I know this might be silly but I am on Nero V3 and love the sound the phone makes when you lock it by pressing the power button. I was wondering if there was a way or method I could use to grab that sound and use it for GB keyboard input sound.
Im not a noon but not a dev either. Wondering if someone could point me in any direction of getting this done. Not asking anyone to do it for me, id like to learn how but don't mind help from more knowledgeable people.
Thanks in advance for reading atleast. Lol.

On the Hero I feel that the volume control buttons on the left hand side of the unit are wasted. I would much rather turn them into scroll up/down buttons to give me an experience similar to the scroll wheel on my HTC TyTN 2 (Oh how I miss that scroll-wheel) - does anyone know how to do this?
Cheers,
Mike
I had a similar question about this. I have held the hero and played with it before. impatiently awaiting mine to get here on Thursday. from my short run from it, the back button annoyed the hell out of me, i think it should have swapped placed with the search key.
For those of you who have the hero, is this an annoyance to you? do you still wish it would have been closer to the trackball? or did you get used to it?
if your answers are : yes, yes, and no, anyone know how to go about getting the ball rolling on remapping these buttons? thanks alot.
You have to edit the files in /system/usr/keylayout with an Editor like Notepad++ or Textpad.
I was also interested in remapping the back key so thanks for providing an answer the the query.
I have tried to find some application to edit the files you pointed at, unfortunately, none of the notepads I tried seem to be able to open the files. Have I missed anything (apologies if I am asking a somewhat obvious question...)
Thanks for enlightening me
There should be some kind of way to access thoses files from the handset, but I guess it could be easier and more pratical to access them from your computer, by mouting /system through adb.
I have had the hero for about 3 weeks and unfortunately I find the back button still difficult to press when holding in one hand. I bet left handets have no probs tho.
i've been using virusROM RC1B3.1 almost exclusively for about a month now, and bouncing between ADW EX and LauncherPro Plus (leankernel normal 1.41).
at one point i was able to set the time required to presshold a keyboard button before it toggled, but i've lost that ability.
also, i changed the keyboard from GB to stock (or something similar), but am now unable to change back because there is no prefs button on the keyboard.
so there're my problems, now here're my questions:
where do those issues lie? in the ROM? in the launcher? in the keyboard package (and is that called the apk?)?
aaaand, is this something i can repair on the phone or am i gonna hafta finally set aside a saturday to learn adb?
thanks in advance!
No ideas? Nobody?
Cmon folks, I won't be a n00b forever
Hold on any text input screen and select input method. Then choose the keyboard you want to use.

Thanks button: smacked. along with my forehead. Can't believe I missed such a basic function.
Makes me wonder how much other easy stuff I'm looking right past.
Thanks again
Hey guys,
Just curious if there is a way to modify the gADAM 1.3 rom to remove a few features. Specifically, the rom is advertised as a fix for the g-tablet to get rid of useless phone functions (I don't ever intend to use my tablet as a phone....) and I am impressed that the dock bar buttons are so easy to customize and rid of phone function icons. I REALLY love this rom but had to switch to homelauncher PRO rather than the launcher it comes with. Therefore, I am not certain if my issue is with homelauncher PRO or with gADAM 1.3...
That all out of the way (I am long-winded; sorry)... from homelauncher PRO main widget screen, when turning the volume up or down, it says "Ringtone volume" when I push the volume buttons... I want those buttons to modify the media volume, or perhaps ALL device volumes (notifications included). Instead, I have had to navigate through all the settings and mess with volume controls in there rather than simply using volume -/+ buttons. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
By the way, thanks for everything you guys are doing. I feel like part of a tight group of friends/family just reading posts let alone if I manage to find the time and start contributing as much as possible CHEERS!
I recently posted a question about how to figure out what specific tweaks the different roms have...could not figure out how to find what I am looking for.
So here is what I am looking for: I recently switched from the Samsung S2 and now have the EVO 4G LTE. Now, don't get me wrong, I love this phone, but...I reeeeeaaaaaly miss the swipe features. For instance when in the contacts list you can swipe left for call (it will dial and start ringing automatically) or you can swipe right to text (will go right to start a text message for that contact). And another feature I miss is when answering a call is a swipe, not a press.
It is whole lot easier and SAFER to just swipe with thumb to answer without having to look down to make sure I TOUCH the right button in just the right place..know what I mean?
If anyone knows of a rom where this has been tweaked in, I would love to know. If it hasn't been tweaked in, maybe a developer will see this and incorporate it into a new ROM.
did you ever get any responses about this? is it possible?
Hi,
sorry if this is the wrong category, couldn't post in any other.
I am trying to replace the call app on my xperia z2 because I really don't like the look and functionality of the stock ui call app. However I wasn't able to find any option to do this (no matter for what device). Does anyone have an idea how to do it? Just to clarify: I am not talking about the dialer but about the screen that pops up if you are actually in a call (with the buttons to hang up, mute etc.).
Any way to theme the stock ui also would suffice. Thanks a lot.
