App to backup homescreen on root phones? - Vibrant Themes and Apps

Anyone know of an app that backs up the homescreen and works with custom ROM's? I have MybackupPro and it usually works w/ stock but not with certain ROM's ..namely Nero for the Vibrant.

SGS Tools for homescreens and titanium backup for apps and data. I gave up on my backup pro long ago... I just used titanium tonight when I switched from nero v1 to v2.

Thanks. But what's wrong with mybackuppro? It's pretty quick with no issues. Why choose titanium over that exactly?
Also, SGS tools says it only works with touchwiz so its not working... Nero uses the 2.3 launcher.

I'm interested in how this works with titanium. I have the pay version, but can't see an option for backing up the homescreens. Or is it that you just backup the launcher + data?

Personally I've noticed that when I do restores using mybackup pro I get some data corruption which causes lagginess. With titanium I get no such lag. However I still use mybackup pro for sms, mms and such.
But I didn't know that sgs tools could backup home screens. Pretty cool.

How can I save app data through updating ROMs?

I want to have all my apps data ( like game saves, login info etc) saved when I flash a ROM update. It's a huge pain to manually re-setup EVERYTHING. Apps and contacts come back which is awesome but all the apps and settings are all back to square one..

I'm sure you could use root explorer to save the configuration files for these apps and reload them later with root explorer as well... but... you might create glitches or issues with the new rom... (aka it will end up being slow or have FC s)

Just so u know there is a FREE version of titanium backup on the Android market...
Sent from my FroyoEris using XDA App
You don't have to pay for titanium backup (though in my opinion you should support Android developers). The free version does it too (unless something has changed since I last used the free version). You just can't do it in a batch which is much easier.

I've never had issues backing up or restoring apps with Titanium free or paid version. Are you using other apps while it's creating the backup? Personally, I don't do scheduled backups. I only backup just before flashing a new rom so that I know everything is current.

well with the free version you cant do a batch backup, so i ran a scheduled backup from the schedule screen. i reinstalled the app, and it seemed to run fine. thanks for the response though, much appreciated.

Yes you can. You can do batch back ups and batch restores. The only differences I've noticed between the free and paid versions are:
Free - Only schedule one back up at a time. When running a batch restore, it stops on every app and you must approve to restore them. Special services disabled
Paid - Schedule unlimited backups. Restoring a batch does not require approving each app. Special features, such as Market Doctor, are enabled.
Sent from my Floyo Tazz using XDA App
^ Bro - If you have to click on every app to restore, one by one... that isn't really "batch" mode, by definition
Get the paid version, well worth it, and nice to support the dev of such a well made and valuable app.
I wouldnt be caught flashing/changing roms without it !
For ppl that have trouble with Titanium Backup, try My Backup Pro. It sometimes works when TTB will not.
It's still a batch restore selection. And it restores app data as well. Only it prompts you on every app and asks if you'd like to install it.But yes, I agree, the paid version is a must.

on the pro version there is a new feature to backup apps to a flashable zip file, which should make the whole restore process super fast. You can just flash a new rom then flash your apps with data back and not have to do manual restoring.
I haven't tried it yet though.

[Q] Anyway to uninstall dell stock apps

I updated using the qdl tool, then updated to 318. Is there anyway to uninstall some of the stock apps I'll never use ?
Install titanium backup and you can uninstall and delete just about anything you want with it

to couple with that.......is there any risk? For instance I use Handcent for the my text client, and everytime I get a text I get both apps open and it's just a PITA.

I like using Titanium Backup to freeze apps that I want to get rid of, this allows you to see what effect that the absence of the app will have on your phone and if you want to restore the app for some reason you can just 'defrost' the app.
Some apps provide services for other apps, this is a good way to test that you don't delete something you need.

[Q] about data/user apps

If I switch to a new ROM wipe my cache/data yaadaa yaadaa, then when I'mon the new ROM can I go back into CWM and go into advanced restore can I restore just my data will I get back all my apps and data and everything will be good? As long as my backup and new ROM are both EB01?

For just restoring Apps and the data when switching between roms, I recommend.....no, HIGHLY recommend Titanium Backup. Not only does this app backup apps and the data of the apps, it also backups the market cache, so on the market, the app would list as being installed. It's incredibly useful. It also allows you to uninstall system apps by the way.
I know that and that's not what I'm getting at, I don't want to get titainium backup pro and the regular titainium backup takes forever to restore because u have to hit install for every app and its very tidious sooooo, I came to the conclusion since its in my backup files why can't I just restore it from there because its just one click and no hassle... but I want to know if that works.
P.S. I have titainium... and mybackup root too...

