I tried and faild to flash via ODIN... please help. - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I don't know where I failed. I got into download mode, selected the tar for the JL5 T-Mobile leak, and now I'm bricked.
Sorry to be another idiot, but I could really use some help? I just got my vibrant today.
Here's the error:

Just to add more info...
I'm coming from stock and this is my first flash via ODIN. All I wanted was to go to Froyo via the leaked JL5 build.
Just to clarify, do I select the .tar via PDA or Phone?

I can get back into Download Mode, no problem. I just can't get ODIN to flash the .tar of the JL5 leak. What have I done wrong?
I tried restarting the computer, etc.

Just kept trying and it eventually worked.
Sorry for the panic.

So can you boot up at all or only into download mode
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App

No, I could only boot into download mode. I just kept restarting and reconnecting, and eventually, it worked. No problems.
I had the drivers installed, so ODIN recognized the COM right away. It just failed on the first flash, and since it was my first day with the new phone (and my wife was sitting next to me) I started to panic a bit.

OK If it is failing and you can still reboot into the old rom?
It really looks like a bad download. Delete the JL5 and download again
IF you can boot ok to 2.1, then load the tar file in PDA no pit file necessary, and do not check repartition
If you cannot boot up anymore. Look in development or in the bible the shipping rom
Odin the shipping rom, load the pit file, load the tar in PDA and check repartition.
After that is fine and boots, you can try with the new downloaded jl5

PS: I also have captivate and without any problem rooted it, unlocked and reflashed it to 2.2
verizon makes me ploblems since motorola v710, get it now and etc.
And my bluetooth not working after rooting
I start Googling tango found that peoples have same problems on rooting phones after update.

Anybody can say me that I need to reflash?
And provide link to download and string name in Odin
Another problem, I cannot update firmware. I lived in canada and to activate phone I need to be in states.
That's an old CWM. You want the new CWM for all ROMs. Can't post a link, but it's in the devs forum by jt. Flash the Odin file and you should be fine.

But... I can only run it if I choose "reboot into recovery" from rom manager.
3 buttons or adb reboot recovery or even reboot recovery from advanced menu of cwmr start samsung e2 recovery. Is it correct? How to access cwmr if I will not be able to boot?

Have I bricked my S3?

Hi, after trying out some custom roms like CM9-10 and Omega my phone suddenly started rebooting. It lets me enter the PIN and starts up but after a qouple of seconds it reboots again.
The wierd part is that it autostarts after I insert the battery, but I can enter both CWM and Download mode.
I have tried enter CWM and do a wipe but phone reboots in the middle of the process, same goes when trying to flash CM9 or any other rom I have on the internal SD.
I have also tried following a Swedish guide to restore it to stock using Odin, but after adding the PDA and pressing start I get a Fail in Odin to, something about NAND write fails.
Does anyone have a solution for me? Should I tick re-partition or do something other in Odin?
I would suggest boot into recovery. Wipe Dalvik cache. Flash Rom. Wipe both caches. reboot.

Well I think so, it was sold in Sweden.
The problem is that it reboots doing most of the actions in CWM, I think I have managed to wipe Dalvik but as soon as I try to install a rom it just reboots.
I also tried rooting again using Odin 1.85 but it fails with that version too.

If all else fails get yourself a S3 USB Jig. I bought one, funnily enough it arrived today from Hong Kong and it only cost something like 2,50€ delivered free. Then install a stock rom.

If your Nand is corrupt i dont think you can get out of it......99 percent of the time if you can get into download mode your good. but if you having Nand Write issues, i dont know if there is a coming back from that.
hope thats not the case and another member can shed some better light on the subject.

Could you post a link to that thread? I found this one and have tried flashing some of the PIT-files but it does not work. Or should I flash some other files at the same time?
Ok, following one guide witch seams to fix my problem is that I need a 3-part firmware. Every Firmware I have downloaded contains:
boot, cache, hidden, modem, recovery, system -if I extract them one extra time. Is that right? Where should I load them in odin in that case? If not could anyone direct me to a download-page for 3-part firmwares? (I downloaded the last one from samfirmware.com)
It is very strange that the core functions kind of work as I can boot normaly into the system and even run an app if I am fast, then reboot.
Downloadmode works untill I try to flash something.
CWM works until I try to do a Wipe or flash a rom, I can wipe dalvik and some other stuff, but not cache, data and some other. I noticed that You could partition sdcard from CWM should I try that? and if so what should i select in the next screen about partition size?

Stuck on Samsung Boot Screen, ODIN fails

Just noticed my phone was on the Samsung boot screen, it was just sitting on my desk I wasn't even using it.
The phone was only rooted via Odin about a month ago, using a stock 4.1.1 rom (Norway, Telenor)
I managed to get into the Odin mode so I can try ans re-flash the stock rom hoping this may fix it.
I could only find this ROM (which is a norway telenor 4.04 rom)
I9300XXBLFB_I9300TENBLF1_I9300XXLFB_HOME.tar.md5
My question is about why Odin fails, here is the message;

Try Odin v.3.07
dont work
Not sure but think , its possible a corrupted emmc !
But flashing a wrong pit file could make things even worse - lets investigate a bit more ?
Try latest odin 3.07
Btw: its a long shot but try flashing whitout external sd - remove it first
same result with Odin 3.07, no PIT partition...
so I found 3 PIT files.

