Need some help people... - Touch Diamond2, Pure ROM Development

Hello guys...
first of all, excuse me for my bad english...I'm not an oxford student
I got a topaz from a friend to remove the russian language and flash a german ROM.
He knows that I know much about Android and flashing etc. But I didn't know that it will be harder to understand WinMob than understanding Android.
I'm stuck with the Hard-SPL. How I said before, this phone is Russian and I don't understand anything...The automatic flasher gives me this:
"Sorry, the Hard-SPL process closed early due to an error..."
After that, i copied the necessary file for manual flashing into the phone, executed it and started the manual mode, which gives me the 260 CONNECTION error.
Phone is connected and sync. Installing the enabler*.cab didn't help.
I don't know which information you will need. So, I will now write down what I think could be important.
Tricolor-Screen:
TOPA100 32M
SPL-1.33.0000
Under the battery:
HTC Touch Diamond2 T5353 RUS
White field says "USB", I think this is supposed to be important.
So...What do you suggest? I promised him to bring him his new, cool phone tomorrow... I think I can forget that
What should I do now? Thank you in advance...

the following questions will be about the Automatic mode (not Manual mode):
is the only error you get is the early close error, after pressing "OK" for preparing to flash? if yes, what OS version are you running (and is it physical installation of Windows)? and what do you see on phone screen? also, exact error text = ?

Hi, thank you for your reply.
I'm using Win7 x86, not virtual or something.
After "Preparing to flash, please press OK now and wait" I get a Fatal Error
"Hard-SPL is for non-commercial....." It tells me that I used it before, what I definitively did not.
After that the following pops up:

nobody any idea?
I now flashed
RUU_Topaz_S2_HTC_RUS_2.53.411.3_Radio_Signed_Topaz_61.44etc.25.35_4.49.25.91_Ship
trying Hspl-flasher again...
doesn't work. automatic mode fails the same way, and manual mode comes with congrats for flashing hard-spl once i click the button. but tricolor doesn't show me any hard-spl...
i don't know what to do with this piece of §#$X

you need to send a ticket at http://support.htc-unlocks.com/ to get a free license (for personal use). note, when you send it, you should get a confirmation email with the ticket number, be sure to keep that.

Alright, I will check it out, but those tickets are for purchased stuff or not?

Himalaya upgarde failed to win200 se please help to downgrad

Dear friends
I was tring to upgrade my iMate Pocket PC also know as Himalaya with windows2003 SE , while upgrading I faced problems, the upgarde failed and now I am just getting no display and OS too. The only message displayed is
Serial
v1.03
nothing is working please help
bye with regrads,
your unit is still okay; even better that the usb version is showing on the screen. it's simply stuck on bootloader mode. what kind of problems did you encounter resulting in the failed upgrade?
one suggestion i can give before you downgrade is to try and proceed with the upgrade to se. put your unit back on the cradle but don't expect activesync to "recognize" the device. just put it back on the cradle and rerun the upgrade to se.
same thing happened when i upgraded but to wm2005. the screen showed error and the only thing on the screen was the usb version. i simply cradled back the unit and ran the upgrade. worked.
cheers
Hi
Thanks a lot, i tired those steps before and even now I did but its not upgarding I am gettig following error as show i the attachment. Please let me know what to do

oh, it appears that you have the "wrong country" id issue. i'm not entirely sure as to how to avoid this but i believe it has something to do with the correct rom version (guys, correct me if i'm wrong). where did you get the rom you used for upgrading to se? downgrading might be the only trick if there is no rom for saudi-based users...but if any chaps presently living there and were successful in upgrading their units perhaps you could share the rom version/s you used?
cheers

To overcome the Country ID Error, first you need to install this tool...
ftp://xda:[email protected]/Tools/ER2003Edit_1_4_26.zip
Open the ROM file you want to upgrade, then change the appropriate 'Operator ID' code, after this click 'Save ROM image'.
Upgrade ur device. You will no longer face the error message.

My SPV M3100 won't start...

