[SOLVED] Battery Not Charging While Connected to Power plug - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys, Need help, My battery was charging properly all these days, suddenly from today evening it is not charging when connected to the power plug, although charges properly when connected via USB When i connect it to the power plug th light goes red but the battery is not charging (no lightning streak in the battery / settings>about phone>status says not connected). just updated to the new f/w a couple of days ago.
build no = 2.0.2.A.0.24
baseband = 2.0.49
was playing around with the 2.2 roms today but after a while restored it back to stock 2.1 (backed up via xrec), Noticed this issue when i put it up for charging, so i cleared the battery stats via xrec but nothing happened, so after a lot of searching found a solution, to reflash back to stock fw ( so used SEUS and updated to stock 2.1) but still the issue remains.
Any suggestions guys????

Is your battery charger working first of all? Borrow another charger from a friend of yours and then try charging it. If if gets charged then its your charger who is at fault.
If not then it might be a hardware problem.

Thank you for the suggestion <AdY>, but why would the light turn on whilst i connect it to the wall???? that's whats bothering me... if the charger wasn't working then the light also should'nt be working right???

Theres about 5-6 pins inside that connector. Maybe its damaged and the ones that say connected are connected, but the ones that put the power down are damaged?
posted direct from the legend that is the x10i... the fastest processor, the slowest response...

Check the usb in the phone aswell..

its connecting to the PC fine, and its charging as well so, am daily charging it that way... could messing up with batt stats in xrec be a reason???? cos the problem began after a wipe in xrec (factory reset, dalvik cache and batt stats) while installing froyo ( tried TripNRavers and then Free X10) right now am on AOSP 2.1 8b.

Tried everything but nothing worked, changed the charger now everything's fine. Thank you for the suggestions people...
I was thinking it was more of a software issue as it happened after i wiped the batt stats in xrec for the first time, maybe it happened co-incidentally, That's why i was trying out all the various softer ways to it ( flashing various roms, versions, downgrading and upgrading my baseband etc etc...) in the end, the base of my charger was at fault i guess... but still when i connect my phone to the old charger, the LED lights up and display switches on as if charging, that's what still baffles me... and my battery indicator pro status changes to fully charged

i experienced the same issue last week...
now i recovered the phone.
First recharge the battery by wall charger. led will turn green instead of red... beware,,, insert battery after you plug in power cord.
second open the back cover, unscrew the screws, you can find the video from youtube to guide you... in my case, one of the connectors was not sitting well.
try it again... it will flash smoothly normally only takes 4 mins to done the whole processing... make sure you have full charged battery during the update.
i am recharging my battery with battery charger now
and i just finish unscrewing my phone and reconnecting all the connector and cleaning the USB and the battery connector
lets wait and see
fully recharged battery and all well connected connector and nothing
so tomorrow i will go for serves ????
I ended up buying an external Battery charger, works well.
I have the same problem here!

My X10 suddenly cannot turn on, press the power button, only flashing the red led 3 times(battery is full), the screen display nothing, press any button has no response, I do not know what the problem, please help...
Sounds like the battery is flat, maybe a problem with the charger or usb plug is not charging the battery? Does the light go on when you plug the charger in? Does it go green, if not then it would indicate a battery /charger problem

I faced the same issue.
My phone's problem was that when I upgraded to a new ROM, I didnt wiped the battery stats.
And phone was not turning on as the battery was flat and it was not charging also.
This is what I did.
Opened flash tool.
Removed the battery.
Pressed back button of phone and connected USB to phone and PC.
Inserted the battery.
Now I see the green LED means phone is in flash mode.
I kept phone like that for almost 10 mins ! (battery will actually charge a little when we do so)
Later I disconnected and switched on phone and it worked !
The first thing I did was rebooting into recoevry and wiping battery stats.
And the actuall battery was less than 10 % !
You can have a try this way and see if it can be fixed.
Good luck !
I did the same as Runaway Bunny. It worked perfectly after that. Just be sure to wipe the battery stats and FULLY charge your phone immediately.
EDIT
I ALSO had an issue with the USB port going bad so you may watch for that as well if the above does not work.
And let us know how you made out.
Thats very bad i kept my phone 5-6 hours on charge and it turned on this happened to me 3 times in a day
EDIT:My battery got to 5-0% in 2 secs and it turned off at that time it was my brand new phone...

