Hey guys,
I'm wondering, when I make a typo on my X10, how do I fine-select the text? I can tap, but it usually places the cursor at the wrong place and since we don't have a trackball: how do we fine-select (as in move the cursor 1 place to the left or right).
I tried the volume keys, but it doesn't work.. is it even possible?
Thanks in advance!
same issue
i have the same issue. i can get it prty close within a few charioteers ill just erase up to the point and re type ><
depends on the keyboard ur using i suppose. i use the standard android keyboard b/c it has the left and right arrows in the corner making it easier to tap on the line of txt that needs editing and then moving the cursor to the correct position ...
that's weird im using the default keyboard and i have no such arrows
The other option is that you can tap and hold your finger to drag the cursor left or right along the text. With a little practice, you can make this work very efficiently.

If you have the htc ime keyboard, you can go into its settings and set the cursor to be moved by the volume keys. I did this and its very helpful.

Thats odd, i cannot do that at all...
if using swype you can just drag the swype key onto the SYM key to bring up editing mode (they are both on the bottom left of the keyboard)

I am obviously being particularly dim tonight cos I can't find this. Where is it!?!?!
To use volume keys to move your cursor with the htc keyboard do the following....
Settings > Locale & Text > HTC_IME settings > User Interface > Volume Keys and select "Move Cursor"
OMGosh I knew it would be so simple. Thank you, I thought I'd opened everything and looked. Oh well it had been a long day! And its sooo cool too. Cheers.
Hi was wondering if it was possible to create a shortcut from a programme i have on my memory card and place it on one of the home screen tabs?

using file manager, press and hold the program file, choose copy, browse to windows/start menu/programs press menu, edit, paste shortcut.
now it will show when you assign an empty quicklink.

In your app drawer, hit the capacitive menu button (far left) and then edit. You should be able to drag apps into the quick launch.
1. Hit the app drawer
2. hit menu
3. select view type
4. select customizable grid
5. hit menu again
6. select edit
7. at this point you can drag icons to the bottom as well
8 when you are finished hit menu
9. select save!!!
if you like alphabetical view you can change it back after making your edit.
Hi,
I'm using Swiftkey. Is it possible to move cursor around each character by just swiping a finger on the keyboard from left or right ? If this feature available it's much easier than sometimes I have to click and drag the arrow down below the text to locate cursor on the character I want.
WITHOUT THIRD PARTY LAUNCHERS, I would like to know how to change the behavior of "long pressing" Menu capacitive button? I would like to change this function to S-Voice.
I've tried changing JUST the long press behavior before to no avail. I was told I had to make a brand new systemui apk for that to happen.
You can however change the behavior of the whole button (changing what it does both short and long press) if you edit /system/usr/keylayout files generic.kl and gpio_keys.kl item 139 I believe. Make sure you change both files equally or your phone will soft brick. You can change it to be SEARCH instead of menu so short press would work as a search button and long press will ask you what voice search you want to use. Oh and you might need to tell apps to show the action overflow button (since you have no menu button) I don't know how to do that part
Why can't you use the double tap home button to accomplish this? Do you not like it? It's standard in s-voice settings

I have tried generic.kl and gpio_keys.kl file changing but cant get it to work with s-voice. Also, I dont want the double press home button to control this because it does seem to make things slower when single clicking.