Hello.
I have a problem I hope someone here can help me to solve..
I have an Orange SPV M3100 that hangs on the Windows Mobile screen when I try to start it.
I'm able to go into bootloader mode, and i have tried using mtty142.exe with the set 14 0 command. It still won't boot. I've also tried to hard reset it.. still won't boot..
What I did was trying to unluck the SIM-lock with the Universal unlocker (HTC_Uni_Unlock_v1) from buzz. At the time I thought universal meant that it worked on all HTC devices (stupid, I know)... And I also thought it was harmless to just try and see if it worked. But I got an error around 92-93% and after that my device won't start. So my radio ROM might be screwed.
I'd like to flash my ROM with the i-mate one (JASJAM_WWE_1.20.305.3_1.20.305.104_1.07.03.10_ship.exe) and then add the ext-rom. But how do I do that when I can just access the bootloader screen? And do you think it will boot again if I'm able to flash it?
Here's some more info about my device:
HERM100
IPL-1.01
SPL-1.04
Thank you very much in advance. Help will be highly appreciated.
No your rom *is* screwed. You can get into bootloader, you can even get to 11% of a dopod etc rom upgrade if you try, but you will not flash a new radio.
You CAN boot the device.
Do a hard reset, but do not press spacebar to reboot after. Instead, do a soft reset. The unit should boot but as you've screwed the radio you will not get a gsm signal and the phone will say unknown sim status.
I know this as I bought one cheap after the owner had done exactly the same as you.
IMEI-check's unlock solution is the only one that works IIRC, and in some cases this re-writes the security area of the phone and repairs similar issues, but in this case I could not get the prog to read.
You need to return the device to HTC - you'll need to pay approx £35 for reflashing back to the orange rom. This is what I had to do.
Currently you cannot book the m3100 in through the web as it's too new, instead email / call them.
http://service.htceurope.com/
edit - or if you're an orange customer ring 150 and act dumb saying it ' won't work'....
Richard
What happens if you just leave the phone in bootloader mode and then try to flash any ROM (imate, dopod, htc...)? run 2 times the RomUpgradeUt.exe if you get an error on the 1st try.
If you get an error while running the rom upgrade utility you can monitor the USB port while upgrading (you will see the real error from the bootloader then), there's some more info on this wiki page:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_BootLoader
good luck

No, if you want to send it back under warranty do not try to run a rom update as there are no orange rom packages. As described in my post above, it will get to 11% and stop. The device will be in the same state as before, with the same ext rom, but the splash screen and bootloader will have changed.
i.e: it will be bloomin obvious you tried flashing it and failed. Not what you want if you try for a warranty repair....
There is no error from the bootloader - as there is no radio rom present and no security area the upgrade process just hangs.

That's true, do not try to flash any other roms if you want to use the warranty or send the device back...
Thank you very very much for your help guys.
As I'm the administrator of these devices in the company I work for I just grabbed a new SPV and will send this thing back to Orange. It sounded like I'm getting a new one..
Well, I think I've learnt my lession.
Oh, and I have another question. Is there a reg editor I can install on this one so I can remove the app lock? I know I can install java apps, but it's a bit grumpy about apps that needs installation (the developer must be certificated).
Cheers guys.
Hi,
Try to flash a new rom using the SD card method described here:

The rom must match your CID. Let us know if it works

Sorry to take the thread a bit OT, but just wanted to confirm this again.
So, if I flashed my M3100 with a different ROM, and then had to return the phone to Orange for repair for a different reason, I can send it back to HTC just to have the ROM reflashed, and then send the phone to Orange to get the repairs done?
I've been hesitating on whether to flash the phone with a non-Orange ROM because I didn't want to give up the ability to obtain warranty repair (as there is no ROM upgrade yet). If it's just a matter of £35 and then everything else as normal, maybe it's not so bad...
Thanks!

Install Japanese input on a UK Tytn..

Hi!
I am thinking of upgrading to a Vodafone v1605 on Monday.. and I can see lots of information about changing languages etc... but it is getting confusing for me...
Is there are concise account on how to install Japanese on a UK Vodafone V1605?
I am new to this and only have experience with Palm PDA's. I am a bit worried about editing registeries etc..