Heey mate,
I have the same as you,no pit.
The emmc is burned.
I take it to the repair center, and they told me it was the screen, cost 216 euros.
I say the screen is good it's the main board that's bad.
No warranty they say,f..k it.
Now I buy a main board from someone,100 euro.
Put it in and voila,it works.
Warranty samsung sucks.
Good luck.
Do you have the blue one.
It happens a lot with the blue ones.

with what excuse did they tell you no warrenty?
even if you flashed it they cant say no warrenty, a ok phone dosent burn emmc because of a flash, actually in eu theres a eu statement proven at court that says they cant say so, ill find the page for you, print that and throw that in their faces!
Searching is not really painful....have you tried it?

Good days to everyone!
I've got a situation with my GT-N7100. It doesn't seem to get past the first logo during boot-up, ever.
I've tried the newest MD5 version for that model. "N7100UBUEND1_N7100TCEEND1_N7100UBUEND1_HOME.tar.m d5"
Used the PIT file to Re-Partition and several versions of Odin.
With the PIT file, only version V3.07 hangs at, "Get PIT for mapping..", all other versions seem to fail.
Pit File used: Q1_20110914_16GB.pit
Without the file I get: (Using the tar.md5 packet with V3.07 Odin)
<ID:0/004> Firmware update start..

The phone will not go into recovery mode, the only thing I can get it to do is enter download mode.
How this started? Holding the phone, looking at it. It reset itself and never came back.
I disabled my Anti-Virus... Not sure what else to try. Thank you very much in advance!
***UPDATE*** (I was able to enter recovery mode but it seems to fail to mount anything.)
***UPDATE*** (At wits end, not sure what else to try. I'm thinking the NAND has become corrupt and or unrecoverable. Or unless there was a way to, similar to PC's, do a chkdsk repair. At this time i'm downloading the toolkit and attempt anything through ADB, I feel there is nothing more I could do to Un-Brick the phone. I read about Soft/hard Brick, the phone seems to be Soft Bricked but nothing is allowing me to repair/recover through any download method. Booting into recovery fails to mount everything [as seen in pics].)

I'd try to install a custom recovery and use that to install new software to see if you can get booted. If the custom recovery can't mount anything, then that might tell us more about what's going on.

Thanks for your response! I am not sure where to find a custom recovery or how I would apply that to the phone. Debugging isnt enabled and I cannot enable it as its stuck in boot. Over half of the features wont work in ADB mode, due to debugging not enabled.

Just have to get to Download Mode and use Odin to install the custom recovery. Has nothing to do with USB Debugging.

I'm still not exactly sure where to get this custom ROM you mention.
I tried another recovery, Note2-CWM-6.0.4.3-GT-N7100. It goes about %75 rather quickly and fails.

Sounds like you might have messed it up from flashing that older Pit file, which might have been Gingerbread or early ICS, being that it's from 2011...
You realize that there is a whole sub forum here devoted to your phone, right? It seems like you haven't tried to do much research here.

Problems with Odin, Rom Stock and PIT files.

hey guys,
I don't have a recovery mode (getting white screen instead). only download mode.
I downloaded the correct firmware and tried install and it failed (in system.img) and requested a PIT file.
I downloaded the PIT file and it got failed again.. I tried to install this twrp thing and still not good.
This is what I get when I try to install pit + twrp (auto reboot, re-partition and f. reset time are checked):
<ID:0/007> Added!!
<ID:0/007> Odin v.3 engine (ID:7)..
<ID:0/007> File analysis..
<ID:0/007> SetupConnection..
<ID:0/007> Initialzation..
<ID:0/007> Set PIT file..
<ID:0/007> DO NOT TURN OFF TARGET!!
<ID:0/007> Get PIT for mapping..
Edit:
I've tried with the nand checked aswell and got this:
<ID:0/007> Added!!
<ID:0/007> Odin v.3 engine (ID:7)..
<ID:0/007> File analysis..
<ID:0/007> SetupConnection..
<ID:0/007> Initialzation..
<ID:0/007> Erase...
<ID:0/007>
<ID:0/007> Complete(Write) operation failed.
<OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 1)
Any idea?
Thank you guys!
Have you tried different cables, are you using a USB port on the motherboard?.
The drivers work because it sees the phone in odin.
Are you loading the stock firmware AND the pit file at the same time?.
If you can answer yes to all of those then it's a bin job.
I don't recommend trying to flash a pit and TWRP at the same time. I only recommend using a pit file, when necessary, with stock firmware.

Yes, tried a different cable.
Yes, I used a USB port on the motherboard
Yes it's a stock, and tried separately and didn't work.
Damn

I tried to use only the pit but all i get is that error. It didn't matter if I used a TWRP / stock firmware.
Don't flash using only the pit file.
Flash twrp or stock ROM without pit.
If flashing the stock firmware on its own fails or it says about a pit partition in odin then load both the pit file and the stock firmware at the same time. If it fails to flash them you can safely assume the phone has a corrupt nand and is dead.
You can also try flashing older versions of the recovery, twrp or cwmr. The last official cwmr was the most stable for me and helped me recover from a f*ked twrp that caused the e:failed to mount errors.
If it can take a flash of any type it might be recoverable. Just because it fails a flash doesn't mean its dead dead, just borked beyond the usual capability of the average Joe bloggs..
I would recommend, just for the fact it can't get any worse than what it already is, find the stock firmware in separate files along with the last official cwmr and flash them one by one and when you get the fail errors you'll know exactly what part of the nand is faulty. Basically just mess with it until you kill it. If it jumps into life in the meanwhile then you got lucky and should put a ticket on the lottery!.
Hope this helps inspire a bit of confidence!.
