is Google Earth Available for the Gtab, i know it wouldnt let me install it, but i dont see why it wouldnt work, other than the 3/4 view in Maps doesnt work either...

ive had both working on my tab... no gps of course.

He probably really means Google maps and not earth. I've never seen Google earth for android.

Then you should search market for Google Earth , just not from a gTablet. I sideloaded it from my Droid but upon startup it just hangs at the splash screen

Then it just repeats that Sensor Type stuff until I press Home or back.

Ok - So how do I side load it - searched my X for *earth*, and all i found was the .so and other /data/com.google.earth files. but without an APK, how do i install it?

Can someone post the version of Google Earth that works on the tablet. I downloaded version 1.2 but it causes the tablet to keep rebooting till I hold down the power button and force restart the tablet. I have an BT gps receiver that works perfectly with google maps. So can someone post a working apk for the device. I have an android phone but it is not showing up in the market. Thanks

/system is part of your 'read only' rom
/data is the partition where apk and its associated cache/data files go.
try moving some of the bigger apk's to sdcard.

Ive tried, but it says it failed to move them - im repartitioning the SD card as we speak

I have Google Earth loaded but can't get it past the splash page.
I have My Fake Location running, have unchecked Use Wireless networks, unchecked Use GPS satellites, and checked Use mock locations. I've tried what I think is all the combinations of those settings but still no go. Does anyone know if there is a setting I am missing? Should I move it to the SD card maybe? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

My Fake Location apk?
Can anyone post the My Fake Location apk? It doesn't show up in my market on my gTab and I haven't (and really can't) rooted my phone to get the apk to be able to side load it.

Shoot I had my hopes up that this would finally get Google Maps working...

Google Earth works for me -- both in Portrait and Landscape mode
Here's a recap of how mine is configured if it helps:
- Installed "Location Spoofer" from the Market and set my coordinates
- Location Spoofer has both "Move Randomly" and "Spoof GPS Location" turned OFF (unchecked)
- Running Google Earth v.1.2.1 (6.0.1.2051)
- In Google Earth settings, "Use Hardware Sensors" is turned off (unchecked)
I've tried both "My Fake Location" and "Location Spoofer" and just find that the later works better for me...
Hope that helps...

On this stock gTablet I don't have to run any kind of location spoofer and Earth runs fine with all the controls shown in the help file (sans GPS). The only thing I notice is the image gets blocky and distorts right before maximum zoom-in is reached. No big deal. I find it rather amazing that Earth even runs on a tablet.

I tried my favourite launcher (original Launcher2 ripped from nexus s).
It was installed (I copied it to /system/app), but it don't work. Logcat output don't show anything wrong IMO.

If it is the same problem as I have and you can select to launch the home but all it comes up with is a black screen just tap the screen where the app launcher button should be then you will see the app drawer then tap home button on the app drawer and you should see the launcher

Hi all,
I'm an old member but is the first time I write in the forum.
My question is: how do I root my XTouch X401?
The recovery is a custom version and from there I can calibrate and test the hardware.
I also found the phone version:

How can I try? I would like to root the phone and then cook the ROM for a faster device. Is the first time for me.

Lucky to have searched here before i was actually about to start all the steps you made 1 - 4 out of a true believe that it will be rooted as long as it's Android
Will try this script and come back with feedback, worried cause our asses are not covered as we can not flash stock if anything went wrong .. but who gives a damn .. ROOT!!

Works like charm. Next step is bootloader

I think it's possible to flash the ROM using flashtool but we don't have the ROM image.
The first think i'd like to do is to install a custom CWM to backup all but i don't know where to start and i've got no idea on where to ask help

Hello Friends, I have purchased one Xtouch X401 from Dubai and i have used there for two weeks successfully connected with Etisalat. Now I am on a vacation to India but unfortunetly my phone is not connecting to any of the networks at India. I tried Idea, Aircell, Airtel and Vodafone but no luck. can any one help me to solve this issue. Thanks in advance.

It's very strange because in Italy I'm able to connect to all the network carriers! Have you tried a restore?

Sound: Loud and very fair (for a chinese phone) :angel:
Battery: probably the worst part, but hey :victory: , there are two batteries in the package. my biggest issue is that the phone inaccurately reports battery level (i.e. if it's on 45% and the phone restarts, it reports 22%)
Possibility to install all the apps mentioned: Everything can be installed (it's android), few lags but not really serious
The light sensor is ineffective
I have attached screenshots for the specs and reference

dear droidace thank u for ir response i purchased this phone in 550 aed from madina mall quasis everything is fine in this phone but little problems and can u pls solve it
1) when i using wifi in my home it is ok but when i m using wifi in my office advanced settings i m using static ip which my office it person has given me but wifi is not connecting and i t is showing obtaining ip address i was using this same settings in my earlier android phone karbonn a9 it was ok but this setting are not working in this phone pls solve this
2) sometimes touch is laging not so smooth is this is problem bescause the xtouch people have put a heavy screen protector
3) no gameloft hd games are able to run if installing then hanging and sometimes showing app not comptabile

Yes i tried restore and also given to few technicians - they all said this device is not able to unlock. I dont understand the problem.

try to disable 3G and restart the phone MENU>>settings>>more>>mobile network>>3G services>>off

download the attached file
active usb debugging from developer option at system setting at your phone
connect your phone to the PC usb
extracted it and run RunMe.bat
follow the instruction on screen

[Q] Alps C3 & wrong firmware?