Hi hanmin,
thanks for your reply,
" Have you read this?

Yes, I have read aquasesh's thread and also the links posted within.
I think perhaps. this thread is most useful.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=281617&page=8
and I can see these links to asukal's site.
http://www.asukal.jp/WM5/LetsJapanNo5.zip
then install this
http://www.asukal.jp/WM5/BagojsINPUT.zip
I have also read this over at Brighthand
http://forum.brighthand.com/showthread.php?t=217045
Reading all of these makes the process seem quite simple, but later on in the threads people post idffierent problems. I know it is perhaps true that they did not follow the instructions to the letter.....
I have also read this thread
http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showthread.php?t=103305&pp=20
So you see, I did use the search, but was hoping to find a summary of how to install full Japanese support, like a beginers guide.
I will read these again to try to get the process into my head. And will also read these pages thoroughly
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Hermes
Currently I use a Tungsten T3 PDA paired to a 802SE and can see Japanese in my email, and also reply in Japanese. But my T3 's battery only lasts an hour when out and about.
I also use a Sony Vaio VGN-TX51B which has the Japanese OS but of course, it is not always convenient to carry it around.
I know very little about the TyTn and things like re-flashing roms. and am wondering whether to buy a sim free unlocked no branding TyTn or just go for a Vodafone one as my upgrade is now due.
Thanks again for your reply,
Ofiaich
Ofiaich,
Read this one if you read Japanese. It has the step by step comprehensive instruction on how to do it.

Well, from my experience, Asukal's works.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=262918&highlight=
Anyway, I personally wouldn't suggest a ROM flashing for other language support unless you very much prefer having interfaces in other languages. I had my Chinese language support from Asukal, it works wonderfully. I did a beginner's guide at the Wiki under WM5.
Anyway, I'm sure you can get your stuff working. It is difficult to judge the difficulty of a certain task based on posts as many that got the thing working won't post at all. So, the success rate may be much higher than what you thought.
Anyway, Tytn or Hermes are waaaaay out my league (I'm poor), so I can't comment on which one you ought to be getting. You can look for some other thread discussing this issue.
Anyway, if you can, once you got your thing working, do a begineer's guide at the Wiki then.
Thanks harryk1372 and hanmin!

the rough process is as follows. i think you can find details yourself.
1) override wince.nls
2) install a japanese font
3) change font registry
4) install atok for ppc (don't reboot yet)
5) install DefSipChange to change default sip from atok to something else
6) install pqzii to map a key to start ime
the key is that atok tries to become default sip after installation. when atok is the default sip, the system just gets hung up, and all you can do is hard-reset. defsipchange detects and prevents atok from becoming default, and you can choose another sip as default. english key map does not have KANJI (ime) key. pqzii is a very useful program to map the ime start function to any key.
if you wanna save disk space, i recommend you use docomo rom.
thanks qtotter!
I got the idea but need to do more serious reading, looks daunting for a beginner !
I got a chance to buy an unbranded, unlocked TyTn, or use my Vodafone upgrade and get a V1605.

i had a problem when i was experimenting the docomo rom that you can find at the wiki site. no matter how many times i tried flashing it, it stopped exactly at 47% all the time giving me an error that there is a communication error. looks like there are many of those who succeeded flashing it though. were you able to flash it?

i am using docomo rom on x01ht since it does not have a sim-monitoring process although i don't want to see docomo logo everyday. i could update the rom w/o any problems, but i did not download it from here.
try to download the file from here again or look for "Herm_China.rar" (it was named like this, originally) elsewhere on the net.
and before you update the rom, be certain that your device is fully charged, that there is no anti-virus software, no screen saver, no unnecessary software running on PC, and that there is no sim or no microsd left in the device.
if you still get the same error, simply chage the cable or try on another pc.
Hi qtotter,
thanks for your reply...
i do have "Herm_China.rar" downloaded but just thought that the one uploaded here by pof is from that and is the same thing. i too didn't want to see docomo bootsplash on x01ht and flashing it was only experimental after seeing Asukal's post on his web that he succeeded flashing it on x01ht.
i personally prefer i-mate roms and i have i-mate rom flashed on my Universal although i have changed the bootsplash by following the instructions on buzzdev.net and i don't have to see i-mate logo on a Dopod device. i now have TyTN rom flashed on my x01ht as it doesn't have any brand logos other than HTC bootsplash. I'll stick with TyTN rom until someone finds the way to cook nbh roms and the way to change bootsplash and so forth.
thanks again for your advice anyways...
change bootsplash and rom cooking will be possible soon