It may have apps that are specific to the previous ROM. I've done it and it can work but if its a differnt ROM it can cause problems. try it and see.
Personally I'd save up the 6 bucks and buy Tibkup if you are going to flash ROMS Titanium Backup is going to be one (if not the one) most used application you will use. If you can't part with the 6 bucks get MyBackup Root I don't think it prompts you for restores but I could be wrong (I haven't' used it since I bought TB)

It doesn't always work. Titanium Pro is worth it if you're going to be flashing multiple ROMs. The time saved will equal much more than $6.

did i miss something? Batch Restore your app people....in the full licensed version, pay the money...it deserves it...phenominal app....only must have app i have come across since I've owned my original Droid....worked even when I switched to the Inc, and copied the backup folder over...(Apps+Data only, obviously no system stuff)
is that what you're getting at on post#3...pay the money and forget about worrying...I always wipe everything between roms, even updates to the one i'm running...then TiBU after flashing new rom...takes a couple minutes and I'm back up and running...even with Go Launcher, homescreens are backed up minus widgets
This post has nothing to do with TiBU at all, and its not the purpose, I just want to know if I can take the data from a backup and install it with my new rom?

Which would be to BUY titanium Backup Pro or MyBackup Root
Other than that you can take a chance and restore /data or if your on 2.2 or higher let Google restore all your apps from the cloud but a lot of ROMs don't seem to auto restore.

Is there an alternative for Titanium Backup??

Hi all,
Ever since I switched to ICS i've been having trouble restoring my app+game data !! I'm extremely annoyed having to download my game data everytime I flash a ROM.
So my question is, is there any other app I could use instead of Titanium Backup??
Thank You.
MyBackup. Free version is valid for a month, Pro version is cheap - can't remember how much.
SystemApp Remover has a backup function, but I've never used it for that.
Both on play store.

Yes, ICS supported.
Go have released GoBackup now, i haven't used it yet though so cant comment.
Not many people know this but ES File Explorer has a back up functionality. If you've got that its always worth a try.
In ES Explorer, click on AppMgr on the toolbar, Select your apps and hit back up.
(that aside its an awesome app)
My backup root. For rooted phones only. Free from store.

I've never had that problem on ICS. TB works 100% for me!
Try changing the settings so it restores it to internal (phone) memory instead of auto or external sd card.

No problems with TB here
I'm running now on ICS 4.0.3 and using TB for back up. I don't have any problems with it. When you go and restore some games it would need to download again some files but the important thing is that, would it resume your game the last time you played it or will it come back to the beginning of the game? Meaning you go back to start? Because I did not experience it.
you can use system tuner pro fro backup/restore apps and data. its a paid version though, but you will get all the goodies required for tweaking with this app.

What is a good back up app besides TiBu?

I just need something that does batch back ups, and relatively fast.

You can't use TiBu to backup CM7/Blur apps and restore them to CM9.

So I can't restore any of my apps to CM9 in any way?
From my understanding, apps can be backed up and restored with no issues. They are just apps you will be downloading again from the Play Store anyway. Your system apps though, dont try. Use titanium backup to backup your USER apps and their data and thats it. No system data or system apps or anything else. When you get CM9 installed, they should restore with no problem.

I'm on cm9 now. I don't remember if I restored from TiBu after switching or not. But the worst that will happen is it will give you and error or it will install but not open. But I really don't think you will have problems. Just don't mess with the system settings and system apps.
If you're worried about losing something, just do a nandroid backup of your ROM before doing anything. Then if something goes wrong, restore the nandroid.
I haven't had a single error restoring apps in cm9 using TiBu. I never restore system stuff anyway but I can see where it would cause problems with the different framework.
Is everyone on CM9 for the X2 liking it so far? I was CM9 for the X but my X crapped out on me and Verizon is sending me a X2 as replacement. I understand the cam corder still isn't working but has anyone tried using LG Camera for the cam corder? It worked for me on the X with CM9.

I have used App Backup and Restore before but found that in flashing ROMs it is best to just re-install via Google or nandroid back.