I've been followed the step, but it show red LED (flash slowly) not green LED.
seems not the same problem, thanks!
What you see in LogCat when you use USB while switching on ?
I guess, now you can start ADB while switching on and wipe stats through command prompt, hope it helps.
I also had the same problem but fixed it as "Bunny" mentioned (Cute name though)

I know this is a late addition, but if all else failed then it very well might be the usb cord, i had to replace mine as it stopped working. I picked up 2 on ebay for $4 which included postage and 2 replacement batteries set me back $10 delivered

cant start up phone without charger

something strange is happened to me, after flashing some roms
no i cant boot my phone without a charger.
tried to re flash again to KPH and XXC1 but same prob.
also tried to use battery calibration, nothing changed.
after i unpluged USB conector the still showing that it connected to my computer.
did it happen to some one ?
thanx
you must have deleted some important system file while trying to do the battery calibration ... try flashing your phone with complete (5 file format) ROM
Or Its time to change the battery ‼
i tried to flash GB then back to froyo .
battery is good, after i start up the phone with charger
there is no problem to disconnect the charger and stay with battery.
also changed battery no change.
i have noticed that after i disconnect usb from the phone
the is shown that usb is still connected.
maybe the phone brooked ?
Is your phone under warranty ??
you might have to replace the USB Port for your phone
Yap thats what im going to do.

I have the same pb with a i9000 and after 2 month was solved by the service replacing the microUSB connector.
(other 2 times in service they told me that the phone's hardware is OK, but it wasn't)
when that happends, even with full charged battery it shows an empty one....
my advice: go with the phone in service, ask them to check the hardware and if they say it's ok then ask them to change the microUSB, could't cost so much

My x10 is stone dead

Hi [After many tries and errors i finally updated with seus and the problem was solved, thanks to all for helping]
i know there are loads of threads up about the X10 being dead but i dont find those problems and solutions any good for my problem so here it is.
I started getting weird boot loops, and the phone started and shut down by itself. Now it wont charge, and it wont turn on.
Things ive already tried:
Tried taking out the battery + sim and sd card, holding the power button for 5sec and then re inserting the battery. ( didnt work )
Tried connecting it to the computer so i could update with pcc ( didnt work )
Tried holding the <-------- button while connecting to computer, ( didnt work )
Tried leaving the battery for a couple of days so it would get low and then trying to charge it ( didnt work )
Tried charging the phone without the battery plugged in ( the green light went on for a while then stoped. :S )
so right now, it wont turn on, it wont charge. What can i do ?

You can also charge your battery with external charger or put it in some another phone and charge it.
After its charged, flash stock firmware using flashtool or use pc companion or seus to go to 2.3.3
Similar problem, no solution thus far
I have a similar problem as the OP, but nothing suggested has worked, my situation a bit more unique (or dire depending on how you look at it).
My phone was working fine about a week and half ago, it had been hanging a lot if I remember correctly and I had to flash a few times the last couple of months. I had just done a flash and the phone was working perfectly so I left it on my desk a couple of days maybe. When I got back to it it would not turn on or charge. I tried everything I'd learned, taking the batter out and leaving it for a bit, leaving it charging for a whole day. No matter what I did I could not get it charged or recognized in USB. I bough a new battery and it arrived today, left it charging for a couple of hours, but nothing's changed. I would hate to have to buy a new phone if there is a possibly simple solution. Anyone?
No LED's whatsoever, the phone is just stone cold non-responsive. Thanks in advance.

AW: My x10 is stone dead
Take an old micro usb ,, cut it ,, you will see 4 cables
Green and white for data (pc connection)
And red +
And black or grey -
Take only red + and black -
Then take the battery out of the phone connect the cables plus + go to plus +
And minus - goto minus - ( you can orientate by the battery
Then put battery in with cables connected do you understand?
My english is not so good xD
My mother have the same problem
The phone is only charging this way :/

S2 thinks it is rechargin when it is not

Hi,
Yesterday when I took the phone off the charger normally, it started to indicate that it is being recharged, and a couple of seconds after it announces that it will no longer be charged and this same cycle continues and continues playing the annoying sound / message. I tried to fix it by removing the battery, but it did not help at all. I also tried to connect the phone to Kies but when Kies recognize it, the program crashes ...
So could someone please help me with this?

Hey,
I have been actually been having the same problem, it could:
1. bad charging brick
2. battery issue
3. kernel issue - i dont think its this one any more because i am still getting it on the stock leaked firmware.
4. usb charging board
i have tried flashing different roms / kernels and doesnt seem to be a cache / file issue since it happening before the phone boots. (charging screen)
if possible try another s2's battery in your phone... power off the phone and see if it auto starts or goes into charging screen. I have a spare battery and i dont seem to get the issue on that one. (still testing)
I also noticed i really only get the issue when i leave the phone charging for the night then wakeup. pull the charging cable and the phone doesn't register the disconnect and says its still charging. if i connect the usb to a laptop and connect and disconnect, it registers instantly.
i have looked for bent pins / dust.. depending on the better testing goes it may be the charging board that could be the issue.
good luck

I agree with you about the usb port problem. I also had a problem with the usb port, the battery icon was blinking all the time and the phone had a huge battery drain issue. All I could do is returning to stock, unrooting and bringing the phone to service center for repair.