Installing wm6 on x7500.

I have downloadet ATHE_wm6_x7500.zip file from another threat.
Is there anything that I should think of before I'l go on?
I know I need to take backup first.
But anything else?
And 2 more thing.
I know 3g talk is not working on wm6. Is there something else problem with it?
And is there possible to install the public release when it is released? (after I have installed this version)
Edit: Sorry for bad language.
I'm from Norway. And I spent to little time in my class
Before flashing your device:
Is it sim-unlocked and superCID ?
what is sim-unlocked and sid unlocked?
The phone is bought without simcard og something.
I can use whatever simcard I want
First Unlock
You will first want to download and install the program in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=315831. Make sure you read all the instructions and understand exactly what you will be doing. Then your phone will be ready to install WM6
I have read the post now.
Do I need to whatch the movie? Or is the steps readable from the exe fil when running it?
I'm in linux now and can't check the exe before rebooting.
Thanks for helping me
The steps are readable during the install but since you might not feel comfortable with english you can watch the video which always helps.
Thanks for the help. Read english is no problem. I'm just bad at writing it
First do the unlock program.
And then go for the rom file that I have mentions in first post?
Thanks again for the help
It failed after step 2. Black screen and nothing is working.
I got no error on step 1.
I have tryed to use cam button and reset to get it in debug?
And I get many colors and some info about firmware.
And there is standing USB.
Others are talking about a loading screen. Where can I find that?

That multi-color screen sounds like the bootloader. Assuming you are now super CID (not sure because your message doesn't say what the "some info" is), you simply establish a USB connection between a PC and your 7500, download the WM6 ROM on to your PC, and execute it. This was exactly my experience (just got to step 1, black screen on step 2). Lot of posts on this, so make sure you do your research before proceeding. Hope this helps, and good luck.
thanks. love it. JUST LOVE IT.
I have fixed it before you posted. mmmm.

I had the same problem and most likely noone will help you on this board.... I read the forum, then asked for help and still no educated replies... I feel like this forum is run by HTC producers and they make you brick the phone and force you to and go buy a new one !!!

This thread was hardly 1 hour old and you make a rather rude statement. This forum is supported by volunteers, not people that sit around all day waiting for posts to come in and find a solution that drops out of no-where.

You are not going to make any friends this way mate. If you want quick solutions then read all the material that's on here and search for the answer yourself.
If you don't want problems then leave your phone in its standard state.

@camus_dvd: have you checked out the wiki? There may be a solution there. If not, you need to give us more info?
Have you ever successfully flashed before?
Give us Versions? Windows, ActiveSync, .NET, ROM, RUUWrapper (e.g. is it the custom or a standard shipped), etc.
Did you try removing the battery for a couple minutes?
Did you try connecting while in bootloader mode, instead of in normal state? (e.g. put phone in BL, THEN attached USB, then run updater)?
These answers will help us help you.
Oh, and about the volume issue, try using the google search link in my sig to search the forum for "hermes low volume tweak" or something like that. I had a similar problem, but cannot remember the tweak. I do not THINK It was the one you posted.
Heck - onew final edit. I got curious and did the searching. You will find a thread HERE and it references a tweak in the wiki HERE HERE . Hope this helps.
@hanissusa: sorry you did not get any "intelligent" answers. If you are unhappy, you are not a prisoner here.

