HI together, :?
I`m new in this forum and found it because I have a issue I don`t get rid of. I have 2500 sms messages on my xda and want to sell it to get a new one. My problem is I don`t want to delete my whole sms messages as there are so many important one I can`t delete as I need them documented.
I installed now the SMS Export tool from yorch.net as I red in this forum here that I should be able to get this done with this tool.
Problem is that I´m not able to get it done successfully.
1. I downloaded the tool and installed it from my PC over Active Sync on my xda.
2. I can see the SMSExport.vce file in my root folder on my xda
3. I can see the VICERT.vce and Visual CE.unload file under /windows
Problem is now that I need asistance how I can use the tool now ?
1. If I start the VICERT.vce file I get the msg "Run VisualCE.exe to create a form"
2. If I run Visual CE.unload file as I don`t see a exe I get the msg that there is no application assigned to the file?
3. If I riun the SMSExport.vce file I get a programm called SMS Export Utility in front of me where I don`t know how to handle to get the sms messages on my local PC.
My aim is to read the sms messages on my local pc (word or txt file) and burn it as backup on a cd.
I would really appreciate any help as I spent hours already on this topic and I`m not smart enough to get it done.
Thanks in advance...
I faced the same problem, I've searched all over this forum, but until late, I used this software : Smart Phone Studio (http://smartdev.51.net/)
It lets you save all your SMS from phone to PC, and you can also save them on text files with nice formatting
You can also backup SMS from your device, and restore them from the PC at anytime you want!!!
ah I forgot to tell that it also works for XDAs, regardless of its name

Thanks for fast response ...
Do you have the program on your local machine to send it to me via email ? I`m not able to download the program as there is no version available at the moment ...
I'd appreciate a copy as well if possible.
Oops! its not available on the site & its not free anymore!!!!!
But don't worry, I will send u a copy of it when I come back home..
Ok, here is the file..
Simple steps to run it:
1. Change your PC date to March 2004.
2. Copy SPStudio.exe to your PC & run it.
3. Copy CommMan.exe to your pocket PC & run it.
4. Just click on the buttons at the left panel to access your SMS messages & use FILE menu to export/import messages.
Cheers
Thanks. I appreciate it.
Thhhhhhhhhhhhhhanks ... it is working. I really appreciate your time to help me. Just saved thousands of sms .... really cool. Have a great time.

You are most welcome guys
I've recently found a software which synchronizes you SMS with MS Outlook! SMS Sync for Outlook:
http://www.v2r-advanced.com/SMSSync.html
I wonder why Microsoft does not support synchronize SMS with ActiveSync, much like emails :?
I've found a new software which transforms your SMS messages into emails, which then can be easily synchronized with the PC
http://www.geocities.com/tomgrek/
anyone tested it ????
download source for spstudio (expiring by april 2004)
after some browsing the web i have found an alternative download source for the famous spstudio:
http://www.coolsmartphone.com/cooldownloads/SPStudio.zip
you probably have to register at coolsmartphone.com (its for free) before you are allowed to download files.
also consider the hints given above (setting back the date of your pc to march 2004 etc.) for getting the tool working.
enjoy

help...
i am also desperately trying to backup valuable sms. unfortunately i need to back them up since i need to reset my device cause active sync is no longer working ..BIG PROBLEM...i cannot use any of the above tools without active sync.
any ideas how i can get the sms off my MDA without active sync???
thanks
woody
Since your active sync is not working, you can try to backup your files to SD card (use Sprite Backup or anything else to do so) and then you can hard reset your device safely..
Make sure it is the latest version of sprite backup, that software caused nightmares for me, after restoring I could not recieve or send sms so please be sure you get the latest fixed version.

but how can i use sprite backup if i cannot install the software ? no acitve sync, no new installations...
if you can find it as a cab file you can copy it to your sdcard and run it from your xda
SMS Sync Outlook
Hello, Regarding the SMS Sync Outlook...one of the requirements was having Outlook 2003. I still use Outlook 2002, does it matter? Don't really want to upgrade to 2003 yet as there might still be some bugs. Any thoughts anyone?
Thanks,
Bree :?:
Hi Bree (Kabayan?)
I am using Outlook 2003 for several months and as of this moment no problems or bugs yet.

Do you understand your own question?
Just rename the file that's given to you and use softkeys in the settingsmenu to link to that file.

