Does anyone know where I can find the stock JL15 kernel that I can odin or flash that already has root/recovery? I know where to get the stock flash but other changes have to be made for it to work with root/recovery. What I want to do is have nero3 with just the stock kernel, not supercurio's voodoo kernel, without causing any issues.

There isn't a JL15....
I can upload JL5 for you though
I don't have time to make it flashable, so here it is an a zip
Hey, Master. Long time no see, and happy to see you as well. Hope you had a good Christmas. Thanks a lot for the response, and best wishes.

I'm not sure if you can install it with the stock recovery because I use the ClockworkMod. You should just get Rom Manager from the market and flash it. It's simple. For Ext2 you can use it on a stock kernel fine with OCLF in the market. For Voodoo (Ext4) you need to flash a kernel that comes with it on a Rom that supports it. Like Bionix.

Whoops. Learn something new everyday. It didn't work for me on stock JI6 though, so I figured you needed a compatible ROM.

Eh, Weird.. Worked for me
To run bionix fusion 1.1 do I install bionix rom and the fusion 1.1 kernel? Or is the kernel part of the rom? Or is the kernel the samerthing as the rom?

If you downloaded it from the team whiskey website, it should come with the kernel designated by the name of the file (Stock, JAC, or KK). If that's the case, you don't have to flash a kernel separately.
All Bionix roms come in kernal flavors....they are built into the roms themselves.
Pick the version you want--BE CAREFUL OF VOODOO--for future flashes you will need to disable it. Don't forget or you will be in a world of hurt to fix it.

I have been told that yes, the nandroid backup will backup the kernel as well. My wife's vibrant has the hardware lock fix and it didn't overwrite it when I flashed Bionix 1.9.1 so I would assume you won't lose the fix either, just try to get into recovery or download mode via hardware after the flash to see if it stuck.
Please find below a kernel based on the EB01 leak, packaged up with voodoo
This kernel only includes the Voodoo ext4 lagfix, as without source code, Voodoo sound and color fixes are not possible. Full credit to Supercurio for the Voodoo lagfix code, as well as the scripts I used to package it all into this kernel.
The kernel is also modified to support external bootanimations, ie: /system/media/bootanimation.zip.
The package will also flash a modified recovery, which can be used with both Voodoo and non-Voodoo installations.
Enjoy

Voodoo sound won't be possible until Samsung releases the source code.
Thanks so much! Can't wait for the next instalment.
Is the confirmation voice working? Can we disable in recovery or do we have to create the file?

Is this kernel different/newer than the voodoo kernel packaged with SC2.1vd?
this regular or undervolted. If not undervolted is it possible for a future release.

Custom kernels aren't possible until they release the source code.

Not sure but it works for me...
the other day i DL and flashed CM7 trigger redux. i love everything about it except the stock kernal. when i first flashed the rom everything i flashed after that would take away my baseband and my signal completely, rendering my phone useless unless i connected to a wifi. i then managed to get a kb5 modem for cm7.1, which worked just fine. however i still cannot get a kernal on my phone. i took the cm7 kernals for 2.3.4, including platypus and the nightlys [they are all located in the bible]
im guessing since the 7.1 modem flashed just fine, i need to find a kernal for cm7.1?
are there any in circulation atm? or would the cm website be the best place for these kernals?
i apologize for the noob questions, but i am new to 2.3

what kernel are you flashing?
look for an updated version of the kernel.
If there is not one, don't flash the kernel.

I'm on version 2.3.4 I figured I could flash a kernel updated to that version via the bible. Or is cm7.1 something completely different?

Yeah my imei number is there. This is crazy, I've never had any problems flashing anything before. Its like my phone won't let me flash any other kernel, but the one that comes with cm7. I can flash cm7.1 modems just fine though

There are 3 kernels right now for the vibrant updated enough to work with the latest nightlies. But only glitch and kernel de jour have been updated, and personally glitch seems to be better (plus, I'm running glitch v11 right now and have been following that thread).
I'm pretty sure all the CM7 kernel links in the bible are too old and therefore, you lose your baseband.

If I take one of the custom kernel zips, and switch out the boot image, do I need to change anything else? For example if I take perseus kernel zip, and just switch out the boot image, will that work? Thanks in advance

No it will not because the stock kernel is not capable of using such features such as Perseus. It's not that simple unfortunately.

Switching out the boot images always worked on htc devices. I just want a flashable stock kernel zip to flash back to if i dont like a custom kernel. I have been enjoying a modded stock rom, and don't want to run a custom rom right now. If it isn't as simple as this, could someone point me in the right direction?

You're saying you want a flashable stock kernel zip? Right? If so, do these VRALL4 and VRALJB kernels work? They are completely stock.
Thank you man, I googled, and dug around for an hour here. This is exactly what I need. Thank you very much. Guess my google foo needs some work.