I spent 3 days reading the forum, trying all kinds of methods to unbrick it, however it still dead. Is it considered a quick solution ?
Anyways, I successfully flashed my device and made SUPER CID, so its fully unlocked. Thats the only flash I have done prior to upgrading the radio bootloader. I hold 2 computer science degrees and I could understand most of the stuff discussed on this forum, however it didnt solve the problem.
The reason I tried to flash my radio bootloader is because suddenly the phone started to freeze(about every 30 mins). I thought may be the operator has a new radio version so I need to upgrade in order to get the best connection and most importantly never have my phone freezed again.

Tried about 20 times, still unable to flash radio rom with any of the available versions. Always freezes at 0% thru RUU, if I use SD card method freezes in the 10-15% range. I am able to flash everythin, including SPL, operating system, but not the radio rom !!!

Tried that as well. Tried using MMTY, checksum gives me radio error.

I got several answers of this type:
"Go read Wiki"
"Go try this method"
and I have done all of it and nothing helped the problem.
You can consider above answers very intelligent, however I did not get a single anser form POF or Olipro - people who actually created this software and know most of the tricks.
for me same problem, only that i can't use my device anymore( : I tried to install another rom, Hermes_WM6_WWE_vp3G_v3[1].61.0_ATT_Full.rar and Touch_I_interface_beta.zip and crashed. and now, i enter in bootloader, if i want to make super cid it tells me to connect the pda even if is connected. and if i try to install other roms is stuck on 0%

I wonder what kind of institution gave you said degrees? I have a degree in Japanese and Linguistics but I suck at both.

Flashed and superCID does NOT mean fully unlocked. If you can read programming and or networking text books, I don't understand what is so hard about the wiki?
If you read everything and actually tried to understand it all, then you would know that flashing the radio is inherently dangerous and that 9/10 times the radio is not the issue.

Problem:
use RUUWrapper.exe to Updata, final step, then Phone Screen stays in 0%, the RUU programs shows a 302 Error. when I did what it told me to, everythings happened again.
First happened when I updata my Radio from 1.51.00.00 to 1.47.00.00
and happened again when I updata the ROM (OS only)
Q:
1. How to solve this?
2. After I upgrade the Radio to 1.51.00.00 I can't hear the others clearly when pick up a phone. try to up the volume, but useless, which version will be OK?
3. any REG modify solution?
I try to modify the REG
HKEY_CURRENT_USER ->
ControlPanel ->
SoundCategories ->
InCall ->
InitVol ->
DWORD Data

@hanissusa,
Why don't you just send your device back to the repair centre, foot the bill, and put it all down to experience? You may have a hardware problem that nothing on here might solve.
You might be better off going down that route than going through the pain of trying to sort it and not getting anywhere. Also stops you p**sing people off on here. You can't claim that just because you have had a bad experience we should all stop flashing our devices.
We are all aware of the risks and if we can't fix it then its put your hand in your pocket time and send it back to be repaired.
Good luck with it; hope it all works out.

thx a lot. I will try it, 'cause i'm tired to use all kind of stufs
my first SPL was 1.03 but after a try of upgrading ROM it was modifed in 2.03 and i think this is the problem. does anyone knows how to modify it?
how can i downgrade my SPL ?
pi$$ing people off ? hey chill back I am just giving experienced advice to other people, just as you do. The fact that our opinions are different does not mean that you are right and I am wrong.
Anyways, I have T-Mobile MDA, as far as I udnerstood HTC repair would not care to fix it ?

Have you called the repair centre to see whether they will fix it or not? Your worse case scenario is that they say no. There again they might say yes, especially if you are willing to foot the bill, or put you in contact with another company who can sort it out for you.
I really do hope you can get it fixed; however I think you have started out on the wrong footing on this board and you may well find that people on here now just don't want to help you out (please don't shoot the messenger).
Good luck with it.
Cheers

You can't without a running OS setuped on your device. If you don't have the HardSPL you should try to flash with the default flasher AND a rom matching your CID.
If there is a rom matching your CID out you may have quite good chance to get your hermes back to live. Toying without hardspl is a really bad thing
and that hardSPL how can i do it?