You may already be familiar with the InboxExtender install as it is one of the examples in the WM6 SDK install. This dll is very handy in that it lets you mark an entire folder as read by adding a "Mark All as Read" menu option.
Unfortunately... there is also a very dangerous menu option that is located just a fraction of an inch away. It is labeled "Delete All" and if you accidentally click it, it will without any warning, delete the entire contents of the current MAPI folder.
I have added some code to this dll that places a safety mechanism around the delete functionality. It will simply ask you for verification of your actions before continuing. A simple fix indeed, but makes the dll actually usable.
I have also modified the dll to "unregister" the previous dll (if you had Q Inbox Extender installed). This should have no effect if you had no previous installation.
Instructions:
1.) Copy SafeInboxExtender.cab to your device
2.) Navigate to the cab on your device and click it
3.) Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the install
4.) SOFT RESET!
5.) The "Delete All" function should now be safe!
Please let me know how it works for you.
seems to be very handy. will try it later. thanks...
awesome. Thanks for your work.
that's really great, i could use that before.
thank you very much
this type of menu editing, could you do the same thing to the calendar menu to add an option or edit a current option?
Nice, Great & Good Job
Thanks Ken Pendlebury Great Job!!!
Excellent, just started using this, of course only because it took me almost an hour of searching to find. We really need a thread of site devoted to links to all the various programs that have been developed here on xda-dev.
REQ: anybody thinks it would be a great idea if someone can develop a menu extension just like this for the EXIT or Close of a program - for those many programs that force you to use the X/OK button which is really a pain when trying to use one handed.
Is there anyway to have your messages marked as read via a program execution or maybe a script? Will this program do this?
This is awesome! What a great idea! I've been using it for a few weeks, and definitely saved myself the annoyance of having to restore all of my text messages after accidentally deleting them!
Safe Inbox Extender Much Appreciated!
Absolutely [email protected]#ing awesome! I have been looking for this for a long time. I have accidentally deleted all of my emails more than once. Thanks.

Hello everybody,
i´ve made an upgrade in my S200 to wm6, everything worked except my contacts in my SIM card. I try to enter in the menu but he doesnt let me, i also tried to install icontac and the numbers and names dont show up, and when i try to put a new contact it is shown a error message.
When im recieving a call from a number that is stored in the SIM card it recognizes the name and number...
Can anybody help me with this bug or error?
Thanks.
go edit registry:
HKCU\ControlPanel\Phone\ShowSim
change the ShowSim Value to 1
fixed~~~
We should do hard reset before restore the contact. Do hard reset or 'clear storage' soon after flashing a new rom. Good luck.
I think the problem it´s on the ROM, i have the version 4.0.0.4 PDAVIET, and i need the 4.0.0.6 TOUCH, but the link that has rapidshare here on the forum doesnt have the file, can anybody send me a new link to share this ROM?

Skip to How to Import Chat History below to skip the background reading.
Yes, there is a graphical import method for Line!
If you use Line, and you want to change between devices, it seems as though it is nearly impossible to backup (export) and restore (import) your Line chat history. I have searched XDA, Google, AndroidForums, Line's (useless) online help, etc. No help, no info. There are some guides about how to use a SQL editor to fool the app, etc., but that was just way too much effort for me, so I finally gave up and just switched. BUT, before I did, I went ahead and exported all my chats, even knowing there was no way to import them, just in case. Well, that just paid off.
There is absolutely no method available within Line to restore your chat history, right?! WHY is there a backup option? There MUST be a way! Seemingly no.
I just figured it out. And when I explain it, you too will wonder, why in the !#$%@^[email protected]%!#@$!#[email protected]^*%^&(*%^@# has Naver not published this?????
I was on my way to back everything up in preparation for a new ROM and figured I'd do a complete and total system wipe, meaning, I went to take a look at my internal storage (SDcard, Emulated, 0, whatever you refer to it as), to ensure that I got all the little things I want, like Viber pictures, WhatsApp pics, etc. And there I saw it. The folder. And, like you are now thinking, I thought, just maybe...
How to Import Chat History (Abbreviated, Quick and Easy)
Copy your chatHistory.zip file to internal storage sdcard/LINE_Backup
Start Line, open an existing chat or start a new chat with the person whose chat history you want to restore
Tap the drop-down arrow in the upper right, Chat Settings, and look what just showed up below the (formerly) useless Backup Chat History option
How to Backup and Restore Chat History (Additional Details)
Line offers a "Backup Chat History" option, but keep in mind, this is conversation / per-person specific. That means, you need to do it for each individual person.
For my own ease of use, and to make transferring things easy, now that I know what the process is, here's what I did.
Backing Up
Go into the conversation you want to backup.
Tap the drop-down arrow in the upper right, and select Chat Settings.
Select Backup Chat History, Backup All
Say Yes to e-mail this chat - in a previous version, I had to enter the conversation person's name in the subject, the new Line now does this for me.
Repeat this process for every conversation you want to migrate to a new device.
Restoring
On your new device, save the attachments from each e-mail into the /InternalSDCard/LINE_Backup/ directory.
Start Line, go to Chats, Tap the Chat Bubble in the upper right to start a new conversation, select the person you want to restore
Your chat window will be empty, but from here, you just follow the instructions above, basically, drop-down arrow, Chat Settings, Import Chat History
And that's it.
I REALLY hope this helps some people out. I wasted a LOT of time trying to figure this out, and as usual, once you know the solution, it's pretty simple and seems so obvious.
If I helped, throw me some Thanks button so I know I wasn't the only one!
I have a google Nexus 5, which doesn't have any internal storage.
Are you able to specify where this should be copied too as I cannot seem to find the right holder.
Also, what am i copying in there? The actual zip file or an extract of the zip file?one

