it and remove the script and reflash the recovery and it'll stick if you just want stock rooted.

6310 + 6312 use the same recovery.
yeah....but i tried that rooting method and it didn't work....
maybe i can flash a new rom from ADB but i can't pass the signature verification
any ideas ?
Well I can tell from your pictures that you didn't follow the suggestion of trying SuperSU, but that might not help anyway. That Framaroot version is an older one. Get the updated version from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/framaroot/root-framaroot-one-click-apk-to-root-t2130276 and use SuperSU instead of Superuser. Sometimes you have to run it a couple times before it'll go through. Reboot in between tries. Here are better instructions for the rest of the process:

man ...didn;t work... ... tried at least 5 times .....
or....i can flash a rom from ADB but i can't pass the signature verification....
a have an ideea ....maybe i can flash via odin a rom whit a custom recovery ...from there i can flash an old backup of mine .....it's good to proceed right that ?
