[Q] Mapping key on x10 mini

I have a question for you all .
Is possible to use the back button to end a call?
I know that's possible to map the standby/reboot key to end call but i have a silicon cover who is covering that key and i don't use it very much because i have to press hard on it.
Will be very usefull to have the back button who ends my calls!!!
Excuse for my poor english.
Regards ,Rollbar.
i need that too!

No. Only the upper (power) button.
I think that can be a possible thing, since there's some of keyboard mapping around, but its not a simple thing to do...
I can't end calls with the top power button. how can I do this? thanks
Lol guys there is a simple way too set the back key to end call
1.Open root manager and open the file /system/usr/keylayout/mimmi_keypad.kl in text editor
2. Change key 158 BACK WAKE_DROPPED TO key 158 BACK ENDCALL WAKE_DROPPED
3. Save the changes and thats all.....report if u get any error ;-)
Sent from my X10minipro using XDA Premium App
Wait!! Dont try the above method, it works but after reboot gives problems....dont know why?
Will find a workaround soon.
Edit: After system restore from xrecovery all issues are fixed......and back key does ends calls!...was it error on my device?..Can someone please try the same on their devices and post the result. 0

So finally I have figured a simple process to map the back key to end call. You will need xrecovery to be installed(that means u need root as well)
Follow the procedure in post 6 and call urself from any other number....use the back key to end call.
Now restart you phone and let it boot normally......at this boot all keys will stop working......now boot into xrecovery and flash the keyboard u need from the link below
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=982341
....reboot
There would be no need to restore as keys would respond normally with back key set up to end calls....but I would however have a backup handy.
Worked fine on my x10 mini pro running cmv3.6. -

it doesn't work! None of the keys on my phone work now.
the link you provided does not have USA keyboard layout.
can someone please help me out. thanks!
what is cmv3.6? I can't seem to find anything on that in google.

Is that supposed to be an april fool joke......I suppose americans have a qwerty keybord..and there are qwerty keyboards......under the link.....otherwise just restore a previous backup.

No not a joke.
this is what I did.
There is a tab between endcall and power.
key 158 BACK WAKE_DROPPED
key 102 HOME WAKE
key 139 MENU WAKE_DROPPED
key 115 VOLUME_UP WAKE
key 114 VOLUME_DOWN WAKE
key 107 ENDCALL POWER WAKE_DROPPED
key 85 FOCUS
key 212 CAMERA WAKE
I put it on my phone reboot. and the power button does nothing.
and restore to the xrecovery before the mod and the button works again. but it does not endcall.
the link doesn't show Qwerty US, which one is US?
I see, •QWERTY-EN | PT (ENGLISH) (Brazilian/Portuguese, is that the same?
I am also using stock rom btw.
any help would be great.

See I had this workaround working for me on cm6 and it worked really fine now I have ditched my mini pro so I really can't help you much and I am not sure if it will work on stock rom so I am sorry if this caused you any problem.
Btw all the stuff I posted was to set back key to endcall..I dunno have any idea what it does with power key....seriously whatever was written it worked genuinely for me and I can't really help why it doesn't work for you....just asssume that method to be a sham and ignore it.

[Q] Disabled Capacitive Keys - all but Home

I started this in another thread but I thought I'd drop it here in case anyone else wants to work on it as well. I didn't see another active thread so please flame if this isn't in the right place.
Being on tablet mode full time I wanted to disable the capacitive keys. They're not in the way or totally useless, I simply wanted to see if it could be done.
I've managed to disable Menu, Search and Back on mine with an older Honeycomb trick I used on the Galaxy Tab. I just now started monkeying with this on the Note and I've yet to disable the Home button without also disabling waking with power button.
Root Browse your way to "system/usr/keylayout/Generic.kl
Place a # before the following lines (commenting them), save then reboot:
key 139 MENU
key 158 BACK
key 217 SEARCH
I've tried changing key 102 and key 172 to disable the Home key to no avail. Commenting 102 seems to have no effect and commenting out 172 disables waking with the power button.
I'm no developer but it seems to me that the Home key and the power button are somehow linked. Maybe someone that has a firmer grasp of what they're doing within the OS can give some insight?
Hey thanks again for this find.... Just a quick question.
Does this method work with any ICS ROM? Also I'm just curious which ROM you are using and want to hear your recommendation.
Thanks again

I haven't tried it on a GB ROM but I see no reason it wouldn't work there or on any ICS build. From what little knowledge I have of how this works I can't see why the key bindings would be any different from ROM to ROM, as long as it's for the Note. For all I know the same lines of code could be the same on any number of Samsung devices.
I'm currently on DAGr8s The Hybrid_RCIV and enjoying it very much. Aside from having to pop my SD card whenever I install an app it's the bee's knees.

Search Key Function

Is there any possible way to change the search key function to be the power instead of search. I am on cm9dx2 and I tried the button remapper APK and it didn't work it would reboot every time I hit apply with no results.
Sent from my MB870 using xda premium
You can change it by modifying the file tegra-kbc.kl located in /system/usr/keylayout. I forget what to change. Let me get back to you on that.
EDIT: Ok, change the line that says
key 217 SEARCH WAKE_DROPPED
to
key 217 POWER WAKE
Then reboot for it to take effect.
Thanks alot. Worked great

[Q] Remap Search Button to Recent Apps (ICS)

I'm wondering if it's possible to remap the capacitive Search button to open up the ICS Recent Apps menu instead, exactly like described in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=21501238
I'm on stock OTA 4.0.4 rooted, but I'm not sure if a custom rom has this functionality or I have to try to make it myself (no idea how!). There seem to be mods but are for other devices.
Currently if I modify the cy8c201xx.kl in /keylayout (i.e. change SEARCH to APP_SWITCH) it just opens up the old gingerbread app switcher.
Hmm.. This shouldn't be too hard to do.. I'll have a few friends of mine take a look into it with me, and come back with what I find They're long-time Android Hackers
EDIT: Talking with my friends, will be working on trying to get this to work Can't promise anything, but I'll sure try to get it working! lol.. It would be something that I want too

Hi, I found this on another Droid Forum:
You just need to edit the corresponding key mapping file in /system/usr/keylayout/ to make the changes you want. On my Razr Maxx the file that controls the 4 capacitive buttons is named cy8c201xx.kl. To swap the key functions you just change the word next to the key number: i.e. replace SEARCH with MENU and vice versa. Make sure to backup your original just in case.
You can set it to any function that is defined (POWER, AUTO_ROTATION, VOLUME_UP, etc.) you just need to know the proper name. I have read that recent apps may be APP_SWITCH but I have not tested it myself. I do not know how to create a new function if it is not already defined.
Hope it helps.

Works Great on my XT912. I can now lock my screen by short pressing the cap search
I know that on phones that you have to use the power button to lock/unlock it is usally the first button to fail.
Now I need to figure out how to wake using a cap button.

Code:
key 158 BACK WAKE_DROPPED VIRTUAL
key 139 MENU WAKE_DROPPED VIRTUAL
key 217 SEARCH WAKE_DROPPED VIRTUAL
key 102 HOME WAKE VIRTUAL
Here's what I changed