On your internal storage of your Nexus 5, create a folder called: LINE_Backup the exact upper/lower case and _ matter. Put the LINE backup zips in that folder, do not extract them. LINE knows which zip goes with which user, you just have to start the chat and import per the instructions above.

Unfortunately, The "Backup All" setting only applies to one-on-one conversations. Group chats only give you the Backup as Text option.

That sucks. I haven't tried a group chat in LINE before. Did you try a backup/import to see if it would work? I'm sort of assuming no, that it doesn't work, based on your post. :/
Thanks!
A huge THANKS for this, saved me alot of trouble.
Still, anyone figured out how to import group chats? Maybe from the text file?

A big you're welcome.
I don't have enough LINE friends to actually have a group chat and try to figure it out.
I just found a method for importing the chat history using Titanium Backup and the terminal. You need root for this. Recently Line made some changes that made this more
Hope you find this useful.
1. Restore Line with Titanium Backup (app+data) (DON'T OPEN THE LINE APP YET!)
2. Log into a root shell and delete the previous settings:
sqlite3 /data/data/jp.naver.line.android/databases/naver_line
delete from setting;
.quit
3. Now we have to delete this xml only if you are using a recent version. In previous ones it didn't even exist as far as I know
rm /data/data/jp.naver.line.android/jp.naver.line.android.settings.xml
4. Open the Line app and it will ask you to enter your user and password.
You will receive a warning about losing your chat history. Just ignore it and...
5. Enjoy!
I had copy the zip files to the Line_backup folder which was already in the phone internal memory. However, there is no Import Chat History Button.
The Line version was the latest one and had Force Stop and restarted Line. Still to no avail.
Is there any way to view the chat log?
What format is it saved in and how would you go about viewing the chat log if you were sent one from a chat that wasn't yours?
Didn't Work on LG Android Optimus
I must be doing something wrong, but it seems I've followed all the steps. The LINE_backup files are in my SD card, but when I click Import Chat History>yes>ok, nothing happens... :/
I made an account just to post on here and hopefully find out.

If I use SQLite Debugger to delete the setting table, and I also remove the jp.naver.line.android.settings.xml file with ES Explorer, I get the Force Close when I try to open the application.
And If I delete the whole naver_line database, then Line starts, but losing the chat history.

Got it! I was missing the su command to make the emulator rooted.
I also found the jp.naver.line.android.settings.xml file in a slightly different location than where daimyorl said above (but the credits go to him). For me it was into /data/data/jp.naver.line.android/shared_prefs/
Then, the complete instructions that worked for me are:
Restore Line with Titanium Backup (app+data) (DON'T OPEN THE LINE APP YET!)
Log into a shell and delete the settings:
Code:
su
sqlite3 /data/data/jp.naver.line.android/databases/naver_line
delete from setting;
.quit
Remove jp.naver.line.android.settings.xml
Code:
rm /data/data/jp.naver.line.android/shared_prefs/jp.naver.line.android.settings.xml
Open the Line app and it will ask you to enter your user and password. It will also ask your phone number for the confirmation SMS.
Enjoy!