Straight to the topic...
Reason why suspecting this is because i read this thread and my gps is not working at all, wifi and blutooth are ok.

Edit: It arrived already rooted and recovery is twrp(?).
And when i press power + volume buttons, it goes to the recovery(?),
but it's chinese...

Hello! I have this same device and mine is working fine. I have T-Mobile USA and I only get EDGE. I think it is your service plan or provider. Check to see if the bands are correct.

I tried many times selecting manually the service provider, and automatically, but the lock is very foulty, probably i should change the preferred networks but i dont know what to write in that.
Or flash with a better radio now that the phone is rooted..
But how im sure of what radio to use?

[Q] HDC S5 G900F Clone MTK 6582 QuadCore

I bought this phone online and i'm facing a few problems, first of all i can't get the samsung boot logo when the phone startup, i did try most of the code around the web but no luck... The other problem is some parts of the screen have error for example if i press E it type D anyone knows how to fix the screen calibration?
Also i cannot find any stock ROMs or custom ROMs anywhere......

but having big problems with carrier lock, the radio seems faulty?... the phone is not rooted, just installed mob uncle tools...
how can i root it and try a different radio?...what else could i do?

Problems registering to mobile network
Yeh i've found that code too, but the biggers issue is that the mobile has problems registering to mobile network...
I think the baseband should be upgraded..

I ,strangely enough, see that many operators where i live show the message (forbidden) after manual search of mobile networks operator..
Why??? Is there a problem with IMEI or some modem patching needed?
The mobile is not rooted, and i dont know what method to follow since i'm not sure about the right method for this mobile...

i have same clone with logo from Korea.
but my mobile no have sound....no speaker..only functional of vibration..if i want listen sound i need put headphone.

i have the same phone but i think my software must be wrong...it say sm-n900 in the model number..with mobileuncle appears like g900f..i dont know if its wrong or what...i use the samsung code and it work..or this code works in all the chinese phones? please help me...i see the rtom for th hdc gold s5..and everything looks the same only the 4 final numbers are different...

maybe i can flash that rom..my ram memory is this:
memtotal=2080716kb that means it 2gb right?

I flash only the system.ing of the HDC s5 gold rom...and it works. I put my backup con flashtool and xhange the system..my phone boot up bit my cam only work the front camerA.. But let me tell you.. Its very very fast rom....if u don't use the camera u can flash that rom only the Android img and works well.

Hi , Can you make a backup of your rom please ? I tryed to update it with a rom on needrom but this rom just breake my phone ! Before that i also had touchscreen problem when typing on keyboard . If you can do that i will be gratefull
You can use mtk droid tool to make a backup . :angel:

Hello! Thanks for this awesome thread! I have this exact same device but before I started messing around flashing roms... I made cwm recovery img and flashed via SP flash tool. Also downloaded two roms on needrom.com to see if they work on my SM-G900F that I bought from fastcardtech.com. The SM-G900F golden rom didn't work for me. I hear it boot up and screen lights up but its blank and BLACK. Luckily I made a backup of my rom when I first received it hehe. I was trying to flash for a rom with IR remote. It seems we might have a real HDC or I could be wrong and it can be different hardware than the rest of the roms I tried flash.

So I tryed to flash it with spflashtool 5.XX . The preload file android file are missing . With spflashtool 4.xx it crashed .
androidboi209 Can you share your backup as it's a working backup ? With wich version of spflashtool did you restored your backup ? Do you have the same smartphone as us ? HDC S5 mt6582 with HD screen ? I'm supposed to have one with Ir remote

How did you flash it ? With wich version of spflash tool ? When i was trying to flash it i got android (system.img) missing file . ( because ext4 format instead of .img format

is Google Earth Available for the Gtab, i know it wouldnt let me install it, but i dont see why it wouldnt work, other than the 3/4 view in Maps doesnt work either...

He probably really means Google maps and not earth. I've never seen Google earth for android.

it hangs because it can't find your location. use something like 'My Fake Location' then run google earth.

Ok - So how do I side load it - searched my X for earth, and all i found was the .so and other /data/com.google.earth files. but without an APK, how do i install it?

/system is part of your 'read only' rom /data is the partition where apk and its associated cache/data files go. try moving some of the bigger apk's to sdcard.

Ive tried, but it says it failed to move them - im repartitioning the SD card as we speak Damn it!! I repartitioned - wiped Every thing and restored it all STILL says its unable to install WWTTFF!!

My Fake Location apk? Can anyone post the My Fake Location apk? It doesn't show up in my market on my gTab and I haven't (and really can't) rooted my phone to get the apk to be able to side load it. Thanks

Same here. Installed My Fake Location, enabled Use Mock Locations & started up MFL but still hangs on Google Earth splash screen...
